RSA VPN on 10.4.10

I'm trying to use the built in VPN software with the mac. My company uses RSA Secur-ID as authentication.
I'm able to log in just fine, can connect to our exchange servers, but I'm not able to browse the web. We have no restrictions in place, ( I was on the phone with the head of security for an hour ). Support said they can see my traffic leaving and coming back, but using Firefox I can only get google and our company web page to resolve.
Ideas?
Do you need more info?
I'm stumped as to why other web pages won't load, firefox just sits there and spins forever.
Safari does the same thing.

  • Native iOS L2TP VPN not working on Lion Server

    Hi Folks,
    I have a very strange issue concerning making VPN work on two iOS devices I have. I have recently setup Lion Server on a MacMini here in the office with L2TP VPN using a shared secrert phrase and a password authentication.
    I have Lion running on an a MacBook Air (which I setup VPN using the provisioning profile "VPN.mobileprovision") and Snow Leopard running on an iMac. (VPN was set up manually). Both systems have been tested to work both inside and outsideof my internal network as I have tested with an air card.
    I also have an iPhone running 4.3.4/4.3.5 that I setup by emailing the provisioning profile and and iPad 1 running iOS 5 beta 4 setup with the vpn provisioning profile. Neither the iPad nor iPhone seem to work at all either internally nor externally. In fact I never see any activity in the vpnd.log when I attempt to connect to with these devices. All I get is the standard "The L2TP-VPN server did not respond. Try reconnecting. ..."
    Based on my success with the OSX Clients both inside and outside my local network I feel it is safe to say that I do not think the issue resides on the Lion Server nor the network/firewall configuration. I am running a Time Capsule with FW 7.5.2/7.4.2. There was no change in behavior with either version of the Time capsule firmware for the clients whether they were OSX or iOS. I must be clearly missing something here and I don't know what. Any help any of you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Issue is resolved. I used the initial random generated shared secret that was generated by Lion Server. The shared secret has special characters. IOS did not like the special characters. See iPhone Console Log below:

    That is why I never saw any attempt to connect. The actual process would bomb out before attempting to make a connection to the server.
    The shared secret key was:

    Looks like it was the " or the ? symbols.
    Once I changed the shared secret key the issue went away and the iPhone and iPad could connect to vpn without issue.

  • Snow Leopard Server VPN and Android Client

    Hi
    I have a VPN which works absolutely fine with various (Apple) products. However, I have never managerd to get an Android device to connect to the VPN. Would anyone have any clue as to how to work around this?
    FWIW, the VPN is set up to use L2TP over IPSec with a shared secret. The gateway firewall is set up to allow pass through for VPN protocols and the appropriate ports have been mapped to the server. The system works fine for Macbooks of various flavours, iPod, iPad and I believe it's been tested with a Windows box (may have turned on PPTP for that. Can't remember). All this points to a flaw in the Android VPN client - which seems to be something of a known issue but beyond my understanding.
    With the above in mind, anyone got a sensible work around (other than the daft suggestion that someone will inevitably make wrt buying an iPhone)?

    Fat Freddie, we're thrilled you got it working on your Nexus 7, would you care to share HOW you got it up and working? What were the server settings.  I'm trying to get it setup on a Nexus 4 running 4.2.1, and it is getting the same LCP timeout in the logs that the poster "l4r5"  was reporting.
    Did you get this and solve it?

  • Mountain Lion VPN server "IPCP maximum config-requests exceeded" error

    I have OS-X Server running on Mountain Lion 10.8.4  I had to reinstall the system due to a hard drive failure and ever since reinstalling OS-X server the VPN service has been driving me mad. Every so often without any obviosu reason the service starts failing and comes up with a "IPCP: Maximum Config-Requests exceeded" error. On the client side it looks like Connecting >> Authenticating >> "You have ben disconnected" message. It seems like this happens every time you restart the machine (so after a fresh restart I can NEVER log in at all and get this error) and switching the VPN service off and back on again in Server app gets rid of the problem every time. Then the problem comes back sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes ater a few hours or days even. I have the exact same settings as I did before where it ran without fault for months and would be back up and running after power failures and automatic restarts. I have not found one single thread anywhere where someone could explain what this is and the best solution I have seen so far was to write a script to turn the VPN server off and back on all the time. Could someone PLEASE help me here. Ay help at geting rid of this problem would b very much appreciated!

