RRI - Sending Dynamically calculated Variable Values to Receiving Report

Hello,
1st report requires that user enters 2 dates. User exit is calculating the "number of months" between these 2 dates and the value is being stored in a variable.
This calculated value "no of months" needs to be sent to the receiver report. Apparently it is not getting passed automatically.
Any ideas.?

Hi Srikanth Kamana,
Reimplement the customer exit "number of months" in the second query. Get the from and to dates from the 1st query.

I am trying to display the variable values in Web Report.
I put one text Item in Template and checked the Variable Display and entered the variable name in List.
still I cannot see the variable values in the report.

as the other poster mentioned the variable name has to be in upper case.
if only_values = 'X' you will just get the value other wise
you will get something like below.

Issue with variable values while adding report to Bookmarks/Favorites

Hello All,
I am able to save the reports from my portal as bookmarks with the appropiate navigation state & variable values for reports which do not have a mandatory value variable with no default value. For all other queries like queries with no mandatory variables or queries containing mandatory variables with default values, this is working fine. Any inputs is appreciated. We are in BI7.0 with SP12.

How to pass Presentation Variable Value from Main Report to Detail Report

Hello,
I've 2 reports that is attached to each other. In my main report i've several report prompts and i am using i"s prompted" on my detail report to attach them.
But 2 of my report prompts are presentation variables(Names : FIRST, SECOND). Both are in date format. I've a filter in my main report like;
"ASSIGNMENTS_F"."EFFECTIVE_START_DATE" BETWEEN @{FIRST} AND {SECOND}
It works fine when i run the main report. But when i click on the numbers, i see that i can not filter my detail report with the chosen values for 2 presentation variables. It just shows all the dates.
I've tried adding both presentation variables in both reports as columns and adding 'is prompted' filter to them. But did not work either.
I just cant pass the written values for presentation variable prompts to detail report..

What you can try is refer the filte condition in the main report to the detailed report with the option--> Filter based on another request.
Or you try creating another intermediate report which will refer the main report filters and pass the filters to the detailed report.

Importing a text file with variable values into web reporting

Hello,
I'm looking for a possibility to import values from a text file into a variable selection in Web reporting.
With BEx reporting in Excel this is possible, by clicking on the multiple selection button in the variable popup screen, and subsequently selecting the "Import from Text file" button.
However, this function seems not to be available for web-reporting...
It would be great if someone could help me out with this!

In our example we used a file with numbers for materials. This file is stored somewhere in a directory, to which SAP BI must have authorization to read.
The file looks something like this:

Presentation Variable value to Drill report OBIEE 11g

Hi ,
We have a requirement to use Parent report prompt value in the drill report. So we have used presentation variable to pass the value.
Issue is when we go to drill report its not showing actual presentation variable value, its giving some other value( eg: we have two values to be passed to presentation variable 'Yes' and 'No' , even though we have selected 'Yes' in the prompt the drill report is showing results for 'No' but when we refresh the drill report its showing exactly as prompt selection.)
And we are using Advanced Sql filter to filter the records .
In 10g it has worked fine but in 11g we are having the issue.

Dynamic calculation of values at query runtime

I have situation in which I have calculate the value for characteristic at query runtime.
Query is based on Infoset SEMPLDATA. In Infoset I have fields u201CEmployee IDu201D, u201CBirth dateu201D, u201CAgeu201D dedicated as virtual variable, u201CNumber of Employeesu201D.
Then I execute query I enter a value for variable u201CDateu201D. After that query should calculate age for employee: for example ( variable u201CDateu201D u2013 u201CBirth dateu201D )/365. And query result is listed like this: u201CAgeu201D, u201CNumber of Employeesu201D.u201D Ageu201D is dynamic it depends on variable u201CDateu201D.
Iu2019m doubting will virtual characteristic help me. Could you give your suggestions?

Hey. You can do this with a virtual characteristic. I'm not fond of them because of performance, but it should work. I am also assuming you have date of birth as an available field to do the calculation.
So, you could implement code in the variable user exit. After "Date" has been entered and the exit code is invoked you can pass that date to memory. Something like export "date" to memory ID xxxxx. I would create the memory ID object based on user ID running the query and date, or something like that. Then when you are processing in the virtual characteristic user exit, just do an import from memory, referencing the same memory ID as when you exported. Then you should be able to just do the date of birth - "date."
I have done this in the past to be able to retain user selection information for use in the virtual object calculations.
Just thought I would add a bit more here. You could also use formula variables based on your "Date" variable and "Date of birth" and do the calculation in a formula. Not completely sure about your situation, but that's another idea.

