RT system timeout when update from NI-DAQmx 8.9.5 to 9.0.2

I installed LabVIEW 2009 on my host (Window XP) which now has NI-DAQmx 9.0.2 installed.  My remote RT chassis has NI-DAQmx 8.9.5 installed.   I need to have NI-DAQmx versions match on my host and remote systems.  I have tried using the LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard to install NI-DAQmx 9.0.2 from my host.  The installer tries to reboot the remote chassis to the install mode but times out and returns Error Code 56.  How do I get my versions to match?

Solved!
Go to Solution.

As you stated, be sure to install LV RT 2009 then you should be able to update the DAQmx drivers for your RT system.
You may also see error 56 (timeout) if the RT target is running untimed loops and starving the thread, or if you have a firewall blocking certain ports. Check out this KB on error 56.

    Greetings,
We have several OL 6U5 UEK boxes registered to ULN. We are trying to install apps, and meet prerequisites by installing rpms from ULN.
Each ULN rpm install stalls for a LONG time ~30 minutes, i.e.
    # yum install  nss-pam-ldapd
    Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security
This system is receiving updates from ULN.

What gives, this is KILLING us!
Thank you in advance for your support!
    Respectfully,
    Roddy

I too noticed unusual hangs and very sporadic processing, using Oracle Public Yum though. It seems to get worse the more updates get released. I recently had it hanging for 15 minutes showing no progress. Strace does not give any clues beside showing a large amount of reading and writing by the yum utility (read, write, lseek), although non of the cache files appeared to be changing. Doing a yum clean all did not help in my case.
Perhaps avaliable I/O and data fragementation affect yum makecache performance. Downloading the data from the Internet looks ok in my case, which is about 2.5 MB/s. It seesm to be some yum local processing of the data that seesm to be the culprit.
I have not checked recently, but I noticed that the "latest" channels started to include all the source packages. The /var/cache/yum diretory in 6.6 using only the "latest" channel is already about 300 MB. I don't understand why the rpms packages need to be there, but unless anyone tells me otherwise I wonder it if might cause the slowdown.

  • Signed, cached JNLP applet doesn't start when updating from 1.6 to 1.7

Hi, yesterdays forced upgrade from Java6 to Java7 uncovered a nasty surprise for us:
We're running a game client through JNLP embedded in the browser using signed all-permission jars. The certificate is definitely valid and hasn't timed out.
When upgrading from 1.6 to 1.7 the applet won't start because of a supossed permission violation for the cached jars. Web start thinks that the jars in the cache are not signed (although they are).
Deleting the applet cache through the control panel, or deploying a new version of the applet both solves the problem as then the cached version will be overwritten with a newly downloaded version, and everything works fine from then on until switching back to 1.6 again.
Are 1.6 vs. 1.7 cached, signed jars not compatible? Something to do with pre-validation? Wouldn't it be a good idea to completely invalidate the applet cache in the JRE installer? Is this a bug on the JRE side, or are we somehow not using JNLP the right way (we're running the game for 2 years now, and a couple of million players have played the game since then on JRE6, so I assume we're using JNLP basically the right way).
Also, early JRE7 preview versions didn't seem to have this problem, I remember testing JRE7 intensively a few months back without any problems, however I'm not sure whether the cache remained intact when installing the preview JRE7 runtime.
Here are the console traces, please excuse the German, hopefully it's still clear what happens.
Oops, unfortunately I can only send 30k characters per post. I'd be happy to send you more traces, and additional information. Thanks in advance :)

Wouldn't it be a good idea to completely invalidate the applet cache in the JRE installer?Yes, I guess it should be an option for user of the app on first start after upgrade, not for the JRE installer. There are many large applications that users would want to avoid re-download.
From the log, there is some hidden exception during first launch. The best way to proceed is to file a bug, including some guest/debugging access to the game.

  • Computer freeze when updating from OS 9.2 to 10.2

    Hi,
I have a grey/blue ibook 366Mhz purchased the summer of 2000. I'm trying to update to OS 10.2. So far, I've updated from 9.06 to 9.2.1 to 9.2.2 (the required sequence), updated the firmware to 4.1.7, and installed third party RAM. I bought the install discs (10.2)from ebay. They are white colored and should work, according to the help files, although the seller did not send me the third "tools" disk.
When I try to install 10.2, the computer freezes at startup. A grey screen with the apple logo appears, and then the screen freezes and splits.
The point of this upgrade is to use our Verizon internet service, which requires OS X. If there's a way around that requirement, it would be just as good.
Does this sound familiar to anyone. Thanks for any help you can offer,
    Andrew

    Andrew:
You apparently have an Upgrade Version, which requires that you have the previous version installed on the HDD. What you need is the Full Retail Version. Check the picture of the disks posted by ali brown by clicking here However, instead of upgrading to Jaguar, since you have to purchase new install disks anyway, I suggest that you consider upgrading to Panther, which is a lot more powerful and stable OS. Your computer will easily support Panther if it meets that other the minimum system requirements for Panther.
Panther is no longer available directly from Apple, but you can find the Full Retail Version of Panther, if you shop carefully, at online outlets like FastMac; HardcoreMac, AllMac etc. If you know what you are looking for, read all documentation carefully and ask questions of the seller, you may be able to get
    Panther on eBay.
I will probably contact the ebay seller, since he gave the impression that he was selling the full retail version.
I definitely think you should do so.
Please do post back with further questions or comments.
    Cheers

