UI Personalization Roadmap

Hi,
I'm not sure whether this topic belongs in this forum but I
couldn't find another forum that addresses Flex and related user
interface control personalization. If anyone knows of a better
forum please let me know.
Question / Discussion
I'd need to understand the current position Adobe has on UI
personalization when building an application based on the
Flex/Flash framework.
We'd like to move our product to Flex/Flash but the solution
must permit a user to personalize our user interface and save the
changes made. From both a business & developer perspective, we
want to concentrate on our business solution rather than build out
the technology to do this.
Some of the user UI personalization changes expected are:
- Hide non-mandatory fields, buttons, tabs or groups
containing non-mandatory fields (typically unused features for that
user)
-Move a field or group of fields within an existing tab or
other container to another container
-Make a non-mandatory field mandatory
-Define new custom buttons that link to existing application
functionality or URL for mashups
-Resize input and display fields (individual fields as well
as columns in lists/grids)
These UI changes need to be completed in MXML only,
independent of the underlying business code since one product
solution will be deployed and supported.
The idea would be to store these user changes in a user
profile that could guide the browser in rendering the MXML. A
profile approach would also enable a user to share a unit of work
that has a personalized UI with another user. Profiles need to
migrate forward with the solution as subsequent versions are
released to minimize maintenance & testing impact.
We are looking for a more malleable interface that a user can
shape to their purpose after delivery. This is similar to web
parts.
Are there any plans to support such a UI personalization
mechanism on the Flex roadmap?
Thanks.

HI Pooja,
for personalizing i hope this would help u better :
Changing the position and visibility of  UI elements – for example, for fields and tables.
· Adding or changing additional interface information – for example changing the button text or adding quick infos.
· Role-specific changing of interface labels.
· UI element roadmap: Removing individual, unneeded process steps.
· Statically changing individual field attributes.
· Changing the alignment of individual UI elements – for example, line starting point, align right, centered alignment.
· Wider selection of fonts and colors for the interface layout
Hope this might help u.

  • Component Config for RoadMap Tab Description

    Hi,
I have the following requirement -
The description on the "NEXT" button in one of the step in a roadmap should be customized. This could be achieved in two ways. One is to change the OTR text for the corresponding alias. But this way the description will also change in another step/page where it is not required to. One more way of doing it is to enhance the method (creating a post exit for the method MODIFY_BUTTONS in the view). But the post exit for this method does seem to work. I believe this is related to Note 1244440.
I was wondering if there is any other way of doing this. I mean using Personalization or Comp Config. Not sure to what extent such a requirement could be achieved using config, because the description should only change for a particular step in the roadmap (which is known only dynamically).
Any suggestions around this would be great. Appreciate your time.
    Thanks

    Thanks George.
But the "manipulation of text" should be handled in an enhancement (post exit) which does not seem to work.
Is there some place else where I can do this coding? Would it be possible to do anything via comp config?
    Any other suggestions??
    Thanks

  • Report personalization issue..

    Hi Experts,
We have published our few reports which are orignially created in Query designer in our BW portal using the WAD iviews. We have a issue that when we choose "Personalize Web application"  for a report then same reports opens up every time even if we choose to open different report.
Can any one please suggest why it is happening!
    Thanks

Please see below link if you need to remove the personilsation:

  • How to find the user who did the personalization?

    Hi All,
Is there a way to find out which user has done personalizations in a given OA page? For e.g. if a user has done personalization for hiding a text bean in a page, I want to find out that user's name by passing the page name to a script?
Even if not possible through script, if there is any other way to achieve this, please let me know.
    Regards,
    Pradeep

I dont think it is possible. The LAST_UPDATED_BY column in JDR_PATHS is always set to INTERNAL.

  • Creation of a Multi-Year Product Roadmap in Project 2010

I am looking to see if I can efficiently create a product roadmap using Project 2010.  For a given business unit in our corporation I have product categories and under those categories I have products and/or projects I want to show on a timeline.  I
was able to brute force this into a timeline but I would think there is an easier way to do this.
For example, I would like to be able to put the description of the product/project inside the bar on the ghantt chart but I get an error when I try to do that.  I increased the bar height to allow for legible text but still no luck.
I want each entry for a given product category to automatically produce a bar of the right color with starting and ending symbols as needed based on the type of entry I add (product versus project).
Is there any way to add an outline to the bars of different colors to designate the difference between a sustaining, anticipated, active, and discontinued product or project?
Or would I be better served to go find an aftermarket piece of software that will do this type of work instead of trying to use MS Project for something it wasn't specifically designed?
    Thank you for any feedback.
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
    Here is a
tutorial that might help you coloring your bar style. This is based on the resource name but you could have a custom field with your product category which trigger a flag then the bar style will be formated
    based on the flag.
Then about the description in the bar, I'm afraid this is not intended for this purpose. What about the note fields?
    Hope this helps,

