  • Nilvaiu.dll error robotics starter kit 2.0 9632 labview 14.0

    Hi:
I appreciate all the support this site has given me.
I am trying to run a small VI that will read the motor encoder.
I get the error msg DAQmx Clear Task.vi loaded with errors on the target was closed     &
milvaiu.dll:daqdestroytask110. Ensure the library is present on the RT target.......
I looked on the web and was given the info to reinstall ni-daqmx 14.0. which I did several times and I still get the error.
    Have any suggestions?
    Thanks,

The robotics kit uses a NI sbRIO-9632 embedded controller. You cannot use NI-DAQmx on a RIO system - it is two different drivers for two different platforms.
You will need to use the NI-RIO driver instead. You can refer to the LabVIEW 2014 Robotics Module Help for examples and explanations of how to write code for the sbRIO-9632.

  • Connecting to US Robotics wireless router

When the network started up the morning everything worked fine until a tiny powercut outage, when everything restarted the PCs connected OK wirelessly to the US Robotics router but the two Macs (new macbook pro, new macbook) will just not connect. Airport sees the USR modem but simply comes up with a window saying "there was a problem connecting to USR650 cancel or retry". Same on both macs although both connect fine using ethernet cable. Also both were running on battery when the powercut came so they were not affected in any way.
    Tried restarting everything, no change.
The US Robotics does not have any wep key nor encryption.
Everything worked fine before the tiny power cut, all the settings on the router are OK and unchanged from previous settings.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I took a Netgear wi-fi router into the office and that connects fine so the problem is with the US robotics somewhere.
Just so I understand. Are you saying that your Macs can access the Internet when you substituted the Netgear for the US Robotics Wi-Fi router? If so, then it definately sounds like a problem with your US Robotics wireless capability.

  • Anyone use US Robotics Modem Router?

    Hello
I have just purchased a US Robotics ADSL MOdem&Router Model no: 9108.
My problem is this, i can connect to internet and ichat with no problem however, i sometimes get this "insuficient bandwidth" error message.
I also cant send or recieve any files anymore, which i could before.
I have tried to set up my virtual server settings by enabling/opening the ports i have seen mentioned on these forums but none of that helpd.
I also had an issue with the port 16403-16834 (may be wrong on that coz dont have em in front of me now)...anyway, when i tried to add those ports i got an error saying soming like "invalid port"
My main issue is sending files and this "insufficient bandwidth" problem.
    Can anyone help me please???
    Thanx

    Hi Afroboogie,
Some people use sites likes http://flickr.com/ or http://photobucket.com/ to post pics and then link them here. (or a web site)
My Port Fowarding looks like the one top left here
It does not have any set for iChat as I use UPnP.
I have an option to set TCP or UDP or Both for the Protocols.
iChat logs on and sends Text chats, files and pics on Port 5190. One protocol is used for Logging on and basic Text chats. The other protocol is used for Sending Pics in Chats (Direct Messaging), Sending files and Group chats.
The change to port 443 will allow you to at least log on and Text chat. It may not allow you to send files as this is the other protocl and can not be changed in iChat and therefore will still be blocked.
It might also be that the other AV ports are also blocked.
IPNetMonitorX may be useful in checking this out.
    It has a trial period.
You need to scan the ports iChat uses for AV chats against a know IP.
Find a Buddy who can tell you their Public IP address and has iChat open.
Test ports 5190 on TCP and UDP and test these singularly for UDP 5060, 5678.
Test this group all in one go on UDP 16384-16403
Where I was talking about lowest to highest, was about Start and End ports. You listed 16384-16403 as 16403-16384 which was the reverse order and likely to cause the error you had.

  • US robotics external modem

Yes I have a US Robotics Courier V.Everything external modem I used to use with my PC and I was wondering if this modem would work with a Mac. It's serial so I was wondering if I could get a serial to usb converter. If anyone has used this modem with Mac could you please let me know I can't find any info online which makes me think this is not an option. The modem in my powerbook works fine it's just I get kicked offline and I am hopping the external will work alittle better.
    Thank you,
    Tony

It's not worth the effort. (Just my 2 cents).

