Routers connected via serial subinterfaces(for non VPN internet service in a mpls network)

I have conected two cisco 7200 routes via one serial interface.
I am going to create two subinterfaces in each of them assign them IP address and connect them via (two BGP neighborship)
the fact is that they cannot even ping eachother though they are directly connected .
1. interfaces are no shut
2.L2 protocol is HDLS on both sides
3.the IPs are in the same subnets .
the question is how to connect two routers with serial sub-interfaces.?
this is my config on both routers , only the IPs are different:
int ser 1/0
no shut
encapsulation hdlc
clock rate 64000
int ser 1/0.1
subif)#ip add a.b.c.d x.x.x.x

Hello Gabriel,
Instead of using the HDLC, use frame-relay encap. Make one side as DCE. Use same DLCI on both sides.
R4#sh run int se2/0

Current configuration : 96 bytes
interface Serial2/0
no ip address
encapsulation frame-relay

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 1.1.1.2, timeout is 2 seconds:
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 20/22/32 ms
R4#sh run | i swit

  • Can multiple Airport Expresses be connected via ethernet to an Airport Extreme to extend a single WiFi Network?

I am a big fan of both the Airport Extreme and Airport Express.  In my work environment, I need to create a good quality single wireless network around 2 large aircraft hangars and some offices at the perimeters.  We have a good quality wired Cat5e ethernet network extended between the buildings and offices now.  Is this possible and does it seem like a good practical solution?  I think that 4 or 5 Airport expresses would easily provide good wireless coverage in the needed areas.

Can multiple AirPort Expresses be connected via ethernet to an AirPort Extreme to extend a single WiFi Network?
Yes, this will work just fine as long as any individual Ethernet cable run will not exceed much over 330 feet or about 100 meters.

  • Can no longer connect via serial port

    Hi all,
I am an administrator for forty-eight Solaris servers scattered around the world, I have remote console connectivty via Cisco 2821 terminal servers. Recently all the devices were moved to new terminal servers but I can no longer get remote console connectivity to fourteen of them. Most of the servers just give a blank line. I have had the port and cable changed on two of them with no joy. One of the servers was local so I risked a reboot (didn't fancy rebooting one of the distant ones as hands-and-eyes support staff are difficult to get hold of and these are production boxes.). While connected via IP I attempted a reboot, after 20minutes of waiting I decided I'd have to connect directly with my laptop, when I connected the machine was waiting for an ilom login. After logging in and completing the boot the server was working fine and I could connect via the terminal server.
The boxes are Sun 5220's and I am running Solaris 10.
Any help would be greatfully received as I really don't fancy trying to reboot the other thirteen boxes with nobody onsite...
    Cheers,
    Mark T.

    Answered my own question:
opened another terminal window and used the command killall ssh to abort the previous session.
Still don't know why it won't login to my server.

Is there somebody who can help me with this problem please ?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
I'm not familiar with Serial Number Management but I guess you can apply it only to materials with stock.

  • Connecting via ethernet ports on an AEBS that is extending a wifi network

I tried to get this out on the subject heading (trust me guys I searched the forums first but I couldn't quite find this issue)...
I have a Airport Express connected via ethernet to a network. I am trying to use an AEBS to capture that connection and then share it via ethernet ports (LAN?) to a PC that has no wifi card.
I setup the AEBS to extend the existing airport express wifi and that worked fine and I can connect to it fine via wifi on my laptop. But the pc that is plugged into the AEBS via ethernet is not able to connect.
    Thoughts?

In order to enable the Ethernet ports on the 4G Extreme for the Mac Pro, both AirPorts need to be configured for an extended network. Please read through the steps provided in the link to see if you may have missed any steps.

  • I paid for the blackberry internet service, but I still don't have it!

I've had a Blackberry Curve 8520 for almost a year now, I'm on pay as you go with Vodafone. My internet service recently ran out so I topped up £10 yesterday and paid my Blackberry internet service (The £5.30 for 30 days) with my calling credit. It has always taken an average 10 minutes to start working again but it has now almost been 24 hours since I topped up and it is still not working. Blackberry App World is working, and one app that I downloaded requires internet and that's working fine. However, Faceboook, Browser, BBM, and Email are all not connecting. When I try and connect to the browser it comes up: "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider" - and yes, I have rebooted my blackberry by taking out the battery, about twenty times now and nothing has changed. I woke up this morning and blackberry app world was the only thing working. I have also tried "Registering Now" on the Host Routing Table, but nothing happens. What do I do?!

