RMI application with Java3D

Hi everyone!
I'm working on my thesis, which is an Adventure game with 3d graphics.
The server side creates the universe with all the objects except the player's character. I plan that the client creates the mainframe which could visualize the scene, and put the avatar model too.
Because of the server-client structure, and I want to call some methods, I use RMI for the communication.
When I call the Canvas3D object through the connection I get an exception:
java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Canvas3D does not support serialization
but in the documentation you can see this:
javax.media.j3d
Class Canvas3D
java.lang.Object
|
--java.awt.Component
|
--java.awt.Canvas
|
--javax.media.j3d.Canvas3D
All Implemented Interfaces:
javax.accessibility.Accessible, java.awt.image.ImageObserver, java.awt.MenuContainer, java.io.Serializable !!!!
so what did I wrong?
maybe my english not good enough?
If you have any ideas, or you can present any solution for my problem (how to give the Locale, Canvas3D... to the client) please let me know as soon as possible. Unfortunately the time is so short.

  • Help needed in running the RMI application with multiple clients

    Hi
    I have my RMI application with one server and 6 clients. I keep all the server and client programs in the same directory. When i run the clients, the first 2 clients work properly but when the third or the fourth client starts, it works normally in getting the data and after a while it crashes. If teh third crashes the 4th works and if the 4th crashes the 3rd, 4th and 5th works ...randomly atleast one or 2 clients crash always.
    following is the error message generated for a client named controller:

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

    I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
    In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
    To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
    I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
    It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

    I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
    Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?
    LA$$E

    Jupp,
    It fails in a similar way.
    What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
    When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    [waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]

    DefaultServer startup time: 121552 ms.
    DefaultServer started.
    In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
    [7:20:49 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
    [Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
    But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
    So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
    [7:26:39 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
    [Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
    The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    [waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
    [Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
    The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
    To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
    Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
    I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • RMI security with client authentication

    Hy,
    I'm trying to set a secure RMI application using JSSE and SSL.
    I have succeeded in writing an application with client and server authentication using both an RMISSLServerSocketFactory and RMISSLClientSocketFactory and passing those factories to the server while exporting the remote object.
    The problem is I had to set both server public and private keys and client public and private keys in the custom Socket Factories. This implies that those keys are on the server disk which is problematic for the client private key.
    Is there a way of giving the client private key only when the Client want to contact the server and not when exporting the remote object?
    (I tried to do that using -Djava.net.ssl.keyStore and -Djava.net.ssl.trustStore properties but it doesn't seem to work).
    Thank you for your help

    Even when I haven't wrote RMI over SSL code, I've done that using standard SSL client authentication between a client and a server.
    In that context, I got the SSLSocketFactory by using a SSLContext initialized with the proper TrustManager and KeyManager classes.
    But I guess you can start by specifying from the command line the system properties related to keystores and truststores:
    -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStore=<your keystore pathname>
    -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword=<your keystore password>
    -Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore=<your truststore pathname>
    -Djavax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword=<your truststore password>
    You can also see the RMISSLClientSocketFactory and RMISSLServerSocketFactory provided in the /samples/rmi folder of the JSSE 1.0.3_01 distribution.
    The client factory version uses the default socket factory provided by JSSE, so it can be configured from the properties above.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to configure OC4J using RMI/IIOP with SSL

    Any help?
    I just mange configure the OC4J using RMI/IIOP but base on
    But when I follow further to use RMI/IIOP with SSL I face the problem with: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Unrecognized SSL message, plaintext connection?
    p/s: I use self generate keystore which should be ok as I can use it for https connection.
    Any one can help?
    Below is the OC4J log:

    Good point, I do belive what you are referring to is this:
    Any client, whether running inside a server or not, has EJB security properties. Table 15-2 lists the EJB client security properties controlled by the ejb_sec.properties file. By default, OC4J searches for this file in the current directory when running as a client, or in ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config when running in the server. You can specify the location of this file explicitly with the system property setting -Dejb_sec_properties_location=pathname.
    Table 15-2 EJB Client Security Properties
    Property Meaning
    # oc4j.iiop.keyStoreLoc
    The path and name of the keystore. An absolute path is recommended.
    # oc4j.iiop.keyStorePass
    The password for the keystore.
    # oc4j.iiop.trustStoreLoc
    The path name and name of the truststore. An absolute path is recommended.
    # oc4j.iiop.trustStorePass
    The password for the truststore.
    # oc4j.iiop.enable.clientauth
    Whether the client supports client-side authentication. If this property is set to true, you must specify a keystore location and password.
    # oc4j.iiop.ciphersuites
    Which cipher suites are to be enabled. The valid cipher suites are:
    TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5
    SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5
    TLS_DHE_DSS_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA
    SSL_DHE_DSS_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA
    TLS_RSA_EXPORT_WITH_RC4_40_MD5
    SSL_RSA_EXPORT_WITH_RC4_40_MD5
    TLS_DHE_DSS_EXPORT_WITH_DES40_CBC_SHA
    SSL_DHE_DSS_EXPORT_WITH_DES40_CBC_SHA
    nameservice.useSSL
    Whether to use SSL when making the initial connection to the server.
    client.sendpassword
    Whether to send user name and password in clear form (unencrypted) in the service context when not using SSL. If this property is set to true, the user name and password are sent only to servers listed in the trustedServer list.
    oc4j.iiop.trustedServers
    A list of servers that can be trusted to receive passwords sent in clear form. This has no effect if client.sendpassword is set to false. The list is comma-delimited. Each entry in the list can be an IP address, a host name, a host name pattern (for example, *.example.com), or * (where "*" alone means that all servers are trusted.

