Rotating an object about a specific point!

Hello Guys!
Have a new Problem!
I want to rotate an object about a specific point. But up to now i only can rotate something about the x,y,z axis!
Is this possible to rotate a scene about the point 1,1,1?
     Transform3D rotation = new Transform3D();
     rotation.setRotation(new AxisAngle4d(-x, -y, 0,((Math.PI / 2) - angle)));
I don't handle it with Alpha because i needn't an animation!
Please help me!
Quh

Hello,
to rotate an Object A about the Point P you have to do the following:
1. Get the Transform T which transforms P to Point (0,0,0)
2. Apply T on A
3. Rotate A (around (0,0,0))
4. Transform A with the inverse of T

  • Rotate about a specific point

    I have a script that creates geologic map symbols, positions them, and rotates them into their proper orientation.  However, I do not know how to rotate about a specific point (not the center of the group). The portion of script in question is:
    if (dlg.symbol.bedding.value) {
    var myLine = stGroup.pathItems.add();
    myLine.stroked = true;
    myLine.setEntirePath([[posx,posy],[posx+3,posy]]);
    myLine.strokeWidth = .75;
    var myLine = stGroup.pathItems.add();
    myLine.setEntirePath([[posx,posy - 6.75],[posx,posy + 6.75]]);
    myLine.stroked = true;
    myLine.strokeWidth = .75;
    stGroup.rotate(-azi);
    and I wish to rotate around the point [posx, posy].  How do I accomplish this?

    Thanks!  That worked.  For future reference, here's the modified section of script:
    if (dlg.symbol.bedding.value) {
    var myLine = stGroup.pathItems.add();
    myLine.stroked = true;
    myLine.setEntirePath([[posx,posy],[posx+3,posy]]);
    myLine.strokeWidth = .75;
    var myLine = stGroup.pathItems.add();
    myLine.setEntirePath([[posx,posy - 6.75],[posx,posy + 6.75]]);
    myLine.stroked = true;
    myLine.strokeWidth = .75;
    mapDoc.theOrigin = mapDoc.rulerOrigin;
    mapDoc.rulerOrigin = [posx,posy];
    stGroup.rotate(-azi, undefined,undefined,undefined,undefined,Transformation.DOCUMENTORIGIN);
    mapDoc.rulerOrigin = mapDoc.theOrigin;
    Another parameter in the rotate method to specify a rotation point would be nice.  Still, this works just fine, so no complaints from me.

  • Rotate an image about it centre point

    Can some one please tell me how to rotate an image about its
    centre point in flex 2.0?
    I've tried using .rotation and looked at matrix
    transformation but I can't find a way to set the roatation to the
    centre of the image :(

    You can combine <mx:Move> with <mx:Rotate>
    effects together.

    I would LOVE to see example of applying matrix transformation
    to achieve the similar effect, cannot figure out yet by myself how
    to achieve it...

  • Rotate an object from a pivot point?

    Hi, I'm trying to animate the hands of a clock and wondered if it is possible to apply rotation to an anchorpivot/ point that is not in the centre of the object. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how would I achieve this effect?
    Thanks,
    Ross

    Yes you can. Select your element. On the top menu select transform tool. You will see the origin in the middle- a little circle- select it and drag it where you want it.

  • Snap rotate an Object by 60 degrees around a selected point?

    Hello,
    I am looking for a simple and precise way to rotate and copy an object at precisely 60 degree increments around a preselected point that is NOT the middle of the object.
    To restate: I want to be able to have all my objects at precise angles and be rotating around a selected pre-chosen point.
    I have tried many different ways with no luck.
    Can anyone help a noob?

    I just checked the Download-able Help PDF (the Illustrator CS4 Online manual) and it is indeed documented under "Rotate an object by a specific angle" Unfortunately, it does not jump out off the screen.
    I understand why they don't ship manuals to reduce cost and keep a greener footprint, but I really miss them especially when you pay $500+ for a software suite. Next time I will RTFOLM! :-)
    Thanks again Scott

    Thanks in advance

    Hi RK v ,
    I really don't know what your actual requirement is , but if you want to know the objects as per the modification , then transport request will be much help to you .
    Have a look into table E070 and E071 .

  • How to always rotate objects around the same point, even using the right-click menu?

