RMI connection Error: No route to host

hi all,
We are using RMI in our project and We are using different computers on LAN for
server and Client Component,
Both the computers use j2sdk1.4.2_03
But when the client runs it gives the following error:
:java.rmi.ConnectIOException: Exception creating connection to: gridlab26;
nested exception is:
java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host: connect
In this scenario we are just retrieving a String from the server. this
works well on One PC using localhost.
we found that you have encountered such problem earlier and might have
resolved it.
if you have any idea how to correct this problem please help us.
thanks

  • The strangest RMI connection error

    Hi all,
    i have a client server application that uses RMI. The server has the following network configuration. It has 2 network interfaces.
    hostname iface IP netmask
    ====================================
    sakura e1000g0 203.126.56.80 255.255.255.224
    nc_apps5 e1000g1 10.224.100.18 255.255.0.0
    when the server application listens on 203.126.56.80 iface, the client
    has no problem establishing RMI connection from 10.224.10.122 netmask 255.255.0.0
    via a static route with a route in between.
    However when I switched the server over to 10.224.100.18, and connects from the same client ( no configuration change) , i get the error
    [Wed Oct 11 14:38:53 SGT 2006 darkstar] ERROR calling: NetworkTestClient.performTest() called: Naming.lookup() args: rmi://nc_apps5.ncc.shs.com.sg:10000/RMITest

    at sun.rmi.transport.tcp.TCPChannel.createConnection(Unknown Source)
    at sun.rmi.transport.tcp.TCPChannel.newConnection(Unknown Source)
    If anything the second scenario should work, because both the server and the client are in the subnet i.e 10.224.x.x. but it turns to be the opposite. Can anyone
    tell me what gives over here.
    Many Thanks in advance
    Henley from Singapore. National Cancer Center.

    Thanks for pointing that out. its not a mistake. I do not have access to the source of the application. However I am wondering why is the client trying to connect back to itself in the second scenario when its supposed to be connecting to 10.224.100.18. ip of the server.
    Its very strange because the connection was apparently successful when
    the the client tries to connect to 203.126.56.80. instead of 10.224.100.18 i.e no error.
    is there anycode in the RMI that says, if server is in the same ip as me, try connecting to myself first ?
    once again thanks in advance.

  • FTP receiver channel error: No route to host

    Hello,
    I am using a ftp receiver channel and got the following error:
    java.lang.Exception: ftp access error: java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host.
    The following steps are processed right:
    - Connection to FTP-Server "XXXX", Folder "/public_html/external/eh/"
    - Write to FTP-Server "XXXX", Folder "/public_html/external/eh/", file "xyz.xml"
    - Sending: Modus "TXT", Size XXX, Codepage UTF-8
    And then the error occurs.
    It seems that the channel could connect to the server and start sending the data, but then the error occurs.
    Did anybody know this problem?
    Thank you very much
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas -
    Is your FTP server configured for active or passive data connections?  If active, you need SP15.  Before SP15, only passive data connections are supported.

  • Connection issue: No route to host

    Hi all,
    I have a problem with my BPEL process (vers. 10.1.3.4).
    I am trying to call an external web service and I get the following error (I can access the web service just using its URL):
    exception on JaxRpc invoke: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: No route to host
    I have tried pinging the remote server with success, so I should be able to connect (no proxy issue or something like that).
    I have tried looking in the BPEL logs found at:
    <oracle home>/opmn/logs
    <oracle home>/bpel/system/logs
    <oracle home>/bpel/domains/default/logs
    This did not give anything useful either.
    I deploy using JDeveloper. I have checked the proxy settings here - and there are none set.
    Does anybody have any ideas as to what can be wrong?
    Any help or hints will be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Aagaard

