RSECLOG - how do i delete/truncate this table???

Hello BW people,
we turned on auth analysis 6 or 7 months ago and now we have a 260 gb table and i am trying to delete the logs manually thru RSECPROT but it is taking forever to delete one log (approx 30 mins).
is there either a program in sap or a manual way of deleteing or truncating this table?
any help would be very much appreciated.

if not s_select_option [ ] is initial.

where field in s_select_option.
endif.
commit work.
Be careful though. If select option is emty, you will delete the entire table.

Server Logon History table in master database has grown to 30GB. Is it a best practice to truncate this table?

I have noticed that the master database in our staging env has grown to 30Gb with 299803769 records. I am not sure why but this has happened in the last one year. Just from yesterday to today (1/1/2014 to 1/2/2014) it has 629921 records. Is it
a good practice to truncate or delete data from this table?

How can I delete a broken table?

Hi,
I´m still a oracle-noob, hope somebody can help me.
Last night the optimizer hanged on a single table, so I killed the optimizer-process. After that I checked the table where the optimizer hangs... The result was, that I can't make a query, and can't drop it. I tried dbverify, but no error. When I run optimizer again, or analyze it hangs...
So I tried to drop the user/schema and try to drop the tablespace...but it hangs to. When I stop the execution with ctrl+c it brings a ora-00604.
OS is AIX 5.3, DBMS 10.2.0.1, archivlog is activ, my SAN-guy told me, that there are no physical errors
How can I delete the table or tablespace? Thats enough for me, I don't need a backup via rman or something else (it also would be great, but I never used rman until now...i'm still a noob). And maybe someone can tell why I can't drop the table.

Yes restarting or killing all your user process could solve your problem but still you would like to do some more trouble shooting without restarting or killing processes then

We implemented delete mappings, and delete flows to be able to reverse a failed load. This is in my opinion a very sound and valid reason for deleting from a datawarehouse. Also if the need is there it could be used for deleting old superfluous data from the datawarehouse.
There are a few things to consider: closed records in type II should be opened up (post mapping).
Test, test, test.
It is indeed a bit tricky to realize,but certainly working and possible.
steps to take are following:
1) create new mapping
2) drop mapping table where to delete from onto mapping (2 times, 1 source, 1 target)
3) map all fields from source to their corresponding fields in target, except the ones that determine the "where" clause (Refered to as filter fields)
4) Either create a select, or a mapping input parameter which should result in generating the filter-values for your delete.
5) map above step to the filter fields.
6)define a delete mapping by altering target table properties as follows:
6a) Loading Type => Delete
6b) Match by constraint => No constraints
7) set properties each field as folows:
7a) filter fields match column when deleting => Yes
7b) other fields match column when deleting => No

How would I set up this table of Contents?

I can give you something that will be a little less manual, although not completely automated. It might seem like a lot of work, but it only takes a bit of time in the setup, and after that, it's all copying and pasting. Have a look at this screenshot:
I put in some placeholder text, created a headline style, and another style (the 6pt magenta text) called For TOC. I put in the title and author placeholders, separated by a tab and set the width of the text frame to something just below the width of the text frame that holds the body text, and I collapsed the height to fit the text. I set the placeholder text frame to non-printing with Window>Output>Attributes, copied the frame, and pasted it just after the headline paragraph (with a space between the headline and the now-anchored placeholder frame).
I then set the inline object to a custom position so that no matter where the headline was on the page, the anchored frame would be at the top of the page away from the spine. And, because the inline frame is set to non-printing, it won't show up on printouts or when exported to PDF. Once that's all set up, just copy the anchor and the space (you can use the story editor to make sure you are selecting just those two things) and paste them next to any headlines (or titles, in your case). You then copy the titles from the main text and paste them over the Title in the placeholder (I used Edit>Paste Without Formatting so that the style of the headline would change to the style of the placeholder). You would also type in the name of the author when you are entering the title into the placeholder.
In the table of contents, you would select the For TOC style, instead of the headline style for inclusion into the TOC. Make a paragraph style for the actual TOC, and set the tab stops there, and you will have:
Title..............Author................Page #
The placeholder will travel with the title, so as long as you remember to update any text in the placeholder if you choose to update the titles, you should be good to go.

