Run a report without opening application

I need a report to be run daily but i do not want the Crystal Report XI to open to allow any editing to the report. I understand that CR viewer can open saved reports but i need the report to be refreshed daily.

Not sure how you can setup non editing option in the report however, I have read this article right from the help file of Crystal Reports which might help you.
Refresh Report Data command
Use the Refresh Report Data command to retrieve fresh data for your report when you display it in the Preview Tab.
When you refresh a report that doesn't have saved data, Crystal Reports retrieves data from the database; otherwise, the program discards the report's saved data and retrieves new data.
Note: Refreshing a report's data does not necessarily refresh a subreport's data at the same time. Crystal Reports generates subreport data only when the subreport is encountered. For example, if a subreport is located on the second page of your report, the data for that subreport is not retrieved until you view the second page.
By design, Crystal Reports only retrieves data when necessary. When you preview your report in the Preview tab, print the report, or export it to a file, the program runs your report and retrieves the required data. Once you are working with the data in the Preview tab, the program will run the report again and retrieve fresh data if you:
Add fields to the report after the report was run.
Add a formula that references a field that was not in the report when you ran it the first time.
Expand your record selection criteria to include more records than were needed when you first ran the report.
Aside from these circumstances, the program will not automatically refresh a report.
However, there may be times when you want to retrieve new data for the report. For example, you may have created a report several days earlier and you want to see it run with the most current data.
The Refresh Report Data command is intended for times such as this.

I'll explain you what my requirement is,
My final goal is to run the Indesign application(including my plugin) in a server & put all indd files in to a location(ex.folder) &
once an indd file comes to that folder it'll be automatically read by Indesign application & save the extracted data in a separate location(ex.another folder) as tex files. then human interaction is not needed...
My precsent problem is,
Can I read an indd file, without opening indd file in Indesign application (may be giving a path to a indd files included folder or some way like that).
Currently,
first i open the Indesign Application -> Open the indd file(intended to be read) -> Run my plugin.
Now I Get the document with,
IDocument* document = Utils<ILayoutUIUtils>()->GetFrontDocument();
But what I want is,
while the Indesign application is running on a PC, if an indd file comes to a given location(folder) it to be read automaticaly without opening my pluging.
To do that My idea is,
* Any time when the Indesign apllication is opend my plugin should automatically start running,
* once a new file comes to a given location(folder) plugin shoud be automatically triggered & read the file.
Please help me with your ideas..

Run a report from an application

I don't know if this post belongs here or in the Reports forum. Anyway, any help with this will be muchly appreciated. I thought this task would be straightforward enough, but I'm having a whole lot of difficulty finding any instructions on it.
I have an application developed in JDeveloper using BC4J. And I want to be able to print reports from this application. It is a standalone program, i.e., not JSP. I have a number of reports I will want to run, and for now I have created the simplest one in Oracle Reports. How do I run this from my Java application? I would really rather not have to open a browser window or generate a PDF, but just print the thing immediately (or give the user a preview if desired).

Is there other alternative to run Oracle Reports if I don't have oracle report server?
Reason being I'm thinking of using Oracle10g iAS Standard Edition but this edition does not come with Oracle Report Server.
Is there anyway to run it? I need the report to be run through web browser and display as PDF.

Hyperion Reports Error when running a report against HFM application

Hi,
Trying to run a report that the source is a HFM app and get this error:
5200: Error executing query: ALE syntax error near: line number 1 position 137 token Period
Anyone know what might be the cause.. I have no idea as to what it could be. I'm not a Reports expert, mainly an Essbase person...

How to push a button, run a report, and open output in new windows?

I have an application where I want to present the user with a form, have them enter their report parameters, and then press a go button. I would then like to display a progress bar. The report will generate both a PDF and HTML output. When the report is complete, I want to display each one of these outputs in their own browser window.
How do I do this?

You want to retrieve two responses? Then you'll have to invoke two requests simultaneously. You can make this possible with a Javascript window.open call in the onclick attribute of the commandButton. E.g.

Applescript to run terminal command then open application..