Regrading restricting the variable values in the report

i have a requirement that i have to restrict the values of 2nd level vendors in variable selection screen based on the 1st level vendor selected i mean we are using the variable for 1st level vendor as mandatory so when user enters the value for 1st level vendor linke xxxx and when he goes to the next variable 2nd level vendor he must have the options related to the 1st levle vendor only i mean he does not see all the 2nd level vendors but he must see the 2nd level vendors related to first level vendor only
ex for 1st level vendor xxx the 2nd level vendor is yyy and zzz
for 1st level vendor aaa the 2nd level vendor is bbb and ccc
now when he select the option first level vendor as xxx it is showing the all 2nd level vendors in the slection screen but client wants that when he select the 1st level vendor he must see the 2nd level vendor list related to particular 1st level vendor only

Does you mean if xxxx is the value for 1st vendor then in 2nd level vendor variable shd be other than xxxx.....
is my interpretation is right.then you can write the code in step 3 so that 1st vendor value and 2nd vendor is different ....let us know

Presentation Variable Value not passing when used in Column Formula.

Hello Gurus:
Please help me with my requirement.
We are trying to show a data backout in report, for example.
For a Product Group Code of 2435 which belongs to Report Line C059 has a Sales Amount of $4,266.90 and in report we want the same Sales Amount of $4,266.90 to be shown as -$4,266.90 (Negative) under a Report Line C080.
So in a report there should be same Sales Dollars as Positive for C059 (from Source) and Negative Sales Amount for C080 (Condition to be applied in Report).
Solution I Tried
I tried to create a Presentation Variable (SQL- Which would fetch me Sales Dollars for Product Group Code 2453) which returns with $4266.90 and then applied it in Answers in Logic (Case when Report Line = C080 then @{Presentation Variable}*-1 Else Sales Dollars END).
Issue I am facing:
Presentation Variable is coming as 0 and if i give any Format (Default Value) it shows the same default value in report. I checked the SQL i used and even when I Preview the Variable its showing me $4,266.90, but not in report.
Please let me know a way to get this Presentation Variable value into my reports.
Also please let me know if i can achieve this requirement in any other way.

Thanks for your reply Paul. But there is no Invoiced Amount for Report Line - 'C080' from source. Invoiced amount of C059 should show as -ve Invoiced amount for CO80.
In a report C059 should show +ve Sales Dollars and C080 should show same amount as -Ve Sales Dollars.

Report Groups - Selection screen on receiver report

Hi there,
When dealing with sender / receiver reports, do you know if it's possible to force a selection screen prompt when calling a receiver report during execution?
A report was written in the Report Painter, and belongs to a report group called 1OAB. This report group has three receiver reports defined, so when users double click on a value, it will forward navigate to another report (receiver report, selected after double click) using the same selection criteria of the current report (sender).
My problem, is that the selection criteria that is passed by the sender isn't sufficient for the receiver report, and the report ends up running with a much larger selection than required.
My question, is whether or not we can either:
a) Interrupt during the report call and prompt with the report selection screen for the receiver report. This would allow the user to input any missing selections.
b) Add in any missing selections via a user exit. I have not had much luck in finding such an exit. The closest I got was form 'USEREXIT1' from include LRSTIF90. This exit appears to be called before and after the report call. I'm not sure if it's a true exit though, as it's just a piece of code in an include and is referred to as an exit? To implement would I just register the object and add in my code?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

FYI the only solution I see is to put in a modification to prompt a selection screen during execution. Modification would go in include 'LRSTIF02' as follows:

* leave to transaction ld_tcode.

If anybody has a better idea on how to accomplish this I'd love to hear it!

If I added the same actionscript to frame 3 which has a dynamic textbox with a variable timer attached wouldn't it just put the timer back to 0? What I want is the last known value that was given when it was in frame 2.
I am thinking of temple run here, I am trying to caculate the total distance(set in the timer variable) from the previous try.

User exit variable do not receive values in a view.

I have query with customer exit variable
variable entry is optional
Ready for input
can be change in query navigation
in the cmod I have case on i_vnam with the variable name.
When I run the query the i_vnam receive the name of the variable and act as expected.
When I run a view on this query the i_vnam do not receive nothing and because of this, the variable do not receive any value.
Do any one know why and how to fix this problem?
