Roadmap Maintenance XI R2

Please,
Could you indicate me if a roadmap document exist which indicate several upgrade (Fix Pack, Service Pack, CHF) for XI R2 ?
What is the last version ugrade possible for configuration BOXI R2 serveur Windows with client Desktepo Intelligence ? Is Business Object XIR2 FP5.7 serveur / client ?

I would like to find a sap document which describe each fix pack availble for each service packs and links between them
Ex:
XIR2 2.2 ....  FP2.6            FP2.7
XIR2 2.3       FP3.1  ...       FP3.3
XIR2 2.4
XIR2 2.5
In this example, FP2.6 is in FP 3.1, FP2.7 is in FP 3.3

  • Visual Composer 7.0 roadmap

    Hello experts,
We have NetWeaver EP 7.0 installed with Visual Composer in our C&B and DEV environment. We haven't started developing with it yet.
    My questions to you is:
What is the future of Visual Composer 7.0?
My understanding is that SAP has put a lot of energy integrating Visual Composer into CE 7.1. This new version has significant changes compare to it's predecessor. Visual Composer for CE 7.1 seems to be the way to go if one needs to create applications based on existing data services. In short terms, both versions will coexist. Bbut in long terms...?
Can anyone help me find the Visual Composer roadmap?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Nathalie

    Hi,
This is a quote from the Visual Composer main page on SDN: (/people/jarrod.williams/blog/2009/09/14/whats-new-in-visual-composer)
    "_Visual Composer 7.0_
In light of the progress made relating to parity between Visual Composer 7.0 and Visual Composer CE, our investment in Visual Composer 7.0 will be limited to maintenance after the release of enhancement package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0. We are confident that with the provisions made for migration to Visual Composer 7.1 enhancement package 1 or Visual Composer 7.2 and the great feature set in Visual Composer for enhancement package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0, our existing customers running Visual Composer 7.0 will enjoy the best of both worlds: the option to upgrade to Visual Composer 7.2 or to stay with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0."
I'll stress the last part, though VC on CE is a great version, staying with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0 is also good, depending on your needs of course, for instance - the attractive Flash runtime which is currently exclisive for VC 7.0, the "Flash Components" feature that was entered on SP5 of 7.01 (and in 7.02) , which enables you to consume custom 3rd party flash components or Xcelsius controls inside Visual Composer,, which makes flash black-boxes easier to consume than in CE, .. etc..
still - VC on CE of course has it's own advantages - the ability to consume clustered services, life-cycle management, it's intergration with the other CE components etc..
and so if you'll find that VC 7.0 is not enough, you could always upgrade and migrate to the CE versions (7.1 or 7.2).
bottom line - it's a win win situation.

  • Oracle roadmap for Interactive Reporting

    Hello Gurus,
This is just an opinion I need from you guys.
Currently, there is System 9.3.1 in which only Interactive Reporting is in use.  Now, client has decided to migrate from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.2.
I was just going through Oracle roadmap for IR. I am just confused about future of IR. It seems Oracle is not much enhancing IR in EPM product suite.   Rather they are improving IR through OBIEE.
This is a case where client is using only IR from Hyperion product suite & want to migrate the same.
         What is better path?
Hyperion 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.2 or  Hyperion 931 to OBIEE ?
If its better from 931 to OBIEE, what are high level steps?  Also how can we migrate Users, provisioning , reports to OBIEE?
Please correct me if I am going wrong here.
    Thanks.

It comes down to an issue of maintaining compatibility with current software versus having a product that actually works.
    I upgraded from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1 (On MS Windows Server 2008 R2/SQL Server 2008 R2/Windows 7 64-bit).  Here are the changes:
IR will now export to a version of Excel that's 10 years old (.xlsx) rather than 20 years old (.xls from Excel 2).
Service management is done through the web and is at a finer grain.  This really simplifies service management.  The small services restart very quickly so I am comfortable restarting one at lunch rather than waiting for a maintenance window.
Names of functions have been made more obvious and meaningful (for example, you can now open a job instead of retrieving it).  This is a plus and a minus.  If you have been using the system for a while you'll initially have trouble finding things.
The new version is incapable of handling non-trivial queries developed in the UI.  Several documents developed in 9.3.1 and 9.3.3 using derivable queries and append queries work fine.  The inevitable minor changes required as business adapts to the world, however, are not possible.  For queries of any complexity, IR sends the aliases (like the names of the queries seen in the section list) to the SQL Server.  Of course, SQL Server can't find objects with those names so the queries fail.  My solution is to use stored procedures.  At that point, I can migrate to any other (non-Oracle) product, so I'm actually happy they've pushed me in that direction.
For large local results queries, the system will run out of memory if the query is run with UAC turned on and logged on as a non-admin user.  Oracle says this is because the new version has more features and, therefore, uses more RAM.  Oddly enough, the queries run fine when run as an admin with UAC turned off because they don't use as much RAM.  It looks more like a compatibility problem than more features.  Again, my solution was to push the work to SQL Server by developing stored procedures.
I was testing 11.1.2.2 while planning an upgrade and found:
There are more new bugs than the bugs that are fixed.
No IE10 compatibility (documented).  Since we're skipping IE9 and moving straight to IE10, my main reason for upgrading (IE9) is gone.  IE10 compatibility should be in 11.1.2.3 near Christmas 2013.
Recommendation:  TEST EXTENSIVELY.  Paint a clear picture for management showing that newer isn't necessarily better.