  • Eurotherm 2704 connection via serial port with ModBus

    Hello guys,
first some words about my problem:
I have to develop a software which allows reading and writing the
temperature (we have 3 Eurotherm 2704) (I think some of you know this problem yet ).
I wrote already the program and it works, but I used "iTools OPC
Server" for my program and it was the demo version (works only 30 minutes).
The group doesn't want to pay for the iTools, I should solve this problem without
    iTools .
In this forum I found out, that I can use the ModBus for it:
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&thread.id=468139&view=by_date_ascending&page=2
I know, there are some similar threads here, but I am new with LabView
    and need some help.
I downloaded one example “my modbus serial query.vi “
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&thread.id=135288&view=by_date_ascending&page=2
but it does not work (I am not really sure, what I have to change in the
    file)
With OPC Server I found out:
    COM5
    Baud Rate 9600
    Parity: None
    Flow Control: None
Data Bits: 8(RTU) (I can choose RTU, but where can I change to 8 bit ?! )
And by other properties, I have no idea what I have to change there
    For Example
Modbus Data Unit In (all read and write mode ? Which one do I need to read the temperature and to set the set temperature?)
    Modbus Command ?!!!
    No idea.
I have folowing adresses (comms address 0x00030001, canonical address: 1)
Which one do I need ?!
I think if I get the signal from one temperature controller, I can do it for
other, but my problem is now THIS one.
Can you help me whit it ?
Should I use a other example ?! Maybe do you know better one?
    Thank you, very much.
    Alexander

    Hello Putnam and Christian,
I think the problem because you can not understand my question is my English, sorry
    I'll try it again:
    @Christian:
Thank you for the links, but I think all threads in NI Forum with topic "Help, Eurotherm 2704 ?" were written by me
    You understood my problem correctly.
We have 3 temperature controllers and I have to develop a LabView program, which allows reading the temperature from the controllers. It should be possible to write the set temperature from LabView to temperature controller as well.
The controllers are connected already (I think with RS485) and I can read/set the data from/to controllers (with “iTools OPC Server”), but I have to change my program so, that it works without “OPC Server”
    @Putnam:
In the meantime I found out, why I got an error with  “my modbus serial query.vi” (the solution was very simple, I had to close the OPC-Server ).
It runs now and I try to understand now how the VI exactly works.
Maybe you can help me with it?
I try to explain what I understood, if something is wrong, tell my please:
The “my modbus serial query.vi” allows to read the multiple values (maximum 125 register) (default block read size is 125) from controller (I can see the data in the register array). In each register I have values for different variables. The Modbus address of Loop1 PV (I need this value) is known ( 00001, Eurotherm manual).
Does it mean that the first element in the register-array is the value for the temperature from Loop 1 ?! (multiplicated by a factor, if it is correct, how can I find out this factor? It is linear?)
And if I need the value of Loop2 (the address is 01025), I have to set the start address for example to 1000 and in this case the 25-th element in register-array is the value for PV Loop 2 ?!
I got this idea, after I left the laboratory and could not try it out. I can do it first at Monday, but I would know if it is correct what I think.
If it is correct, I think I will able to change  “my modbus serial query.vi” on my own, that it works in my program.
Or there is a better example/solution than “my modbus serial query.vi” ?!
The other problem would be writing of temperature, but I will ask about it later . First temperature READING problem!!
    Thank you!
    Alexander.

    Hi,
I am working with Sun Solaris 9 sparc and in my application,I have to communicate with the serial port.
For every connection we made, in Solaris it creates a process. So Can anyone tell me the name of the process when we connect serial cable??
like USB connection /dev/usb0 or /dev/hiddev0 process is created..
    Thanks in Adavnce ...

For every connection we made, in Solaris it creates a process. Are you talking about 'telnet' or 'ssh'? Those work differently from serial connections.
So Can anyone tell me the name of the process when we connect serial cable??You might have a login listener if you configure it, otherwise, nothing is running.
You need to provide more details about how you intend to use the serial cable. I can't tell from your post.

  • Dot1q between two routers connected via 2950

    Hi,
    I have two 7200's connected to a 2950 (FE 22 + FE 24 - Both configured as trunks).
On the 7200's, I have the following:
    7200-A
    interface FastEthernet0/0.23
    encapsulation dot1Q 23
    ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.252
    no snmp trap link-status
    7200-B
    interface FastEthernet0/0.23
    encapsulation dot1Q 23
    ip address 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.252
    no snmp trap link-status
    2950:
    interface FastEthernet0/22
    switchport mode trunk
    no ip address
    duplex full
    speed 100
    interface FastEthernet0/24
    switchport mode trunk
    no ip address
    duplex full
    speed 100
But I cannot ping between the two routers?

7200-A has dot1q ints for servers connected to the 2950 (Access Ports)....these are all currently successfully trunked down FE24
I want to connect 7200-B to 7200-A, and have dot1q Ints on both routers(As /30's) that can communicate (They will be used on 7200-B as Internet gateways for VRF's (With IP Nat enabled)....I was hoping that by having 7200-B connected to 2950 FE22, and configuring that port as a trunk also, that the dot1q ints on both routers could talk.
vlan 23 does exist on 2950, and is being trunked on both FE 22 + FE 24
I dont have any spare FE ports on 7200-A, hence the reason for me connecting 7200-B to the 2950.