  • RMI - doubt with Firewalls using RMI

    Hello everybody,
    We're running a client-server RMI application and we have a NAT enviroment, so we need to know if there is a problem or a limitant if the client's request pass by many firewalls, because we have firewalls in both sides.
    We have read about this and we found it is not possible when there are firewalls at the server side. [http://www.telekinesis.com.au/files/114/file/22/RMIProxy_Guide.pdf]
    So please somebody help me I have a really really big problem with this.
    Thanks in advance.

    You could always buy the product. Disclaimer: I wrote and own it.
    You can also arrange for port forwarding at the server-side firewall.

  • How to find Port numbers used by RMI application

    Hi, hope u all find me a solution, how to find port numbers used in the RMI application, that is port number which the RMI application communicates between RMIserver and RMIclient. ur answers would b highly appreciated

    Currently RMI transport layer does not directly expose any public methods to get the listening ports of the exported RMI objects, but the application can always export RMI server objects at certain designated ports instead of relying on the RMI runtime by specifying them to UnicastRemoteObjcect at the time of exporting.
    RMI transport layer try to optimize the number of listeing sockets by exporting all RMI server objects on a single port if no explicit ports were chosen. If the application is really interested in knowing the listeing ports, it can always specify the client and server socket factories to be used for creating Socket and ServerSocket to the RMI runtime at the time of exporting. When a RMI server object is exported, but the listening socket is not yet created, RMI transport layer invokes the createServerSocket(host, port) of server socket factory by passing the host and port details. If no explicit port is specified, underlying socket implementation choses anonymous port. At this point of time application can log these listeing ports to some log file.
    Similarly when the stub to the remote object is de-serialized in the client address space, it does also contain the client socket factory along with the end point details (host, port and server object ID). RMI runtime in the client address space needs to establish connection with the remote server object, it try to get the socket from client socket factory by invoking createSocket() on the client socket factory. Now the application can call getLocalPort() on the socket before returning it to the RMI transport layer.
    There is a undocumented class RMIStat to dump RMI runtime state information. It provides a lot of static methods to dump RMI state information like object table, transports, threads etc. You can download the source code of this utility from RMI archives, but remember this is not a comman-line utility, you must invoke these static methods as part of the application code.

  • Java Profiler for RMI Applications

    I am looking for a profiler to monitor the bottlenecks and the memory usage when running my RMI application.
    What would you recommend to use and a comprehensive tool

    Couple of thoughts on scaling:
    1. Change the mx setting to 1200m -- this is the most you can scale a single instance on 32-bit
    2. Use a 64-bit platform you can set memory settings really high (AIX/Solaris)
    3. Multiple servers with planning on it using a load balancer

  • RMI application

    Is the java card RMI deprecated?
    I have read on one site it was written RMI-deprecated
    but not much information was provided related to it.
    And also it was written that RMI application cant be tested on emulators.
    Does anyone know any information regarding this?
    As i want to use RMI , i need some help.

    Hi,
    It is worth noting that an RMI client and Applet still communicate with APDU's, it is just that the APDU's are abstracted away from the developer so they do not need to worry about (or even understand) them. As such it is more the RMI framework that would be the issue in testing against an emulator. As far as I am aware, you can use OCF to communicate with the CREF emulator as well and this is the communication layer used by the JCDK RMI host samples.
    Cheers,
    Shane

  • Running RMI applications

    Hi everyone,
    I'm new at RMI and I can't seem to be able to get this right. I followed the following steps in creating a test RMI application:
    1) Create an interface which extends java.rmi.Remote
    2) Code the implementation of this interface which will act as an RMI server (this class extends UnicastRemoteObject and implements the interface created in step 1)
    3) compile these files using javac.exe
    4) create stubs and skeletons for the this RMI server using rmic
    5) create policy security file with the following entries:
    grant {
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "*:1024-65535", "connect,accept";
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "*:80", "connect";
    6) run the rmiregistry utility
    7) run the RMI server using java <classname>
    However, I keep getting the error:
    access denied (java.net.SocketPermission myhost resolve)
    Can anyone tell me what this means? I already place security permission in my policy security file earlier.
    Thanks for any help!

  • How to start a application with a login window?

    hi there
    does anyone have any idea on how to start an application with a login window? a login window is the first frame or window to be displayed when an application starts running. and only correct login id and password have been entered the real application will start. any sample out there? thank you.

    You can start a new thread by making a thread object and passing it an implementation of a runnable object. Runnable has just one method, public void run(), this is was gets executed in a second thread. perhaps the code you would use would look something like this.
    <code>
    // set up thread for login window
    new Thread(new Runnable() {
    public void run() {
    // construct your login window here
    // when you are done processing the
    // password....
    if(goodPassword) {
    authorized = true; // a global variable
    notifyAll(); // don't forget this
    else {
    System.exit(42);
    }).start();
    // control does not stop this code gets executed while
    // the above thread is running.
    // Set up main program here. This is done in the
    // backround.
    while(!authorized) {
    synchronized(this)
    { wait(50); }
    // now when the user logs in this frame pops
    // up real quick.
    myFrame.setVisible(true);
    </code>
    Hope you can figure it out.. good luck :)

    I passed in username and password of account "A" to method "LaunchAppWithElevatedPrivilege", and also the application i want to launch, e.g. "C:\windows\regedit.exe", but when i run the service program, i found it do launch
    "regedit.exe" with elevated account "A", but the content of regedit.exe is pure back. screenshot as below:
    Can anyone help me on this?

    You code is not dealing with the DACL access to Winsta0\Default.  Only the LocalSystem account will have full access and the interactively logged on user which is why regedit is not displaying properly.  You'll need to grant access to your user.
    You also need to deal with UAC since that code is going to give you a non-elevated token via LogonUser().  You need to get the full token via a call to GetTokenInformation() + TokenLinkedToken.