How to cpature hard deletes in custom table?

We have custom table in SAP attached to the application tcode.
As per business requirement, user can delete few items in transacation( hard deletes).
We are planning to delete these records from custom table if user delete them in Tcode. However the we need track all of these deleted records.
Since the record physically deleted from this table, please let me know how to capture the deleted record.
I heard about CDPOS and CDHDR not sure this table has deleted records. and also DBTABLOG as well.
What is main diffrence between CDPOS/CDHDR with DBTABLOG interms tracking these deleted records. Our basis team recommending not use DBTABLOG table, since its huge table and its hard for them to archvie.
Like to listen expert advices.

Thanks for ur rely! but deletion of table is only possible when it refer to nothing or refers to only abap programs . Because my program refers to some search helps and screens and programs i am not able to delete it. Even in SE56 and SE57 showing the same message.
Is there any way to delete the table with out affecting the programs and search help( without commenting the part of programs that uses tha table and deleating the search help).
Is it possible to create anather customize with same attribute and fields and replacing the new table with old table.

Once a row is deleted from a table ,how can i recover it back in the table?

Now I want to use this table again for some other program,how should i restore the deleted rows so that i can use the table properly.
However toad tool showing that no row is deleted from the table.

If you want to Delete Custom DB table then you can use FM RS_DD_DELETE.
You can delete, if the table is not used anywhere in SAP.

It is very interesting question. If you debug your table maintenance screen, the program of table maintenance screen will not have statically defined pf status. So you cannot exclude delete functionalities using the below statement.
SET PF-STATUS <the GUI status> EXCLUDING 'DELE'.
For viewing pf status SAP has programmed in dynamic manner using this FM VIEW_SET_PF_STATUS.
Before calling above FM you need to exclude delete function. Follow the following step for achieving this
Go to sm30. Put your table name and press on maintain push button. It will display table entries in maintenance screen.
Go to system->status
Click on program name.
Go to your flow logic of you table maintenance screen number.
It will have following code in flow logic

How can i find out the table hierarchy

Hi experts,
I have one doubt. how can i find out the table hierarchy in the particular schema.
Let me explain my requirement in detail.. In my Database i have nearly 250 table each table have it's own temporary table(for authorization purpose we are maintaining the temporary tables) for each day i have to clear the temporary table data.
All temporary table connected with each other. i mean all the table having foreign key relationship.. while i attempt the delete the data from the temporary table it showed ORA-02292: integrity constraint violated - child record found.
So can any one please tell how can i delete the child table record first and then parent record table record.

Deleting the staging tables

Hi all,
We are upgrading from 8.4 to 9.0 financials.
we are at re-applying customizations phase now.
In previous version(8.4), there was a custom app engine to delete the Voucher Staging tables(EC tables).
in that app engine, all deletes were based on ECQUEUEINSTANCE field.
(for ex delete from PS_VCHR_HDR_EC WHERE ECQUEUEINSTANCE BETWEEN 1234 AND 1235)
Peoplesoft changed EC tables to STG tables in 9.0 version
So my question is that in 8.4 in PS_VCHR_PYMT_EC has the ECQUEUEINSTANCE field in it. but the corresponding table PS_VCHR_PYMT_STG table does not have the ECQUEUEINSTANCE field. I am just wondering if any one got into this situation and how did you delete the PS_VCHR_PYMT_STG table?
I don't want to delete everything in PS_VCHR_PYMT_STG table.

I have a transport request that is released. I make bad this request and i need delete it. But, when i go to se10 and I try to delete I recive this messagge:
Request/task ____ already releaded (not modificable).
How can I delete this request?

Hi,
It is easilly possible to delete the cofile and the datafile of the released transport request but why would you need to do that ?
It is also possible to delete a transport request in the transport tables but it is a very bad idea and could even be seen as a temptative to hide a forbidden action in the system.
It will be seen by a security audit as this would create a hole in the request order numbering.
You would need to use direct database access to delete a released transport request.
As I told you before, I would NOT do it as it is hasardous et may generate security audit problems.
You can also destroy your transport system.
Transport requests are stored in table E070.
We only modify the e070 table after system copy by database refresh to reset the next transport request number. It is done by inserting a line in the table. We never delete inside this table.
