RMS Question?

My application is using RMS.
If I am installing a new version of my application, what will happen to the previous record store?
Regards,
Kannabiran.

But some devices are not informing users, in that case what will happen? Do you always increment the MIDlet-Version in the JAD?
Can we reuse the RMS if it is available in the Device and its created by the previous version of my application?Yes MIDlet suits can use record stores created by previous version of the MIDlet suite.

  • Questions about RMS

I am trying to learn about storing data for my application and a few questions came up. (application for a standard cell phone)
    Is RMS the only alternative?
With RMS, how can you store things, can you store pure objects in some way? Because if you cant, i didnt find serialization in the API and how can I then serialize objects?

  • DC/RMS value of waveform question!

    Hello,
This would probably a very common question, but I hav a DAQmx system sampling 1000 AI samples at 1000Hz. I would like to get the DC value of each and individual point of this waveform.
when i use the Basic DC/RMS.vi and write the data to a file using Write to Measurement File.vi, i do not observe 1000samples in 1 sec.
    however, i observe only 1 sample/sec, because the loop frequency now becomes 1000samples/1000Hz = 1 sample/sec..
is there a way that I can write all the 1000samples in 1 sec to file? Any other vi or logic?
any help would be appreciated... thanks

That may be a much more complicated question.
    1. You have a high frequency signal.  Does this signal have a DC component or are you just interested in the total RMS value?
The signal does have a DC component in it, and that's what I am interested in...
Is the time varying part of the signal periodic?
Ideally, it should not be, but I am observing a periodic pattern in the output waveform,.
Do you know the period or frequency?
Yes, it is around 20Khz, (that's what is the input to the signal)
    2. What kind of conditioning does your signal conditioner do?
This is a signal conditioner for AC lvdt, made by Analog Devices AD598. performs the calculation based on ratiometric type of signal conditioning, where, Vout = (Va-Ab)/(Va+Vb), Va and Vb are the voltages
out of secondary of LVDT, input freq to the LVDT is 10KHz at the pri, 3Vrms
Does it rectify and filter the signal? Does it do a true RMS covnversion or is it average responding but calibrated for RMS for sinusoidal signals? Does it do the kind of signal processing you want?
It does rectify internally, there is a precision full wave rectifier inside the signal conditioner, so, I am assuming there should not be any further signal processing required once the signal is outputted from the chip.
    3. Are you trying to measure the signal coming out of the signal conditioner or are you trying to measure teh original signal and produce an output after software signal porcessing which is similar to what the signal conditioner produces?
I am trying to measure the signal out of the signal conditioner.

  • Question about Averaged DC-RMS for N Chans

    hi,all
I am using Averaged DC-RMS.vi to filter random noise from waveforms. When
I input only one channel waveform, it works ok. like follow:

    Any suggestion would be appreciate!!

    Hi
I`m having a problem. I`ve been triying to plot diferent signals in matlab which has and hasn´t averaged dc-rms in my program of acquisition data in LabView 7.1, but i can´t see them because they have diferent size in their data and i need to compare each other with and without  averaged  dc-rms running in the same task. I`ll apreciate your help.

  • Question about RMS.

    Hi all.
I'm a beginner in J2ME. So, can you tell me the way RMS stores data ?
When I create .jar file. Is the data RMS stored attached to that .jar file ?
    For example:
A mobile game -> save High Scores. When we run that game, High Scores
    will be loaded.

  • PXI 2527 & PXI 4071 -Questions about EMF considerations for high accuracy measurements and EMF calibration schemes?

