Rollover Behaviors IE6 SP2

Has anyone had problems with FW generated rollover images
disappearing in IE6 SP2? I have seen this on more than one site and
in each case on initial loading moving the mouse over an up state
button image does not display the over image although the link is
active. More, on clicking all button images disappears leaving a
white hole - the odd thing is that the more problematic pop-up menu
works perfectly.
When viewing the same sites in IE6 SP1/Opera/Firefox/Netscape
all behaviours are 'normal'
Any ideas or help gratefully received
Cheers jackyd

Post a link to the page please.
Do you know all the problems with those FW pop-up menus?

  • Loss of rollover behavior with animated GIF

    I am currently working on a webpage design that has lost the ability of the rollover behavior on a page when animated gifs are optimized.  The gif images are on seperate states that cycle forever, but the rollover slices at the top of page will flash slightly when moused over but go back to original state.  The other pages that don't have the animated gif will work properly and hold the image when highlighted.  I have changed the rollover behavior on the master page from simple to swap image and that does not help.  I have also tried to insert the animated gif images as slices and only animate that portion on the page, but I can't get that to work either.   Any tips?
    Thanks

    I found out that it works better to import the animated GIF's through dreamweaver.
    It is now working.

  • Cannot find flash player 10 after install: xp pro, IE6, SP2

    I have been trying for a week to install Flash Player 10 to no avail. I uninstall and reinstall every time. I have XP Professional Media version, IE6, ans SP2. After install, from which I get no errors and a successful install message, I search for flash player and cannot find it anywhere on my C drive. Any ideas? Is there still a problem with trying to install with IE? Thanks for your help and support.

    Flash Player is a browser plugin, not an installed application. It's not designed to work as a standalone app for opening FLV or SWF.  It's designed to play SWF content inside a web page inside your browser.
    Now, if you must open local content then you can either open those using File: Open in your browser, or you can get the FLash Player 10 Standalone player from the archived players technote here:  kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html

  • Strange Rollover Behavior

    I have developed a portfolio site that features a series of
    rollover thumbnails. When the mouse rolls over the thumb, it
    colorizes and opens a movie that features a two frame movie symbol
    that has a larger image. Everything works great until you go too
    quickly over the thumbnails. They seem to get out of sync. The
    viewed images work backward and there is residual image for the
    next thumb. It creates quite a mess. I know I'm probably just
    missing a line of code, or the images need to be put in the
    timeline differently, but I can't seem to figure it out. Please
    help! The portfolio can be viewed at
    http://www.ruppertdesign.com/portfolio.html.
    Roll over the images fairly quickly to view the problem. The code
    underlying each rollover button is:
    on (rollOver) {
    tellTarget ("/gd1") {
    gotoAndPlay("start");
    on (rollOut) {
    tellTarget ("/gd1") {
    gotoAndPlay("stop");
    Thank you for your help!!!

    Open new file in flash CTRL N and create new movie clip (CTRL
    F8).
    You will automatically be in that movie clip authoring mode.
    Import all the images and place each image on its on frame.
    Select frame 1, go to file - import.
    Select frame 2, hit F7 key (new blank frame) import another
    image,
    select another frame after that, F7 and again, import new
    image.
    Now, if you name these images img1 img2 img3 img4 (or
    something_01 something_02)
    as long as they follow up with name and numbering, flash will
    recognize it and ask
    you upon import if you want to get single image or entire
    sequence, if you pick
    sequence, than automatically each image will be places on
    individual frame.
    Save you some work.
    The movie clip is done.
    Open library CTRL L and drag in on stage. Select it and hit
    CTRL F3 to open properties
    panel. CTRL F3 opens properties for everything in flash so
    whether you select frame,
    button, movie clip or graphic, you use same CTRL F3.
    Give the movie clip some instance name "myPhotos" and than
    all need is the button action:
    _root.myPhotos.gotoAndStop(1); or (3); etc...
    Just like I explained in previous mail, by using multiple
    buttons to run one
    timeline within this movie clip, you won't be able to jam it
    as each roll over will
    reset it and there won't be any of the previous image left.
    With multiple movie clips as you did, you need more than roll
    over. You need
    to over complicate stuff to make it work properly, sometimes
    the easy method
    are just more reliable.
    any problems - ask away....

