RSS Feed title for blog shows default text

I've made my first pass at an iWeb blog on me.com. When I subscribe via RSS, the title of the blog shows up as "About this Blog". Is there a place in iWeb where I can change this?
Thanks!

I have been watching this thread every day waiting for the solution. Surely Apple will allow us to name our RSS feeds something other than "No Title." ... anyone?

    Can somebody show me how to show the description with this?
    import fl.managers.StyleManager; import fl.events.ListEvent; var logFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); logFormat.font = "Verdana"; logFormat.size = 9; logFormat.bold = true; StyleManager.setStyle("textFormat", logFormat); var rssLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader (); var rssURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.vegasdsports.com/feeds/nba_widget.php"); rssLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, rssLoaded); rssLoader.load(rssURL); var rssXML:XML = new XML(); rssXML.ignoreWhitespace = true; function rssLoaded(evt:Event):void { rssXML = XML(rssLoader.data); for(var item:String in rssXML.channel.item) { liLog.addItem( {label:rssXML.channel.item[item].title,link:rssXML.channel.item[item].link} ); } } liLog.addEventListener(ListEvent.ITEM_CLICK,clickedLogF); function clickedLogF(e:ListEvent){ navigateToURL(new URLRequest((liLog.getItemAt(e.index).link))); }
    Thanks in advance

    Hmm, I may be a little late, but its here if anyone else needs it.
    ActionScript 3 Code:
    //startScript
    import flash.net.URLLoader;
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import fl.managers.StyleManager;
    import flash.text.TextFormat;
    import flash.events.KeyboardEvent;
    var logFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
    logFormat.font = "Arial";
    logFormat.size = 10;
    logFormat.color = 0xFFFFFF;
    logFormat.bold = true;
    StyleManager.setStyle("textFormat", logFormat);
    //RSS Feed
    var rssLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    var rssURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://yourFileHere.xml");
    rssLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, rssLoader1);
    rssLoader.load(rssURL);
    var rssXML:XML = new XML();
    rssXML.ignoreWhitespace = true;
    function rssLoader1(event:Event):void {
    rssXML = XML(rssLoader.data);
    trace(rssXML);
    for(var item:String in rssXML.channel.item) {
      "your list component name here".addItem( {label:rssXML.channel.item[item].title } );
    function selectLog(event:Event):void {
    "your description box here".text = rssXML.channel.item[ event.target.selectedIndex ].description;
    "your list component name here".addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, selectLog);
    //endScript
    Note: You can use a classic text "Dynamic Text" box, size it to how big you want the text to f. From there, get a UI Scrollbar from the components, put it somewhere, and go into its Properties. Go to where it says "Component Paramaters" and then "scrollTargetName". Set this to your textbox/description box name. And there you have it. A full working RSS Feed Title and Description file.

  • How to get RSS feed url for site?

    Is there a way to get the RSS feed url for a blog using Safari?  I'm currently using FF for this since it is very simple.  But that's about the only reason I use FF.  Would be nice not to need two tools.
    I don't want to subscribe to the site in Safari.  I have an RSS Reader app that I plug the url into.  I just want to see the url.

    For some reason they removed that handy feature from Safari. But, there is an Extension called RSS Menu, which will add a button on your toolbar, giving you that function back.

  • RSS Feed Headers for Multiple Blogs on My Site

    I have been using iWeb to design a new site that contains two separate blogs:
    http://web.me.com/matthew.sholler/Site/Notebook/Notebook.html
    http://web.me.com/matthew.sholler/Site/Civics/Civics.html
    When I test the RSS feed for each in Safari, however, I have a problem. The "Notebook" blog name appears in the blue banner, but when I access the "Civics" blog feed, its name does not. Can anyone tell me how to make it appear? I realize that Apple may not have intended to allow the use of more than one blog for iWeb, but any creative solutions for my idea are welcome.

    I figured this out myself: In my haste to redesign the layout of my blog pages, I left the pre-set text box for the blog name blank--so the feed banner appeared blank as well.
    On a side note, I've seen a lot of questions on this board concerning blogs and feeds, and many of them have gone unanswered for months. How are people supposed to rely on this board for support if no one answers their questions?