  • VPN problems with SLS 10.6.2 using L2TP

    Hi folks,
    I see I'm not the only one having problems with getting VPN to work.
    Well, I've gotten PPTP to work just fine but I do need to get L2TP to work as well.
    The strange thing is that when I try using L2TP the log is completely silent.
    I'm running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.2 with the built-in firewall.
    I've tried turning of the firewall but still no log-entries...
    I've double checked that all the ports are open, I've tried changing the VPN IP series.
    I've tried to enable both DHCP and NAT... still nothing seems to do the trick.
    Any ideas?

  • VPN Login first with RSA and then AD?

    I've run in to a situation I hadn't considered when we stood up our RSA 2-factor authentication for VPN. We use AnyConnect clients to hit our Cisco VPN concentrators which then passes off authentication responsibilities to ISE and ISE knows which Identity Store to use based on where the authentication request is coming from and what group(s) a person belongs to.   
    We now have a service provider that that will reach right in to a product they manage for us when we call and say there is a problem. However, the tech/engineer assigned to the issue could be one of many from their pool of available resources. The service provider only wants 1 token which will be "locked up" and the PIN "locked up" separately as well so when we report a problem they can connect and resolve it.
    I won't issue a single token to them because they are associated with AD accounts but I could create a generic account local to RSA they could authenticate against if they could then auth with their AD creds before connecting.
    So my question is has anyone done this? Is it possible to have AnyConnect ask for SecurID authentication and then come back with a prompt for AD authentication?

    should be no problem, using double authentication:
    aaa-server myLDAP protocol ldap
    aaa-server myRSA protocol sdi
    tunnel-group foo general-attributes
    authentication-server-group myRSA
    secondary-authentication-server-group myLDAP [use-primary-username]
    This will prompt for 2 usernames & 2 passwords, unless you add "use-primary-username" but I guess in your case you do need 2 different usernames.

  • ISE Authentication Policy for RSA Securid and LDAP for VPN

    We are working on replacing our existing ACS server with ISE.  We have 2 groups of users, customers and employees.  The employee's utilize RSA securid for authentication while the customers use Window authentication.  We have integrated the AD into ISE using LDAP and this has been tested.  We are now working on trying to get the rsa portion to work.  We are wanting to utilize the authorization policy to assign the group-policy/IP for both clients via the LDAP user attributes.
    Here is my question:
    Under the authentication policy should we look @ an identity store that has RSA securid users, LDAP users and then internal users.  I assume if the user isn't present in the RSA store it will then look @ the LDAP, will this present an issue with overhead in our RSA environment.  With the legacy ACS the descsion on where to authenticate the user was done on the ACS, either Windows or RSA.  The employee users will still also be present in the LDAP so we can utilize the attributes for IP address/group policy.  The number of customer vpn's is several times larger than employees and I am afraid that if we have to query the securid servers for every authentication vpn authentication attempt this could cause issues.  Our utilimate goal is to move to any connect and utilize a single url for all authentication but allow ise to instruct the asa what attributes to hand to the client such as dns/Dacl.

    That is not what I want. I want user "test1" to be able to do this:

    In other words, test1 user has to type in his/her RSA token password to get
    into exec mode. After that, he/she has to use the RSA token password to
    get into enable mode. Each user can get into "enable" mode with his/her
    RSA token mode.
    The way you descripbed, it seemed like anyone in this group can go directly
    into enable mode without password. This is not what I have in mind.

  • Since I upgraded to Lion, my RSA securid token and Cisco VPN client doesn't work any longer. Anyone have suggestions on how to fix that?

    Since upgrading to Lion, I can no longer use VPN because my RSA securid token and CIsco VPN Client won't load. Any suggestioins out there?

  • Mac Lion can't connect to Cisco VPN with RSA authentication

    Hello,
    We have a problem with a manager who has upgrades his Mac to the latest Lion OS (64 bit), before uograding he could connect without any problem with his mac to our network and work on the terminal server. Since the upgrade he's not able to get it working in 64 bit (normal) mode.
    This our setup
    Cisco  PIX 515
    RSA Cisco Pix security Apliance.
    Does anybody have any advice to get this setup working.

    We have encounter the same issue with one of our sales director, the upgrade to MAC OS-X Lion breaks the VPN IPsec connexion. We have tryed various type of tunning with no sucess.
    Finally, as wordaround, we have installed the AnyConnect client and it works fine now.

  • VPN with RSA and LDAP Groups

    I'm tryin to rebuild our VPN environment with a pair of 5520. WE're going to use Anyconnect mobility exclusively with SSL. No IPSec and no SSL Webvpn.
    We have a large number of contractors using the VPN to access specific internal resources so I would like to use different IP subnets for each contractor assigned through group policy. I don't want to have a different URL for each contractor so I want to assign the group policy through LDAP group memebership. However, primary authentication will be via RSA 2 factor.
    How do I get the ASA to check group membership and hense assign the right group when primary authentication is through RSA?

    yes you can do the Authentication to an RSA server and the Authorization to the LDAP server.
    Please configure LDAP as an authorization server.

