Rounded toolbar Search box in WebHelp?

The powers that be want a help facelift... One request is a search box with round ends. Preferably with the Search button inside the box, much like what Apple does in Safari etc.
Any hints on what file(s) to edit and how?
A ready made piece of code with instructions on where to put it would be great, but I'll appreciate any input (including "It'll be a pain, don't even try").
*** I'm working on RoboHelp 7, on XP. The help needs to work on Windows and Mac. ***

Hi,
Yes it can be done, and yes it'll be a pain. Whether it's worth your trouble is up to you. You'll need to know at least some CSS and JavaScript. You can only do this in the output files, so you'll have to past the modified output files into your output every time you make a new version of the help.
The following article is quite helpful: http://www.picment.com/articles/css/funwithforms/
You have an extra layer of complexity because the search form is created with javascript. (In the top bar as well as in the sidebar.) The form in the sidebar is build in whfform.htm. Target the input box with 'input' or 'input.inputfield'. The button is an image with a hyperlink. The standard id of the image is 'go'.
The form in the top bar is build in whskin_tbars.htm and (mostly) whtbar.js.
Hope this gets you started. The easiest is just to make all your clients use Safari

  • Why does google (and only google) no longer work in toolbar search box?

The search box on the Firefox toolbar - not the google toolbar- no longer works if google is selected as search engine, gives a not found error to any search. Other search engines work, but google is broken. Google works fine anywhere else, just not from stock toolbar search box. Windows XP, Firefox 16.0.1.

Thanks for the help, but that didn't work. "keyword.URL" was not bold and it wouldn't allow me to select reset. what next?

  • How to Shift ToolBar(Search Box) From Left To Right

    Hi All,
I am trying to shift toolbar of Portal i.e Search Box from left to right. But it is not happening. How I do this?I do not want to upload PAR File also.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Abhiram

    Hi,
    Follow this,
Import the PAR file into NWDS, the PAR you have downloaded is correct one, Now in the JSP folder, find ToolAreaView.JSP file, now find following lines of code in that JSP file
    <DIV id="GroupElements" class="prtlToolAreaTaskCompAlign">
                        <TABLE border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" >
                             <TR>
After this TR , add following code :
    <td width="750">& nbsp;</td>
Thats it. With this your search field will be moved to right totally.

  • Can i insert 'mozilla firefox start page' onto my toolbar instead of the standard google on the search box

I'm having problems like a lot of others with Google as it has removed it's 'UK only' button from it's home/search screen. I prefer the Google Mozilla Firefox Start Page as it gives me the options I need. On the Firefox toolbar search box, which drops down to give search engine options, can I link the Mozilla Firefox Start Page to this box? Thankyou.

  • With firefox 4, google toobar seach box suggestions no longer appear in the search box itself

    After installing Firefox 4:
When I start typing in the Google toolbar search box an item, like NYT and the search suggestions appear -- like NY Times -- I used to be able to click on "NY Times" and this would appear filled out in the Google search box. This no longer happens. Instead, what I have typed in is the only thing showing: NYT.

I think this may not be a browser problem but rather a Google problem.
I am getting the same problem with the Google Chrome browser.

  • Why can't I type in any search boxes in firefox 3.6.12 on Windows 7 HP.

For the last several days, I cannot type a search term into the Google toolbar Search box, the Firefox search box, the Yahoo tool bar search box, or the address bar. When I click search, then a new page opens in a new tab in Google (this is my default search provider. I do NOT have this problem with the search boxes in IE 8. I am using a new Toshiba Satellite L675 with 4 GB RAM and an AMD Phenom dual core processor. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium for 64 bit computers. I have tried changing the option settings in Firefox and toolbar options. I am not sure what to do next because I do not know precisely what is causing the problem. My anti-virus is MSE and shows no viruses; Zone Alarm free Firewall shows no breaches; Antimalware Bytes Antimalware shows no problems, and neither does Super Anti-Spyware or Spybot. In short, my computer is clean. Please help! Also, for quite a while now, when I type a long entry in Firefox, it slows down and crashes due to a script error, which is not always displayed with an option to stop running the script. It is not the same script every time, and shutting down and restarting Firefox usually solves the problem. This problem also occurred in the last several versions of Firefox.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
This issue can be caused by the Personas 1.6.0 extension. If you have it then update to Personas 1.6.1

  • I can't get rid of iMesh search box - got rid of toolbar but not search box - it is not included in add-ons

I downloaded iMesh thinking it was just a normal music-streaming site. However, it downloads a toolbar and search box. I seemed to have deleted the toolbar with no problem. However, the search box is still there, to the right of the navigation box, and if I go to Tools - manage Add-ons, it is not listed there at all. Is there a way to remove the search box without uninstalling the program or is it better to uninstall it? My virus/anti-malware programs do not report any risks associated with the program and it is handy to find audio streams on the Internet, so I would keep it if it is not harmful. The search box is not causing any problems, I'm just concerned because it was put there without my agreement and does not seem to be removable from the Tools menu. I use Google or Norton Safesearch and would not use iMesh for general searches.