  • Can't import CAD model into Robotics Simulation Model Builder (LV2012)

Ok, this is starting to get rather aggravating. I can't successfully import even the most basic CAD model I create (from Solidworks) into the Robotics Simulation Model Builder. I've tried several, ranging from a complex assembly to the most basic cylinder. I've tried .stl and .wrl files, and I always get the same result. It's an error saying that 'the converter cannot load the input file properly'.
Anyone have any ideas? I've reviewed quite a bit on the simulator and there's nothing specific (at least not that I've found) in regards to errors when loading CAD models. I know the acceptable file types (.ive? Really NI? I'd never even heard of OpenSceneGraph!), and I can load some parts from a shipping example, but nothing custom.
My goal here is to create a Stewart platform simulator, and the shipping example for same is where I got some of the original models I imported. Since I can't programmatically parse the XML file that is used in the shipping example (yeah, thanks for the bizarre schema, guys) in order to accurately determine joint end locations, I tried building my own model. No luck yet.
    Help!

    Ryan,
I understand that the direct import of .stl files isn't supported, I just tried it out of frustration, and only then because some of the shipping examples (OmniRobot, for example) make use of them. Attached are a screenshot of the cylinder model, the .wrl file (renamed to .txt in order to attach, just change the extension back) created from the cylinder model, and a screenshot of the error dialog.
You'll see that I have a material property applied to the cylinder, it's stainless steel. I've tried an even simpler cylinder with no material specified, same result.
    Thanks for trying to help.

  • Selling the Kinect v2 as part of a robotics product

    Hi,
I am part of a robotics startup that is interested in using the Kinect v2 as core part of my product
Are there any commercial re-sale restrictions regarding the Kinect v2? Could I purchase the sensor and re-sale as part of my product?
    Please let me know
    Thank you,

Given that I am not a lawyer and cannot provide legal advice, please have someone on your legal team review the terms of the EULA.
There are no restrictions for reselling the Kinect for Windows sensor.  The EULA authorizes commercial usage as long as its usage falls into the terms outlined.

  • Get the Encoder Data from NI Robotics Starter Kit 1.0

I want to make a perfect 90 degree turn using the encoder Data from Robotics Starter Kit 1.0. Now I am doing it giving the angular velocity and controlling the time. But, the problem is, it's not perfect all the time. It is not repeatable. So, I want to use the encoder Data to turn it 90 degrees perfectly. So, How could I get the Quadrate Encoder Data from the motors (What VI should be used?).

    Hey Mashfique,
Sorry for the delayed response. I believe that with the Robotics Starter Kit 1.0 you aren't actually suppose to worry about which of the FPGA I/O correspond to which sensor because the Robotics VIs abstract that for you by design. Here's a link that you might find interesting that describes how to communicate with the FPGA to steer a robot using either the Servo's angular position or velocity:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/372983D-01/lvrobogsm/robo_skit_programming/#skit_steering
In the above link for example, they mention using the Write Sensor Servo Angle VI to set the angle that you want to rotate the Servo to.

    Ryan

  • Not enough data points out of hokuyo lidar on robotics simulator

    Hi,
We've been using the hokuyo URG series lidar in the robotics simulator but we can't get more than 29 data points out of it. We get hundreds when running the sensor in real life. Is there a way to increase the number of data points read in the simulator? It is too low to be useful at the moment.
    thanks.
    (Using Labview Robotics 2012)

I believe the default scan angle for the simulated Hokuyo lidar sensor is 5 degrees.  With max and min angles of +-70 degrees, this explains why you're seeing 29 data points.  You can change these settings in the Simulator wizard.  Right-click the simulation target in the project, and select Properties.  In the wizard, select the Hokuyo sensor in the tree, and scroll down to change the "Max Angle", "Min Angle", and/or "Scan Angle" parameters.

  • Microsoft Moves into Robotics ["similar to the LabView-based software"]