  • In Design CS2 won't accept serial number during "Personalization" In Design

Re: InDesignCS2 rejects the serial number provided for CS2 special "no-activation" versions.
I am having an identical set of issues as outlined in the above discussion but I am using Windows 7.
My hard disk died and I am simply trying to get back up to speed with the new one. I have Creative Suite 2 Premium.  Following the special instructions for moving certain files so that I wouldn't have the Insert Disk 2 problems I managed to get PhotoShop actuvated and running. However, I am unable to "personalize" InDesign because the system does not like the serial number.  I have tried the one that came on the original box and the one that was on the link I used to download the programs. Both with and without the hyphens.
I have also been unable to uninstall InDesign and start over as the wizard was interrupted just as it was described above.
I have followed the instructions on the link you provided to manually remove CS2:  Manually remove Adobe Creative Suite 2.x | Windows  Including attempting to uninstall Creative Suite.  However, Adobe InDesign CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2, and Adobe SVG Viewer 3 still appear in the list of programs and for some reason cannot be uninstalled using the control panel.
In looking at the files that are still on the computer I see a folder C:\Creative Suite CS2. It has folders in it for PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Version Cue plus some other stuff. I was able to delete each of the files individually. but when I attempt to delete Illustrator, I get an error message saying  that it can't be deleted  because a folder or file is open in another application. When I attempt to uninstall that one using the control panel I get a message saying the remover was interrupted before it could finish.
I haven't even gotten to the part of the instructions where you remove things from the registry!
Any thoughts on where to go from here?
    Thanks,
    E.

You need to see the following for CS2 installation:
    Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3 -

  • Personalization is not getting deleted in R12

    Hey OAF gurus,
I have extended a standard CO in R12 and through personalization I attached my custom CO to that standard page .
But due to some reason page is erroring out before rendering itself .So, now I want to delete that personalization .
I tried with jdr_utils.deletedocument but it still pointing to my custom CO .
Even I set the profile "Disable Self-Service Personal" as yes and then navigated to that page after that I tried to remove the custom CO by clicking personalize page but after clicking apply its still pointing to my custom CO.
Please help me on this .
Even when I am executing jdr_utils.listcustomizations its not showing anything which means that there is no personalization . But I am still getting the error which is pointing to my custom CO.

    Thanks sushant/Moorthy.
I am able to delete the personalization .
But when I am attaching I custom CO then I am getting the below error :-

  • Using roadmap and select-options

I'm new to abap web dynpro, i'm using a roadmap with 4 views. This is working fine but, when I try to use select options in view1 they don't show. When I set view1 as default view the select options are working fine.
this is how my current web dynpro looks like:
Main view -> roadmap with viewcontainerUIElement
view1 -> viewContainerUIElement + table (in the window I embedded the select options in the viewContainerUIElement)
        view2
        view3
        view4
In view1 I'm using wddoinit to initialise the select options.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Srinivas,
According to you mail, I will provide some solution please try them. It will definitely works.
---> Create a attribute which holds the lead selection values of the RADIO_GROUP.
---> When you click on the Next View, You will fire the plug. Right. Just before firing the Plug, update the above
          attribute with update information.
    > Do the same code for Select-options code in the WDDOINIT except the passing the values to the select-options.
    > Please pass the attribute information to Select-options with updated information in the method WDDOMODIFYVIEW every time. Without creating a attribute also you can approach the same method. Just for simple access we can create a attribute. Otherwise without that we can do the same.
So Just populate the values into Select-options depending on the value of RADIO_GROUP you will do the same coding WDDOMODIFYVIEW. But initialization of SELECT-OPTIONS can be only done in the method WDDOINIT method only. WDDOINIT method only execute first time once you go through it and go back and move forward then this method won't execute.
I hope this logic will work for you. If not Please send me the Code related to SELECT-OPTIONS and RADIO_GROUP Button information.
I will be in office today up to 4.45 PM (IST). You can contact me in this time otherwise we will discuss on webex tomorrow morning at 9 AM.

  • You do not have permission to access service Personalization

This is certainly new to me. I am attempting to directly access a MII Application web page by URL in MII V 12.1 and get this message when using my basic user login:
You do not have permission to access service Personalization
It works fine with my admin login. I have dug around in Netweaver and MII and can't find where I turn this on. What is the magic bullet? Is there a particular role or group the basic user must be a member of?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Crystal Report installation roadmap

    Hi All,
I googled and found that the the SAP data can be extracted only if SAP BW is configured. We have a different requirement
InfoSet Queries are developed, which extracts data from SAP tables
We need to customize the design of the report, therefore plan to have temporary extracted data in InfoSet query and
install and integrate Crystal Report with Infoset Queries for customizing the layout.
Are our concepts correct about crystal report? If yes, how can we integrate CR with SAP, keeping in consideration that we haven't implemented SAP BW.
In short, installation/configuration of the following scenerio
SAP Tables -> InfoSet Query -> Crystal Report -> Custom Layout with Infoset Query data -> Print
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you Ingo for your valuable response. Infact, I'm a big fan of your blogs @Business Objects.
Actually, the objective is to design reports with customized heading without using ABAP. For the purpose, InfoSet queries are created. Now I'm looking for a tool, e.g. Crystal Reports etc., to design queries output in professional way.
What do you suggest, which product should I opt for temporary purpose? We will be acquiring BOBJ in next fiscal year, which I hope will make our life easy for developing/designing new reports. But at current, which product/roadmap should be focus on?
    Thanks !
    BR