  • 10.6.4 complete system freeze when resuming from screensaver-VMWare Fusion

I have a Macbook Pro, 3,1. I just upgraded to 10.6.4 and noticed the following symptoms:
Shortly after launching VMWare Fusion 3.1 running a Windows XP VM (from a Bootcamp partition), a series of pop up messages were complaining about a bad OpenGL driver. The message popped up repeatedly and wouldn't let me out, even though I kept pressing "Ok". I had to force quit Fusion, which caused a chkdsk on relaunch of the XP VM.
After a complete reboot, I started VMWare again. The Fusion complaints haven't shown up again, but when resuming from the screensaver, the system either completely freezes up, or the screen login window starts to flash rapidly and seize up. I'm running Spaces with 6 virtual screens. Whether I'm in the Fusion Spaces screen or any other Spaces screen, the system freaks out when resuming from a screensaver.
I use this system at work, so I have to be able to lock my screen when I leave my cube. The only way I've been able to ensure the system doesn't freeze up and cause a hard reset of the XP VM is to completely disable the screensaver and power saver features, such as Start Screen Saver = Never, Computer Sleep = Never, Display Sleep = Never and launch the login window by clicking on my user name in the upper right corner of the screen on the menu bar. Even that causes a sluggish screen and I'm not confident it will keep working. I also made sure (from day one) that the Windows XP screensaver functions were all completely disabled. I prefer to use the OS X screensaver for everything, if for no other reason than having a single screen locking/unlocking point for when I step away.
This was all working properly in 10.6.3. The only nit-nat I noticed about Fusion in 10.6.3 was that it had to be launched in the "Primary Window", which seems to be the upper leftmost Spaces desktop. If I ever moved it to, or started in any other Spaces desktop, it would also exhibit the same random lockups. Keeping it in the "primary" space seems to have stopped the lockups.
I noticed that there seemed to be significant updates to the OpenGL drivers in 10.6.4. I am experiencing an unfortunate side effect of these updates and hope I'm not alone and that a fix is coming soon. Looking at the other posts, there seem to be a lot of similar problems. I wanted to describe my configuration in case the Apple dev team reads these posts. Thanks.

I ended up doing an erase and fresh install of Snow Leopard (10.6.0), upgraded to 10.6.4 with the combo update, then a fresh install of all my apps, including VMware 3.1. Everything has been solid for 2 days now. I'm guessing that my system had a magic combination of issues that weren't visible in 10.6.3 but became obvious only after upgrading to 10.6.4. I had been upgrading my OS since 10.5.0 over the last 2 years and needed to do a clean re-install for some time now.
I'm guessing that others who are noticing problems with the 10.6.4 update have a similar situation with their installations. Think back on all the times a software installation failed, or the system required a hard boot. Plus, I had a lot of 3rd party apps on my box that never posted updates for later Snow Leopard releases, so who knows? Anyway, it's good to have a clean and snappy system again. A lot of my apps launch a lot faster now and survive the screen saver and power saver modes just fine.

  • Error when updating from FM 8.0p266

    Hi,
I can't seem to get patches for FrameMaker 8 to be installed.
I have not been working in FrameMaker for a couple of months, but now I will start doing some changes for my templates and would like to use the latest version on FrameMaker.
    I have version 8.0p266.
When trying to use Updates from the menu I get an error.
I get the same error when going to Adobes pages and try to bring down patches directly from there.
    The error I get is:
You do not have correct version of FM install on your system. This patch installer will work only with Version 8b266 build.
    Patch installer will quit now.
I have tried the patch 8p273.
    What can I do?
    Grateful for answers.
    Regards
    Monica Svanlind

I finally managed to install the updates, by logging out, logging in as administrator, re-installing the updates in order by executing the update files directly (double-click on them in Windows Explorer), and then logging out and logging back in as myself.
FrameMaker installation and maintenance seems to work best (only if?) you do it as the administrator user (which is possibly a bug in itself). If you're running the update from within FrameMaker itself, you are unlikely to be logged in as administrator.
The Frame support desk told me to uninstall and reinstall the whole package and updates. In the end I didn't have to do this. I don't know if it would have worked anyway for my system unless performed as administrator, which they and all documentation didn't mention.

  • Want to keep system preferences when updating OS

Hi, I need to update from OS X 10.5.8 Leopard to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard on my MB Pro. (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB SDRAM)  Before I begin, can anyone tell me if there is a good way to keep my system preferences and applications preferences without having to "start over" after the system upgrade? Will I have to reinstall every piece of software? Thanks in advance for any help.

How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
Wait for installer to finish loading.
    E. If updating:
    Download and install update(s)
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).
Updating does not erase anything except operating system files.