    Microsoft Moves into Robotics
The software giant thinks it can make robotic engineering easier with a set of standards: its own of course.
    By Daniel Turner
    Saturday, September 02, 2006
    technologyreview.com
Microsoft believes the demand for consumer, research, and military robots will grow significantly--and it wants to own the market.
At the annual RoboBusiness conference this past June, the software giant released the first "community technical preview" of Microsoft Robotics Studio (MSRS). Now, in its second preview version, MSRS is both a product and the lynchpin of a new educational push: the Institute for Personal Robots in Education (IPRE).
Founded by Microsoft Research, Georgia Tech, and Bryn Mawr College, the computer science and robotics program is aimed at college and graduate students. Together, the product and program are designed to bypass small, cheap robots, such as the Roomba (see "Hacking the Roomba"), in favor of a world of robots that are more complex and PC-like.
MSRS is a visual programming environment, similar to the LabView-based software provided with LEGO's Mindstorms NXT kit. It allows users to drag and drop box-like symbols for simple, low-level behaviors and services (such as accessing a sensor) and string them together to create complex robotic programs. MSRS also uses the AGEIA PhysX physics engine, which powers many PC games, to provide a visual simulation of the robot and its environment, complete with realistic friction, drag, gravity, and other factors.
Another feature of MSRS is that it provides a method for controlling robots over a network through a PC's Web browser. In addition to requiring Windows on the PC side, MSRS robots must use a CPU that supports Microsoft's .NET runtime, which could rule out the inexpensive and less power-hungry processors used in many robots today.
"We're trying to make it easier for people to write applications for robots," says Trandy Trower, general manager of Microsoft's Robotics Group. He says the current robotics community is too diverse, with many different hardware and software variants, to be efficient. "[MSRS is] like what Microsoft did with MS Basic," he says, "in smoothing out the fragmentation of PC hardware." Trower claims that MS Basic became a "de facto standard," which then allowed developers to write to one target and use a set of common tools.
"Robotics programming is very ad hoc," says Tucker Balch, associate professor of Georgia Tech's College of Computing and director of the IPRE. He notes that many students in robotics often have to spend much of their time recreating solutions that already exist to basic problems (such as how to program a wheeled robot to move in a straight line).
"Each robot is a one-off new development," says Balch. A large part of the work, he says, is making modules--software components that take input from sensors and deliver output other components can comprehend--work together. This low-level busy work can thwart his pedagogical goal: to teach 3,000 students about computer science at a high level; "so the robotics part has to be easy and robust," he says. Compounding the problem, various sensors and other robot components are made by different companies. "At present," Balch says, "we have to get source code and manually integrate the pieces."
Programming frameworks such as Pyro and network robot control servers such as Player/Stage are already used by Balch and others. But none of them has become a standard. And Microsoft has struggled to capture the market: the company's WinCE software never took off as an embedded operating system for robots. As a result, integration remains a piecemeal, often onerous task.
"Integration is the hardest part of the process," says Balch; in fact, for larger robotics projects, he's contracted with companies that specialize in robotics integration, such as Evolution Robotics.
Paolo Pirjanian, president and CTO of Evolution Robotics, also attended the RoboBusiness conference this June, and was one of the few voices to express concerns about Microsoft's move into robotics. He says it's not just because his company markets its own ERSP robotics platform, which he says is "similar in spirit to MSRS."
"I think it's a positive signal to the industry," Pirjanian says about Microsoft's entry into robotics and about Trower's statement at RoboBusiness that he sees the industry taking off in 5 to 10 years. However, Pirjanian says he's concerned that adopting Microsoft's product as a platform could marginalize an entire segment of robotics, one he feels is crucial for its future.
"Our vision [of robotics' future] is embedded solutions onto low-cost hardware," Pirjanian says. "In most robots in the near future, products will have to be cost-optimized," he said. This, he added, would mean lower-cost processors--the type that could not support the overhead required by Windows and MSRS. Pirjanian pointed to the Roomba, which uses only a 16-bit processor, coupled with clever programming, to reach a consumer price point.
But small, specialized, and relatively unintelligent robots seem to have no place in the thinking of Microsoft's Trower. He waxes enthusiastic about a day when his desktop computer can control household devices, displacing the autonomy of robots to a centralized source.

Microsoft copies everything from a graphical desktop OS over game consoles with G5 processors to a LabVIEW/Lego-Mindstorms-like graphical programming environments that interacts with the real world.
The only good news is that their copies never top the originals. This is a universal law and pretty much independent of consumer response too (they all seem to prefer to go for the fast buck).

  • Robotics error and issue within SL24 Tape library with Solaris 10

    Dear All,
Kindly may any one help me with this issue or at least give me a hint about where to begin thinking about the solution from
I have a tape library SL24 which is attached to the server V240 my backup server on which the robotics is not seen by the veritas net backup and when I try some commands like
    #sgscan
    the robotics isn't discovered
the Veritas docs says that this is issue is related to the Solaris OS
so can any one give me what are the possible causes to that error ?
knowing that there is no zoning in this datacenter

Did this configuration of your V240 and the SL24 ever work?
Here's the documentation for the SL24:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25510_01/index.html
Here's the documentation for the V240:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19088-01/v240.srvr/index.html
I have a tape library SL24 which is attached to the server V240 ,,, attached to what? I don't think the integrated SCSI port is compatible and therefore you'll need to buy and install an appropriate HBA for the computer.
    Start with the documentation.

