RMAN clone... after another clone...
I have the following situtation. My test database was refreshed yesterday from production (duplicate database).
Now, I have developers crying that they didn't get all their work from test and they "really, really" need it. Oh and I'm not to just restore into the newly refreshed test database.
So, I thought I could do something like the following...

I'm concerned about my restoring the controlfile... where will this restore to? My test instance or my aux instance?
Or can I even do this?

The control file will get restored to the location specified by the initialization parameter CONTROL_FILES of aux instance.

Using a 9i Solaris box and i need to perfom a RMAN clone of prod (target db) to train database. Train database does already exist.
I've performed "backup database plus acrhivelog all delete input" (on prod)
My query is when i do run "duplicate target database to traindb" will it refresh all the existing datafiles already in TRAIN db or will i need to manually drop the datafiles or even 'drop' the TRAIN database?

I got error at end when doing a RMAN clone on linux, RMAN 11.1.0.7. 89163 is the next to last highest sequence
number in the backup log file. So in the clone script I put 89165.

Also, 1 suggestion. Since you are on 11g, why not use the feature "active database" ?

1 more thing , standby database and duplicate database are same??RMAN Clone : you take backup of a database on one server ,then take it to other server ,again use RMAN to restore the database,A lot manual intervention is needed in this method
RMAN DUPLICATE: same as above just that manual intervention is less. With 11gR2 there active database duplication in which you can clone your test database directly from production database without taking and then transferring the backup to test server.
Standby Database :they are of two types Physical and logical.The setup is done using RMAN with any of the above methods.Standby is the in-sync (can have some delay) version of primary database either block by block which is physical standby configuration or SQL statment wise which is logical standby.
Data Guard:This is also a standby configuration.Here the failover and switchover are automated with the help of DGMGRL utility.In manual standby this same can be done via SQL*PLUS using sql commands -
I need to know how I can get the music videos on my IPad to play like the music does. What I mean id setting up a playlist, shuffle, and have them play one right after another instead of going back to the main screen.
At the top of the playlist where it shows the playlist title and the number of songs, there are two icons. Click the "play" triangle to add the entire playlist to "Up Next", or the "shuffle" symbol to do the same thing but in random order. But the currently playing track will stop playing, and all the songs in "Up Next" will be removed (replaced by the ones from this playlist).
If you hold down the "option" key while clicking those icons, the currently playing song will continue playing, and the new playlist will be added to "Up Next" (above the songs that were already there). -
I stopped using iCloud after another family member received all my contacts. Now I want to restart using iCloud. How do I prevent this happening again? We share the same Apple id password and credit card but different usernames.
If two of you shared the same contacts you were logged in with the same Apple ID. In order to avoid this you need to use different Apple IDs, and be using separate Macs or separate user accounts on the same Mac.
One or other of you should create a new Apple ID at http://appleid.apple.com for which you will need a non-Apple email address which hasn't been associated with another Apple ID. -
When I try and open Microsoft Word 2011 documents on my IMAC they start opening one after another at a rapid speed and I can't stop it. I reboot and same thing happens. The documents open in rapid succession on their own and don't stop until I force close or after maybe 100 or more open I start getting the following message for each document attemting to open "This document could not be registered. It will not be possible to create links from other documents to this document" and then in paretheses the name of the document. After I click okay another trys to open. Any suggestions?
If you had multiple documents open and quit the app without closing all of the docs first, it will open them again when you launch the app. Open Word, and then close all the documents, you may be asked to save the document, if the document was already saved but you made changes to it before you quit the app, you may need to save the changes first, shorcut ( command and s keys). After you close all of the documents then quit the app and restart the computer. See if this works.

I created a playlist with 100 songs. I want those 100 songs played using the shuffle option. This no longer works in iTunes version 11.1.5.5 How can I get an entire playlist to paly one song after another by using the switch option?

Was that iTunes' safe mode as opposed to Windows' safe mode? iTunes safe mode is invoked by holding down CTRL+SHIFT immediately after clicking the icon to launch iTunes and continuing to hold until this message pops up:
Click continue, then close iTunes and reopen. With luck iTunes now opens normally every time.

If I attempt to send a link to someone from a site I am visiting, ff starts opening one new start window after another. So fast i can't get it stopped. Even going into taskmaster which I sometimes have to try 3 or 4 times, it is impossible to get them all stopped they just keep multiplying. Only logging off or a restart will fix the problem.

My iPad air won't change at all, and I don't know if it's the port or charger cable it is charging normally but it just won't charge. I have had a new port put in before after a charger getting stuck in there but it worked fine after and now it's not working at all! I don't know if maybe it's the charger getting old but I have spent far too much money on this iPad then I should have as it's one problem after another witch is causing me lots of stress.
Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again.
How are you charging it? its's best charged plugged into the wall not via USB. So if you're trying via USB, try using the supplied power block plugged into the wall. -
Is it possible to play one music video after another in itunes/front row?
Hi all. Can anyone help me with this problem? When I use the movie part of front row to watch and listen to music vids I have front row goes back to the movie menu after each video has ended. Is it at all possible to watch one video after another without having to scroll down to the next music video after each music video has finished playing? Not sure if im being incredibly dense but any help would be greatly appreciated. I have Apple Care and they have no idea what im on about!
Thanks RobI've been doing some experimenting on this. I made a smart playlist in iTunes to gather all my music videos (which I have previously tagged with 'VIDEO' in the comment field).
In Frontrow, iTunes will not play the video at all- it just shows a single frame and plays the audio; in Movies, music videos, it will play one music video correctly, but then go back to the music video menu. This seems to be a known problem.
My solution is to go back to the desktop and use iTunes in the old fashioned way! Selecting my new VIDEO smart playlist will play all my music videos in any order I like using the normal parameters i.e. random, alphabetical by artist, album, name etc..

I have iTunes 7.0.2 and I can't figure out how to play podcasts one after another ... like, when one podcast is done, to go on to play the next one. Any ideas?I think you can create a podcast playlist then drag episodes to it, and arrange them in the order you want to listen.

Displaying images in canvas one after another

I have a problem displaying images in canvas one after another. I am using for loop and when i run the application, all images run back in the and only finally only the last image gets displayed in the emulator. I also used thread.sleep(). But it din't work.

Playing movies in Front Row one after another automatically?
I have a number of short video clips that I can watch with Front Row. However, every time a clip ends, I have to go and click “play” on the next clip and this is annoying. I am wondering if there is a way to make movies play one after another without stopping. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help. I'm still thinking there must be SOME way to pull this off. It seems like Mac's can do just about anything if you take the time to figure it out. Why wouldn't the people who designed Front Row not add this feature? It doesn't make any sense. There has to be a way. Anybody else have any ideas? -
