Hi..
How to handle the data if the server is suddenly down.. what happened with the data which is getting processed in the server..
As a risk mitigation.. what are the pre-configurations needs to be done to avoid the data loss ..

Kishore

Hi..
Risk mitigation:
Incase of
1. server downtime.
2. Recovery of data
3. Incase if we need to delete the uploaded data in SAP R/3 (For example to clear the material master data uploaded since golive for certain reasons)
4. Legacy system downtime
5 Diaster recovery
Can you help on how to take preventive steps for the above cases..

  • ARQ: Risk Mitigation Mandatory and Request Forward causing problem???

    Hi,
I have a scenario where in, at a certain stage, "Risk Mitigation" is made mandatory and also "Forward Request" option is available at this stage for the same approver.
What is happening is that, when this approver tries to approve the request without mitigating the risks, it gives error message and request can not be approved. This is fine and going as per the configuration.
Now the same approver is trying to forward the request to some other person for some business reasons (with "WITH RETURN" check box checked and disabled). This request is reaching to the desired recipient as expected. But the problem is that, when after providing his comments (a business requirement before mitigating risks, if need be) if he tries to approve (submit) the request, application gives the same error message that: "Request can not be submitted. Mitigate Risk XYZ"!
Due to this, request can not be submitted and sent back to main approver! I noticed that, the request still lies on the same stage and the same stage configuration is being considered for this forwardee too!
This is keeping the request hanging as this forwadee is not authorized to mitigate the risks.
Can any one please help me resolve this?
    Regards,
    Faisal

    Alessandro,
    Thanks for your reply.
Now I see (as confirmed) that we have technical limitation or application design that when we forward a request, it DOES NOT change the stage (even I noticed this). So I was thinking that only we have "SUBMIT" button to send it back to the main approver.
But as you said, this forwardee can use the same "Forward Request" option instead of "Submit" button. This looks the option here which suits the situation.
But can you please tell me if we can do something to inform the forwardee that he must select "Forward Request" option and not Submit button?
Because, this submit button is visible and he can click it without knowing! And then this error message of Mandatory risk analysis then appears!
    Is there any work around?
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Faisal

  • Risk Mitigation approval in CUP

    Hi All
I am trying to mitigate a role for a specified risk. The workflow gets successfully trigerred from RAR and is shown to the approver in CUP. However when the approver tries to approve the request in CUP, system shows an error "Error Processing your request, Request no.__ in stage: CC_MITOBJ"
Can someone help me out in resolving this.
    Thanks
    Nitin

    Hi,
I am not getting the link to Mitigate the riks for the Roles requested from CUP. when I am trying to select the risk to mitigate after the Risk Analysis is done from RAR and the report is fetch to CUP no links are showing. It shows error on the screen "Correct the following errors: Select a risk."
The message "Error on page" shows in the bottom left corner of the browser. I can not go any further to mitigate the risk.
The soluition was put to import the AE_init_append_data.xml as instructed n the A 5.3 installation guide. This file contains lines for background color that ar enecessary for display of the Risk. each support package of 5.3 has this file and is delivered in the .SAR file, and this should always be updated if delivered.
I have tried this and still falling to Mitigate the risk as the problem remains. May I know if you have some other solution or if you can provide me with the correct and update file for above request.
    Thanks,

