Rosetta Stone Question

I have Rosetta Stone, Version 3 that's minimum system requirements are Mac OS 10.4. My computer's system is OS X 10.9.2, I just got this computer a couple weeks ago. I'm trying to download the Rosetta stone and it starts off working just fine but then the screen goes black and the page is mini in the upper left hand corner and I can't click on anything or go anywhere, the only thing I can do is restart my computer. Is this program just not going to work on my computer or am I doing something wrong? I don't know what else to do. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

I looked anywhere and couldn't find anything like that. There isn't any description of the system requirements in the user guide and the only thing it says on the box is, 'Minimum System Requirements: Windows 2000, XP or Vista, Max OS 10.4, 512 MB RAM, 600 MB free hard-drive space (per level), 16 big sound card, 800x600 display resolution (1024x768 recommened), internet or phone connection required for product ectivation. Speech recognition feature requires a headset mircophone (USB) (USB recomemended)." That's all I can find.

Macbook OS X Yosemite - Logitech headset output audio not working with Rosetta Stone

So I got my macbook air 2014 with Yosemite software and I installed Rosetta Stone and I couldn't get the Logitech Headset (H540) to get the output audio through it. The software will accept the microphone audio, but it will send the output audio throughout the internal speakers of my macbook air, or even worse, it will freeze the program until I disconnected the headset (as soon as I unplugged it from the usb, the software will continue like a nothing was going on).
So I look in dozens of webpages trying to find a solution, but I there was none. I read that for some people creating a "multi-output device" in audio midi resolved the issue, but for most people including myself, it didn't work.
So after trying different options in the Audio MIDI setups, I found the solution!! : If you change the "format" from the default 16000.00 Hz to one higher, it will work like a charm! Now everything is working perfectly for me, including the main reason of this research: Rosetta Stone program.
I hope this post helps and saves a lot of time to any of you having this same problem.

This is great! I've got one follow-on problem to this, though: My format rate seems to keep snapping back to 16000, and breaking until I go back and fix it again (32000 works fine for me). Any idea how to twiddle things so that 32000 is the default for my device?

How do I get my Rosetta Stone onto my macbook Air

I don't understand how to put my Rosetta Stone onto my new MacBook Air. I know it does not have a CD/DVD drive.

Is this a question generally regarding installing software which comes on CD/DVD, or specifically regarding problems with installing Rosetta Stone?

Rosetta Stone...should I install?

Hi - stupid question here, but should I install Rosetta Stone? I did not install this option when I performed a clean install of SL on my early 2009 Mac Pro because I feared it would negate my capabilities or handicap my SL performance.
There are a few programs that I've been wanting to install - but pass due to Rosetta requirements.
Based on some Googling...nothing really mentioned about negative performance. So I just wanted to verify via the forum.
Am I'm over paranoid?

Rosetta Stone are publishers of a range of Language teaching modules.
Rosetta is an environment that allows some Mac software complied for Power PC G3 processors to run on modern Intel Mac processors.
Unless you have such software such as Adobe CS2 or Microsoft Office or are having problems with some elderly printer drivers you probably don't need it.
There are some performance issues with software running within Rosetta notably extended loading times and no support for G4/G5 graphics acceleration.
Once launched however its a pretty seamless experience.

Downgrading for Rosetta Stone

I currently use OS x 10.4.11 and have been trying to use the Rosetta Stone program, and since I have the updated version of Safari and Rosetta Stone only supports Safari 2.0, I wasn't able to use it. I found out that in order to downgrade to Safari 2.0, I have to have OS 10.4.2. My computer will not allow me to install this version because it says I need 125 MB of space. I am rather confused because my Macintosh HD icon says that I have 94 GB free? Unsure of what to trust, or how to check for free space-and why this isn't working!
I called Apple today and hardly got any help at all. She seemed like she didn't know what she was doing and wasn't very interested in helping me since I am doing this solely so that Rosetta Stone will operate.
Any help would be SO appreciated!