Hi Gnib, First go to start>control panel>add/remove Programs. In add/remove
programs there will be "Media Bar" once you click on it to remove it,then it says
remove "media bar 2.0". Get rid of that also. Now go into your "add-ons
and extensions". There will be something about the imesh toolbar. Uninstall
that. Go into start>programs. If imesh is there, delete that too.
If this doesn't work for you. Tell me what you first did to remove imesh.

  • Opening up a new tab in Firefox causes it to open with a Bing search box but I don't have Bing as a toolbar, extension, plug-in or default search engine.

I am using Firefox 6.0 with Win 7.After upgrading from Vista to W7 and updating my various programs and drivers I found Bing set as my homepage and default search engine. I changed them both and they are okay now, but new tabs open with a Bing search box. I don't have a Bing toolbar, plug-in or extension, and Bing is no longer my default search engine or homepage. I do have the MS Office Live plug-in. I would like to have my new tabs open up blank.

  • WebHelp Search Doesn't Display Search Box on Chrome or IE With Chrome Frame

I have RH10 (recently upgraded from RH9) and WebHelp projects are having issues displaying the Search box within the Search tab on Chrome as well as IE with Chrome Frame installed. Instead of getting a search box, I get what almost looks like an index of numbers with associated hyperlinks. The search box appears and behaves fine on other browsers such as Firefox, Safari and IE without Chrome Frame. I assume this is JavaScript related since all of my tests point in this direction, but no idea how to get it to behave. Attached is a screen shot of how it appears...Any suggestions?!?

Any other suggestions? Not really but Item 10 in http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh10/using_rh10.htm covered how to fix another IE Frame issue. Maybe that would help put your developers on the track for a fix.

  • Adding tooltip to WebHelp Search box

I'd like to provide a tooltip or inductive text for the Search text box in WebHelp. Specifically, I want to tell users to enclose multiple words in quotation marks, since this format returns the most relevant results. Is there a way to add a tooltip to the Search box or even just additional text to the line that starts: "Type in the word(s) to search for:"?
We're using RoboHelp HTML 9. It would be great to know how to do this programatically, but, if necessary, I don't mind editing output files
    Thanks!
    Diana

    Something like this?
File > Project Settings > General Tab > Advanced > LNG File Tab
There you can change FtsInputPrompt to your own string.

  • What happened to the search box in toolbar in PDF Reader X

    Hi,
Can anyone help on how to get the search box to show in the toolbar as had in previous versions of reader? There dosn't seem to be option to activate it in preferances. Seems idiotic to remove it, used it lot ot search documents, etc.
If it's been removed does anyone have link for verison 9.4?
Thanks in advace for any help

The workaround described here only enables the search button.
As I understand, there is no way to still have the search box (or search field) in the toolbar.
As others wrote, at least for me it is a fundamental feature to be able to search for something with Acrobat (Reader).
Being able just to write the word to search, was so easy.
So, WHY, did you remove this feature?
For this reason, I switched back to Version 9 (wich is not easy if
you have Acrobat Std X installed; you first have to uninstall Acrobat Std X, install Reader 9,
and then reinstall Acrobat Std X again).
Sorry Adobe, but this is an IMPORTANT step backwards, which is absolutely not acceptable.
Please, never remove a core feature (I really couldn't believe it, at first, and thought I am too stupid to find the right way to enable it).

  • After upgrading to FF 20.0 (Ubuntu Linux), some of the icons to the right of the Search Box on the Navigation toolbar disappeared - Springpad, Evernote, etc.

After upgrading to FF 20.0 some of the icons (not Favicons) to the right of the Search Box on the Navigation toolbar keep disappearing. The icons are Springpad Clipper extension, Evernote, Ghostery, Greasemonkey, Pocket. Each time I start FF some (or all) of them are missing. I tried a "Reset Firefox". The first time after the reset, after syncing, all the icons appeared. The second time (now) the Springpad icon has disappeared.

  • How do I remove the updated Search box in the toolbar in Firefox 20.0.1?

After booting up this morning Firefox version 20.0.1 was now upgraded onto my Windows 7 desktop. The new "Updated Search" box on the toolbar next to the tabs is an annoyance and redundant. How do I remove this Search box?

    What exactly solved this?

  • Can't get the Google search box in toolbar

I've been working on getting my new iMac 27" with Mountain Lion functional, and now I've run into a problem I don't seem to find others are having -- I can't get the Google search box into the toolbar. It just won't go there. I've dragged the thing from the View>Customize Toolbar, and I've also tried dragging the whole toolbar, and nothing sticks. I get a little green plus symbol, as if it's adding it to the toolbar, release, and then...nothing. As much as I like Duck Duck Go, there are still things I need the old Goog for, and I'm bewildered by why this won't stick. There don't seem to be any actual settings for it either, just the drag and drop.
This whole setup has been beyond frustrating. I wish I'd never upgraded.

    Safari 6
Apple combined Google search bar with URL address bar in Safari 6.
Apple calls it Smart Search Field.
There is no more a separate search field. You enter the Google search in the unified address bar.
    Best.

  • When using Google Toolbar, and I begin entering a search term, several complete choices appear, but when I click on one of them, autocomplete does not fill in the search box.

Why does the complete suggested search term not appear in the search box when I click on it?