    Hi!
I need to perform an in-depth analysis of the overall system accuracy for a proposed system. I'm well underway using the extensive documentation in the start-menu National Instruments\NI-DMM\ and ..\NI-Switch\ Documenation folders...
While typing the question, I think I partially answered myself while cross-referencing NI documents... However a couple of questions remain:
If I connect a DMM to a 2 by X arranged switch/mux, each DMM probe will see twice the listed internal "Differential thermal EMF" at a typical value of 2.5uV and a max value of less than 12uV (per relay). So the total effect on the DMM uncertainty caused by the switch EMF would be 2*2.5uV = 5uV? Or should these be added as RSS: = sqrt(2.5^2+2.5^2) since you can not know if the two relays have the same emf?
Is there anything that can be done to characterize or account for this EMF (software cal, etc?)?
    For example, assuming the following:
    * Instruments and standards are powered on for several hours to allow thermal stability inside of the rack and enclosures
    * temperature in room outside of rack is constant
Is there a reliable way of measureing/zeroing the effect of system emf? Could this be done by applying a high quality, low emf short at the point where the DUT would normally be located, followed by a series of long-aperture voltage average measurements at the lowest DMM range, where the end result (say (+)8.9....uV) could be taken as a system calibration constant accurate to the spec's of the DMM?
What would the accuracy of the 4071 DMM be, can I calculate it as follows, using 8.9uV +-700.16nV using 90 days and 8.9uV +- 700.16nV + 150nV due to "Additional noise error" assuming integration time of 1 (aperture) for ease of reading the chart, and a multiplier of 15 for the 100mV range. (Is this equivalent to averaging a reading of 1 aperture 100 times?)
So, given the above assumptions, would it be correct to say that I could characterize the system EMF to within  8.5uV+- [700.16nV (DMM cal data) + 0.025ppm*15 (RMS noise, assuming aperture time of 100*100ms = 10s)] = +-[700.16nV+37.5nV] = +- 737.66nV? Or should the ppm accuracy uncertainties be RSS as such: 8.5uV +- sqrt[700.16nV^2 + 37.5nV^2] = 8.5uV +-701.16nV??
As evident by my above line of thought, I am not at all sure how to properly sum the uncertainties (I think you always do RSS for uncertainties from different sources?) and more importantly, how to read and use the graph/table in the NI 4071 Specifications.pdf on page 3. What exactly does it entail to have an integration time larger than 1? Should I adjust the aperture time or would it be more accurate to just leave aperture at default (100ms for current range) and just average multiple readings, say average 10 to get a 10x aperture equivalent?
The below text includes what was going to be the post until I think I answered myself. I left it in as it is relevant to the problem above and includes what I hope to be correct statements. If you are tired of reading now, just stop, if you are bored, feel free to comment on the below section as well.
The problem I have is one of fully understanding part of this documenation. In particular, since a relay consists of (at least) 2 dissimilar metal junctions (as mentioned in the NI Switch help\Fundamentals\General Switching Considerations\Thermal EMF and Offset Voltage section) and because of the thermo-couple effect (Seebeck voltage), it seems that there would be an offset voltage generated inside each of the relays at the point of the junction. It refeers the "Thermocouple Measurements" section (in the same help document) for further details, but this is where my confusion starts to creep up.
In equation (1) it gives the expression for determining E_EMF which for my application is what I care about, I think (see below for details on my application).
What confuses me is this: If my goal is to, as accurately as possible, determine the overall uncertainty in a system consisting of a DMM and a Switch module, do I use the "Differential thermal EMF" as found in the switch data-sheet, or do I need to try and estimate temperatures in the switch and use the equation?
*MY answer to my own question:
By carefully re-reading the example in the thermocouple section of the switch, I realized that they calculate 2 EMF's, one for the internal switch, calculated as 2.5uV (given in the spec sheet of the switch as the typical value) and one for the actual thermocouple. I say actual, because I think my initial confusion stems from the fact that the documenation talks about the relay/switch junctions as thermocouples in one section, and then talks about an external "probe" thermocouple in the next and I got them confused.
As such, if I can ensure low temperatures inside the switch at the location of the junctions (by adequate ventilation and powering down latching relays), I should be able to use 2.5uV as my EMF from the switch module, or to be conservative, <12uV max (from data sheet of 2527 again).
I guess now I have a hard time believeing the 2.5uV typical value listed.. They say the junctions in the relays are typically an iron-nickel alloy against a copper-alloy. Well, those combinations are not explicitly listed in the documenation table for Seebeck coefficients, but even a very small value, like 0.3uV/C adds up to 7.5uV at 25degC. I'm thinking maybe the table values in the NI documentation reffers to the Seebeck values at 25C?

Seebeck EMV needs temperature gradients , in your relays you hopefully have low temperature gradients ... however in a switching contact you can have all kind diffusions and 'funny' effects, keeping them on same temperature is the best you can do.
Since you work with a multiplexer and with TCs, you need a good Cold junction ( for serious calibrations at 0°C ) and there is the good place for your short cut to measure the zero EMV. Another good test is loop the 'hot junction' back to the cold junction and observe the residual EMV.  Touching (or heating/cooling) the TC loop gives another number for the uncertainty calculation: the inhomogeneous material of the TC itself..
A good source for TC knowledge:
Manual on the use of thermocouples in temperature measurement,
    ASTM PCN: 28-012093-40,
    ISBN 0-8031-1466-4

of how many facts are presented herein and regardless of the percentage
    retained,
all will be for naught unless one simple important fact is
    kept firmly in mind.
The thermocouple reports only what it "feels."
This may or may not the temperature of interest'

  • A problem about the policy of RMS which is added more than 500 principals

    Hello specialists ,
I've a question about RMS , when I added more than about 500 principals (users & groups ) into a policy in the RMS , it will report an error for any operation about the policy , and I find the error message as followed (for theconvenience, I paste all of the logs in the weblogic).
We have tested all of our environments : Weblogic , JBoss , Websphere , each of them  makes the same mistake . those operations include : try to open the documents protected by this kind of policies , to disable or enable the policies, to look the detail from the "adminui" . when decreasing the principals for this kind of policy to almost 450 (I am not sure the clearly number) with java code , the results will be ok .
So anyone can help me ? It's really very important for us , becuase our customer refused to pay the left money of this project till this problem is resolved . and I have reported this problem to the Enterprise Support in Indian (the case is :181916446), but , obviously , it seems they are burning my patience  . At the same time , I think it's a problem of the product , I think the SQL is really very bad ,at least , not so good .
Any help will be very appreciated !

