Rules in mail not automatic working?

Hi,
I have made 2 and 2 rules for one account.
First rule: From Account XXX copy incoming mails older than 30 days to Archive incoming
Second rule: From Account XXX copy sent mails older than 30 days to Archive sent
Third rule: From Account XXX delete incoming mails older than 50 days
Fourth rule: From Account XXX delete sent mails older than 50 days
The reason for the first two rules to be 30 and the seconds to be 50... I just want to have time beetween, because I am not sure, if the computer is not used for holidays and long off, which rule is worked and used first.
None of the rules are working (yes the checkbox is checked in the rules windows and yes when the rule was made it was applied to the box).
The rules seem to work only when I select all mails from box xxx and with the right mouse say "Apply rules"... (have to to this on the incoming/and sent box).
Did I miss something why this is not working automatically every day?

Rules only work automatically on the inbox when mail arrives.
No email will be older than 30 days when it arrives, so the rule never triggers.
You can run those rules manually.

Junk mail not automatically moved to Junk folder

Hello.
I'm using an IMAP account and have configured Mail to move junk mail to the chosen junk mail folder (junk is not filtered on the server but on my client). Since the junk mail filter is still learning sometimes junk mail is not detected and still goes to the inbox. That's okay.
If I then select that message it is somehow miraculously detected and marked as junk. However, it is not automatically moved to the junk folder but remains in the inbox marked as junk?
Is this desired behaviour? Why is the mail not automatically moved to the junk folder, like it is when I manually mark a mail as junk?

I just happened to notice that even mail that is automatically marked as spam/junk remains in my inbox. So I open the inbox folder and there is message that is marked as junk. Only when I manually reset and set the junk status is the message moved to the junk folder.
This seems to be the case in an IMAP acount where all folders (sent, drafts, spam, etc.) are subfolders of the actual inbox folder.
Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour?

Rules in Mail not being applied after Mavericks update

Hi everyone, I know there are a lot of threads already discussing similar issues, but so far I've been unable to find one that helps resolve my particular issue. Ever since upgrading to Mavericks my rules are not being applied in Mail. I will give you a screenshot of one of my rules:
I have about five rules that follow the same pattern: search for particular string in the FROM field and mark it with a color if the string is present. These rules all worked fine in Snow Leopard. All of my rules are still present after the upgrade and all checked as active. When I "select all" messages in my inbox and press Option-Cmd-L the rules are applied properly. However, the rules are not applying themselves when new mail comes in. As far as I can tell this does not have anything to do with the mail not being recognizes “as a new message” like, for example, because the mail was already read on my phone. It happens even if my other devices are offline and the only thing I am using to check mail is my laptop.
I am using a MacBook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core Duo with OS X 10.9.1, in case that matters.

I think I've found at least a partial solution to the Mail - Rules Don't Work problem:
In "Mail" go to the menu Mailbox and click on Rebuild.
If you have a lot of stuff, this will take several minutes to finish.
I also reviewed all my rules and made a few minor changes.
Mixed results: I found that running "Apply Rules" didn't work on email already received; but new mail did. I don't quite understand that, but I call it a partial success.

Microsoft Exchange Apple Mail not automatic

While use Microsoft Exchange for gmail my Apple Email address mail server will not sync automatic.
If I not choice Microsoft Exchange so my Apple Email Mail Service will sync automatic?
Am I right?

Same problem here.
I found a workaround that seemed to work for me:
- Delete Office 365 Exchange Account
- Go into ~/Library/Mail and delete the folders associated with your Exchange account, empty trash.
- Follow these directions to force re-index mail for your other accounts:

- Quit, restart
- Add account again
- Give it enough time to download all emails/attachments

Settlement rule for AUC not automatically generated

Hi Experts,
I am working on a capital project scenario where I have configured the investment profile and assigned this to the project profile. I have also configured the settlement profile and allocation structure for settlement to FXA.
On release of the WBS element the AUC is automatically created.
I have posted costs to the WBS element.
When I run settlement in test mode, using CJ88 the details show the sender as the WBS element and the reciever as the AUC, and the amount = the cost posted to the WBS element in the posting period, (as expected)
However, (now my problem)
When I run settlement in "update" mode the settlement shows 1 settlement however when I drill down to see the sender or reciever details are blank. There are alno no accouting documents and a settlement rule does not display for the WBS element. There are no error messages even though the settlement has not taken effect.
Please can anyone advise on the possible cause of this error. One further point the document type on the settlement profile is configured as "SA" GL Account Document.

Go to Settlement rule (CJ02),where enter the WBS .here go to Extra in the menu bar of that WBS ,under Asset under construction ckeck the box of Historiy....something like that .

Get mail not always working (displaying horizontal S)

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been raised before.
Am trying to figure out an intermittent issue with Mail. My mails are working but sometimes it failed to get new emails and will display a squiggly line (horizontal S) next to the individual mailbox. clicking on the "all refresh" doesn't work and I have to right click on the invidual account and refresh the mailbox specifically.
I've had this issue with Snow Leopard as wll, and now it is still in Lion. Occuring on MBP and MBA. (Gmail and POP accounts)
Does anyone know why it does that and how to fix it?

Why is Mail not automatically downloading emails?

I have set prefs to download mail every minute or every 5 minutes and neither is happening unless I am sitting at the computer. If it is assleep - I am out for the day - the mail that comes in on my iPhone never downbloads until I click "get mail" on the desktop - makes it hard to delete any messages when I am away from home because I never klnow if it has downloaded at home.Comcast uses POP accounts and says it is an Apple problem. Anybody else finding this issue?