  • BPS / IP / Outlook soft Roadmap

    hello Every body,
Is someone knows the roadmap for all those products ??
End of BPS maintenance, Outlook soft availability in SAP , futur of IP in this contexte ??
no tool is available to migrate BPS custo into IP, I would like to be sure we are not wasting customer money on IP if everything has to move again to a new technology soon ( at least before BPS end of maintenance !)
    many thanks
    JL

    Hi,
    Jean-Louis, hope you're doing well!
Additionally to the blog mentioned by our friend Prakash, some elements to answer your question:
    1. BI IP is the current offering in the Netweaver stack, development teams are working on it, there is no change for the development of this product.
    2. There is clearly a value proposition around BI IP for customer requiring a strong BI Integration, highly centralized planning processes and multiple locations deployment.
    3. The converged offering between BI IP and BPC will try to secure the investment in both technologies starting with the 8.0 release. More details to come on that topic.
The big deal around this discussion is to find out the best value proposition around SAP BPC and BI IP for each customer case. But there is space for both!
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers

  • What is the roadmap for BI-IP product w.r.t BPC

is it true that BPC will replace or serve the same function as BI-IP?
    IF SO,
what is the rationale for such quick product replacement and what is the future direction for this planning product IP?
not long ago there is BW3.5 . then came BI 7 recently and that comes with IP, and now BPC in such a short span of time?
    please share your views.

    Hi,
First of all I would like to recommend you the relvant forum for all topics related to CPM:
You might get your answers refering to BPC and/or CPM more quickly and more precise at this forum:
Expert Forums » Business Process Expert » Corporate Performance Management
I welcome you to have a look there.
I did a quick research there and I found some information which might be interesting for you. You can find more about this at the following blog:

    Recommendations to existing customers
2007-07-10 20:35:28 Muthu Ranganathan Business Card Reply
As indicated earlier to another response in the blog, SAP would continue to support BPS,as per the existing maintenance arrangements. As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, BI Integrated Planning (BI-IP) replaced BPS, so BPS is no longer being developed any further.Development plans for BI Integrated Planning will be unchanged by the OutlookSoft acquisition as BI-IP will continue to be SAP’s long-term planning infrastructure.SAP Strategy Management is SAP’s strategic nextgeneration
product in that category(scorcarding/strategy). However SAP would continue to support BSC as per the existing maintenance arrangements.
Some additional elements to each of the question:
    1. Do we stop all new development in these products and start utilizing the new CPM product offerings right away?
If you already have implemented element of SEM, the maintenance allows you based on a SEM 6.0 (mySAP ERP 2005) to work on maintained product until 2013. Applications of the CPM suite are of course the recommended path for new customer, however, as each customer situation is different, I would recommend to use your local SAP contact to discuss these issues.
    2. Do we continue new development in the old products and convert in the future (when the new CPM suite has stabilized and SAP has stopped further acquisitions)?
Each products of the CPM suite are now available in a stabilized and mature version, however the integration and Netweaver as a unified platform is not available. So it is more about integration than about stabilization. For more insight on the SAP roadmap again get in touch with your SAP contact.
    3. Do we stop all new development in these products and use alternative SAP products like BI integreted planning, Visual composer etc. which are more mature than the new CPM products and are not scheduled for obsolesence like SEM and BPS? Then in the future we migrate to the new CPM suite when it is stabilized?
BI integrated Planning and Visual Composer are part of the technical infrastructure in Netweaver, whereas CPM elements are Application designed for performance management and with business user centric concepts. Again these products are fully matured and stabilized and the roadmap of the CPM group is to unify the technology platform and get the convergence of all Planning and Consolidation tools.
    Thanks
    ++++++++++++
So I hope I could help you at least a bit,
    Best regards,
    Felix