    I need some of my objects to always rotate around the same point. How can I select a point which will stay that way?
    Using the rotate tool resets after deselecting.
    Also, I'd like to rotate objects around a certain point even when using the right click > Transform > Rotate.
    Is it possible?

    Right, so this is where Illustrator falls short with respect you your need, but only in the sense that the reference point can't be made to stick. You can, however, use Smart Guides to make it so the point is easy to set at exactly the same location, (especially since your object has an anchor point there), manually before each rotation.

  • On my Mac Pro how can I get voiceover to start reading at a specific point on a document?, on my Mac Pro how can I get voiceover to start reading at a specific point on a document?

    Welcome to the Apple family!!!!
    How can I cause the VO cursor(box) show-up/start?
    Press Control-Option and F5.   The F5 key is located on the top row of keys 6th key over.  This is a toggling "Keyboard Shortcut" for turning VoiceOver on and off.
    How can I move the VO cursor to various sentences or paragraphs of an article and have it start reading ... and perhaps even continue reading on to the next paragraph(s) ... even to the end of the article?
    How to read a website with VoiceOver
    Step 1:  Go to the Website
    A quick keyboard shortcut is Command-L.  This will jump you up to the address bar.  Start typing where you want to go.  i.e "www.thewebsite.com"
    Step 2:  Working with Webpage
    VoiceOver will automatically start reading the website.  You can pause the speech by hitting the 'Control Button'.
    If VoiceOver does not being reading the webpage, then you might have to "Interact" with it.  If VoiceOver say "HTML Content" then press Control-Option-Space-Down Arrow to interact with the webpage.
    Use Control-Option-Right Arrow to move throught the website.  This will speak "EVERYTHING" on the page.
    Most website that I've found have their articles labeled as 'Heading'.  You can jump from heading to heading, by pressing Control-Option-Shift-H.
    If you'd like an itemized alphabetical listing of the site, press Control-Option-I
    Press Control-Option-Space on the link or article you want to view.
    Step 3.  Reading from Top to Bottom
    Once you found and clicked on the the article/link, use the same 'Heading' command, Control-Option-Shift-H to find the title.
    After finding the title, press Control-Option-A will start reading from the title on.
    Note:  If there are any other items (ads, pictures, etc) it will read those too.
    Tip:  You might be able to activate a feature called the 'Reader'.  The Reader isolates the article and elimanates the ads  The keyboard command is Shift-Command-R.  You can also find it in the Menu Bar (Command-Option-M) under the word 'View' then 'Show Reader'.
    I am using a MACPro with OSX, probably Mavericks 10.9 (where would I look to see if that is the correct information?)
    You can find this information under the 'Apple menu' in the Menu Bar.  To access the Menu Bar, press Control-Option-M.
    Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac.  This will open up another window.  Use Control-Option-Right Arrow until you hear 'Version'.  If you purchased it brand new from Apple within the last six month, more than likely you have Mavericks.

    The  'Commands Help' Voiceover Menu. Control-Option-H-H.  (hit H twice)  is my best friend.  It's a searchable VoiceOver Menu with most of the VoiceOver command.  Example:  You are looking for the 'Read Current Paragraph' keyboard command.   Press Control-Option-H-H and then type Paragraph.  It will then bring up all the commands with the word paragraph.  I believe there are three.
    As from the Trackpad Commands, I've copied and pasted below from Appendix A: Commands and Gestures
    VoiceOver standard gestures
    If you’re using a Multi-Touch trackpad, you can use VoiceOver gestures. VoiceOver provides a set of standard gestures for navigating and interacting with items on the screen. You can’t modify this set of gestures.
    NOTE:Gestures that don’t mention a specific number of fingers are single-finger gestures.
    General
    Enable the Trackpad Commander and VoiceOver gestures
    VO-Two-finger rotate clockwise
    Disable the Trackpad Commander and VoiceOver gestures
    VO-Two-finger rotate counterclockwise
    Turn the screen curtain on or off
    Three-finger triple-tap
    Mute or unmute VoiceOver
    Three-finger double-tap
    Navigation
    Force the VoiceOver cursor into a horizontal or vertical line when you drag a finger across the trackpad
    Hold down the Shift key and drag a finger horizontally or vertically
    Move the VoiceOver cursor to the next item
    Flick right
    Move the VoiceOver cursor to the previous item
    Flick left
    Move content or the scroll bar (depending on the Trackpad Commander setting)
    Three-finger flick in any direction
    Go to the Dock
    This gesture moves the VoiceOver cursor to the Dock wherever it’s positioned on the screen
    Two-finger double-tap near the bottom of the trackpad
    Go to the menu bar
    Two-finger double-tap near the top of the trackpad
    Open the Application Chooser
    Two-finger double-tap on the left side of the trackpad
    Open the Window Chooser
    Two-finger double-tap on the right side of the trackpad
    Jump to another area of the current application
    Press Control while touching a finger on the trackpad
    Interaction
    Speak the item in the VoiceOver cursor or, if there isn’t an item, play a sound effect to indicate a blank area
    Touch (includes tap or dragging)
    Select an item
    Double-tap anywhere on the trackpad
    You can also split-tap (touch one finger and then tap with a second finger on the trackpad)
    Start interacting with the item in the VoiceOver cursor
    Two-finger flick right
    Stop interacting with the item in the VoiceOver cursor
    Two-finger flick left
    Scroll one page up or down
    Three-finger flick up or down

