ROLE OF AN ABAPER

WHAT ARE THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ABAPER IN A SUPPORT PROJECT

hi
good
Typically, an ABAPer's role would consist of the following:
a. in collaboration with a business consultan, he/she will analyse and design the program to be implemented
b. write the program's code
c. do an initial debug and proof-testing to get any syntactical and programming bugs
d. do modifications and improvements on the code of a program based on the feedback from the repsective business consultants and/or end-users
Of course, depending on the project's magnitude and other aspects of it, more roles might be assigned or some others may not be assigned.

  • Role of an ABAPer in Workflow functions

    Hi Friends,
I want your valuable suggestions about WORKFLOW i.e. i mean to ask u that who performs this in realtime, is this the role of an Functional Consultant or Technical Consultant. So, is it suggested to learn WorkFlow for an ABAPer.
It would be a great help to me. TIA
    Thanks
    Suren

    Hi suren,
The role of an abaper in workflow is very crucial. It is his responsibility to create and customize the workflow according to the business scenario.
There are different types of requirement,eg., like a workflow should be triggered after a material is created, etc. This has to sometimes achieved programmatically or some special settings has to be done in workflow transaction & this is where an abaper comes into picture.
    Best of luck,

  • What is the role of an ABAPer in ESS/MSS applications???

    Hi all,
I am new to this area and if someone can explain the role of ABAPer in ESS/MSS implementation that would be helpful to me, also mail any documents pertaining to these concepts to mail id :
    Your help will be rewarded.

    Hi,
The Role of the ABAP er in ESS/MSS would depends on the type of application we are developing
Basically the responsibilities would be to develop
The Back end coding like creating classes , methods, and Transfering data from objects to XSLT/XML
If we are using BSP pages for the portal then the central class will be assigned as controller class and the related coding will be done in the methods of the class.

  • Re:Role of an Abaper in support projects

    Hi,
What can be the role of an abaper in support projects and moreover what is production support and development support. How do we handle issues in production supoort i.e., we directly login to the production server and solve or we copy the code in development and solve.
    Plz clarify....
    Thanks
    Vamshi

    Hi Vamsi,
Abaper role in Support projects is solve the issues of ABAP related in production. it may be data inconsistance, program logic is incorrect, data dictionary issues, Dump error and so on. You can analyse in production server and do necessary changes in develoment server. Development server having program no need to copy it.

  • Role Mapping For Portal Role Assignment and ABAP Role Assignment

    Summary:
    - Under the GRC configuration of Roles> Role Mapping we are trying to utilize the  role mapping feature in GRC for associating a dependent role to a main role.
    - We want to use this role mapping feature for the purposes of adding an Enterprise Portal role for every ABAP role that gets approved for the user in an ABAP component system (i.e. ECC, BW, CRM etc). We will have a 1:1 mapping of Enterprise Portal role to ABAP role defined in the role mapping section in GRC.
    - We want to set up the workflow in such a way that the main role (ABAP role) is the only role that needs to be approved. The dependent role (Enterprise Portal role) should be added or not added based on the approval or denial of the main role (ABAP role). In other words if the role owner for the abap role approves the abap role, then both the abap and EP role will be provisioned by GRC and if the role owner rejects/denies the role, then neither the abap or EP role will be provisioned by GRC.
    Problem Description:
    Our Scenarios we tested:
    Scenario 1:
Main Role:  Attached to Initiator A & workflow A (routes to single approver based on role)
Dependent Role:  Attached to Initiator B & workflow B (routes to auto approval or no approval)
*Problem with the Scenario 1setup above, the dependent role will always get approved & provisioned regardless of the approval or denial of the main role.
    Scenario 2:
Main Role:  Attached to Initiator A & workflow A (routes to single approver based on role)
Dependent Role:  Attached to Initiator A & workflow A(routes to single approver (same as main approver) based on role)
*Problem with the Scenario 2 setup above, the dependent role will always also need to get approved by the same approver as main role and it opens the possibility that the approver may accidently approve the main role and deny the dependent role, which is not the ideal setup as we inherit the risk of human error.
    Questions:
    1. Does the dependent role need to be defined in an initiator at all since it will never directly be requested directly?
    2.  If the dependent role does need to be in the initiator file, please describe how to properly setup the initiator and workflow stage & path so that we can maintain the desired relationship with the main role approval dependency? (if the role owner for the main role approves the main role, then both the main role and dependent role will be provisioned by GRC and if the role owner rejects/denies the main role, then neither the main role or depedent role will be provisioned by GRC
Edited by: Rene Griffith on Feb 26, 2010 10:22 PM

    I tested this set up.
    1.  Defined ABAP role as Manin role
    2.  Defined Non-ABAP role as dependednt role
    3. ABAP role  is set up in initiator requiring business approval.
    4.  Non-ABAP role is set up in initiator with no approval required.
Results Where Business Approver approves the ABAP Role
    1. Only the ABAP role is displayed in approver view which is desirable.
    2.  ABAP role is approved and Non-ABAP role and ABAP role is provisioned.
Results Where Business Approver rejects the ABAP Role
    1. Only the ABAP role is displayed in approver view which is desirable.
    2.  ABAP role is rejected but  Non-ABAP role is provisioned which is not what we want.  We want the Non-ABAP role not to provision if the ABAP role is rejected by the business approval.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • How to create Roles in UME (ABAP+JAVA stack)