  • Rollover behaviors

    I created a page with rolllovers

  • Safari  & CSS rollover behavior problem

    Hi,
    I have a nav bar with rollover and active CSS settings (CSS3 including easing) that are not showing up in Safari.  I suspect it has to do with the id selectors, but havn't been able to determine which ones are causing the problem.  It works fine in IE9, & FF4, and degrades okay in IE8.  But for some reason even the simple color attribute isn't working on the rollover in Safari.
    Here's a link to see what I mean: http://www.juliepoguebarnes.com/bsr
    Please help a befuddled designer.  Any assistance is very much appreciated
    - Julie

    @julie
    I spent a litle time looking at your page and through some of the iOS documentation.  Through that I did find the answer.
    First, let's look at this piece of CSS:
    ul.topnav li a:hover {
         display: block;
         color: #000;
         width: 100%;
         visibility: visible;
         text-decoration: none;
         height: 49px;
         -webkit-transition: background 500ms ease;
         -moz-transition: background 500ms ease;
         -o-transition: background 500ms ease;
         transition: background 500ms ease;
         -webkit-box-shadow: inset 1px 1px 1px 1px rgba(0, 0, 15, .2);
         -moz-box-shadow: inset 1px 1px 1px 1px rgba(0, 0, 15, .2);
         box-shadow: inset 1px 1px 1px 1px rgba(0, 0, 15, .2);
         background-color: #C7BBAD;
    The first problem is that the transition is defined when the transition is happening.  For all the webkit examples I could find, you have to define the transition before the action.  So we will cut those lines.  I also deleted a few lines because they were identical to what was defined in the normal state and thus they were duplicate.
    What I ended up with was:
    ul.topnav li a:hover {
         color: #000;
         background-color: #C7BBAD;
         -webkit-box-shadow: inset 1px 1px 1px 1px rgba(0, 0, 15, .2);
         -moz-box-shadow: inset 1px 1px 1px 1px rgba(0, 0, 15, .2);
         box-shadow: inset 1px 1px 1px 1px rgba(0, 0, 15, .2);
    Next we place the cut lines into the original link declaration:
    ul.topnav li a{
         line-height: 3.5em;
         display:block;
         -webkit-transition: background 500ms ease;
         -moz-transition: background 500ms ease;
         -o-transition: background 500ms ease;
         transition: background 500ms ease;
    And there you have it.  It's now working in Chrome, Safari and Firefox from my testing (on a Mac so I'm not looking at Windows/IE).
    @jpiracci
    The link you posted did not have a mention of the CSS3 transition.  Can you please post your affected link?

  • Can't get rollover images to work as links [was: I have a question if someone could answer?]

    I have fixed my page so I can preview it and everything is working fine but now I cant get my rollover images to work as links.  When I go to put in the link like normal the rollover behavior stops working and it is just the original image.  Any way for me to turn it into a link but still keep the rollover image change?

    Can you provide a link to your website so we can see what you're seeing?
    Without one, you're asking for an answer based on guesswork.

  • Rollover not showing in preview

    CS4 Fireworks doesn't want to preview my simple rollover, nor does it export successfully. I've only got 2 states with hotspots, went to first state and clicked on behavior handle to choose "Add Simple Rollover Behavior" as directed by Fireworks CS4 Help. That option was not there! Instead chose, "Add Swap Image Behavior" and dialog box with pre-selected State No.2 appeared and clicked OK. I was supposed to be able to view action in the preview pane at this point, but nothing. Also F12 and nothing.
    In the dialog box for "Add Swap Image Behavior" after top text "When rolling over the current slice, swap image in the slice chosen below:" there are two mysterious blank boxes, one square, the other rectangle, that take up most of the box but don't seem to do anything!?
    I also tried the drag n' drop method, dropping on the same slice and yet I see no "blue behavior line representing a rollover interaction" as indicated in Help.
    I also went direct to Behavior panel and used "+" to choose "Simple Rollover" instead of "Swap Image" (meaning I deleted the latter) for the slice in state1. Still nothing.
    Each time, the preview panes shows a change in cursor from pointer to hand when I mouse over, but no change in image.
    So what am I missing? Whatever it is, the Help directions are also missing it.

