Role of MOLAP in performance

Hi SDN,
Can any one explain the Role of MOLAP in performance.
Thanks=points.
Pilli.

Hi,
In 3x we can create aggregates either on a basis of a ROLAP store or on a basis of a MOLAP store. The MOLAP store was a platform specific means of optimizing query performance. It uses Microsoft Analysis Services and for this reason it was only available for Microsoft SQL server database platform. BecauseHPA indexes, available with SAP Netweaver 2004s, are a platform independent alternative to ROLAP aggregates with high performance and low administrative costs, the MOLAP store is no longer supported.

  • Role Upload - Could not perform action

    Gurus,
I am attempting to upload a sampling of R/3 ECC 6.0 roles into the portal (EP6). I have the system connection defined and testing successfully. I unfortunately can not execute the upload function. After defining the selections that I wish to upload, in this case a role, I receive the red exclamation mark followed by "Could not perform action. Check the role migration log for additional information"
I also have not been able to locate this migration log. I have searched here and sap's help portal for the location of this log but to no avail. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Mike,
usually you are able do drill down this information further more.
If you do not know which file to check look in the defaultTrace.<no>.log for more information. There will be a hint to dive in much deeper.
On the page where you get this message there is a tab "Log Viewer" please have a look at this to get more information.
    Best regards,

  • Role of Competencies in Performance & Development module... Impact?

    Hi every one,
I have got a tricky question from my client.
My client doesnu2019t want to implement "Competencies", but asked us to provide OM, PA, Training & Event, Personnel Development and Talent Management systems.
I understand that without Competencies "we cannot score individual's qualifications, we cannot run profile matchup against ee's job or desired job, we cannot do query trainings based on qualifications gap, we cannot derive what are the qualifications required to perform a job".
But, I am bit confused with a question- What would be the other direct and indirect impact when the Competencies are not implemented in scope of the project (OM, PA, Training & Event, Personnel Development and Talent Management areas).
I will be very thankful if any one can share their knowledge / experiences here.
    Many Thanks

Well, it sounds to me that these parameters are self explaining, but let me give a try anyway.
Changing: You can use this parameter to import some data into your functionmodule, change it and send it back to the caller. This way you don't need an import and export parameter.
Tables: In the early days, you could only transfer tabular data into a function module using the TABLES parameter. So instead of transferring (import and/or export) one record, you can now pass several records to the function module.
BTW: You could als use the F1 help for this, search on help.sap.com, or search SCN first, before even thinking about posting a standard question like this.

  • What is the proper role of OLAP meta-data?

One basic feature continues to confuse me with regards to the Oracle OLAP option. What is the proper role and/or purpose of creating OLAP meta-data? Since you can now use the Analytic Workspace Manager to create multi-dimensional OLAP objects, doesn't that now create all the neccesary meta-data in the Analytic Workspace itself?
We have created a fully functioning prototype system with both multi-dimensional cubes as well as relational tables using both Oracle Discoverer for OLAP and Oracle BI Discoverer to view that data. And we have done so without EVER taking the explicit steps to create OLAP meta-data, i.e. using the CWM or CWM2 packages. Am I missing something? Is it still neccesary to use these packages and if so what are they for? Are there any Oracle OLAP experts that would care to comment?

Most implementations of the OLAP option are analytic workspaces (MOLAP). The usual motivators towards MOLAP are performance of builds/aggregations and query and additional calculation capabilities offered by the multidimensional engine. Also, the administrative infrastructure is better with MOLAP (because that's what most users use).
Sometimes customers want to do a ROLAP implementation because they're more familiar with tables and feel comfortable about managing security, high availability and disaster recovering. Also, some customer want to access the data with SQL based tools. But, remember with Oracle OLAP the data is all in the database (safe, secure, same management practices, RAC/Grid enabled, etc) and you can query it with SQL. Those are some of the things that make Oracle OLAP so terrific as compared to stand alone OLAP servers.
That doesn't necessarily mean that MOLAP is correct for every application, but MOLAP is probably used more than 90% of the time.
If you would like a white paper discussing when to use MOLAP, feel free to send me at email <[email protected]>