  • FIRST Robotics FRC - LabVIEW design pattern

Can someone share his/her experience in the design pattern used in the FIRST Robotics FRC competition? Will the "producer-consumer" structure work on CRIO with LabVIEW real-time? or are there any advantages of teaching kids the design patterns (knowing we have only six and a half weeks to complete the project)?
I have been using LabVIEW at work for a while, but never used CRIO and LabVIEW realtime. This year is my first year of being a mentor of a local high school robotics team. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Ian,
In LabVIEW Real-Time, the producer-consumer structure is useful if you are trying to pass data from a high-speed, deterministic loop to a slow loop (i.e. one that is writing the data to a file). However, the design pattern is slightly different in Real-Time, as you will want to use FIFOs to transfer the data instead of queues. This design pattern may or may not be advantageous depending on your application. More information on this design pattern can be found here.

  • Labview help for first robotics team 3959 dashboard/gyro

how do we get the robotcode to write to the dashboard in such away so that the indicatior on the custom dashboard we put in gets output from the robot code to give us a visual that is useable during competiton so that instead of having to use the indicator on the front panel of the robot code we get that on the dashboard we have the indicator already there and all the stuff we need but how do we use the SD write/read numeric(in library under dashbaord) to incorperate this need on the dashboard

A couple of things. First, write clearly! Sentences and punctuation help you communicate.
Second, don't post screenshots as Word documents. Many users of this forum will refuse to open them. Paste your screenshot into mspaint and save it as a PNG.
Finally, questions about the FIRST Robotics program are better asked in the FIRST Robotics Competition Community. Try posting there.

  • Labview help for first robotics team 3959

I am from team 3959 in the first robotics competition and we are stumped on something and have been for a while. We are trying to make a code for a shooter(ran by a vex pro jaguar) that launches frisbees(go to the first website for more info.) and a servo code(a vex pro servo) both in a Teleop.vi but although they have no code in common they conflict. the shooter code works fine as does the servo but if used at the same time the shooter runs a full neutral. I have added pictures of both codes to show. one is labeled working servo the other is a jaguar code. please if anyone could possibly help it would be great

Questions about FRC should be posted in the FIRST Robotics Competition Community.
Please don't use Word documents for screenshots. Paste the screenshot into mspaint and save as a PNG, or even better, upload your code as an attachment. I'm an experienced FRC mentor and I still can't figure out what's going on in your screenshot because so much is crossed out and circled. Possibly the problem is that the servo code runs in a loop - why is it in a while loop? There's already a while loop further up in the code; if you put a loop like that inside your code, it will prevent the main loop from repeating until the inside loop finishes, which means anything else that is supposed to run repeatedly will run only once (until the servo loops stops; then it will run again one time and the servo loop will restart, etc.)

  • Controlling/Setting of the Torque of a Motor in Robotics Module 2013

    Hi all,
I am using Robotics Module 2013.
I currently work on a project about simulation of industrial robots but I have a problem with Robotics Module.
In simulator, we are able to set positions or velocities of motors.
By using this, I have tested my inverse kinematics algorithms and velocity profile tracking.
I want to share a video about it but in fact
I am unable to give a youtube video link.
But now, I am going to obtain the dynamical model of the robot
and I have to control torques of motors in the model.
So, how can I do it?
    Is it possible?
    Please help me
    Thank you

    Thank you for your answer Mr/Mrs Paolo;
I know that VI but I think you miss understand my question.
I did not asked how to calculate torques
I asked that how can I apply the torques(which I have calculated some other way - such as adaptive control or robust control etc)
to the motors on the Simulator Display Window.
I can set positions, I can set velocities but
I am unable to apply a torque or current.
Because of unable to apply a torque, I can not move linkages heavier than 1 kgs!
I will share a video of my simulation.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ipt8-BsxqWw
In this simulation, joints are controlled by set position and set velocities.
But for computed torque control techniques, I should apply torques to the motors and
see the responses of my control algorithm in simulation.
I hope I could tell my problem in details.
    Thank you again