  • Mitigated risks workflow for SoD detour approval

    Hi All,
Please assist. I have configured a workflow for requests as follows:
Super user submits request - Workflow to Business Analyst (if there are violations they can assign an existing mitigation control) - Auto Provision
If no existing control is available - Detour to SoD officer (to compile a new control with Business Analyst) - workflow to GRC administrator to capture new control on the system - Auto provision
The problem that I have now is with the first part of the workflow wherein there are violations and there is a control in place that can be applied to mitigate the risk. If mitigate the risks associated with the request, the worflow still goes to SoD officer in spite of all risks mitigated.
Is there a way I can set this to enforce the assigned controls? Checking from RAR, the user is only linked to the control upon closing the request.
I have set Risk Analysis defaults on CUP to "Consider Mitigation Controls"
    GRC 5.3 SP13
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Sabrina,
For Access Request workflow, we generally use GRAC_MSMP_DETOUR_SODVIOL to implement routing rule(based on detour condition - risk found). Purpose of same (if I am not mistaken) is to through the request to another level of approver wherein mitigation monitor agent reviews the mitigation performed by role owner stage and approve/reject the request.
But, when we create a role same is not the condition as we do not mitigate role level risk thus no need to go for mitigation monitor stage. May be you have some business scenario, if you can let us know will be gr8.
For the rule ID, did you try adding the rule ID ?(you may already know, still would like to cross check with you).
GRAC_MSMP_DETOUR_SODVIOL under list of rules for "
Role Approval Workflow" In the screenshot you have shown, just click on ADD feed -
    Rule ID -GRAC_MSMP_DETOUR_SODVIOL.
Rule description - same as Access request.
Rule type - Function module based
    rule kind - routing rule.
Add this and check if it works and let us know the result too.

  • CUP Request Audit Trail missing info about Mitigations & Risks

    Hi  All,
We use  SAP GRC CUP 5.3 SP8 Patch 1.
When provisioning an SAP account through the GRC solution, we notice that the Audit trail is missing any details about the risks &  mitigations that are applied to the request. Ideally we need to track the user who applied the mitigation and the time stamp for the action. We can see the Risks and the mitigations applied in separate sections in the request(but still missing the details i've mentioned above)
We have configured the system so that the risks need to be mitigated before approving a request.
Is there a way(some config) we can get this info too recorded in the Audit trail?
    Thanks,
    Anil

I was getting an error in RAR that it couldn't send out the notification e-mail.  The Java Mail Client had not been configured.  Once I had done this, and restarted the server0, it worked.

  • Mitigation Monitor Email Notification

    Hi experts,
When the mitigation monitor doesn't run the report for a specific period of time, or anything changes in the assignation period, then he gets a alert notification. can any one please tell, where it is defined like 1. what are the workflow(where it is defined), 2)Format of the Email, the monitor"ll get.
As of my understanding it should take the format from the email reminder from the CUP work flow.. but not sure, because in my system  it is using a different format, while sending email notification to the mitigation monitor. Can any one please clarify?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Gurugobinda

    Hi Gurugobinda,
RAR alert notification functionality doesn't use any of CUP workflows, instead based on Configuration of Risk owner / mitigating control approver email address, RAR sends notification email to them. As Alpesh said, format of alert notification email is hardcoded in RAR.
CUP workflows are used by RAR for different purpose like approval for RIsk, Mitigating Control maintenance or assignment of mitigating control to a user, role or profile.

  • Material Reservations and PO

    Hello,
my question is at which stage of the network the material (components) reservations or Purchase orders, automatically trigger.
when the project (with networks and materials) is created or released.
because I have issue like the project is in TECO and for some reason we are planning to undo the TECO. if I undo the status, will it again creates the PO or reservation.
Is there any document, which explains in detail about the configuration of PS -MM integration.
Is there any concept like labor reservation just like material reservation. I am not sure is question itself true or not.
    Thank You

    Hi Gokul,
My answer is correct considering the following in my perception and not in SAP functionality view.
    <<<<
At what status of the WBS / network will this Material reservations or PO's get triggered. Is it at Created or Released.
    >>>>
When WBS elements are in created status means project has not yet received the approval to go ahead from the project controller or whoever may be in the business.
If some reasons, Management cancel the project or Customer cancel the project and its very easy to set the DLFL flag on project. But what will happen to the committed costs. Do the Management ready to take up unwanted burden and raise unwanted inventories in warehouse. Risk Mitigation is an alternate option but try to avoid inviting the risks which will save time and money.
There are so many things to consider just not going by the SAP functionality. This is what I feel and you may not accept my statement but at the same time I respect your views and ideas.

  • Solution for Data transfer from Non-network location

If i  needed 10 non-networked locations around Australia to submit data (say text files ranging from 20 - 100 mb each) each day to my server, and the data loaded and manipulated into a database in a secure environment, would you be able to describe the key points and a possible solution to this problem ?