    Well it could also mean that from the server which is running your applicationserver the port 18111 is blocked. So I would check with your network-managers if this port is open from your applicationserver. They should check the firewalls (if you have no control on that yourself).
    Often the situation at a customer is that your development pc is at one LAN while your (development, test, acceptance, production) application server is in a datacenter on a different sub-lan. With another fire-wall. From your development PC you need to access internet-http and maybe other protocols. But these are usually forbidden on the datacenter lan. You'll have a separate route from your development lan to the datacenter. Probably the server has 2 NICs: one for the internal network and one connected to the Demilitarized Zone. Within the DMZ probably a proxy/reverseproxy configuration routes the requests from outside to your application server and visa versa. So the proxy should also be checked.
    This should normally the case at a customer-site, even when its a development environment. Because you don't want to have intruders hacking into your systems, even on development. And although you might not care, the dev-env should reflect your prod-env. So it should also use a dmz with a proxy/reverseproxy setup. If it is a setup on your laptop or your home lan your setup might be simpeler. But then again you might have to cope with different firewalls. If it is all on your laptop (using VMWare for example) I would try when temporarly shutdown all Firewalls.
    You told that you did not have a proxy. Does that count for both your dev-pc as well as the application server?

  • WRT300N V1.1 (Firmware Version: v1.51.2) Connection error. Router Problem! pls help

    Hi,
    I am having a problem with my linksys router. When i connect from my modem>linksys router>wired/wirelesss computer, i am unable to connect to the internet, but my connection shows 100%(excellent). So, i tried to connect my wired computer directly to my modem, the internet is working perfectly!
    So i tried to reset the router, by holding the reset button for 30seconds. and then re-config my router setting.  Finally, the internet is working. But when i wake up the next day, and tried to switch on the internet, the router can't work again.
    SO i reset it again.It worked. But failed during the next few hours/days.
    PLEASE Help me!  I do not always wish to reset my router again and again. i will really appreciate your HELP????

    Reduce the MTU value to 1300 and click on save settings on the setup page of the router and check.

  • NAT error:  UDP OK but TCP = no route to host

    I recently did a firmware update on my Airport Express and I think something has changed which is affecting file transfer speed. A NAT test shows UDP listen port 6881 is OK but when testing TCP listen port 6881 I get the following message:
    NAT error: No route to host (173.19.148.196:6881)
    I have Mediacom Cable and their provided modem is Touchstone Telephony Modem and my Airport Express is plugged into it to provide me a wireless connection (it has an IP address of 10.0.1.1).
    I have a MacBook 4,1 Intel Core 2 Duo and run OS X v. 10.5.6. In Security settings my Firewall is OFF.
    Can someone explain to me what I need to do to open the TCP port? Also, what is a UDP connection?
    Thank you

    i had the same problem.
    and i did the following steps
    on vuze program
    1) vuze -> preferences -> incoming tcp listen port (example 50123)
    2) set the same port on UDP
    after that you have to open tcp protocol (NAT -> virtual server) ... on your router and set start port as the same port as you already set in vuze (ex. 50123)... and an end port (ex. 50124)
    be careful as local ip address, you have to set the same ip in the tcp protocol settings with the ip that your macbook uses to connect to the internet. you can find the ip on system preferences --> web--> and get the information.
    I hope to help you and others with the same problem!

  • Remote RSS Feed consumption - no route to host

    Hi all, I tried to embed an external RSS feed but always get the error that Service SS_GET_PAGE and Function getRssFeedForUrl cannot be performed due to System Error : No route to host. I guess that the server needs a proxy setting in order to connect to the external proxy. I cannot figure out how to configure the content server to retrieve those external URLs. Is there a specific config file to set the proxy value or do I have to set the proper environment variable on Linux (that was my first guess but I did not succeed). Thanks for any hint.

    That could mean one of two things: either the default route is not set on the host giving this error message or IP packets destined to the target host can not be routed due to network misconfiguration.

  • Invoking Partner link bpel gives "exception on JaxRpc.....No route to host"

    Hi,
    I have developed a bpel process on oracle soa suite 10g; which invokes a webservice;
    The webservice method is getting invoked properly by SOAP-UI but the bpel process fails to invoke the same method and gives the following error:
    exception on JaxRpc invoke: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: No route to host: connect
    Kindly let me know how did you resolved this issue.
    In one of the threads(URL given below); I learned that its because I don't have access to the port from the BPEL server .
    If that is the issue then how do I resolve that.
    Re: Connection issue: No route to host
    Regards,
    Anurag

    also check for firewalls on the server - a good test would be to an attempt to telnet into webservice hostname and portnumber from the SOA Server.