  • How to get role check in web dynpro abap

    Hi,
I am creating an web dynpro application and i need to perform certain functions based on the verification of role name .
To the users which are been assigned to the particular role only they can perform the desired application.
But i dont know what condition should be given in order to get the role name from the sap gui as well as from the netweaver portal.
I would also like to ask how can we import the roles from netweaver portal to sap gui or how can we set authorisations on those roles which are been created in netweaver portal

    Hi,
There is no support for using portal API to get the roles in webdynpro ABAP.
So the best way to achieve this would be create an iview for your webdynpro ABAP application and control the user access by assigning them permission and placing the content in "Security zones" which makes the content non-accessible to the user if he is assigned with the role and intill he has required zone assigned to him.

  • BI Content - Install Roles (ACGR)

    Hi BI experts,
I am currently administering security for a BI 7 system and I have a quick question regarding BI Content (Object Types).
Recently, I ran the transaction RSA1 -> BI Content -> Object Types and there is a type called "Role - ACGR".  I noticed that I can select a role and click "Install".
My question is, what does this do?  When would I need to "Install" a role in BI 7 and what would be the result if I perform this action?
    Thanks!

I see.  I guess I should give a little background as to why I asked this question.  Basically, a colleague of mine was attempting to install the BI Admin Cockpit.  During the installation process, there were error messages that went something like this:
No authorization for transporting role SAP_BW_BI_ADMINISTRATOR (see long text)
    Installation of Role (ACGR)
No authorization to create role SAP_BWC_BI_ADMINISTRATOR
Transferring the 1 objects from type ACGR took 0.0 seconds
We later investigated and my colleague had found the "Install" option mentioned in my opening post within transaction RSA1, which prompted me to ask this question.
Anyhow, we ended up not having to install any role manually.  We performed SU53 and I assigned a role containing the missing authorization object to his user ID and the installation proceeded smoothly.
However, as you can see it seems there was an "Installation of Role (ACGR)" which I am more interested to find out what that is actually doing.
EDIT:  Okay, looking back at the reponse I think I'm beginning to understand.  Let me know if I understand this correctly.  Let's say the role SAP_BW_BI_ADMINISTRATOR provides access to certain InfoProviders.  However, some of these InfoProviders have not been installed in the system, therefore SAP does a check and installs these missing InfoProviders.
Is my example above the correct reasoning?

  • ARQ: Default Role Provisioning Problem in Access Request???

    Hi,
This Business Scenario is very common to have default role(s) assigned to a User at the back end system. So I have the same requirement. In achieving this, I followed below thread here:
    MSMP Issue - GRC 10
I have also followed the note#1616092  for configuring the Default Roles.
    I have performed below activities:
    1. Param#2009 = YES
    2. Param#2010 = 001
    3. Param#2011 = REQUEST
    4. Param#2013 = SYSTEM
    5. Param#2038 = YES
    6. Imported a test role and NO ROLE OWNER is maintained.
    7.In NWBC->-AM->RM, I maintained a test role as a default.
Now when I raise a request, application is successfully adding the default role to the request. However, the problem I am facing is that, one Manager approves the request, it is getting failed.
The Audit Log says that, the STAGE is "Completed" but I could also see "No Agent Found, Cancelling path XYZ (in stage no. 002- GRAC_ROLEOWNER)
May I know what I am missing here? Why I am getting error and how can I resolve it?
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Faisal