  • Using a Cisco VPN on an iPad and incorporating RSA tokens

    Hello Cisco community,
    I have what seems like a simple question.  I have nearly no network experience so I'm hoping someone here can just answer this.  I have this iPad project for my internship in which they want to create remote access to their network using a VPN and a soft/hard security token.  It would appear they already use RSA hard tokens for their current VPN connections from home.  They use laptops at their homes but wish to start using iPads as well.  So my question is, can an iPad support a Cisco VPN using a RSA hard token authentication? I just need a concrete answer to give to the management at work, and literally just need to give them somewhere to start.  Thank you for taking the time to read my question and answer it.

    Anyconnect on iphone/ipad/ipod should be able to handle hardtoken auth, but itegration with softoken might be problematic (last time I heard it was not supported at all).

  • Cisco ASA 5520 SSL VPN Web Login Customization For RSA Login

    I have a Cisco 5520 that I have RSA radius with hardware token up and working witrhout issue. The RSA radius authentication works fine.
    My problem is that I want the login page of the WebVPN portal to display two fields for the user RSA passcode. An RSA passcode is the PIN and the current toke code together.
    I want one field to accept the PIN from the passcode and the other field to accept the TOKEN CODE from the RSA token.
    Currently the login page has in this order:

    My end state would be:

    TOKENCODE:
    I know this has been done with the native Cisco IPSEC client but I cannot find a way to do this with the WebVPN login page. I have been thru the Customization page and can't seem to get this to work correctly.

  • Router to PC VPN with device authen only via RSA Sig

    Problem establishing a vpn between a cisco router and a PC based Cisco VPN Client
    using version 4.6 (had problems with 4.8 & 5.0). Only trying to accomplish
    device authenication with digital certificates without any interest in user
    authenication/authorization, so I've eliminated the Xauth from IKE and login
    stuff from the client config.
    I've got to take about half a dozen users into production asap...
    I am thinking the access list may be the problem since the pc client is
    expecting to have encrypted communications, but the cisco router is
    still doing all it's checks and balances with IKE/ISAKMP to finish device
    authenication with one certificate on each. Error message seem straight
    forward, but I'm new to the vpn config's and have tested pki for
    about 6 months wo/ going into production. Attached are logs with recommended
    debug turned on for crypto ike/ipsec/pki/etc.

    After further investigation, I'm more concerned about Cisco's IOS 12.4 "Certificate Server" being able to consistently build certificates. Do I need to depend upon a certain Test release like 12.4T because 12.4 isn't ready ....? It's in the 12.4 documentation as though it's ready and I couldn't find any comments in the caveats...
    I have tried to build a "request for a certificate" with both with the Cisco VPN Client 4.8/5.0, and Mozilla's add-on to firefox called Key Manager, but both failed.
    Just loading base64 instream directly into the IOS crypto cmd to enroll via the terminal fails regularly, besides trying to use SCEP (Cisco's simple certificate enrollment protocol).
    I don't care how it gets done, because I like Cisco's architecture so much, but it's got to be reliable.
    I don't mind getting involved with Cisco's testing and I believe I can replicate the errors.
    Attached is an error of the IOS 12.4 failing...

    I can't understand why do I have to attach the trustpoint to the crypto map - like this
    ASA(config)# crypto map <MAP> <10> set trustpoint <CA>
    I mean on IOS it works fine without this configuration - so if this is a security issue, then we should NOT use the rsa signature authentication on IOS. If it secure without this command, then why it is here and why do i have to use it (without it I was not able to establish IPsec tunnel between 2 ASAs).
    So what this command does und why do we need it only on ASA?

    To begin with, the ASA and the Router are two different devices, so you cannot expect the same behavior from both.
    On the other hand, please check this out:
    crypto map set trustpoint
    To specify the trustpoint that identifies the certificate to send for authentication during Phase 1 negotiations for the crypto map entry, use the crypto map set trustpoint command in global configuration mode.
    This crypto map command is valid only for initiating a connection..
    So it has be in your configuration

    I have a cisco asa 5505 that needs to be set up for site to site vpn to a cisco asa 5500. The 5505 is the remote office and the 5500 is the main office.

    Make some number ACL 101 as you do not have to write the extended keyword then if you like as follows, or else NAME aCL will also work:
