RuleAuthor : error importing XML Schemas into Data Model

Hi,
I have problems during import XML Schema in my Data Model.
I'm following these steps:
1) Click Definitions tab;
2) Click XMLFact;
3) Click Create
4) I enter the path for the schema and the directory to store JAXB-generated classes. In this directory every user has all permission (777).
In the next step when I click on "Add Shemas" I have this error:
java.io.IOException: Not enough space at java.lang.UNIXProcess.forkAndExec(Native Method) at java.lang.UNIXProcess.<init>(UNIXProcess.java:53) at java.lang.ProcessImpl.start(ProcessImpl.java:65) at java.lang.ProcessBuilder.start(ProcessBuilder.java:451) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:591) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:429) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:326) at oracle.rules.sdk.datamodel.impl.DataModelUtil.compileJavaFile(DataModelUtil.java:479) at oracle.rules.sdk.datamodel.DataModelManager.addXMLSchemaPath(DataModelManager.java:984) at oracle.rules.sdk.mapper.RuleObjectHelper.addSchemapath(RuleObjectHelper.java:2759) at oracle.rules.ra.uix.mvc.SchemaSelectorEH.addSchema(SchemaSelectorEH.java:138) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:585) at oracle.rules.ra.uix.mvc.BeanEH.genericHandleEvent(BeanEH.java:869) at oracle.rules.ra.uix.mvc.BeanEH.handleEvent(BeanEH.java:838) at oracle.cabo.servlet.event.TableEventHandler.handleEvent(Unknown Source) at oracle.cabo.servlet.event.TableEventHandler.handleEvent(Unknown Source) at oracle.cabo.servlet.event.BasePageFlowEngine.handleRequest(Unknown Source) at oracle.cabo.servlet.AbstractPageBroker.handleRequest(Unknown Source) at oracle.cabo.servlet.ui.BaseUIPageBroker.handleRequest(Unknown Source) at oracle.cabo.servlet.PageBrokerHandler.handleRequest(Unknown Source) at oracle.cabo.servlet.UIXServlet.doGet(Unknown Source) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:743) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:856) at com.evermind.server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.invoke(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:711) at com.evermind.server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.forwardInternal(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:368) at com.evermind.server.http.HttpRequestHandler.doProcessRequest(HttpRequestHandler.java:866) at com.evermind.server.http.HttpRequestHandler.processRequest(HttpRequestHandler.java:448) at com.evermind.server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:302) at com.evermind.server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:190) at oracle.oc4j.network.ServerSocketReadHandler$SafeRunnable.run(ServerSocketReadHandler.java:260) at com.evermind.util.ReleasableResourcePooledExecutor$MyWorker.run(ReleasableResourcePooledExecutor.java:303) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595)
I cannot find the solution!
Can someone help me?
Thanks.

Do you still have enough disk space available on your file system to store the different xml-facts the RuleAuthor will create for you?

• Error Importing Repository Schema Into Repository

Hi,
I am currently working on a project at a client and I am having an issue importing an XML Repository Schema into a repository.
I have Development and Quality Repositories which are supposed to be nearly identical. There have been quite a few changes made to the Quality Repository and the client wants me to export the Quality schema and import it into the Development repository and accept a few changes (I realize changes are typically migrated from Development to Quality). This should be a relatively simple task however I keep receiving the following error: u201COne or more of the selected items requires that you select additional itemsu201D, when I attempt to change just one field. I have scoured the SAP forums and exhausted the Reference Guide for MDM and I cannot find a solution. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Don

Hi,
You are facing this issue because you are trying to import changes in an object, but rejecting changes for its dependent objects. For example, you are trying to import a new port with a new remote system, but not accepted change in the remote system table.
I would suggest you to check the MDM log files. it will give you more details why your import repository schema is failing, and which dependent object need to be imported.
Kindly check the log files and revert.
Best Regards,
Shiv

• Importing into Data modeler 3.3

Hi,
I am importing tables from a Data Dictionary into Data Modeler 3.3
Some tables import with the correct datatypes (i.e. varchar2, number etc) but others import with a datatype of unknown.
any ideas?
I can update the datatype in Table Properties but there are many tables and this will take a while to do!
Thanks
Regards
Nikki

Hi Philip,
Yes, I'm working on an Oracle database - 10G. It varies, the database tables are defined with varchar2, number, nothing special. It seems to be linked to foreign key relationships. I am going to try import the entire database instead of breaking the tables up by module (our own defined modules). Will let you know.

• How can I import Openldap schema into sun one directory server?

Hello All
I have a schema which was written for openldap, and I want to import this schema into sun directory server. I found that some attribute syntaxes, like "NumericString", are not exist in sun directory server and some attribute definitions are also different. For example, the "internationaliSDNNumber" in sun directory is defined in "IA5String" syntax, but it is "NumericString" in openldap. Is there any effect on querying data from two different ldap server? How can I solve this problem?
Thank you!

Migration
GaryThanks! But after I use some of scripts in that page, I got
"Unknown attribute syntax OID "1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.36"
It seems those scripts only transform schema file format, not the gap between different type(attribute syntax). Is it possible to import or add new type(attribute syntax) in sun one directory server?
Thanks.

• How do I prevent errors importing foreign characters into subtitles for DVD studio pro?

How do I prevent errors importing foreign characters into subtitles for DVD studio pro?
I have figured out just about everything necessary for creating subtitle tracks in several foreign languages, but the only problem is that some individual characters in some languages (like the "open quotation mark" symbol in Lithuanian!) do not import properly into the subtitle track. I can type or paste the symbols in manually, but this means doing it hundreds of times in several different languages, and defeats the purpose of using the system I've created.
Does anyone know how to import some of these odd characters.
I import characters using a text file saved in Unicode-16, and I set the language of the track to the proper language (for instance, Lithuanian).
I can't find the answer anyway, and really am stumped!!
Thank you!!

i think i might have figured out a solution. it's a quirk in the program. i noticed that sometimes the quotation marks DO actually import, but only if they are in the middle of a sentence. they only FAIL to import at the beginning of a sentence. so, what i did was to paste a space before the beginning of every sentence with a weird low-down quotation mark, and it imported fine.
and it also seems to kill two birds with one stone, because sometimes it seems that DVD studio pro cuts off a few pixels at the beginning of a line -- so with a space inserted it just cuts off...nothing.
so far so good. thank you for trying to help, Tom. MUCH APPRECIATED. this stuff can be very frustrating. i'm already going bald fast enough....erg.

HELP!!!
SGAREN

Hello Sally,
First, I have only heard/read good things about the book Steve recommends. It is on my to buy list one day. Been awaiting a long deserved vaction to pick it up to read.
I approach XML files pretty much like I do any text file I am sent in that I will import or copy/paste a text file into a frame in ID and begin setting my styles. With XML, though, I first clean it up, move closing tags up to their logical close lines, remove spurious codes that mean something in HTML but don't necessarily belong in the XML file (like &#x2019 which is an apostrophe so I do a search and replace. But for which is a non-breaking space I simply search and replace with a regular space in general), and make sure the XML validates.
Validation is much like making sure an HTML page is formed properly. I use an XML editor (XML BluePrint) and a text editor (UltraEdit) for these tasks. If I had to only have one or the other, I suppose the XML editor is what I would use.
I always show the import options when I import the XML and make sure that I link to the file.
So once a sample of the XML is on a page in ID (via File | Import XML), I highlight text within a tag, say like in your example above, the Providor name, and make it like I want and then create a new style. I generally name the styles as per the XML tag. Later on, that makes mapping tags to styles a little easier.
Once I set up all the styles preliminarily, I map the tags to styles. You can do that either via the Tags palette or via the Structure Pane that will appear once the XML is imported. In both cases, it is found via the flyout menu at the top right of their respective windows.
After mapping my styles to the tags, I select the root element in the Structure Pane (the topmost element. In your sample above it is "providors" and delete it. This removes the XML in your ID file. But the styles and tags are still present.
Then I import the XML again and look to makes sure all the tags/elements are styled as intended. I then correct any errors/ommissions. Then...I'll delete the XML again and import the full XML file.
I can upload what I did with your XML sample above so you can compare it to your source file if you would like. You would then see how/where I moved tags. Now, moving the tags is only "necessary" to avoid all the extra blank paragraphs. That can be accomplished by ID's search/replace, too. But I like to start out with the XML cleaned up, so I take the few minutes to do it.
Take care, Mike

• Can't import XML schema with ref to external namespace

In TopLink 10.1.3 Dev Preview 3 (build 041116), I have 2 simple schema files. One defines an element as a ref to an element in the other schema, so the ref points to an element in an external namespace. TopLink won't import this schema.
First schema, imports fine:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xs:schema
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
targetNamespace="http://www.oracle.com/employee"
xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/employee"
elementFormDefault="qualified"
attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
<xs:element name="employee">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="name" type="xs:string"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:schema>
Second schema, fails import with "ERROR: null. Please check to ensure the document conforms to the XML Schema specification and try again":
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xs:schema
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
targetNamespace="http://www.oracle.com/department"
xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/department"
xmlns:employee="http://www.oracle.com/employee"
elementFormDefault="qualified"
attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
<xs:import
namespace="http://www.oracle.com/employee"
schemaLocation="employee.xsd"/>
<xs:element name="department">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element ref="employee:employee"         maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:schema>
Both schemas are valid according to the W3C schema validation checker at http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv.
I can work around the issue by putting the employee definitions into the department schema file so that all elements are in the same namespace. But I would like the schemas to be in separate files for better modularity and maintainability.
Am I doing something wrong? I would really like to be able to use references to external namespaces in my element definitions.
Thanks,
Dave

Hello David,
Apologies, but this is a bug in DP3 with respect to references to elements in imported namespaces. This has been fixed in current code, but until you get that, there are a couple ways to work around it:
==========================================================
1) Use an include rather than an import.
department.xsd
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xs:schema
targetNamespace="http://www.oracle.com/department"
xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/department"
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
elementFormDefault="qualified"
attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
<xs:include schemaLocation="employee.xsd"/>
<xs:element name="department">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element ref="employee" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:schema>employee.xsd
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xs:schema
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
targetNamespace="http://www.oracle.com/department"
xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/department"
elementFormDefault="qualified"
attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
<xs:element name="employee">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="name" type="xs:string"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:schema>You should only have to import the parent schema (i.e. department.xsd), as the included document will automatically be built in. Note that this works for imports as well, provided that there aren't nasty bugs blocking the process.
==========================================================
2. Build everything into the same document
department.xsd
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xs:schema
targetNamespace="http://www.oracle.com/department"
xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/department"
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
elementFormDefault="qualified"
attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
<xs:element name="department">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element ref="employee" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
<xs:element name="employee">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="name" type="xs:string"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:schema>Obviously, this one won't work quite as well in some cases.
==========================================================
Until you can get to the latest code, I hope this helps some.

• Resolve xml namespace while importing xml schema

Hi All,
I am using ALSB 2.6 on windows platform. I have created a xml schema resource in a project folder. XML schema resource location is "/ANUP/TEST/SCHEMA". The target namespace for this schema is "http://test/schema/audit/properties.xsd". The XML schema file name is Properties.xsd.
I want to import this schema structure into an xquery which is the in project folder "/ANUP/TEST". My statement in xquery is:
xquery version "1.0";
import schema namespace ns6="http://test/schema/audit/properties.xsd" at "/ANUP/TEST/SCHEMA/Properties.xsd";
declare function getCustomer() as element(ns6:dummyParent){
let $anup := "anup"
return <ns6:dummyParent>
<ns6:dummy1>anup</ns6:dummy1>
<ns6:dummy2>tripathi</ns6:dummy2 >
<ns6:dummy3>anup</ns6:dummy3>
</ns6:dummyParent>
getCustomer()
When I try to save this xquery, I get the error ::
An error occurred compiling the XQuery resource: line ##, column ##: {err}FODC0002: Error retrieving resource "/ANUP/TEST/SCHEMA/Properties.xsd": {1}.
I tried to change the values instead of "/ANUP/TEST/SCHEMA/Properties.xsd" in import schema namespace statement and found out that if I put Properties.xsd in "C:\ANUP\TEST\SCHEMA", it works.
Can somebody tell me how can I change this clause after "at" keyword so that I can browse to the XMl schema which has been imported into ALSB and part of project folder?
Thanks:
Anup

I have the same is issue in Oracle OSB 11g. Does anyone have any idea how to import an xml-schema inside an XQuery, when the schema is present in the OSB-project (and not on filesystem or hosted on some URL).
import schema namespace ns="http://someNamespace.com" at "/path/to/schema/in/OSB/schema.xsd";
The above format gives the error "An error occurred compiling the XQuery resource: line ##, column ##: {err}FODC0002: Error retrieving resource"

Dear All,
I have a scenario like,
I am receiving a XML file from a 3rd party application for the daily Creation,Update of Item Master,BP Master, Marketing Documents. Hy folks,
I´m frim Brasil and I've been studying the tool EFM (Eletronic File Manager) to learn more about it!
There I saw that we can extract to XML "any" infomation from the database we want, mainly through the GEP.
However, as I've seen, this Add-On can not import any XML file into SBO, unless for the BFP wich can be imported in conjunction with the BTHF Add-on.
So I ask: how is it possible to import XML data into SBO database? Is it possible to be done through the EFM? or it´s really necessary to write a code specifically to do that?
Besides, I know that de B1iSN fit to this necessity... but when I tried to use it, by the custom "object" for BP, for example, there are some data wich the mapping conteined in this custom "process" that can not be imported... I tried to understand how to map those other fields not imported by the custom but this has been dificult to me as I am a implementation consultant focused in administrative process not on development...
Could you please help me with this subject!
Thanks a lot,
Denis

The error that” Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "XYZ" returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.".” is generally error message, and the error indicates
that there is data type mismatch issue between the input columns and the output columns.
Based on your description, the issue is that you trying to convert a column contains empty value from string to integer data type for the output column "XYZ" in Flat File Source [1]. Please note that we cannot type an empty value as integer data
type column value, so the error occurs.
To fix this issue, just as you did, we should convert the data type for the output column "XYZ" in Flat File Source [1] back to DT_WSTR or DT_STR, then use a derived column task to replace the current column (UBPKE542). But the expression should
be like below:
LEN(TRIM(UBPKE542)) > 0 ? (DT_I8)UBPKE542 : NULL(DT_I8)
In this way, the data type of the column in SQL table would be int, and the empty value would be replaced with NULL.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks,

i select file> import > data dictionary
then created a connection to db and selected some tables and got the er digram successfully
then i goto file > export>to data modeling design and save it to xml file
but when i give this file to another developer and he imported the file File>import>data modeling design
the digram is not displayed
is it a bug or im doing something wrong

ok it was my fault
it's not the xml only
there is a folder with the same name bside the xml file and should be included within the exchange

• FK across schemas in Data Modeling

Hello,
how can I create a foreign key across schemas in SQL Developer Data Modeling? Must both tables be on the same relational model? Otherwise I cannot create the relation because both tables must be displayed on the same diagram in order to draw a FK relation between them. Or is there another way? If not, then this is very inconvenient as I must include all the tables from different schemas in one relational model.
TIA,
Peter

Peter,
Yes you need all the tables in one and the same relational diagram.
However you can use the SUBVIEW facility.
When you import one or more schemas from a catalog one global relational model will be created and one subview per subschema. You can create the foreign key on the main relational diagram or you can drag and drop the table you want the foreign key with on the subview and create the relation there. A subview and a main view are always kept in sync.
When you have created your own main relational diagram you can create one or more subviews yourself. To populate a subview you can drag and drop tables to it or you can use the "select neighbors" facility (click right on table) and then use "create subview from selected". You can also do a multiple select on the diagram (hold shift key) and create a subview from selected.
