Run a script after a package is updated?

Is it possible to run a script after a package is updated? I have Anki use a custom config folder (~/.anki instead of the default ~/Anki) and every time Anki updates it reverts back to the default folder. It's not such a burden to make a script that fixes this and run it manually after every update, but it would be nice if it worked automatically. So is there any way to monitor what pacman updates and run a script after it updates a certain package?

If you're modifying a config file to change this, and pacman is overwriting it, consider adding the config file to pacman's NoUpgrade array in pacman.conf (man pacman.conf for details). If you feel that lots of people would benefit from this file being exempt from the upgrade process, file a bug report/feature request, and the maintainer may make the change in the package itself.

  • Run a Script after the MA is published to SAP ERP.

Hello, I'm trying to run a script after the MA is published, in order to automatically change it's status.
I already have the script done and working, the only problem is that I need to know where to put it (or what type of script it should be) in order to run after the MA  has been published successfully.
    Thanks in advance !
    Oscar Obeso.

That is also a good solution.
But what I did to fix it was to make a Script to run on validation.
Then, on that phase I checked the date of sent to external. If that date was null, it meant that Agreement had never been published.
Otherwise, it meant i had been published, and so I checked for the status to change it if neccesary.
Thanks for the answers, they are valid solutions too.

  • My mbp (mid 2010) is running extremely slow after installing some mavericks updates on May 22nd.

My mbp (mid 2010) is running extremely slow after installing some mavericks updates on May 22nd. Earlier I thought this behavior is due to spotlight indexing but it finished after 3 days. I deleted all caches from library. But no luck, still running extremely slow. I checked activity monitor for cpu usage, it shows above 90% is idle. The memory usage always shows PM - 4 GB, Memory Used 3.96 GB, VM - 4 GB, Swaped used 0 bytes, App Memory 1.82 GB, File Cache 1.44 GB, Wired Memory 480 MB.
    Thanks in adavnce for help.

Was it the combo updater that was installed or the OS X 10.9.3 update. There is a difference.
MORE INFO ON WHY RUNNING COMBO FIXES ISSUES
Apple updates available from the Software Update application are incremental updates. Delta updates are also incremental updates and are available from Apple Downloads (software updates are generally smaller than delta updates). The Combo updates contain all incremental updates and will update files that could have become corrupted.
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need to roll back or do a clean install. So if you think you've got a borked 10.8.4 install from a regular update, just run the 10.8.4 Combo Updater on that system.
"Delta" updaters can only take you from one version to the next. For example: 10.9.1 to 10.9.2. If somehow the 10.9.2 is missing something it should have, and that something isn't changed between 10.9.1 and 10.9.2 it will still be stale after the delta update.

  • Macbook Pro running slow/(crawling) after 10.9.4 update

I paste in information on the system from EtreCheck below.
The Macbook is really crawling very slowly.
It may be a coincidence, but happened when I restarted after the latest software update 1st july from OSX 10.9.3 to OSX 10.9.4
Regarding How does it behave/How slow:?
Now, every task that may require the use of resources not recently used (menus, lists etc.) will take exceedingly long time. For example after the desktop appears with the top menu, it will take 3-4 min before any menus can be pulled down, same with dock, 3-4 min to show up. Clicking an app, 3-4 min before launches. Then after launched, some apps may run OK, for example Logic Pro.
When working in the Finder. Opening a folder may take 3-4 min, before the the file list shows. Then selecting a file - takes a minute before it gets hi-lighted. But is then fast to drag to an open folder on the backup drive. Copying a folder to a backup drive, is also fast.
Another example: It took two hours from logging in at this Forum, until getting here to post.!! (I'll read answers from another machine)
    What I have done:
I have backed up with Time Machine,, in addition to manually backing up files.
I have ran Disk Utility and it reports the hard  disk is OK. I have ran fix permission, only two were fixed. No difference.
I have reset the System Management Controller (SMC). No difference.
It is not a network problem, My network is fast and smooth with other devices,
I don't want to change hard drive 'just in case'. It fast to restore files from the backup. However
I  have many licences apps and contents which will take several weeks to restore.  I've done that before.
Is it likely that it is the hard disk that is failing without disk utility having a clue?

