RoboHelp 11-Maximum number of folder/topics

I currently have two very large user guides. They were created either RoboHelp 7 or earlier and have been upgraded to version 9 and now 11. Is there a maximum number of folders/topics a user guide should contain within RoboHelp? I need to add more and more information in the guide and am concerned the file is becoming too large. Any information you can provide is appreciated.
Thank you.

I have never found the difference in opening one that is of any real significance. I'm curious about the output comment though, the generated output has no link whatever to the CPD so how could that affect the opening of the output?

  • Maximum number of Folder tabs??

    Is there a maximum number of folder tabs you can have on a form?  If I add 12 folders to a form (and open the form in B1), I am not able to click on any of the folder tabs past the 9th folder.
    To see what I mean, open the ComplexForm sample project.  In the "Adding Folder Items" section, change the number of loop iterations to 10 (or higher).  Then try to click on that 10th form when you run the project.

    I'm currently having the exact same problem with using more than 9 folders.
    I've managed to create a new set of folders so that when clicked they now look as if they are selected however as they are not grouped with the other folders when clicked the selected folder from the other group of folders doesn't deselect. Another problem I've got is positioning the new folders so it looks as if they are in the same group as the others as currently I can place them in the correct left position however you can see where they overlap.
    Thanks

  • Maximum number of keywords, topics in an Index?

    Good morning,
    Macromedia/eHelp claimed at one point that the number of
    topics and size of a WinHelp 2000 project was very large -
    thousands of topics and I think a few gig of space. I have 517
    documents, some with up to 45 topics, and a total of 2688 topics.
    It compiles fine, but can't index worth a darn. Because it was
    originally field level help (from an old DOS system), there are
    duplicate topic names with different content. Is that what's
    causing my problem? I can't find anything on here or the web about
    indexing problems with the software. I found something on
    stoplists, but it didn't apply to my situation.
    What experiences have you had with large RH for Word projects
    with thousands of topics and what tips can you give me? Anything
    about indexing? Eventually, we'll probably need to go with a .CHM
    output, but we can do that RH for Word. I haven't had ANY problems
    with indexing in RoboHTML, but unfortunately that's not an option
    for this project at the moment.
    Thanks,

    photo princess:
    There never was a limit to the number of slides in an iPhoto slideshow. That 99 limit was for slideshow created in iDVD from imported stills. iDVD can not have more than 99 slides in any one slideshow that's created entirely in iDVD but at 99 the chapter number of the next slide (each slide is considered a chapter) reverts back to 1. It's a DVD standard issue, not an iDVD thing.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Maximum number of files in a folder ?

    Hello, what is the maximum number of files in a folder OS X can handle ?
    I used a file recovery software called FileSalvage to save some files of an external 300GB with a corrupted disk directory (unable to repair with the usual repair/recovery programs).
    FileSalvage recovered about 435,000 files and sorted them by extension in individual folders, unfortunately it does not recognize the file names and just sequentially names the files per extension.
    The .jpeg, .gif and .html folders had up to 75,000 files. After recovery the external FW drives started to behave very strange, unresponsive, just hanging, time-out. I tried on a Mac Mini, iMac G5, an iBook and PowerBook, OS X 10.3.9 and 10.4.3, FW400/800 and USB 2.0 interface, they all had pretty much the same failure mode after a while.
    Running Disk Utility on the drives with the recovered FileSalvage folders showed a corrupted directory (invalid file count) and unable to repair, although I could copy most of the folders of the disk (deleted the folders with more than 10,000 files per folder).
    I suspect that File Salvage copies more files in a folder than OS X allows, causing unpredicable problems.
    Any ideas ?

    From "Mac OS X: Mac OS Extended Format volume and file limits"
    "Maximum number of files (or files and folders) in a folder … up to 2.1 billion"
    According to a note in the document, the above is subject to the drive's size (maximum 16 terabytes in "Tiger") and block size, ie. the number of available blocks.
    So it would appear that the number of files you mentioned would be well within theoretical limits, although I suppose there could be a bug in some other part of OS X. Otherwise, maybe there is a problem with the drive...