    Hi Amar,
FTP [File Transfer Protocol] alone isnu2019t a viable option to give the insight, security, performance, and, ultimately, the risk mitigation necessary to responsibly conduct business. One of the solution to protecting and transferring sensitive or mission-critical data securely is Managed File Transfer (MFT). Managed File Transfer solutions provide a greater level of security, meet strict regulatory compliance standards and give you the reliability you need in a data transfer solution.
Points to look for in a solution:
    a.  Providing file transfer transparency throughout your entire organization.
    b. Solution should support the most modern security standards and methodology including SSL encryption, X.509 certificates and proxy certificates.
    c. The solution should streamline the audit process while also being able to access that audit information from a central point, saving you time and money.
    d. Solution should include functionality that allows data to be pre-and post-processed.
    e.  Solutions should ensure that all interrupted file transfers resume where they left off after a connection failure without manual intervention.
    f. Should tightly integrate with your existing job scheduling solution to issue alerts if connections are not re-established after an acceptable time interval.
    g. Should adhere to current security and audit requirements including SOX, GLBA and HIPAA.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Jimmy

  • Outlook for Mac - security

I just installed Microsoft Office 2011 on a new MacBook Air (OSX 10.8.4).  It’s the Office 365 version so it includes Outlook, in addition to Word, Excel andPowerPoint.
I suppose that Outlook is more (?) connected to my network than Word, Excel and PowerPoint...
Does use of Outlook (I have not yet added an email account to the app) create a security vulnerability significantly over and above that associated with Word, Excel andPowerPoint?
I have installed Sophos' free antivirus software on the machine and the firewall is on, but I'd welcome thoughts on whether I should avoid use of Outlook altogether (i.e. rely on Apple's Mail) or if there is limited extra risk from a system security perspective or, whether there are risk-mitigation options.

    Hi Carlos,
This forum is for general questions and feedback related to Outlook for Windows. Since the problematic account can work well in Outlook 2010 with Windows 7 but not in Outlook for Mac 2011, I suggest we can ask a question in

  • Credit management ECC 6.0 implementation

    Hi Experts/Gurus,
One of our clients have done a technical upgrade from SAP 4.6c to ECC 6.0.
Now they want to know what will be the timeline required for implementation of the Integrated credit management functionality of ECC6.0 in their SAP system if they go on for functional upgrade.
    Now following are my doubts:
    1) How to compare their existing credit management process/Functionality with the new ECC 6.0 integrated credit management functionality?
    2) How to decide upon the timeline required to implement the new credit management functionalityof ECC 6.0?
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,
Its depend on your company upgrade strategies, compair 40. credit mgt. functionality & 6.0 functionality.
    then go for upgradre
Heer I some comments on upgrade
    Upgrade Scenarios
Customers who are motivated to upgrade to ECC 6.0 generally pursue at least one of the four key goals just discussed as the primary goal of the upgrade.
    Improved business strategy
    Sustainability
    Operational excellence,
    Lower TCO
SAP takes three major approaches to upgrading, each driven by a different motivation and leading to a different ROI and payback periods.
    u2022 Technical upgrade:
Focuses on risk mitigation and sustainability of the existing SAP solution.
    u2022 Functional upgrade:
Focuses on reducing TCO by reducing system complexity u2013 for example, by returning custom modifications and custom code to SAP standard code
u2022 Upgrade with strategic business improvements:
Considers major reengineering and implementation of new strategic business applications as part of the project scope. These approaches are summarized below.
The three major approaches can be complemented by other compelling changes such as system landscape consolidation, the implementation of shared service center(s), and so forth.
In summary, the more your upgrade decision is driven by business improvement goals, the better your expected ROI. Upgrade experiences and customer statistics confirm that the decision for an SAP software upgrade is usually determined by a mix of business, technology, and strategic criteria.

  • Need urgent general questions...

1, why should we go for erp ? when having many technologies to implement projects ??
2,what r the implement strategies and intricaces ?
3, give comparision of erp products?
4, Feature and  advantages of sap ?
    disadvamtages of sap -abap ?