  • Questions on MIDP Security

    Hi all,
I've a few questions on MIDP security to seek help:
    1) Suppose I have a midlet to store confidential details on the mobile phone, if it doesn't make any connections to the internet, would anyone be able to retrieve the information I'd on the RMS?
    2) Again, assuming no internet connection is made by the midlet. Suppose I've a login screen that prompts for a password & uses MD5. Can anyone crack it?
    3) Is it possible to retrieve the midlet from the mobile phone itself onto a desktop?
    Thanks for the help!

Yes, it is possible to retrieve the data stored in
    RMS.
Just try it on a Nokia S60 phone:
    1. download and install FExplorer (free file
    explorer)
    2. go to: c:\system\midp\<vendor>\untrusted\<midlet
    name>\<?????> folder
    3. select rms.db
    3. choose options/send/SMS|MMS|e-mail|bluetooth|irda
Of course cracking is a harder work...does this means that I can follow your step 1 & goto whichever midlet that I'm interested in & send the JAR/JAD file via SMS/MMS/Email/BlueTooth/IRDA?

  • Office 2013 and RMS restrict permission

    Hi,
I want to restrict Access/modify/view access to documents for some users, and I'm able to do this with Word 2010, but not with Word 2013.
When I try to restrict access using "restrict Editing" under file information I got the this error:
"We were not able to find the information Rights Management Template. Please contact your administrator."
Then I use Rights Protected Folder and things worked fine with me as shown below.
And my question is how to use RMS with Office 2013 without the plugin?
Note: Templates are shown in Office 2013 normally and it is updated

    Hi AmirMahouk,
Protecting Word 2013 file with RMS templates/manuall permissions is performed in very similar way to Word 2010:
    Document cannot be empty (blank)
Go to File > Info > Protect Document > Restrict Access > Restricted Access.
Select "restrict permission to this document"
Provide emails of the users you want to protect documet for in Read or in Change fields. You can choose additional options clicking "More Options" button.

  • Error occur while protecting the document using RMS sharing application

The set-up in which the error occurs has the following details,
    Server name :    hcdc1.ad.com
    RMS SCP :            adrms.ad.com
    http:// adrms.ad.com /_wmcs/licensing/license.asmx
    http:// adrms.ad.com /_wmcs/certification/certification.asmx
Unable to protect the document and error as "An internall error occured error code 0X8007054F"

    Hi,
What Office Suite version you use? If Office 2010, I suggest you uninstall RMS Sharing App and install it once again using following command:
    setup.exe /s /configureO2010Admin
After that, run one of the following commands, depending on you operating system:
    For Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, 64-bit: x64\aadrmprep.exe /configureO2010  ; 32-bit: X86\aadrmprep.exe /configureO2010
    For Windows 7, 64-bit: x64\win7\aadrmpep.exe /configureO2010

  • Question about SUM in SQL query

I have a SQL ststement which is listed below along with it's output.
For the NUM_REQ column, I am expecting to get the number 832 because the pm_requirements_table contains 16 records and they all have a frequency of WEEKLY.
    16 * 52 = 832. The query returns 12480 which I can see that it is multiplying the 832 by 15 which is the number of entries in the lpm table 16 * 52 * 15 = 12480.
I need the lpm table in there for other reasons, so my question is how can I get it to return 832 and still have the lpm table as part of the query.
    Thanks,
    George

What can be the possible solution to have the vendor created in RMS ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amol

    Amol,
Please give answers to following questions,
1.) What is the version of ORMS & OFA which you are using?
2.) Did any Vendor flow to RMS successfully before or this is the 1st instance?
3.) Are you using BPEL as integration tool?
4.) If you are using BPEL, what is the Set of Books ID set in the deployment descriptor for Vendor process and is it same as the Set of Books set in ORMS and also the Set of Books ID to which this Vendor belongs to?

  • Question: Looking for honest Opinions, Audiophile answers!