    Hi Faisal,
sorry for late resposne I was away traveling.
default roles are being added by default to access request
Yes, these roles are added to the access request.
    FN: OK
and this roles are following your normal paths which I guess assumes manager and role owner.
How such roles (not having role owner) will follow the normal path Manager->Role Owner if we are enabling routing (Rule ID: GRAC_MSMP_ROUTE_NO_ROLEOWNER) at manager stage level? Can you please help me understand this?
FN: OK If you enable routing it will go to routing path. I have understood your post as you put in question the behavior of default roles and my point was - they act exacly the same like regular roles.
    - request is going to detour path
    Does it answer my question?
FN: My point was default roles like all other will go to detur path (assuming you setup it globaly)
Deafault roles can have separate path (in my case) where only supervisor is approving it.
Instead of "GRAC_MSMP_ROUTE_NO_ROLEOWNER"  I believe we can have our own rule to have a separate path for such default roles based upon business requirement. Correct me, if required.
    FN; correct
It was design in way that initiator rule based on role crtivality is sending this rule to separate path without role owner.
Again, I believe you have enabled your custom rule here to achieve your business requirement instead standard rule id.
    correct
If you do not have separate path - this role like any other will follow standard path you have.
Here, I had used a stage called "ZNO_STAGE_PATH" for routing the system line item, which does not have any owner. I used the same path ID for "GRAC_MSMP_ROUTE_NO_ROLEOWNER"Rule ID and it is working fine as of now.
    FN: good
My question is that, do you think if I don't use "ZNO_STAGE_PATH" as Path ID for "GRAC_MSMP_ROUTE_NO_ROLEOWNER" Rule ID, should it follow the standard Manager->Role Owner path and these default roles get approved and assigned automatically?
FN: You should use the path ZNO_STAGE_PATH as path ID for routing rule.
If the role does not have role owner it will not allow you the even get to Role Onwer stage - request will be detured.
My point from the begining was - instead of using the routing rule - in our case we used separate path for default roles without role owner:) only consisted with manager stage. Again your approach is different but also will work.
Then which Path ID should I use for "GRAC_MSMP_ROUTE_NO_ROLEOWNER" Rule ID, as it is mandatory?
Should I use my current path for New/Change Account where at Manager level this was routed due to non availability of role owner?
Are you asking for default roles?
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Faisal

  • 2 Business Roles - Navigate from One to Another

    Hello
My Key user is assigned a regular Web UI Business Role(CASEWORKER) and it is used for daily work.
However he needs to access standard FCC_AGENT IC specific role in order to process the Collection Work Items occasionally.
Solution which I am thinking was to assign both the Business Roles to User.
However the disadvantage is: User have to switch back to Other Role in order to perform the Operation. Moreover the User is not really happy with this approach.
Is there any other option available ?
Is that possible to Open a new Session (for Secondary Role) from Navigation Bar of first Business Role ?
    Please advise.
    Cheers

    Hi Remo,
Maybe you can consider configuring a new business role for your key-user, where you can put all workcenter that he needs (from both business roles that you indicated).
    What do you think?
    Kind regards,

  • Manual Task Two Roles

    Hi everyone
I have in one of my processes a manual task, which wanted the could see one of the roles in the worklist view but in read-only mode, and other roles in edit mode and you can select the output path of the same task.
    Is this possible?
    Regards,

    Hi Andres,
I'm not clear on your requirement and use case from the description, but here are my thoughts.
If the use case is one of a user working on the task and another user in another role reviewing the work performed in that task, then I would consider these two separate tasks as they are performing separate functions, and the view of the data (read-only vs read-write, what's displayed, etc.) can be determined for each task's data.
If the use case is that some users are workers for instances of a particular task while other users are not workers but monitoring instances of those tasks, then you could accomplish this by:
-giving role A the Worklist Viewer permission, while giving role B the Search View permission (but not Worklist Viewer permission)
-give role A and role B permission to the task in question
This would allow users in role A to work on those tasks while users in role B can see the tasks but not perform work on them. This would not work if the users in role B are also expected to perform (do work on) other tasks, however, given they would not have the worklist viewer permission.
If neither of the above is what you were looking for, could you please provide more details for your use case?
    Thanks,
    Marc

  • BHOLD Default Supervisor not showing up in drop down list when trying to add a role.