    Add a slice rather than a hotspot and give adding the behavior another try.

  • Exporting images withOUT rollover frames?

    Small pet peeve that I'm hoping is fixed by some preference
    setting...whenever I do a layout for export, I usually have a
    handful of
    images that will have rollovers, and a whole bunch that
    won't.
    However, when I export, ALL the images end up with
    rollover/_f2
    images...even those that aren't explicitely set with a
    behavior. Is there a
    way to turn that option off?
    -Darrel

    Thanks, Jim. I find this a silly 'bug', but I suppose the
    best workaround is
    to just keep my rollover menus in a separate file.

  • Disjointed rollover and jQuery (CS4)

    Hi there,
    I made a simple page that starts with a gif animation, when the animation is done, a div fades up and quickly after that another div fades up, both using jQuery. This last div holds just an image. Now I have to change that image for a simple disjointed rollover (show/hide) so that on mouseover a second image is shown. I made that rollover in FireWorks CS4 and exported it as html and images. Then I inserted the html of the rollover in place and did a preview and ouch, everyting is broken. The first hidden div doens't fade up and the second div is shown from the start. How do I fix this?

    I made that rollover in FireWorks CS4 and exported it as html and images.
    It's a huge mistake to rely on graphics apps to generate HTML code and scripts for you.  For best results, use DW to build your HTML & rollover behaviors.  Use graphics apps for images only.
    everyting is broken. The first hidden div doens't fade up and the second div is shown from the start.
    Evidently, you have script conflicts or some other egregious code errors that are killing your page.
    Validate your code:
         CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
         HTML - http://validator.w3.org/
    How do I fix this?
    No way to tell without seeing your page.  To simplify things, you could try a CSS Rollover method rather than another JavaScript.

  • Simple rollover question

    I have a page and I add a hotspot and a simple rollover behavior on mouse over to the hotspot, and on the 2nd state in the states panel I duplicate the first state and simply add a shape on the 2nd state. When I test the page, it does not show the shape on rollover. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Are you using any instructional resource for this, or just freestyling? I'm not very familiar with rollover behaviors in Fireworks, but I suspect you may need to drag the Behavior handle of your hotspot to the target (a slice?). For more info, check out these Adobe resources:

  • Creating a simple rollover

    I'm trying to make a simple rollover using 2 states, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do so. Can you help, or direct me to a tutorial? Thanks.

    On the first state, draw a slice over the object you want to turn into a rollover. Once you've done that, switch back to the regular pointer tool and use it to click on the little target shape in the middle og the slice. Choose Add Simple Rollover Behavior from the pop-up menu. That's it! You can test it by clicking on the preview button at the top of the document window and mousing over your rollover object.

  • How do you do a remote rollover?

    So Im trying to create a remote rollover in an html page.
    I knew how to do it in Image Ready and GoLive.
    Now that Im using Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS3, I now dont
    know.
    Do you have to use Fireworks? (I would assume there is a
    built in way to assign remote rollover behaviors in FW)
    The help in Dreamweaver says you can swap out multiple images
    with the same rollover behavior but fails to instruct me how (as
    far as I can see)

    That's how you do it. Select the trigger (text or image) and
    apply a swap
    image behavior. In the behavior pane that opens, select the
    image you want
    to swap out, and browse to and select the one you want to
    replace it. To
    swap another image, repeat that process, until you run out of
    images. Then
    click OK to close the behavior pane.

  • Rollover / slices workflow.. how do you do it sans Image Ready?

    My old workflow use image ready to export rollovers, etc.
    If I look at a typical nav menu (for my design), I have an area that needs several different types of slices.
    1 slice involves the background, with the buttons turned off
    2 slice involves the buttons in their off state
    3 slice involves the buttons in their on state
    It seems I would need to use 3 layers of slices to accomplish this.
    My current workflow sucks - I
    -slice the background , export
    -slice the off state, export
    -toggle to my on state, then export (uses the same name as off state) but put it in a /rollover folder.
    It is a lot more work that I would like, and a pain if I have to go back and change the background... recreating the slice destroys my button slices.
    I am curious to hear about your workflow for this.
    Best,
    KCr