  • ConnectionNotFoundException when connecting via serial port

    Hi all
I have got a HttpConnection that looks like this
    HttpConnection connection = (HttpConnection)Connector.open( "http://localhost:80/test/read.txt" );
    InputStream inputstream = connection.openInputStream();
...The above codes work fine on the emulator, but when I wish to connect to the server via the device from the usb cable, it throws me an javax.microedition.io.ConnectionNotFoundException
I'm working on a SE W880i and is running the midlet from the Device Explorer...

    Hi,
    thanks for the response.
no, I can't login to the switch(es) at all. There seems to be no response from hyperterminal at all. (Then I noticed that the LEDs had gone "solid" and that everyone started to complain they had lost network connection!)
Even when I powered off and powered on the switch with the console port still connected, nothing appeared on the hyperterminal screen.
However, as mentioned, I'm able to connect to one of our spare switches using the same settings, same laptop, and same console cable - so I guess that would rule these things out as being the cause?
Its definitely a strange one, especially as it seems to be affecting all 3 of the live switches!

  • Using Serial Port for Non-Serial Data Acquisiton

I searched the forums and couldn't find anything related to this topic.
I saw that it was possible to use the parallel port for simple digital I/O and I was hoping the serial port can be configured the same. It seems all the VISA VI's only want to use the serial port to recieve ASCII chars at a given baud rate, but is it possible to simply poll the status of the serial line at my own speed to see if it is high or low, kind of like a single pin DAQ?
It seems it would be possible as long as the serial data is read and controlled by labview and not by Windows. Let me know if you have any ideas how to approach this problem, or any feedback as to why it is not possible.
    Thanks everyone!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Select Property>Serial Settings>Modem Line Settings. For example, the CTS State is an input to the pc.
Using these lines is a very poor replacement for a scope or DAQ board. The only things you can get back is Asserted, Unasserted, or Unknown. The range of acceptable signals is quite large. Anything between +3 and -3 is an unknown state. Your other signals are +/3 to 15 volts. what kind of signals do you actually want to capture?
edit: There is no such thing as VISA Status so I have no idea what you are actually using.

  • Connection to serial port via USB adapter- error -2147221503

I am trying to drive a stepper motor provided with possible Labview or VB programs. This motor is supposed to be connected via serial port, but the computer has not some, so I bought an USB adpater to connect my motor via USB. I am using the labview programs provided (Labview 8.0). The program cannot connect to the port and returns error -2147221503. Where may I find some help with that ?
    Thanks
    Attachments:
    error labview.JPG ‏234 KB

I see references to 'Luminos'. Is this the provider of the stepper motor and LabVIEW code? If so, your first step should be to contact them. The whole VI is nothing but ActiveX properties and methods and the vendor would be the only one who knows what is going on.

  • Airport Extreme connected via wifi -- will remote MobileMe still work?

I have two Macs: a desktop and a laptop. I have the latest software and I have MobileMe. My internet is physically connected to the desktop computer. The laptop is connected via wifi using a non-Apple router.
According to Apple's website concerning the AirPort Extreme, "Say you’re traveling and you need a file on the hard drive connected to your AirPort Extreme back at home. If you’re a MobileMe member using Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard, no problem. You can access all the files on your shared drive over the Internet."
My question is this: if I attach an Airport Extreme to the laptop -- which is connected via wifi to the network -- will I still be able to access the attached hard drive via MobileMe while traveling, or does this work only if the Airport Extreme is directly wired to the internet?
    Thanks.

    Thanks, very helpful.
Say it loud, this is one of the best things of Airport, you control the volume even with the optical output:
¿However, why I can´t do the same with the optical output of my 2008 Mac Mini?
Each one (Mac mini 2008  and Airport Express 2008) have optical link to both receivers (Denon AVR3805 and Denon AVR1905).
But I must control the volume of the mac mini with the remote of the AVR3805.
It seems Airplay makes some magic, but straight driver of OSX over audio device don´t.
What a PIA (Pain in the ***). They can put Gigabits of audio information in the optical link but they can´t add a layer adding a header of some bytes to the packets, adressed to a smart DAC than can control the analog output with two bytes of information.
IEEE, ¿Will you make a layer specification for smart DACs? Life and devices use would be much simpler.
Apple in the meantime makes the magic he is able with Airplay.
    Some day.

    Hi
I have placed an order for Time Capsule but I have been wandering....
Is it possible to connect to the Time Capsule via Ethernet for the Internet Connection, whilst the back up takes place over wireless? Or does it mean if I connect via Ethernet, the back up and Internet connection will be via Ethernet? What I am concerned with it Lag on the network (same applies too for Wireless) and would like wireless back up whilst connecting via Ethernet to the Net.