    Hi All,
I am trying to add a new role to one of my BHOLD installations, and when I do that I do not have a "default supervisor role" listed in the drop down. A supervisor role is required to be able to create a role. I am performing the operation as a
B1 admin with the default supervisor role.
In another installation I can do it just fine. I have found no delta between the two as far as permissions are concerned. Anyone have an idea? Thanks.

    Matt,
Do you have a large number or roles, as in >500, maybe 1000s? I have seen an issue where a customer had 1000s of roles. There are some SPROCs that look for top 500 or something similar. I think a workaround was to change the SPROCs, not saying your should
do that necessarily but I believe that is what they did to get around this.

    Hi Seema,
The Basic responsibility of a CRM Functional Consultant are
    1. Understand the Clients Business Process
    2. Mapping the Business Process with SAP CRM Process
    3. Collecting the requirements of the client
    4. Analyzing the requirements with respect to SAP CRM
    5. Configuring the SAP CRM system according to clients requirement.
    6. Co-ordinating with technical tem members to reach the technical requirements.
Precisely as a Functional Consultant, one has to interact with the client very often to map the business requirements with SAP CRM business Process.
    Hope I have answered you.

  • "Office 365 Mailbox" missing for users that are member of Ricipent Management role

    Hi,
I have a hybrid setup with Office 365 and one exchange 2013 standard server on-premises.
I currently have an issue with that I have a button after pressing the + under recipient to create a Office 365 mailbox from the ECP, but users that are members of the Recipient Management role don't have that button visible.
What extra permissions are required to be able to create an Office 365 mailbox from the on-premises Exchange?

    Hi SeidKrv,
    Thanks for your update.
Following article introuduces the permissions that need to assigned before running "New-Mailbox" command.
Please focus on "Recipient Provisioning Permissions" session.
    Recipients Permissions
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638132(v=exchg.150).aspx
Based on the article, it seems both Recipient Management role and Organization Management role are required.
More detailed information on both management role as below:
    1. Administrators who are members of the Recipient Management role group have administrative access to
create or modify Exchange 2013 recipients within the Exchange 2013 organization.
    2. Administrators that are members of the Organization Management role group have administrative access to the entire Exchange 2013 organization and
can perform almost any task against any Exchange 2013 object, with some exceptions. By default, members of this role group can't perform mailbox searches and management of unscoped top-level management
    roles.

  • QUESTION ABOUT CLIENT ACCESS ROLE AND MAILBOX SERVER INSTALLATION ON DIFFERENT HOSTS

If i install one mailbox server and three client access servers on three different hosts, then what will be the url to open ecp and owa?and also to do this kind of installation, what should i do?please help.
    trainee

Well, you can open ECP URL Internally by using any of following URL
    1. https://host1/ecp
    2. https://host2/ecp
    3. https://host3/ecp
OR if you have DNS entry for mail, lets say mail.domain.com then you can open your ECP using https://mail.domain.com/ecp
As far as deployment is concerned i won't recommend this deployment. You are trying to achieve HA of CAS server role but mailbox server role who will be performing most of the Exchange 2013 tasks is not redundant. I would recommend you to have 2 CAS servers
in NLB with 2 Mailbox Servers in DAG for HA. Exchange 2013 is loosely coupled and you can install any of these roles first. Thanks.
Hope this answers your questions. Kindly mark this as answer if found helpful.

  • User with 2 permissions assigned via groups, not able to utilize the higher privilege

User has been assigned Publishing Editor, this was assigned by being a member of a group, where group's permission is publishing editor.
In addition, the user has been assigned Reviewer, this also was assigned by being a member of a group, where group's permission is Reviewer.
The issue: The user can only perform functions related to the Reviewer role, and can't perform functions available via the Publishing Editor.
Any Ideas what is going on?
*Removing the user from the Reviewer group is not an option.

    Hi,
The easiest way is to grant the single user Publishing Editor permission of that folder directly, check if the issue persists.
Right click on the folder, Properties -> Permissions -> Add the user with Publishing Editor permission.