    Hi,
Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERPs) integrate (or attempt to integrate) all data and processes of an organization into a single unified system. A typical ERP system will use multiple components of computer software and hardware to achieve the integration. A key ingredient of most ERP systems is the use of a single, unified database to store data for the various system modules.
The term ERP originally implied systems designed to plan the utilization of enterprise-wide resources. Although the acronym ERP originated in the manufacturing environment, today's use of the term ERP systems has much broader scope. ERP systems typically attempt to cover all basic functions of an organization, regardless of the organization's business or charter. Business, not-for-profit organizations, governments, and other large entities utilize ERP systems.
Additionally, it may be noted that to be considered an ERP system, a software package generally would only need to provide functionality in a single package that would normally be covered by two or more systems. Technically, a sofware package that provides both Payroll and Accounting functions (such as QuickBooks) would be considered an ERP software package.
However; the term is typically reserved for larger, more broadbased applications. The introduction of an ERP system to replace two or more independent applications eliminates the need for interfaces previously required between systems, and provides additional benefits that range from standardization and lower maintenance (one system instead of two or more) to easier and/or greater reporting capabilities (as all data is typically kept in one database).
Examples of packages commonly referred to as ERP systems include: SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft (which has been taken over by Oracle), J.D. Edwards, Sage Software, BAAN, MAS, and the Microsoft Dynamics suite of ERP products.
Examples of modules in an ERP which formerly would have been stand-alone applications include: Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Financials, Human Resources, CRM, and Warehouse Management.
there are so many erp packages like SAP, PEOPLESOFT, BAAN, JD EDWARDS, ORACLE APPLICATIONS etc
SAP is the ERP package which suits best for the COMPANY's to plan their resources efficiently and perfectly such that a 100 percent integration is achieved between the different departments (modules) of an organization. Beacuse of its best integration among the functional modules it became famous.
    steps for smooth SAP Implimentation:
) Phased vs. "big bang" approach to migration - cutting over your systems all at once generally increases your risk, particularly on large projects across multiple geographies/countries.
    2) Training - the better training you provide users, the less problems you will see.
    3) Legacy system planning - what are you going to do with your systems after go-live? Will you run them in parallel for a short-period until you know the new ERP system is functional? If so, have you budgeted these costs in your ROI?
    4) Testing - Unit and integration testing is very important; you significantly reduce your implementation risk if you have thoroughly tested the solution with real data and real user profiles before go-live.
    5) IT support - expect more support center call volume and staff accordingly during go-live. You will also want to make sure you have clearly defined escalation procedures in place for ERP issues that your support staff isn't able to handle.
    6) Contingency planning - what will you do if your system does go down? Do you have manual processes you can revert to if needed?
It all boils down to ERP risk mitigation. You want to make your project plan, budget, and staffing all address the above variables.
    SAP Versions:
SAP ERP 6.0 running on NetWeaver 7.0
SAP ERP 2005 running on NetWeaver 2004
    SAP R/3 4.7(Enterprise) running on WebAS 6.20
    SAP R/3 4.6(mysap.com) running on Basis 4.6
    Older releases.
    SAP R/3 4.5
    SAP R/3 4.0
    SAP R/3 3.1
These are just the ERP or R/3 components here, there are of course a lot of other SAP software products as well.
ERP system takes a lead role because of some of the following reasons:
Many large corporations use several different and separate information systems, often because they have merged with and/or acquired other companies with varied systems. An ERP system integrates these separate information systems and results in improved data reliability and processing efficiency. ERP systems are not only used by large corporations but becoming popular with small to mid-sized companies also.
Simplify business transaction processing and thus work load is reduced.
Some of the main advantages of using SAP R/3 are listed below:
SAP's R/3, introduced in 1992, is the most used ERP system in the world.
The R/3 software package is designed to allow businesses to effectively and efficiently operate a variety of business processes within a single integrated information system.
The software is customizable using SAP's proprietary programming language, ABAP/4. R/3 is scalable and highly suited for many types and sizes of organizations and runs on six different platforms.
SAP’s R/3 has been designed to be the best ERP system in the four areas of human resources, financial, supply chain management, and marketing. R/3 is also an international product, and meets the local fiscal, language, and tax requirements of most countries.