You ask some  (5) questions regarding the output of Etrecheck
Re #4 :"Have you tried uninstalling the fastestyoutubedownloader.com user launch agent, in case that’s causing a problem?"
Yes, now I have.  Now it takes 40 min. from powerup to the login screen.!
My system report  showed as I posted, before the removal:
    "User Launch Agents:
      [failed] com.fastestyoutubedownloader.TrialExpired.GoldFreeFirstWeek.plist"
I am ignorant about the matter.  I too was surprised to find that item and the conspiracy deamon on my left shoulder had wild thoughts.
The app that generated the Launch Agent must have been FastestYouTubeDownloader.app,
It was downloaded as an app and no uninstaller. I think it was supposed to run fast  the first week, and if you paid for it(upgrade license), it would remain fast or else work slowly. I tried it on one file and then threw it in the trash, as I would have no more use for it. But a nagging/promo dialog telling me the trial period was over came up 1st july, while the nagging came up I was notified (by appstore) that a new update of my system required a restart. I pressed that, my system was updated to 10.9.4 and after the update everything was slow. So the conspiracy deamon was whispering that maybe the app had made everything slow, by mistake, and not just the FastestYouTubeDownloader.
    I really don't think so.
But I think the developers have to leave a mark somewhere to tell them that I have tried the software and maybe they have chosen the User Launch Agent for this?  Then trying to remove it may just cause more problems, since it is not anything I should be able to do for obvious reasons.
I couldnt see what it was really doing from its content, it seems to me it should do nothing if the application was not found.
    Re # 1 and #2
I have had these drivers all the time and not experienced problems with earlier versions of Mavericks.
Also, the ZOOM and the GR-55 is not connected.
Both had at least their own kernel-extension, a launch agent and a preference panel, but possibly more.
But I have now tried the Uninstaller that accompanies the GR-55 driver  to remove it.  It gave no improvements.
    Re # 5
I have apperently two Flash Players, both have the same version number, one is outdated.?
Probably not good, but probably not my main problem(s).? I'm not using Flash often.
    Re # 3
I have no idea, what the following listing
    Launch Agents:
      [invalid] entries
may refer to. In my HD/Library/LaunchAgents folder I only have
"com.zoom.R16DeviceManager.plist" the other entry in the report with same file name with added extension  ".svn-base" I have no idea where is coming from.
I think this is not my primary problem though? even if  I am curious where it comes from.
    My Conclusions
Obviously with a boot time of more than 45 min  doing diagosics and tests takes long time.
The Disk Utility verifies the disk as OK.   Onyx verifies the disk as OK (mabe the same test?).
I think my maachine is just getting worse.  There must be a serious problem, not  just a fine tuning issue.
The conspiracy deamon on my other sholder tells me that Apple have decided its time for me to buy a new computer again :-) ,It  would have been a good idea if not for the pain of  reinstalling licensed software which will require a 2 week vacaition doing nothing but restoring, Possibly having to purchase new licences costing more than the computer.

  • How to run a script after resume from disk in pm-utils

When I use pm-hibernate, I have a few scripts that I would like to run upon de-thawing. At the moment, all I want to do is module-related: I want to remove the pcskpr mod (which I have blacklisted in my rc.conf MODULES array, but HAL loads it upon thawing) and reprobe the ath9k mod (wireless doesn't work until I modprobe it).
I see that you can insert your own hooks for pm-utils, but when are they run? I need my script to run after HAL has its way with my module-probing/loading and I'm not getting a clear impression that this is the case. If not, then what other options exist?

    tomk wrote:
Arch wiki wrote:The hooks in this directory will be called in alphabetic order during suspend (that's the reason their names all start with 2 digits, to make the ordering explicit) and in the reverse order during resume.
That seems clear to me. What else are you looking for?
But pm-hibernate does some of its own work for hibernation/thawing. I'd like to know where in relation to *that* the hooks are run. Ie, during hibernation, are they run before or after the vanilla pm-hibernate functionality?