Hi, thank you for your reply. I am using it through the Army AKO site, Rosetta Stone is offered free through the Army and I have tried contacting them and it seems that the 8 people I have spoken with are very unfamiliar with Mac's. I have gone back and forth with them for days, and no luck. We are to go through SkillSoft for technical issues.
Perhaps if I contacted Rosetta Stone alone then it would help.
Though I believe I might have just answered my own questions in going back to the program. The Arabic lessons are in the newer version, 3.0, however everything else must be an older version because the only one that works is Arabic.
I suppose there is no way around this.

I haven't yet bought the ipad but i want to take it with me while i travel but want to make sure that this is possible first.
I bought the software legally and have all the discs. It isn't an app.
Also is there any way to plug in an USB connector into an iPad 2?

As Demo said this isn't an Apple thing. It is the way the world works. Software for one platform doesn't generally work on another platform.
It is something to take up with Rosetta Stone. They do make a Total Course HD application which is free. However it looks like you need to pay for some kind of monthly subscription to hook it up with your account.
Which also makes sense. Nothing is free. Rosetta is a company that needs to make money to pay its employees. They could have included the cost of this service with the inital purchase of the system, but then all the people who don't have iPads would be complaining that they had to pay for something the didn't/couldn't use.

How do I install Rosetta Stone onto my Macbook running OSX 10.8 when installing it I go into the folder called For MAC Users and the files in there are .exe files which cant be open on a Mac. If anyone has a solution or even a download link let me know.

This is really frustrating please let me know I looked around and all the downloads cost money and I would prefer if you guys could give me a free one but a solution would be even better!!

You have the Windows version of the software. You will need to contact Rosetta Stone directly to get the Mac version of their software. I can confirm it does install on Mountain Lion without issues.

My new iMac's internal microphone is not being recognized by other applications (such as Skype or rosetta stone)?

I just bought a new iMac. I'm having trouble with the internal microphone. I went to systems preferences> sound, and checked the input levels. The computer shows recieved sound from internal microphone and a USB connected microphone. However, no one on Skype can hear me, and microphone isn't recognized while using rosetta stone. Does anyone know what could be the problem with my internal mic?

I did get an answer to my problem. It was specifically with skype and Rossetta Stone. I had to re-install the apps and then do the general upgrade. It fixed the problem. Works fine now.

Old Rosetta Stone disk is asking for an administrator

I have had an "old" Rosetta Stone 2.2a (version 2) disk that keeps crashing on my 1 year old (10.6.6) Macbook. I also use it on my imac and it works fine.
I've uninstalled the application by dragging it to the trash and emptied the trash.
Now putting the application CD back in; it is saying that I am not the administrator. Which I am; I have to sign on everytime I use the computer; I'm the only one on it.
Rosetta Stone tech support sent me back to apple to become the administrator.
Someone have an Idea what I need to do?
What I would like to see happen is for the program to work on both computers.

I think you're confused about how much hard drive space you have. You probably have 2 GB of RAM... there hasn't been a Mac shipped with only a 2 GB hard drive in a while. At the bottom of any Finder window, how much space is available?
If you're actually running low on space, you should move documents to the external drive, since many applications want to be on the system drive.

Issue with Adobe Air and Rosetta Stone in Mountain Lion.

After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to open Rosetta Stone. I was directed to update and install adobe air. I did that, then tried to open Rosetta Stone again and it said the installation of Adobe Air was damaged. I went to Adobe to reinstall and it said it's already installed. I'm now stuck in a circle...Help!

if you work with own recorded sounds you might wanna have a music program where you want to work with samples, steinberg has got very good ones (so they say)... but their really really ( ²) expensive(that's why almost no one haves them), magix haves good ones too bu their more for 'unprofessional' use, ableton haves really good ones too and they're not to difficult to use (if you know a bit of those programs you learn very quickly) and if you don't get them, there is a sort of manual built in it which explains and lets you do things to start (basics)
i hope this helped, btw stereo speakers are always better if you buy good ones (no pc speakers), but if you don't think you need them, don't buy them...

I second shldr2thewheel.
I use Rosetta Stone and have no issues getting capital letteres recognized.
But in the "writing" lessons the "soft keyboard" has a "shift" key for making the capital letters available.