  • I used to have an RSS feed to a blog site which is protected by a username and password rembered by Firefox. I am now asked for those details when trying to enter the blog and despite entering them correctly I am denied entry.

    My old server (5.5. years) was failing me and loosing some random items. I have accessed this blog site for the past three years and during that period the access passwords and user names have been changed several times. Each time I asked Firefox to remember the correct details and I gained entry with no problems. Before I replaced the equipment I was continually refused entry despite entering all the correct information. I received a message telling me that I was either not entering the correct information (which according to the Blog editor I was) or that my server did not know how to connect to the RSS feed.

    Try BottomFeeder for those live feeds.

  • Podcasting with iWeb- RSS FEED TITLE?!?!!?!?

    Alright, I put my podcast together using Audacity for the most part but used the new Garage Band to fix it up and add an introduction. Then I exported it in to iWeb from Garage Band to publish it to the web. You can see it for yourself at podcast.notsam.com. Now, for some reason when one hits subscribe to podcast from the site it appears with the RSS feed URL as the title. For this same reason iTunes won't accept it as the "Feed doesn't have a title." Am I missing something here. Obviously I created a title for it, and it does have one before I upload. Any help? Thanks

    iWeb appears to name the RSS feed from the title text that appears on the picture frame at the top of your initial weblog page. This defaults to "My Blog" - hence your RSS feed gets this name.
    I've managed to fix it in mine - http://web.mac.com/karen.hughes/iWeb/Curlypaws/Curlypaws%20Blog/Curlypaws%20Blog .html - note how the title on the picture (not the page title) is "Curlypaws Blog" and if you subscribe to the RSS feed, that is what it will be called. Not very intuitive - it puzzled me until I read the earlier post in here from jayeaster and then played around with my own site.

  • Rss feed address for a wiki page

    Wondering what the rrs feed url is for a group wiki- I've tried a few in mail to subscribe to but they dont seem to work. Maybe I need the password/user name somehow

    I'm not running the Wiki software to check this; the following is generic RSS.
    Is there an RSS icon (often an orange chicklet, though Safari shows a blue RSS chicklet) visible (somewhere) in the browser?
    If so, there's an RSS feed. If not, there probably isn't. (Or your chosen browser doesn't display RSS feeds, mayhap?)
    In most browsers, you can click on the RSS icon to subscribe.
    If your browser doesn't have the RSS icon, you can usually determine if there is a View Source (often Cmd-U) and search for the RSS entry in the HTML text. Cut-and-paste the URL into your RSS viewer, and off you go.
    Depending on the browser and how the browser and the RSS viewer is configured, clicking on the icon will subscribe to the RSS feed. (The feed will be subscribed in some RSS viewer, though maybe not the one you wanted to use.)
    I don't know of a good way to get the RSS feed in Safari without either subscribing (and then fetching the URL out of the RSS stash), or without looking at the URL. I haven't found a chord that retrieves it into the paste buffer.

  • Why does the Java script work on my RSS feed work for Internet explorer but not for Firefox?

    I have finished building the website for my Girlfriend and the only thing left is the RSS feed. It works just fine in IE 8 but in Fire Fox 9 when the widget is clicked a bookmark box pops up and asks if I want to save it as a bookmark. I am not a Java script programer so I am hoping for some help here!! Here is the script:

  • Help: Editing RSS Feed Button for Feedburner URL

    I have an RSS feed on my iWeb site - just the standard RSS item from the iWeb menu, but I'd like to change the URL to the feed to a Feedburner URL.
    Is there any way of doing this without having a custom button? I can't see any way using inspector or anything...
    TIA

    I think I'll just create a custom button with the RSS link on it, containing the link to the Feedburner feed.
    After looking around a bunch, I'm not sure you can do this as an iWeb setting...

  • Blog rss feed is buggy?