  • From Classic Planning Maintenance to BPM Architect

    Hi,
I'm Working w/ Planning 9.3.0.1 using classic maintenance (Mappings, Data and Medata Loads using DIM). I'd like to start using BPM architect because of its multiple features such as data synchronization. The service is currently stoped. I'd like to know what happens once I start the service. Can I still go back to classic maintenance? Do I need to import the current dimension hierachies to BPM architect for future maintenance? What are the steps and implications involved?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kloh

    Hi,
I've been using EPMA ever since it's been released. It felt too stranger in the beginning as it was too buggy to use in early releases and also it was an entirely new way of creating your dimensions and application. However, as the time passed, I've seen it getting rid of all the bugs gradually and having new features in every new release. I wouldn't really want to go back to using classic application as its advantages for me are too great to just dismiss it. As Oracle and Hyperion put, this is the strategic way forward in the product roadmap anyway.
AlpI have to disagree on this one, I am not a fan and it has not been welcomed too highy in the UK, a number of large projects have had to be shelved due to instabilities and problems.
Ok, it is a product that has potential and if it was going to be maintained by business users, at present there are so many flaws, badly designed repository, a .net product mixed with Java when on the main hyperion products were going down the Java route, it has to run on windows, its interface tables are just a waste of time, its import files are not user friendly....
    I could go on :)

  • UI Personalization Roadmap

    Hi,
I'm not sure whether this topic belongs in this forum but I
couldn't find another forum that addresses Flex and related user
interface control personalization. If anyone knows of a better
    forum please let me know.
    Question / Discussion
I'd need to understand the current position Adobe has on UI
personalization when building an application based on the
    Flex/Flash framework.
We'd like to move our product to Flex/Flash but the solution
must permit a user to personalize our user interface and save the
changes made. From both a business & developer perspective, we
want to concentrate on our business solution rather than build out
    the technology to do this.
Some of the user UI personalization changes expected are:
    - Hide non-mandatory fields, buttons, tabs or groups
containing non-mandatory fields (typically unused features for that
    user)
-Move a field or group of fields within an existing tab or
    other container to another container
    -Make a non-mandatory field mandatory
-Define new custom buttons that link to existing application
    functionality or URL for mashups
-Resize input and display fields (individual fields as well
    as columns in lists/grids)
These UI changes need to be completed in MXML only,
independent of the underlying business code since one product
solution will be deployed and supported.
The idea would be to store these user changes in a user
profile that could guide the browser in rendering the MXML. A
profile approach would also enable a user to share a unit of work
that has a personalized UI with another user. Profiles need to
migrate forward with the solution as subsequent versions are
released to minimize maintenance & testing impact.
We are looking for a more malleable interface that a user can
shape to their purpose after delivery. This is similar to web
    parts.
Are there any plans to support such a UI personalization
    mechanism on the Flex roadmap?
    Thanks.

    HI Pooja,
for personalizing i hope this would help u better :
Changing the position and visibility of  UI elements – for example, for fields and tables.
    · Adding or changing additional interface information – for example changing the button text or adding quick infos.
    · Role-specific changing of interface labels.
    · UI element roadmap: Removing individual, unneeded process steps.
    · Statically changing individual field attributes.
    · Changing the alignment of individual UI elements – for example, line starting point, align right, centered alignment.
    · Wider selection of fonts and colors for the interface layout
    Hope this might help u.

  • CC / Dreamweaver Roadmap.

Trying to get my head round Dreamweaver CC (CC in general) and where adobe is heading with it. Over the past couple of months I have found myself questioning the purchase more and more and unless something changes I'm going to request that we (as a studio) drop cloud and just pick up CS6 / use an open source alternative. If it wasn't for the fact we have sites already built using older versions of Dreamweaver we wouldn't even be using it.
Which brings me onto my point, Is there a roadmap for Dreamweaver/any of the cloud CC software? My biggest concern is adobe is now targeting a different market. JQuery widgets (which was simple enough to install anyway) and other tat that as a professional I really dont need. If this is the route that adobe wishes to take its probs best to get out now.
    Regards,

    Hi
Don't worry, if you wish to rant then it is your right to do so .
Don't read anything more into this, other than it being just a personal guess, but I think Dw did require a clean-out of everything that was outdated or of no more further use, before the development team could move on with bringing it up to the standard required for the modern web, (html/css/javascript/php/sql/svg).
Given that the php code hinting has been updated to include php 5.4, and now includes php doc. I don't think they are going to drop further development.
As for html and css, this is on going as well as far as I can see, I just wish they would drop the fluid-grids feature and concentrate on css flexbox, (those who know me on the forum will tell you that I am a big supporter of css flexbox).
The main problem that I can see is that Adobe concentrated so much on Flash until a few years ago, and literally ignored Dreamweaver, (you only have to look at the size of the two development teams in the 'About' credits for CS3+ to see the difference) that Dw is now having to play 'catch-up' and this may take more time than some users are willing to wait.
Creating your own classes and connectors may be a good idea anyway, and you would have to do this in any other IDE that did not require you to use their php framework. As for ditching CC, you can install CS6 and CC on the same machine, (you cannot run both at the same time though) which would give you CS6 for maintenance of old sites (php/asp), but still leave you with the improving html/css/php/etc features in CC.