  • Maximum number of emails supported in a folder

    Hi Guys,
    What is the maximum number of emails you can in one folder on iPhone 5S?
    We have a user whose Exchange mailbox is around 16.5GB and he has about 93K items overall and around 20K in the sent items. Intermittently he loses emails from his Sent Items going back to March 2010. Then it takes days to re-sync the Sent Items folders. This happens on his iPhone 5S(iPhone6C2/1104.257) and iPad2C1, we use Exchange Activesync.
    Thanks

    The theoretical limit is the NTFS volume limit. This is provided in the below article.
    NTFS Physical Structure
    However the practical limit depends on your application and business scenario. You can read about FILESTREAM and FileTable internals and about performance considerations from the below excellent article

  • What is the maximum number of 263 byte text files that can fit in a folder?

    what is the maximum number of 263 byte text files that can fit in a folder - on a windows 2000 operating system?
    I created a java program that creates these text files.
    It was set to loop 30,000 times.
    It created a total of 21874 html files before throwing a null exception.
    I tried to copy and paste 10 more html files manually and it said not enough disk space.
    however, I made a New Folder in that same folder and I was able to successfully paste the folders in
    there.
    That's interesting.
    It appears there is a size limit in each folder, BUT I can make another folder within that and successfully paste more html files in there
    Does anyone know the rules governing this feature.

    Whatever the answer is, it has nothing to do with Java programming. Microsoft might know, though, and that's where you should look.

  • Maximum number displayed files in Folder in Dock?

    One of our users has over 800 files saved directly in her Documents folder. We keep this folder in the usual location, and also have it displayed in the Dock as a "list". When she clicks on the folder, about the first half of the files show up - if displayed alphabetically for example, she gets A - M.
    Does anyone know if this is fixable? I'm assuming here that there is some maximum number of displayed files which maybe I can fix by editing a .plist or something. It drives her nuts to have to do the "open in Finder" thing half the time, but not the other half of the time (obviously, when she opens this folder as a Finder window everything is there, it is only the display in the Dock which refuses to show all items).
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the info. There is indeed a maximum number of files that the dock will show in the contextual menu. Yeah, it would be best if the user wouldn't keep everything organized like that, but it isn't possible to lean over someone's shoulder all the time...

    Hi Memalyn
    Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
    My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
    If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
    Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
    Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • Maximum number of user mailboxes supported by single Exchange Database in 2007 / 2010 & 2013 ?

    What is the Maximum number of user mailboxes supported by single Exchange Database  in 2007 / 2010 & 2013 ?
    Aditya Mediratta

    Agree with Keith, there is no MB # limit, however there are practical concerns such as DB size and how that effects recoverability as well as performance.   In terms of extremes we had one major educational customer that had 35K Mailboxes in
    a single database so you can utilize a ridiculous # of mailboxes in a DB if desired.  IMO you are better off to keep the # of mailboxes to a reasonable level, i.e. no more than 250-500 mailboxes per DB

  • Number of folder sub-levels and characters

    Does anyone know:
    a) how many levels of folders are permissible in Mac OS X
    b) how many characters are allowed for file or folder names?
    I have recently switched over to the Mac system from Windows where the I believe the maximum number of "folders within folders" (levels in the hierarchy) is 8, and the maximum number of characters for naming files or folders is 64. My main concern is that backups in Windows are truncated beyond these limits.
    I've searched for answers in Apple tutorials, forums, books (etc.), and even AppleCare was not able to answer these questions.
    Thank you very much!

    Thank you. Surprising that there is absolutely no limit on the number of folder levels and greatly appreciate the specific 255 characters information.
    There is a path length of 1024 as specified by the pathconf() function:
    PC_PATHMAX == 1024
    What this means is if you are going to pass a path to a kernel function (and many library routines), the total string length may not exceed 1024 characters.
    However, if you do something like
    mkdir a
    cd a
    mkdir b
    cd b
    mkdir c
    cd c
    mkdir d
    cd d
    etc...
    you can continue as deep as you wish, you will just need to make sure that when you access any files at the deeper levels that the string specified as the path does not exceed 1024 bytes.