    Flick up (increase) or flick down (decrease)
    Text
    Read the current page, starting at the top
    Two-finger flick up
    Read from the VoiceOver cursor to the end of the current page
    Two-finger flick down
    Pause or resume speaking
    Two-finger tap
    Describe what’s in the VoiceOver cursor
    Three-finger tap
    Change how VoiceOver reads text (by word, line, sentence, or paragraph)
    Press the Command key while touching a finger on the trackpad
    Rotor
    Change the rotor settings
    Two-finger rotate
    Move to the previous item based on the rotor setting
    Flick up
    Move to the next item based on the rotor setting
    Flick down
    To customize other gestures by assigning VoiceOver commands to them, use the Trackpad Commander.
    Assigning VoiceOver commands to gestures
    If you need a reminder about what a gesture does, press VO-K to start keyboard help, and then use the gesture on the trackpad and listen to the description.

  • How can I rotate a shape around a centre point in Illustrator?

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to make a pattern in Illustrator and I need to repeat a shape around a centre point, a bit like placing petals around the stigma of a flower. I can do it in Photoshop by moving the centre point of the bounding box to where I want to rotate the shape around, how can I do it in Illustrator?
    I also want to define this as a shape/pattern and use in Photoshop, how do I go about this?
    Many thanks,
    Foxy

    The centroid of a straight-sided polygon is located at the average of its corner points locations. For a given path (a star, for example) you can:
    1. Select the path.
    2. Copy. PasteInFront.
    3. Object>Path>Average>Both.
    For objects with curved segments, you can approximate the centroid by:
    1. Select the path.
    2. Copy. PasteInFront.
    3. Apply some command that adds a bunch of points along the curves (Object>Path>Add Anchor Points, or ZigZag with zero for Size).
    4. Object>Path>Average>Both.
    If you have alot of paths you need to do that for all at once (as when designing a hanging mobile), I have a simple Javascript for that.

  • Swinging/Rotating an object in AE 5.5

    Hi all,
    I have a question about something that I am trying to achieve in AE5,5.
    I have a clip that I would like to 'rotate' into the frame and was wondering how I could do this. If I might explain:
    If you can imagine the action of a clapperboard, you might have an idea of the effect I'm trying to attain.Essentially, I'd like the clip to start offscreen on the right hand side of the frame, At this point, the clip would be rotated 90 degree clockwise. Over the a next couple of seconds, I'd like it to 'crash' down into the frame, rotating around the lower, right corner so that it ends up filling the frame and the correct way up :-). I thought it would be fairly easy to do this with a few adjustments around the anchor points but I seem to be having no luck as whenever I move the anchor point, the entire clip seems to move rather than just adjusting the point at which I'd like it to rotate.
    What am I missing??
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Sean

    :-) Ah, I've been rumbled!! To be honest, I come from a straight video editing background and am just starting to get to grips with AE. I have just cracked open the Classroom-In-A-Book this week and (naively) thought that it might be something I could achieve simply by changing the anchor point from which to rotate the object around.  Seems like I was slightly off track - maybe I should have perservered with the book before I tried!
    Many thanks for the replies - I will certainly have a look at the blog post you mentioned and will see how I get on. From what I've seen so far, AE looks like it's going to be keep me occupied for many, many months to come. I'm looking forward to it!
    thanks again,
    Sean