I've installed the add-on to make the Lion Finder sidebar icons colored again, but whenever I reboot my Mac, I have to execute a killall Finder to get those icons back. This also closes TotalFinder, which is an addon I use. So, I want to write an AppleScript which will run on startup, and do those two things: run the Terminal command, and then open TotalFinder.
I've written:
tell application "Terminal"
    activate
    do script "killall Finder" in front window
    quit
end tell
tell application "TotalFinder"
    activate
end tell
This gives me an error stating "Connection is invalid." when running the activate line for TotalFinder. The Terminal command is executed correctly. Any idea why this is? The application is definitely named correctly, its just in my root Applications directory so it should be able to find it, etc. How can I get this working?

First thing you don't need to open a terminal window to do the killall you can just do to as a shell script.
Second don't know why TotalFinder gives that message about Connection invalid but it doesn;t seem to affect it any. So putting in the try just eats the error message.
Ypu may not even need the killall, When TotalFinder starts it restarts the Finder so you may be able to remove the killall

Running Oracle Reports from JSF Application in Websphere Application Server

in our company we are developing jsf applications and we want to use our existing Oracle reports. Reports are deployed in Oracle Application Server 10G. Is there a way to call those reports from our jsf applications deployed in websphere application server.

Calling reports is just constructing and submitting a URL. So constuct the url in your jsf app or create static hyperlinks in your jsf app to go to the needed url. The url should look something like:
http ://hostname:7777/reports/rwservlet?report=myrep.jsp&userid=scott/tiger@dev10g&desformat=html&destype=cache

Load Security without Opening Application

Hi All,
I am trying to copy an application from an old 11.1.1.3 environment to a new 11.1.2.1 environment. Unfortunately the Security in my old environment has AD's I will not reference in my new environment. Here are the steps I've taken thus far:
1. I created a new application in the new environment.
2. I then took an extract of security and metadata from the old environment and modified the security file to have the correct AD names from my new environment. After these edits, both files loaded successfully and I was able to open my application.
3. I ran the CopyApp utility to grab everything from the old environment to copy into the new environment.
4. After the CopyApp utility ran successfully, I could no longer open my application and I believe it is due to the security being copied over.
Is it possible to just clear out security within the application and load the file I need? I just need to clear out the user/roles section essentially so I can open up the application. Or is my only option to re-build my application by manually extracting all data and loading it scenario by scenario and year by year because I don't have EPM Maestro to help me out?

I tried that approach and it failed because as soon as it tries to open up the application on the app server it bombs out. I'm currently trying to use the Data only option within CopyApp and that appears to have made some progress for me but because it only copies the data tables, my data isn't consolidated or locked after the copy job is complete. Or is it not locked because I specified the scenarios and years? This I'm not sure of.

Error while running Crystal Reports from application

Hi,
I am getting the below error when I try to run Crystal Reports from my application.
There are no Page Servers connected to the Cache Server or all connected Page Servers are disabled or all connected Page Servers are not part of the specified server group. Please try to reconnect later.
I am able to preview the reports in CMC and Infoview, but when I try to run the same report via my application the above error pops up.
Sometimes I get a different error:
The Page Server you are trying to connect to is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator.
Looks like some configuration settings are missing/ corrupted.
I tried to look in a number of websites... tried few workarounds, but none seems to be working.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Run after effects script without opening after effects?

I have a project as a template. I want to run a script that injects itself with the project and replaces videos and text depending on the contents of my script file. So far so good, but can I run the script without opening after effects GUI? I use this now: afterfx -r c:\script_path\example_script.jsx. Is it considered best practice to have after effects GUI up and running if going to do many script changes on the template? Basically I am looking for the same functionality as aerender with no GUI.

To my knowledge scripts cannot change projects without the program actually running. Scripts merely call reflections of the internal commands which only are available when the program runs in full. Perhaps some of that has changed in AE CC, but I'm not aware of it.

Oracle r12.1 - Material Account Distribution Detail report not opening in Excel

Hello,
We have a requirement to open Material Account Distribution Detail Report to transfer the output to MS Excel when user clicks the "View Output" window. Below is the setup. And I have verified over and over that setup is correct. Still, for some reason, concurrent program output is dumped in XML format on the browser window! What is causing this and why? What am I missing?

Hi Abdul,
Before running the report select the particular "inventory organization" and then run the report.
It seems you were directly running the report without selecting the Inv org.