    Hi,
I have created roles earlier on JAVA stack alone. However, this time I am working on JAVA+ABAP stack. When I am trying to create role in UME, I am getting only two tabs:
    General Information
    Assigned Groups
I am not getting Assinged Actions tab here. How do I assing actions ?
Can any one please help me in creating roles in ABAP+JAVA stack.
That would be  a great help!
    Regards
    Faisal

    HI Faisal,
When ABAP is the UME, you can only edit users / groups that are J2EE only. Any group that is defined in ABAP is read-only for the Java Server to prevent conflicts (there is no synchronization) and has to be changed in ABAP.
Please take a look at this link, which has a great graphic describing this.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/7c/36dcd59865b246b993c471199ba37a/content.htm
So, if the Java group was created in ABAP, the ABAP user has to have the ABAP role assigned to him, so that he is in the group on the Java server. make sense? The graphic in the link above really explains it well I think.
If you a new / custom Java group (not in ABAP) then you should be able to assign users to it from the Java server.

  • Save new workbook in menue role with VBA / ABAP

    Hello,
does anybody know of a way to save a workbook which is not stored in SAP BW by then in a menue role folder through VBA or ABAP automatically?
I know that there is the SAPBEXsaveWorkbook function in VBA but that only works if the workbook already has an ID in BW. Maybe there is some workaround to assign name and ID beforehand? Where does the BEx get the ID if the workbook already has one? Is it stored in a temporary mapping table or something? I found that there are NO very hidden sheets as long as there are no queries embedded in the workbook, and I want to save a workbook WITHOUT queries.
Also, I know that there is the saveDialogWorkbook function, but as stated above the saving process should be automatically, i.e. a function like SAPBEXsaveWorkbook(name As String, role As String, node-id As String). By the way, where would I get the node-id for the nodes in the menue role?
    Thank you for ANY hints!

    Hi Peter,
thanks for your update! Saving in the "root folder" of a role might already be sufficient if we don't figure out how to save in folders.
I've done some research, too, and the strange thing is that the number at the end is obviously not the folder ID. When you choose "Open -> Workbooks", then copy a workbook entry using Ctrl+C and paste it in an editor, you get more information than what is displayed in the dialog even with technical names turned on. The pasted entry includes the role name and the number you referred to. And the thing is that even two workbooks in the same folder have different numbers! When you save a workbook using 0000000000 and then look at the number assigned in the way described above, it also has an ID different from 0000000000. It seems that every workbook has its own number. So to me it's still a mistery where the folder is specified.

  • Role of a ABAPer in workflow

I am very new to workflow concept.
Please can anyone explain me ABAPer role in creating or customizing workflow.
My doubt is ..whether ABAPer will create jobs, positions, task or Basis people?
At what stages there will be interaction with the functional people and what are the things to be collected before starting workflow?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
1] Workflow is Simulation of Business processes automated through SAP.
May be you can take a process for applying for leave Leave.
In this Leave scenario we can automate it stepwise,
    1) Employee apply for leave with dates
    2) mail shoot to Manager
    3) He can accept ot reject, May be he can approve with modified dates.
2] As you can see Applying for leave is 1st step so it can be a trigeering event for workflow. Means Workflow starts with event.

  • Find user SAP Portal role in an abap program

    Dear all,
We would like to check the SAP Portal role of a Portal user in a R/3 abap program.
do you know if there is a bapi or a RFC module function to do that ?
For example : the user CCDEMO (exists in EP and in R/3 backend) has a Buyer Portal role. In an abap program, I would like to have this information.

  • Mapping SAP R3 role to EP role for WD ABAP Application

    Hi,
I have a WD ABAP application which uses POWL component.
I have assigned this application to a role in SAP R3 system.
Now, I have created an iview in portal for this WD ABAP application.
I want to map this SAP R/3 role to Portal Role so that only people having that role can see the application on portal.
    How do I handle this?
    Thanks and regards,
    Amey

    Hi,
    Scenario 1:
You need to maintain 2 roles one from Portal and one from R/3
    On the portal end:
Assign the role which have the WDA application to all the users who should have access.
    On the R/3 end:
Assign the R/3 role which you have created to access the WDA application to all the users for whom you have added the Portal Role.
    Scenario 2:
If using CUA (Central User Administration) as UME for Portal and also R/3 then you can maintain the roles from one place that is from CUA.
You create a role in CUA and this role is shown as group in Portal now add the Portal role to the group or the CUA role.
And create another role which gives access to the WDA application. Now add these 2 roles to all the users who are supposed to have access to the application.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers-
    Pramod

  • PFCG - ROLES DEFINITION FOR ABAP TEAM

    Dear SAP Professionals,
I would like to know your thoughts, ideas, templates and resources, on authorization objects and roles we should define and / or create in the company for ABAP development team.
Also, it will be very valuable being able to receive information about that definition, for BASIS team.
Look forward for your answer, and if you need further explanation pls feel free to make it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rodolfo

The SAP_BC_DWB_WBDISPLAY is ABAP display only I think (pls correct me if I'm wrong) and this will give to little authorizations to display in production for them.
We used the display roles in production that we have created per module (FI, MM, et cetera). and assigned them to one composite display role.
The template roles can be a good start for the non production systems, but in our case they where to limited and they needed more authorizations, also for the functional modules. So we ended up creating a new developer composite role that was a combination of the basic ABAPdeveloper role with additional functional roles.
The result is that they have many authorizations in the non production system and  additional compensenating controls where needed to minimize the risk. The good thing is that they don't need critical authorizations in the production system and we can monitor the usage of the firefighter use in the production system.