  • Rotate a Object Around Center Axis

    Hey peoples, new to flash here.  I'm using CS3 with ActionScript 3.0.  What I want is simple, and I've done some searching but nothing that can get me the right results.  I'm going to post a link that does exactly what I want:
    http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/d25a3dd46f2ff49f2ec892c425cbbd1e
    This rotates the circular object around a center point in a way that you can distort the object yet is still remains turning in a circular motion.  A simple motion tween rotating the image will only work if the object is perfectly round, so distorting the object to make it more straight or curved won't work with a simple tween.  I want to do exactly what is happening here (with my own object), is there some AS3 behind the scenes here making this turn on a center point??  Thanks for the help

    Yes, but I still don't know what you mean by the parent child relationship.  Lets say I use a simple rotate line like:
    objectname.rotation = 360;
    That should spin it, but how do I spin it correctly if the object is skewed like in the bottom right picture of my example?

  • BW 3.5 - How can I select TADIR objects in a specific date range?

    Hi everybody,
    I have the necessity to obtain a list of BW objects in a specific date range. I have observed that using TADIR table it is impossible because a timestamp is not present. I have also the necessity to group the BW objects using the object type of the TADIR table (e.g. PROG for Program).
    Any idea?
    Many thanks in advance for your kind support.
    Regards,
       Giovanni

    Hi Giovanni
    I would suggest you try put table TADIR in SE11 and generating a "Where-Used List (CtrlShiftF5)" Also you should try double click on data element SOBJ_NAME in the database view of TADIR and generate a Where-Used List on that field, then you can see the relationships of the table/field.
    I hope this works for you
    Good Luck

  • Drawing object on the intersections point of 2 lines.

    hi guys, im very new in actionscrip , please give me some guidance.
    i'm doing this project , about 2 lines intersecting each other(the 2 lines are not always on the same position) . i try to find the intersections point using collision detection method but how do i place an object on the intersections point?
    if(line1.hitTestObject(line2)) //  so this is how we find the intersection point but we do not know how to draw/place an object on the  intersection point.

    then it's easier to calculate the intersection algebraically:
    function intersectionF(x1:Number,y1:Number,x2:Number,y2:Number,x3:Number,y3:Number,x4:Number,y4:Number):Array {
         if (x1==x2) {
              if (x3==x4) {
                   if (x1==x3) {
                        return ["line1"];
                   } else {
                        return [null];
              } else {
                   // line 1 vert, line 2 not
                   var m2:Number = (y3-y4)/(x3-x4);
                   var b2:Number = y3-m2*x3;
                   return [x1,m2*x1+b2];
         } else {
              // line 1 not vert
              if(x3==x4){
                   // line 2 vert
                   var m1:Number = (y1-y2)/(x1-x2);
                   var b1:Number = y1-m1*x1;
                   return [x3,m1*x3+b1];
              } else {
                   // line 2 not vert
                   m1 = (y1-y2)/(x1-x2);
                   b1 = y1-m1*x1;
                   m2 = (y3-y4)/(x3-x4);
                   b2 = y3-m2*x3;
                   var x:Number = (b2-b1)/(m1-m2);
                   return [x,m1*x+b1];

  • CS6 - Is it possible to rotate multiple objects independent of one another?

    CS6 - Is it possible to rotate multiple objects independent of one another? In other words selecting say 9 object in a grid then rotating the all 30 degrees on their own axis.

    I forgot Transform > Again won't rotate each layer about its own centre.
    It can be done, though. Record an Action of a layer being rotated and followed by Opt+] or Alt+] to target next layer. It should look like the screenshot below. Use it by first running it on the lowest target layer in the stack then running however many more times is required.

  • Rotation of objects

    I'm trying to move objects from A to B  (Round photos on a background of a map). During its way from A to B the object is shrinking. So far no problem. But my intention was to rotate the object on its "journey".
    But I didn't found a clue to work with anchor points, so the object is flying around an unknown anchor point (visible on the screenshot) instead of just turning in circles.
    I enclose two screenprints for your information.
    Am I asking too much?
    Not clear yet? I'll try to explain furher.
    Rob

    Rob,
    This is described in the help file and manual (page 258+). Select the clip in the timeline so it shows in the program monitor, select the motion effect in the effect controls panel and then adjust the anchor point by adjusting the figures in your screenshots by dragging left of right for both horizontal and vertical position. You can keyframe the anchor points so it flows nicely with the other keyframes you have set.
