Rman hangs at exit if locally connected
hiho,
i've a nasty problem. if i connect rman locally 'rman nocatalog target /' it will
hang at exit.
i tried to connect at rman-prompt with the same result.
im using 8.1.6.1.0 on linux.
# su - oracle
[oracle]$ rman nocatalog
Recovery Manager: Release 8.1.6.1.0 - Production
RMAN> connect target;
RMAN-06005: connected to target database: ACCSRV02 (DBID=1987850870)
RMAN-06009: using target database controlfile instead of recovery catalog
RMAN> exit
Recovery Manager complete.
rman hangs
can anyone confirm this? workaround? any
hints?

Hi All,
I have a two node installation of EBS R12.0.4 running on HP-UX Itanium.
Last night we were having maintenance in our server room so we stopped the application and the database.
Afterwards, on restarting, the database came up without a problem.
On starting the application using adstrtal.sh script, the exits with status 5.
On checking the opmn logs, i found the following the folowing errors:

This has been fixed.the issue was caused because of exceeded limit of log file. -
Has anyone else experienced a recent phenomenon where DW CS3 Hangs on exiting with Vista. This is new and started without any new extensions, but possibly after some windows updates. I'm running Vista Home Premium x64 with UAC off, and the error is:
The program Dreamweaver.exe version 9.0.0.3481 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed.
The Event ID is 1002 with a Task Category of 101.
Everything works fine except when I am done working and try to close the program.Yes, it's starting happening for me 'recently'. It started happening on my laptop running Vista.
I've moved from XP to Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop and it now happens there as well.
This week, I moved from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium (fresh install) on my laptop and it is still happening.
I have found that if you open Dreamweaver and immediately close it without opening any files then it is ok, but if you open any file, close it, then close Dreamweaver then it just hangs. If you click the Windows close icon a few times then you get the 'look for solution', 'wait' or 'close immediately' options. If you view the crash details it says:

RMAN hangs on v$rman_status select
RMAN hangs after performing a backup or even simple commands.
I found that the "guilty" sql is:
select /*+ rule */ round(sum(MBYTES_PROCESSED)), round(sum(INPUT_BYTES)), round(sum(OUTPUT_BYTES)) from V$RMAN_STATUS START WITH RECID = :row_id and STAMP = :row_stamp CONNECT BY PRIOR RECID = parent_recid
I tried to do a simple select on v$rman_status, which also hangs.
I couldn't even desc v$rman_status.
I tried to gather statistics on the underlying tables (X$KRBMRST, X$KSFQP, X$KCCRSR) at no avail (the problem has been described in Oracle 10.1, see DocID 375386.1)
Another possible solution found would be to recreate the control file. Not the best solution on a production database.
Environment: Oracle SE 11.2 on Suse SLES 10.2
Any idea ?

The V$SESSION view just informs the following for the "waiting" session:
EVENT SQL*Net message from client
STATE WAITED KNOWN TIME
WAIT_CLASS Idle
As this doesn't seem very useful to me, i used the oradebug utility to do a hang analysis (should show the latch contention, isn't it ?)
Here is (part of) the result
is not in a wait:
last wait: 40 min 45 sec ago
blocking: 0 sessions
current sql: select * from v$rman_status
wait history:
1. event: 'SQL*Net message from client'
time waited: 38.355161 sec
wait id: 13 p1: 'driver id'=0x62657100
p2: '#bytes'=0x1
* time between wait #1 and #2: 0.000001 sec
2. event: 'SQL*Net message to client'
time waited: 0.000001 sec
wait id: 12 p1: 'driver id'=0x62657100
p2: '#bytes'=0x1
* time between wait #2 and #3: 0.000012 sec
3. event: 'SQL*Net message from client'
time waited: 0.000017 sec
wait id: 11 p1: 'driver id'=0x62657100
p2: '#bytes'=0x1
To complement this, i looked at the corresponding process at the os level using simple top -p. This showed a constant processor consumption and an increasing memory usage
.Seems that the process is not blocked, but is lost in its processing. Like and infinite loop... -
EPM Error while creating a local connection
Hello everyone,
I am a Dashboards designer and am new to BPC 10 MS. I am working on a dashboard that connects to BPC 10 MS to retrieve data via the EPM Connector. For this a 'Local' connection type must be used when creating the report in the Excel sheet using the EPM Add-In. I tried to create one but am facing a curious error which does not seem to be a known issue. I have installed the ODBO Client and therefore can create a local connection of type 'SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation'. Once I select this provider I entered my application server name and chose Windows Authentication for BPC MS as I have the service account credentials. I encountered an EPM - General error with the following text: Error while communicating with the server. Details: Framework message: Authorization failed. This error shows even if I'm using Excel and not Dashboards. If I use a different connector, I am able to access all the BPC data just fine. However, with local type (which is needed for the dashboard connector) it just doesn't work. I tried reinstalling the EPM Add-In as well as the EPM Connector without any change to the error.
I am using Win7 32-bit, Excel 2010 32-bit, ODBO Client SP12, EPM Excel Client SP16 Patch 1, BPC 10 MS server SP08, Dashboards 4.1 SP1.
Has anyone come across this before? Any help would be great as I'm very much stuck at this point.Hi Deena,