  • No route to host:connect -- error in the struts-config.xml file

    hi all,
    acutally am doing a struts application in that i have written everything properly
    but getting this kinda no route to host:connect error
    my struts-config.xml file is like this...
    <struts-config>
    <form-beans>
    <form-bean name="myForm" type="MyForm">
    </form-beans>
    <action-mappings>
    <action path="/action"
                   name="myForm"
                   type="MyAction"
                   scope="request"
                   validate="true" >
                   <forward name="success" path="/success.jsp" />
                   <forward name="failure" path="/failure.jsp" />
         </action>
    </action-mappings>
    </struts-config>
    sikandar

    Hi Lee,
    I am working on Oracle ADF 10.1.2 and getting the same problem. The lines in my struts-config.xml are as below:
    <action path="/unitsView" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="view.UnitsViewAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/unitsView.uix" unknown="false">
    <set-property property="modelReference" value="unitsViewUIModel"/>
    <forward name="unitsEditLink" path="/unitsEdit.do"/>
    </action>
    <action path="/unitsView" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="view.UnitsViewAction" name="DataForm" parameter="/unitsView.uix" unknown="false">
    <set-property property="modelReference" value="unitsViewUIModel"/>
    <forward name="unitsCreateLink" path="/unitsCreate.do"/>
    </action>
    I have two lines with [action path="/unitsView"]. The reason why is that I want the user to go to the form create screen for the create button and form edit screen for the edit button. If this does not work, it seems to mean that only a single screen can be used for create/edit functions. However, the ADF editor diagram looks perfectly to point to create.uix and edit.uix respectively.
    Please shed some light.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Michael

    After completeing 3.1 in the installation guide I jump down to chapter 4, but I can't get the web interface to work.

    Problem located (as usual after the 3 hours it took me to find the forum and post about it).
    Using netstat and lsof I found that XE not only binds to 1521 and 8080, but also to port 33172 and since iptables blocks everything it got "No route to host".
    The question is if 33172 is static or just a randomly chosen port number.

  • Test connection failed for resource(s): AD: == No route to host\n

    Hi, First of all I would like to tell you that the application was running fine few days back, this issue has come suddenly.
    I am getting following error while doing connection test for AD with SUN IDM:
    Test connection failed for resource(s): AD: ==> No route to host\n
    and when I try to open the detail for windows active directory arrow mark from the resource tab, Its giving me below error:
    Error iterating over objects ==> com.waveset.util.WavesetException: ==>java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host
    I tried to google on this but all are pointing to some network/firewall problem.
    Can anybody suggest me the correction ways to resolve this problem. Any idea how I can proceed further.
    Thanks,
    Jimmy

    First of all, I dont know if you even done the proper fault elimination
    No route to host is indicative of a network problem that could be based on several different faults.
    Simplest way to check, log in to the system running your IdM.
    first check if your nameservice is working
    nslookup <your fully qualified hostname for the AD gateway>
    idmmgr@unix103a:$ nslookup idm-gw.company.com
    Server:         139.188.2.1
    Address:        139.188.2.1#53
    idm-gw.company.com canonical name = win050a.company.com.
    Name:   win050a.company.com
    Address: 171.39.88.145if you get the right response there
    try pinging the returned address
    idmmgr@unix103a:$ ping 171.39.88.145
    171.39.88.145 is aliveIf you have a routing problem it will probably show above...
    if the route to the gateway works, it might be the gateway that cant talk to the AD
    Just follow the track manually and if it stops working from one point, go past that point (if you can) and see if it works beyond it.
    Either way, whatever resource is pointed out in the connectinfo in the pertinent adaptor or connector should work from the prompt of the system running it, if not, then you can start unraveling it from there.

  • Pppoe connection failed.  no route to host

    Hi.
    I'm using airport express for my wifi setup. I'm connected with no problems. The built in ethernet is NOT connected and has an idle status.
    Every now and then, (I'm not sure what triggers it), I would get a popup window saying "PPPoE connection failed. No route to host."
    Note that this would popup even though I am already currently surfing the net and the airport wifi connection is NOT dropped or reset.
    I suspect that this is being triggered by the built in ethernet. Before I switched over to the airport express, I've never encountered this popup.
    Is there some setting I need to configure so that I no longer get this false error message?
    thanks