Apple Mail not fully working after Mac OSX 10.5.7 update

Since I have updated to Mac SOX 10.5.7 I don't get all of my email. I have 5 separate email accounts with my internet service provider (Cox) that are all with the same email service but when I go to check my email I only receive email messages from 4 of the 5 email accounts. I have sent test emails to each account but I don't receive the test email on one of the accounts and that is the one I use the most. This started to happen after I downloaded the update. Very strange..... Anyone out there having this same problem?????? These are POP email accounts.

Now this is weird. When I went into Apple Mail preferences and unchecked the SSL box in ADVANCED then all of my emails came through fine and even my test messages to that email account. Perhaps that is the issue. Do I need to use SSL and what is it????

Hyper links not automatically working

How do I get a URL link I copy and paste in Yahoo email to work like it does in IE so people can click on it to go to the website?
I have have just started using Firefox previously having used IE. When I type an email using my Yahoo account in IE, if I copy and paste a URL the link changes so that it can be clicked on to go to the website. When I copy and paste a URL whilst using Firefox it doesn't change to a link. Is there a setting I can alter so it will do this?

Just above the textarea that you use to enter the message text there is usually a button bar with buttons to add text formatting like Bold and Italic.<br />
That toolbar may also have a button to turn a text link into a clickable hyperlink (look for a chain like button).<br />
You can select the text and click that button to turn the link into a clickable hyperlink.<br />
If you can't find the button then hover them all to check the tooltip of each.<br />

Automator not Automatically working!

This will probably be an easy question to answer.
I am using leopard to create an automator workflow.
The workflow is to move files from directory A to directory B . The workflow runs perfectly when I manually execute it, but when I assign it as a plugin for a folder action it doesn't automatically run.
What I want it to do is move the files automatically when new files are added to that directory.
I have assigned the plugin to the A directory but it doesn't move files when they are placed in it.
Please help!

without seeing the exact workflow it's impossible to say what's wrong with it. I can add, however, that several automator actions are broken in leopard when used as plugins rather than being run from the automator. You may have found one of those.
Regardless, the easiest way to automatically move files added to directory A to directory B is by attaching a folder action to directory A.
This folder action is achieved by a very simple apple script:
on adding folder items to this_folder after receiving added_items
tell application "Finder"
repeat with this_item in added_items
move this_item to folder "B" of startup disk
end repeat
end tell
end adding folder items to
If you attach the above to folder A, any file added to that folder will be automatically moved to folder B of your main HD. Adjust that as needed.

Rules in Mail are not working!!

I set up rules in mail to moved messages after 7 days old from date send and will not apply! not working! if this can help I am using an AOL account. . . any suggestions on how to solve this issue. I am also running SL . . thanks.

Don't set a 'rule' - go to Mail preferences/general/advanced and do it there √ instead.

After re-creating all of the 30 some rules I used in Snow Leopard in Mail in Lion, I discovered that many of them were not working properly.
The rules that specified relatively simple criteria to match, such as specific strings to search for in the From, To, Subject fields, were working OK.
The rules that weren't working properly were the ones for Apple Developer mailing lists, in which I look for a string value in the custom List-Id header. For example, if the List-Id of the email contains cocoa-dev.lists.apple.comcocoa-dev.lists.apple.com, move it to such-and-such a mailbox. I noticed after I added the custom header field to the list of rule headers (by using the Edit Header List… command), that List-Id was sometimes changed to just plain List. After quitting mail and looking at the saved version of Mail's rules (in the file /Users/<username>/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/MessageRules.plist), I found that Mail was saving the rules as List rather than the proper custom header of List-Id. As a result, the rules appeared not to work because, obviously, there was no List header value. After editing the MessageRules.plist manually with Property List Editor, and replacing List with List-Id, all of the rules started working properly.
Just wondering what types of rules you guys had and whether it might be the same inability to save headers with a - in them.

Add Rule in Mac Mail Not Working

I tried to add a rule in Mac Mail, so that when a particular sender send me a mail, I wanted to forward to another person. I recalled I did setup some rule but thatwas long time ago. Now I click Add Rule, the system remains the same, no popup whatsoever.

Rules: can Mail move messages if they are 'X days old'? Seems not!

I set up a bunch of rules on Mail, to move messages that were sent from certain people and that had been in my Inbox for a certain minimum period of time into special folders so as to automate the cleanup of my Inbox to some degree.
For example, the rule for messages from my work is as follows.
If ALL the following conditions are met:
From Contains (name of company mail server)
Date Received Is Greater Than 3 Days Old
Perform the following actions:
Move Message to mailbox Work
Right, so this works the first time I write it, and never again after that. I would have thought that whilever the rule was active, if Mail ever detected that there were messages from work that had been sent more than 3 days ago, it would automatically move them, but it doesn't. Since setting the rule up months ago it only ever worked the first time I wrote it and it asked if I wanted to apply it.
What am I doing wrong? Or is what I'm asking for not actually possible with the rules?

rules are applied 1: when mail is received, 2: (optionally) when the rule is first set up, and 3: if messages are selected & the 'apply rules' menu command chosen.
to apply rules to messages you’ve already received, select the messages in the viewer window and then choose Message > Apply Rules.
A smart mailbox will evaluate constantly, although I appreciate that's not the same thing.

Mail hyperlinks open in safari, but screen is not automatically moving from mail to safari, only manually

i'm facing already for some time an issue that i can get solved unfortunately.
After OS update towards mountian lion (i believe, but not sure), a hyperlink in an email is opened in Safari, but my screen is not automatically swapping towards safari from mail. Not if i'm working on the desktop, nor working in full screen mode. I need to move manually to the other screen, to see the webpage opening.
In the past it was working, but I can't find the settings to get this solved. Today I've update to Yosemite, and it didn't solve this for me.
Who can help me? It is really appreciated