  • Do I have to upgrade my software when updating from 10.3.9 to Tiger?

I have pretty much the latest versions of all my software, as far as 10.3.9, anyhow. Mostly, I used Adobe and Macromedia programs, and I use Eudora (I have the latest one- 6.2 - I know they've stopped updating it.)
Also, I still use my Classic environment fairly often... for certain reasons I want to be able to continue using a few old items on this computer. At some point, I'll get another Mac with all the latest and greatest, but this one I need to keep and use the way it is.
The reason I'd put Tiger on it, is because so many things these days need at least 10.4 to run. Including the very latest upgrades for my Adobe software. I go back and forth on whether the possible disrupiton is worth gaining the ability to use more currently available "stuff" that needs 10.4+.
So... I can't seem to find any specifically notes stating that my system 9 software will be okay and run all right in tiger's classic environment, nor whether the programs I use, e.g. Adobe Creative Studio and the DreamWeaver Studio group, will be okay with this update. I hope, too, that things like Eudora, PopChar, Suitcase, etc, will be all right. I will probably update some programs gradually, but am hoping I won't actually HAVE to just because of installing 10.4.
I'll clone my hard drive etc, before doing it, of course...
But, anyway, does anyone have experience of making this change this way, maybe upgrading their software later but not having to do it right away?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It is worth doing the upgrade to Tiger. Most or perhaps all your Classic applications will work OK. I still have Tiger & classic works well. You will need the appropriate Tiger retail installation dvd. After installation do all the upgrades. I suggest if the Tiger version you get is less than 10.4.11 that you download the Combo 10.4.11 update from Apple downloads. Then use Software Update to check for any other updates needed. You should run Disk utility after each upgrade and correct permissions.

  • HT4972 What happens with games when updating from 5.1.1 to 6 or 7?

Do you loose history on games when updating to latest software?

You shouldn't but backups are always recommended. If you have a iPad 1 (no camera) you won't have this problem. iPad 1s can't be upgraded beyond IOS 5.1.1.

  • InDesign crash when updated from InCopy

From 2007 to last week I have never had any issues with InDesign and InCopy. LOVE the way they work together.
Upgraded to CS6 two weeks ago... Put one set of papers out last week with some odd things happeing where InDesign would update an InCopy edit and they seconds later it would be out of date again.
Now this week all updates from InCopy crash InDesign.
This is driving me crazy. I have started replacing content with InCopy files just to have them show up out of date... and any update crashes InDeisgn.
I have no idea how I am going to get through this weeks paper.
    Any help out there???
    Thanks
    Chris
Windows 7, one is brand new... all CS6 all fresh clean installs...

    OK... this is gettin worse.
Now I cant place a PDF.
I moved all files to my local computer, still haveing issues!
    Completely unacceptable!

  • Should I be concerned with losing existing data (projects or events) when updating from FCPX to FCPX 10.1?)

I purchased a Macbook Pro loaded with FCPX from a private party. I now want to update from FCPX to FCPX 10.1 should I be concered about losing my exhisting projects and events? The previous version of FCPX is registered to another person and wondered if this could potentially overwrite anything. I backed everything up to another drive but, just wondered if anyone has done this sucessfully?

The project files are put where FCP X wants to put them. If you render anything, it puts the rendering where it wants to put it.
FCP X has three opportunities to lose something - it can't find your project, it can't find the event, the event can't find the media. We see it on this forum all the time and right now 10.1 is managing all that and screwing it up for some people. We see FCP X updating events and projects...
With Motion 5, I put my project file where I want - in a folder for that project. In that same folder, I have all my media. It's not necessary to have a feature where it moves my files for me to another drive, etc. I simply drag that folder anywhere I want and all the links are in tact because the links are relative.
With FCP X, even if I don't copy the media to the events folder and leave it where I want, it still creates a folder with its own hierarchy - Backups, Old Versions, Original Media, Render Files, Transcoded Media...
FCP X's method opens people up to more problems, obviously. You don't see people on the Motion forum talking about how Motion moved media or put it in the trash etc. The only thing that can happen is the small XML project file can't find the media and so you simply relink and you can use Spotlight for that.
Seems like there are more headaches with FCP X's method.

How do I resolve system instability and correct these warning messages? I have Leopard running on other Macs (iMac and Macbook Pro) with no issues

    Hi Joe,
I'm having the exact same issue - when my PB is going to sleep - because I have left the computer on - makes it somehow go into a DEEP SLEEP - and the system can only be brought back into a running state by pressing the START button - and then the system reboots and the system clock goes back to zero (or something..) Hope that an update soon will fix it.
The only fix I can suggest is to set the system NOT to sleep by itself - but that's somehow a waste of energy to me.

    Hello @Corinneann,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see Windows did an automatic update to Windows 8.1 and now you are not able to install the software and drivers for your HP Photosmart C8180. You get an error 'Operating system not supported, installation cannot continue'. I would like you to follow the steps listed below:
    1. Unplug the USB if using a direct connection.
    2. Remove the HP C8180 software from your computers Control Panel's Uninstall a program option.