  • Xs:group refs and "ORA-30936: Maximum number (1) of XML nodes exceeded'

    We registered a subset of the IBM DITA schemas in Oracle XDB. These schemas contain a lot of xs:group definitions where references to these groups contain "minOccurs" and "maxOccurs" atttributes, for instance:
    <xs:group name="category">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element ref="category"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:group>
    <xs:complexType name="metadata.class">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:group ref="audience" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    <xs:group ref="category" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    <xs:group ref="keywords" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    <xs:group ref="prodinfo" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    <xs:group ref="othermeta" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    <xs:attribute name="mapkeyref" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:attributeGroup ref="global-atts"/>
    <xs:attribute ref="class" default="- topic/metadata "/>
    </xs:complexType>
    When we create an instance document that contains more than one "category" element under the element "metadata" element, like:
    <metadata>
    <audience type="purchaser" othertype="" job="using" otherjob="" experiencelevel="general"/>
    <category/>
    <category/>
    </metadata>
    we get the error: ORA-30936: Maximum number (1) of 'category' XML node elements exceeded
    This error is not consistent with the schema and XML parsers like Xerces and the Oracle "XDK parser" think the instance is fine.
    When we skip the reference to the group and reference the element definition "category" directly the problem is gone:
    <xs:complexType name="metadata.class">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:group ref="audience" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    <xs:element ref="category" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    <xs:group ref="keywords" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    <xs:group ref="prodinfo" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    <xs:group ref="othermeta" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    <xs:attribute name="mapkeyref" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:attributeGroup ref="global-atts"/>
    <xs:attribute ref="class" default="- topic/metadata "/>
    </xs:complexType>
    In this case the problems for the other group references like "audience" remain.
    It looks like Oracle XDB doesn't honor the cardinality attributes "minOccurs" and "maxOccurs" on xs:group elements that are references. Does anyone experienced similar problems?
    Thanks,
    Maarten

    This sounds like bug 5204107. You'll need to open a tar with Oracle Support if you need a fix for this..
    It happens when a group is used once without a maxOccurs and then later with a maxOccurs.
    The workaround is 'in-line' the group before registering the XML Schema. This can be done as follows (assuming the group definition and reference are in the same XML Schema)..
    procedure expandGroup(xmlschema in out xmltype, groupName varchar2,xsdDirectory varchar2)
    is
      xsdSchemaPath varchar2(512);
      groupModel xmltype;
      sequenceModel xmlType := xmlType('<xsd:sequence ' || xdb_namespaces.XMLSCHEMA_PREFIX_XSD || '><xsd:sequence/></xsd:sequence>');
      maxOccursValue binary_integer;
    begin
      -- FInd the Group Definition
      if xmlSchema.existsNode('/xsd:schema//xsd:group[@ref="' || groupName || '"]',NAMESPACES) = 1 then

    Hi I was trying to setup up an account under mail for exchange however I'm getting this error. Currently I only have yahoo on my phone.
    can anyone help me???
    I already tried resetting my phone to factory setting to no avail.

    I have the same problem, looks like while deleting the mail box of MFE type, it deletes from the list but the software continues to run at the back ground.
    Looked up the folder MailForExchange in the root folder of Phone memory, there is a log file which is getting constant updates of some kind of sync my phone continue to perform with the server.
    This is true, even though there is no MFE account in the system and it gives an error of Multiple MFE account exist.
    Hope Nokia is listening and will try to figure this error.

    When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
    These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
              DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
    (not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
    If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
    In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
    Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
    I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • Maximum number of songs for muvo tx

    I thought it would be impossible, but i managed to fit probably close to 2 hours of music on my muvo tx fm 52 mb. However, My muvo tx fm will only play a certain number of songs... it just won't see the rest. (for example, i have 7 folders full of music. my muvo tx fm only sees 6 of them.. even then in the sixth folder the muvo tx fm will only play one song.) Because of this i rule out a maximum number of folders. Will the muvo tx fm only play a certain number of songs or only play so many hours of music? I am currently converting about 20 mb of my songs to wma, as all my songs save one are in the mp3 format, and i am seeing if having maybe half of my songs in another format would help. I'll also try upgrading the firmware to see if this may fix it. But if someone has an answer now, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

    I too am experiencing the same problem. I have a gig tx fm and the player will only recognize 50 folders. Anything beyond that is lost; however I can play the files thru WMP0 when the player is plugged in via usb. Furthermore, 3 or 4 of the 50 folders that are visible on the player just get skipped; the files contained in them won't play. These files aren't corrupt or anything, they too will play thru WMP0. I have tried the firmware update .3.03 which lists--[*]Displays recorded tracks accurately when the player contains more than 50 folders.</LI>
    as one of the included fixes. This problem is really bugging me as I have maybe a handful of songs by a variety of different artists and would prefer to keep them in separate folders by artist. If, in fact, it is true that the MuVo will only support 50 folders my whole plan for music organization is out the window. Any ideas out there since last post?