I am interested in purchasing a PCIE audiophile sound card (for speaker/headset listed below), i have been using only on board sound on all my builds but i am interested in giving it a try for watching videos and gaming/ listening to music while gaming (overall better enjoyment/experience)
<font>Asus Xonar STX VS <font>Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD
Personally speaking i dont care for audio recording ect or voice changing options, i have heard the Creative card (Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD) is great for gaming and voice communication while gaming.
There is a deal right now for the "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD" <font>For $9 + freeshipping, I beli've it has an amplifier, but i do enjoy using headphones while gaming and on ventrillo ect with friends (and as far as i can see the amplifier does not work on headphones?) with the creative.
Asus Xonar STX specifically states it has a headphone amplifier, and am curious the difference in sound from anyone who has heard or tried either of the two.
I am currently using somewhat meh speakers and a somewhat decent but not TOP/Highest quality headphones
    Speakers: Creative T20 2.0 Speakers
    HeadPhone: Creative Fatality MkII Headset
I dont plan on purchasing new speakers or headphones, the speakers are never really used for blasting sound, usually use my headphones due to living close to neighbors.
My main question is the quality difference, especially on headphones, does the amp on the headphones really make a huge difference
The only thing i have against the creative card is that it has no amp for headphones i believe, i am curious how crap my headphones would sound on creative compared to the asus, if any?

Not that it really matters for your phones; 32 Ohms will run on anything?
In terms of volume - yes. But in terms of quality and proper prequency response - no. In fact its harder to dri've low impedance HP than high. And Titanium HD is better at this than ASUS's card.
Still its a good idea to upgrade headphones to something better.

If the card isn't shielded, you'll still hear activity on your video card as a buzzing whine in the background anyway
    Titanium HD
Isn't shielded (Creative never advertised this as an EMI shield), and still I cant hear any noise from card's jack. All this EMI shielding is just another marketing BS. Almost all interference comes from power sources and from ground. This must be dealt with apropriate voltage regulators and capacitors. And Creative has done this job. I was able to hear buzz produced by video card under heavy load only from computer chassis front panel jack. In typical PC chassis metal works as shared ground for all internal components and "absorbs" all "dirt". Cutting ground connection from front panel jack to chassis metal parts solved this problem.

  • AD RMS 2008R2 - Export not getting disabled

Hi, We've setup AD RMS in our environment. We use Office 2010 as IRM clients.
Everything is working fine apart from one thing.
I need to give users permission to edit and save and excel document but not Save As. I created a template for this and when the document opens under "View Permisions" it  shows as "Export(Save as)" disabled. But the save as functionality
is still there and works fine too.
    Can someone share some insights.
    Thank you,
    Darshan

    Hi Darshan,
This is exactly what I wanted write. If you have save permissions, you have also save as permissions :) Also, please have in mind that it doesn't matter if you export (save as) your file as it is already protected and only authorized people get access to
    its content.

  • Tuxedo, TMS, threads and X/Open RMs

    Hi!
I would be very interested in knowing how Tuxedo manages Xids when connecting to an external Resource Manager. Essentially I am trying to create an X/Open DTP compliant Resource Manager to an external System, using the Tuxedo option of creating a shared library under Solaris, with a linkable xa_switch structure.
In association with this effort I have been told that at least two TMSes have to be configured/built on the Tuxedo side and that these TMSes will use the RM in a threaded manner. This would mean that they would share transactions in a losely coupled way: that is the threads will use different Xids, but access the same transaction in parallel. This would lead to the assumption that one would need to synchronize access to the transaction - typically by using mutexes.
My question is simple: if the TMS threads se different XIDs - how is the RM to identify the fact that they are using the same global transaction?
Would the treads use the same global transaction identifier, but different branch transaction identifier, perhaps? This would explain one thing or two.
Any insight would be very much appreciated!
    Kind Regards

    Johan,
Tuxedo does make use of branch IDs when passing XIDs to a resource manager.
Within any particular group, the same branch ID is used for all application
servers and TMS servers within that group, which means that Resource Manager
locks can be shared between the servers in a group. (There need to be at
least 2 TMS servers per group because certain XA operations can block in the
RM, and one TMS needs to be dedicated to performing only nonblocking XA
operations in order to avoid deadlocks.)
A different branchID is used for each Tuxedo group in which work is
performed for a particular global transaction identifier. This means that
if the same RM is associated with two different Tuxedo groups, a server in
one group may not be able to share database locks with a server operating on
the same transaction in another group, which can lead to deadlocks in some
cases. (Usually, all of the servers associated with a particular database
are in one group and different groups are used for different RMs. Multiple
groups per RM can be used, but then there is loose coupling and two groups
may need to be involved at commit time instead of one.)
Tuxedo does need to lock its global transaction table for brief periods
during transaction processing to update shared data, but locks on this table
are not held throughout a transaction. Resource managers do need to lock
data that has been updated during a transaction until the transaction is
committed or rolled back, and some resource manager consistency levels will
also lock data that has been read for the duration of the transaction.