Looks like the JNDI that you created for the ConnectionFactory is not reflected in the server.
Login to WLS Console> Summary of Servers > server_name > View JNDI Tree
Browse to the JNDI tree and see if your JNDI is visible there. If it is not then, please restart the server and recheck.
Once you are able to find it in the JNDI tree, then execute the customization file.
If you have modified the existing JNDI properties (that have a small exclamatory symbol) then any changes to those are not reflected till all the servers in the cluster are restarted.
If it still does not work, then recreate a new Connection with a different name and then retry. It should work then.
Thanks,

Cross domain scripting at run time using local connection flash AS2
Hi
I want to do live video streaming using FMS and FMLE in Flash As2. Suppose 100 users watching video online and I want to show message to all 100 users using the Local connection.
If I am sending message using different browser in same pc then I can get the message which was send from another swf file but I am checking from another pc then message not coming in receiver swf file.
Please find the code below.
receievemovie.swf
// Code in the receiving SWF file
this.createTextField("result_txt", 1, 10, 10, 100, 22);
System.security.allowDomain("*")
System.security.allowInsecureDomain("*")
var my_lc:LocalConnection = new LocalConnection();

sending_lc.allowInsecureDomain = function(sendingDomain:String) {
return (sendingDomain == "*");
myButton.onRelease = function(){
sending_lc = new LocalConnection();
sending_lc.send("lc_name", "methodToExecute", sendMsg.text);
sendMsg.text="Message has been sent"
If you have any other way to do it please suggest me to do that.

Change local connection string on remote server
Hello,
I have searched every post and tried every connection string there but can't figure out how to connect to my database on my remote server. I am using Visual Developer 2005 Express Edition in C# and uploading it to a Windows server running asp.net 2.0. The domain has not resolved yet.
I am so new to this and have followed many tutorials step by step but none of them address this issue. They just show how to upload it to the server.
Do I need to use the SQL server provided by my host or can the database stay in the App_Data folder?
My local connection string works locally:
<add name="ConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\add_newSQL.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
When I uploaded to my server I changed \SQLEXPRESS to (local) as advised in the forum.
<add name="ConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=(local);AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\add_newSQL.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
When I debug a page I get the <customErrors mode="Off"/>
error message even thought I have already set it in my remote web.config file which may be causing problems itself:
<configuration>
<appSettings/>
<connectionStrings>
<add name="ConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=(local);AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\add_newSQL.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off" />
<compilation debug="false" />
<authentication mode="Windows" />
</system.web>
</configuration>
Thanks for any help you can offer. I wish I could find someone to hire to do this part for me or teach me how over the phone. Any suggestions?Is this still an issue?
Thanks!