  • Automaticly run Program\Script After and MSI Installation

    Hi All,
Today I started looking into the use of Application Model in SCCM 2012.
It was easy to create an application by using the import MSI function, which automatically created the application, deployment type and detection rule. But I'm struggling with how to run a script afterwards, when the MSI installation was successful.
I've looked into creating 2nd deployment type making the first deployment type as it's dependency, but it's mandatory that I also need to make an detection rule. And this is where I'm stuck ass the detection rule I want to have the same as
for the first deployment type which will make it impossible to run because the condition will be evaluated ass already installed.
Is there a way to avoid the detection rule? If not is if possible trigger something after the first deployment type based on the errorlevel after the MSI installation.
My goal is to write a regkey  somewhere in HKLM\Software\<company name> after an successful installation of an application. This location we've included in our hardware inventory for reporting purposes.
Any suggestions to achieve this goal are welcome .
    Regards,
    Daniel

I've resolved it with using the AddDploymentTypebyMISInstallerAuto function from the Add-CMDeployment command and provided an InstallationProgram parameter to override the default InstallationProgram.
    The comman-line looks like
    Add-CMDeploymentType
    -ApplicationName <Name>
    -AutoIdentifyFromInstallationFile
    -ForceForUnknownPublisher $True `
    -InstallationFileLocation
    <MSI
    File> -MsiInstaller
    -DeploymentTypeName
    Test1 –InstallationBehaviorType InstallForSystem
    -InstallationProgram
    < Custom
    Script>
In this way I have the detection based on the MSI GUID and the ability to use a wrapper script.

  • MB won't run from battery after firmware 1.1 update

I know this post is similar to many others on this forum, but I have scoured the other entries and can't find one with my exact problem (or a solution). Sorry if this is a repeat.
My MB has worked fine since I bought it in July. After I installed the MacBook SMC Firmware Update v1.1, however, it randomly decided one day not to run off of the battery anymore. If I plug in the AC adapter, it will boot, run fine, and charge the battery (the menu indicates a 100% charge), but as soon as I unplug the AC adapter the entire system shuts off.
The problem is that I am living in China through July. After working at Apple for nearly 4 years, I was wise enough to purchase AppleCare ... but I can't exactly just hop in the car and take the machine to an Apple Store. Is there a solution for me? Because I'm traveling throughout China, my machine is essentially useless if it has to be plugged in. I'm going to be very upset if an Apple-recommended firmware update rendered my machine unusable.
All applications are up-to-date (OS 10.4.8, Build 8L2127, 2ghz Duo with 1gb RAM).
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I have a the same problem, at the Apple genious bar a different battery did not work, so they sent my computer in to the subcontractors in Memphis. They kept it less than 10 hours and sent it back with a new battery. The new battery worked for about one month. The funny thing is I am not getting an x on my battery icon anymore. Coconut battery says it is a good battery and is fully charged. I calibrated the battery the first thing when I got the unit back. The system profiler says the battery is present and charged, if the battery should go down just from sitting still, the power adapter will recharge the battery. But, The computer will not run on the battery. If the power adapter is unplugged, which happens about 50 times a day because of the magnetic attachment, the machine turns off. I too developed the probem only after downloading the firmware update that apple said I needed. It is clear from these posts that there is a problem between the motherboard and the battery, and maybe a problem with the battery's calibration software. Judging from the varied responses users have gotten from Apple, and the complete silence about the problem on the Apple support site, it is also clear that Apple either doesn't know what the problem is and therefore can't fix it, or Apple is trying to turn a blind eye to the problem hoping it will go away. These posts have been viewed over 100,000 times, this is not a small problem!

  • Where to running SQL Scripts after install of ODAC for Oracle Client?