  • Hiding a Maintenance View in a View Cluster

    Hello ABAP Experts,
We have a scenario where we would like to hide a maintenance view to an existing view cluster based on condition.
Is it possible via events of a view cluster, where i can hide the view at runtime based on some condition before the view cluster is displayed ?
Is there any way as well, which help achieve this hiding of views ?
For example in the below View Cluster, i would like to hide "Define object links" view from the main view cluster "Define document Types".
    Thanks,
    Naresh

    Hi Naresh,
Yes, you can do it in events of a view cluster, define a subroutine and bounding it to event(02) in SE54,
when you define the subroutine, it will ask you creat a mian program, in this main program, you need  'INCLUDE lsvcmcod'.
Then you can access some standard data, http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/62/c302c7de8e11d1a5960000e82deaaa/frameset.htm
    INCLUDE lsvcmcod.
    FORM yourSubroutineName.
    DATA: viewname TYPE vclstruc-object,
            error_flag TYPE vcl_flag_type,
      viewname = 'ZTEST_VIEW1'.
    *  PERFORM vcl_set_table_access_for_obj USING    viewname
    *                                       CHANGING error_flag.
----> according your condition to change the view.
    IF xxx = yyy.
DELETE vcl_struc_tab WHERE object = viewname.
    ENDIF.

  • Possibility to edit datasets, when there is already a maintenance view?

    Hello again,
is it right that I can modify datasets even when there exists a generated maintenance view for the table?
It was usual for me, that in the transaction SE16 don't allow that.
    Thank you for your answers!
    Melanie

Depends on the setting for "delivery and maintenance" in SE11, should be set to "allowed with restrictions" for the underlying tables of the view. Also check the very good F1 help for this field.

  • Can I use classes and methods for a maintenance view events?

    Hello experts,
Instead of perform/form, can I instead use classes and methods, etc for a given maintenance view event, lets say for example I want to use event '01' which is before saving records in the database. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot guys!

    Hi viraylab,
    1. The architecture provided by maintenance view
for using EVENTS and our own code inside it -
       It is provided using FORM/PERFORM
       concept only.
    2. At this stage,we cannot use classes.
    3. However, inside the FORM routine,
we can write what ever we want.
We can aswell use any abap code, including
       classes and methods.
(But this classes and methods won't have any
effect on the EVENT provided by maintenance view)

  • How to create a variant to a maintenance view (trans: SM31)

    Hi gurus.
I have created a maintenance view (called z_jest). By running it from SM31 there is a variant option. However, I am not able to create the variant which I want to filter a selection upon in this transaction.
I have even looked into transaction SE54 and created a variant for the maintenance table view there( called z_jestv). Then going back to transaction SM31 and view z_jest, i push 'Variant' radiobutton and type as variant: 'z_jestv', I only get the message: "Variant z_jestv for object z_jest does not exist".
Can anybody please advice on how to create and/or connect the variant to the maintenance view?
    Regards LL.

    Hi Mahalakshmi
    Thanks for reply.
When I look into the procedure, there is a prerequisite: "The basis dialog for which the maintenance variant is created already exists."
I am a little bit unsertain if I miss this 'Basic dialog'. Can you please advice on how to check / create this 'basic dialog' before I go on to create the variant. (I need this 'basic dialog' as input in the procedure you sent.)
(Note: I have already created a 'maintenance dialog' for the view, but I have a feeling, that is something different...)

  • Using DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE with a Maintenance View

    Hi,
I am using a maintenance view to insert values into a table. When user creates a new entry, based on the value provided for a field,I need to fill a read-only field. In PAI, when user enters a value for one field, I am using FM 'DYNP_GET_STEPL' to  get the current line and then DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE to fill the contents to the read-only field. But this does not seem to work. Any idea?
    Regards
    Rachana

    Hi Tamas,
I tried both the options suggested by you.
I am updating the underlying structure, still its not visible when the screen loads again. But if you see the same field gets filled with DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE if an F4 help is used for teh first(editable) field and then my read-only field is also filled in the PROCESS ON VALUE REQUEST module.
So my guess is that, since it is a table control, it loops through the rest of the table control which is empty and my underlying structure gets cleared. So the problem could be where I am actually filling the field.
Is it possible to somehow fill the <EXTRACT> table so that teh value is not lost?
    Regards
    Rachana