Lose WiFi connection keep local connection
Several times now I have lost internet connection but am able to keep the local connection part. Yellow triangle states on WiFi signal icon that I have lost internet portion of connection. I run Network troubleshooter and it says its resetting the Wireless device but my internet connection does not return. Its only after I turn off the WiFi and back on that my connection to the internet is avaialable. I have run HP support and have all the driver updates and Windows updates.
So far none of my other devices experience this issue. I know this notebook has a Realtek WiFi card which I know is not the greatest for reliability. Realtek and me go back many notebooks with connection issues. Its like they work only when they feel like it. Guess this Stream probably has a WiFi card soldered to the motherboard. So I guess replacing it is out of the question. Hope someone has some other ideals or maybe Windows 8.1 is to blame?
This question was solved.
View Solution.After doing more digging I found several other people user this same WiFi card having similar issues. One person even went so far as to say its a on chip firmware issue and others claim a Windows 8.1 issues which they are working to resolve.
In any case I go days without issue and use my Stream 11 a lot for business. So I guess the issue is not affecting me too bad. -
Hi Everyone,
I'm having trouble with the java virtual machine or maybe some class may be causing this too. Windows and everything else completely hangs once I exit from my program.
This just happens with some programs. I have been working on a project for a couply of weeks now, and there was absolutely nothing wrong. Then today the program starts to hang on exit. I have seen this happen with other programs as well, even demos i have downloaded from java.sun.com
Like I said, the programs works fine, just when you exit your stuck.
I have tried both exit methods which have worked fine in the past:
addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter()
public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e)
System.exit(0);
as well as:
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
I believe I set up the exit properly, since it has been working for the last couple of weeks and in all my other projects.
I can't seem to isolate what change to the program caused this. I thought it might just be an increase in size of the program, but even small demos from java.sun.com crash on exit.
If anybody has any ideas why this is happening can you please help me, i would really appreciate it.
I should mention I run Windows XP, and I have j2dsk1.4.1
Thanks in advance for any reply's.
Arie TrouwI have also experienced this problem. The "easiest" way to reproduce it is to get JHotDraw 5.3 and just run up the sample app on Windows XP. Windows XP will hang when you attempt to exit the application(making it difficult to work out exactly what caused the hang). Running under a debugger (Eclipse) the hang is on System.exit, not the window.dispose or anything earlier. I can confirm that this is a problem with
1.4.1-b21 and with
1.4.1_01-b01 (the most recently available download).
I can also confirm that this is not a problem with the 1.3.1_04 or 07 releases.
Using the -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true flag gets rid of the problem for me on 1.4.1_01-b01 (thank you jbisotti). -
How do I call a function using local connection?
I have 3 Flash banners on 1 page that run through a synched animation together. At the end of the animation, there is a replay button in each of the 3 banners. I want the replay button when clicked in any of the banners to call a replay function in all 3 banners. Is there any easy way to do this? Using localconnection?
The banners are already using a local connection for the syching of the animation, if that helps.
Thanks!
ElliottI take it back... I figured it out. I just needed to paste the function below into each of the other banners...
Thanks! :-P -
SAP BPC NW version with SAP Dashboard Design (No Local Connection)
Dear ALL,
I'm working on SAP BPC NW version 10.0 and I'm trying to build some dashboards on it using SAP Dashboard Design.
So, I follow some links online and I failed to proceed at the very beginning stage:
To create a "Local" connection in Excel EPM Add-in.
From the drop down box for the available connection types, I can just see Planning and Consolidation versions for both MS and NW, but nothing called "Local" as referred in those web.
Any ideas?
BR,
AntonyHi Antony,

Cannot get Local Connection, No available resource, Wait-time expired
Hi Friends,
Please answer my queries below.
Thanks and Regards
Busincess Requirement
I have to display a particular set of rows in a dashboard or screen, and it is being refreshed every 1 minute, also user can update from that screen displayed values.
The below program extracts some data from database and passes to the front end through a collection where it is being displayed.
Code Logic Flow
1. CockpitAction calls CockpitOraDAO for database results
2. CockpitOraDAO is a singleton class.
3. After getting the CockpitOraDAO object, the action will then call the getLabAreaCockpitDetails() method.
getLabAreaCockpitDetails will
- Get the Connetion from the OracleConnectionManager class (It is a plain class with getPooledConnection() and releaseConnection() methods).
- Execute the query and put the result to a collection
- close the connection
- return result to the calling action.
This getLabAreaCockpitDetails() are called around once in every 1 minute
So, I believe everytime a call is made to action for cockpit display, it will take the existing object of the CockpitOraDAO class and make a call to database. i.e there will be only one object of CockpitOraDAO reside in application server at any particular interval of time.
My Understandings
1. Only 1 object of CockpitOraDAO will reside in application server (provided it is not user longer and garbage collected) at a particular instance.
2. Many objects of Connection will be created and destroyed.(Each time the getLabAreaCockpitDetails() method is called, we will get one connection from connection pool and in finally the Connection will be released to connection pool).
My Problems
It is showing the "Cannot get Local Connection, No available resource, Wait-time expired"
after running around 1 full day.
My doubts
1. Can anybody say why I get this error ?
2. There may be some connections are not closed. But I have checked at finally block, the status of the connection is closed after calling this method.
3. There may be some problem due to the singleton instane of CockpitOraDAO, Is it affecting performance ?
4. Is it valid that I have to make CockpitOraDAO as Singleton ?
public class CockpitOraDAO extends DAOAdaptor //implements BISample
private static CockpitOraDAO instance=null;
private static boolean debug = true;
* The below method will be used to provide the singleton intance of the CockpitOraDAO object.
public static CockpitOraDAO getInstance()

}Hi,
As you can see from other posts, this is a very common problem. Until now the cause always ends up pointing to a connection not being close.
I suggest you try to run through a full single cycle of you app, while using the CLI monitoting to check that the connections created/closed matches the expected created/closed connections. Also that the number of free connections at the end is correct. -