    Has anyone had luck creating a blog rss feed? When I look at my rss feed in Safari it shows an small image and text for each entry. When I click on the image, instead of linking to the entry page, Safari opens a full sized image.
    You can see this at: feed://rss.mac.com/kevinpackard/iWeb/The%20Packards/690A4A1C-A190-4DF0-B0B2-635 DD508F304/rss.xml
    I think it's a bug, but thought I'd run it by the forum here before I file it as a bug with Apple.
    Thanks,
    Kevin Packard

    I had set the webpage URL to www.server.edu/~login/ when I was asked after choosing to publish the site, and when I clicked on the RSS button all I saw was a white screen with some broken images and a few bits of text. When I changed the URL to www.server.edu/~login/blog/rss.xml, it now works correctly.

  • Display RSS Feed Description of selected Title

    Hei There,
    Since i'm no programmer, i should be able to make this happen in siena, so thanks for clear explanations in advance. I would like to display the RSS-Feed Titles in one Listbox, and then show the Content (Description) of the selected RSS-Title in the second
    Listbox. How would i do this? My best attempt ist the following sting which doesnt work:
    rss_1(Filter(Listbox1,SelectedItems!Description))
    rss_1 is my RSS Data Source
    Thank you so much for your Help

    I found a solution to this Problem (Thanks to @Marcel Spring)
    1. Create a gallery (i used a custom gallery)
    2. Use a Text Label as Visual
    3. Only Show RSS-Title
    4. Add Visual HTML Text
    5. Use the function <<Gallery3!Selected!description>> In my example, the Gallery3 was the above mentionend custom gallery.
    Done :-)

  • Rss:PubDate gives too much info to iWeb Blog RSS feed

    Hi All!
    Blog pages are setup in iWeb, and I've got an external "bot" that subscribes to the RSS feed from the blog. I'm grabbing the feed and stripping the {rss:pubDate}, {rss:title} and {rss:description} fields from the feed to re-format for posting in a discussion forum. (Note: no copyright issues here, as I write the blog, publish the feed, and host/admin/moderate the forum.)
    I'm wondering if the {rss:PubDate} field can be stripped down to include less information in the feed? It seems the PubDate is derived from the date and time of the blog post that's feeding it. ie: I enter 12/28/1993 in the blog entry "Date" field... the RSS feed comes out with the date I entered, AND the time of day and GMT offset the post was created. I don't need the time of day and GMT offset in my forum post headlines... is there any way to put less information into the {rss:PubDate} field via the blog entry page in iWeb? I'd like my {rss:PubDate} field to read "12/28/1993" instead of "12/28/1993 04:23:57 -0800"
    Ideas?
    -Case

    Bonjour
    For RSS feed, iWeb only use the URL you write in the Site Publishings settings. Make sure that you've written http://thesnugglycactus.net/ and not https://thesnugglycactus.net/
    But I don't really think that you wrote https, otherwise RSS feed would not be your only issue.

    On the off chance that posting this will get me banned from the board,
    David, to be honest, I seriously doubt this gets you banned. Or reprimanded.
    I think "the big notion" behind iTunes U is the Apple is allowing us to
    take part in the synergy that exists between iPod/iPhone and iTunes
    and apply it to our educational purposes. But I do not think that using
    iTunes (the application) is a requirement ... it is more of the reason to
    do iTunes U. It's not a "must", it's a "why" ... if you follow me.
    iTunes U is about portable and asynchronous access to content ... it's about
    brushing up on, say, a WWDC session while I'm on the "el" on my way to work.
    While I might, conceivably, be able to wrangle WWDC sessions using something
    other than iTunes, I'm never going to have the same ease-of-use experience
    that I would just using iTunes to do everything.

    Now, a few caveats here...that file must be publically accessible, meaning the "all" credential must have download privileges. If it does not, you will get a Forbidden restriction error.
    I suspect it'd work if "Unauthenticated" also had download access to the file.
    The good news there is that, as you point out, Apple continues to
    enforce our security policies no matter how the file is accessed (iTunes,
    NetNewsWire, etc.).
    You've found an interesting little hack ... it's something to know.