I just installed ODAC for Oracle Client on a windows server, that runs a sql server database, for developers to connect a web app to an Oracle/Unix database. The install states to run SQL scripts located in the $ORACLE_HOME\ASP.NET\SQL directory after the install. I'm not sure where to run them? On the ORACLE DB on the Unix server? If someone could bring me up to speed I would appreciate it. Thanks.

If I do run the scripts, do you know what user they should be run as? The developer are using ASP.NET for connectivity.
Why there is no Oracle Expert answer this simple question? ?
After ODAC 11.1.0.7.20 installation completed, there is a message in the last screen:
*"Run the SQL script located in c:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1\ASP.NET\SQL directory for a new installation or an upgrade of Oracle Providers for ASP.NET"*
The question is: How to run these 9 SQL scripts ?
In SQL*Plus, which oracle user should I connect to in order to run these 9 scrips, including:
    InstallAllOracleASPNETProviders.sql
    InstallOracleASPNETCommon.sql
    InstallOracleMembership.sql
    InstallOraclePersonalization.sql
    InstallOracleProfile.sql
    InstallOracleRoles.sql
    InstallOracleSessionState.sql
    InstallOracleSiteMap.sql
    InstallOracleWebEvents.sql

  • IMac 27" running very slow after 10.6.6 update

After updating to the newest OSX build my iMac is running extremely slow. Boot times are the same but once I'm in OSX it takes twice as long to do anything. If I click on the systems icon it takes over 10 seconds to open. I attempted to verify my hard drive permissions and it shows an estimated time of over 4 hours. I'm at a lost as to what the **** happened. I've run several hardware diagnostics and it finds no problems. I also have boot camp installed and Windows 7 runs perfectly. Has anyone experienced something like this with the 10.6.6 build?

    Hi e-nun
I feel your pain am having exactly the same problems. I have been doing a few processes to try and see what will work. Here is what i have done to start..
    1. Boot the computer using the discs that came with the imac then load disk utility from that. Repair Disk Permissions.
    2. Clear the PRAM and the NVRAM
    3. Go to Spotlight preferences click on the Privacy Tab and drag your imac's HDD to that list. Wait for around 10-15secs then use the little minus button to remove it. Once you close the window Spotlight will start to re-index the HDD. You will notice the little dot inside the magnifying icon for spotlight.
As im writing this my Imac is currently re-indexing and fingers crossed its running better than after the update. Whilst its been reindexing i haven't had any slow down issues. Ill keep you posted...
Did you find anything else out??

  • Automatically run shell script after publishing?

Is there any way to automatically run a  shell script  after publishing?
I would like to do some postprocessing on the remote server.
The remote server is not mobileme,  so a tool like iwebenhancer  will not work.
I will appreciate all kinds of tips and tricks and suggestions.
    best regards, Gabriel.

So the Detect Change is to detect a change in the web page that the code is embedded, right?
The only workaround would be, if you can modify what's in the ChangeDetection window is to not automatically enter the page but put in a red note to enter the page you want to be notified about.
    So instead of this:
    You would have this:
where the visitor would have to copy and past the URL into the field.  Obviously not automatic. But might work if you can modify what is said in the window and not have the page automatically be entered.

  • System exception running Configuration Wizard after installing several security updates for SP

    Greetings,
Have a 2 server farm, SharePoint 2013 SP1, SQL and SharePoint. Windows Update has 15 updates downloaded and ready to install, 2 Server 2012 updates and 2 SharePoint updates, 11 Security Updates for SharePoint. So, I said yeah, go ahead and install them late
last night when I figured it wouldn't interrupt folks. (dumb move)
Windows Update took awhile, but no errors during the install. Rebooted the server as required. Once the server was back, jumped onto the server console and ran the Configuration Wizard to apply the updates to SharePoint. No problem, progressed through the
screens saying it was going to update, farm and sql information, etc. Config Wizard was going through the steps, then failed with the message: "Failed to register SharePoint services." and here's a link to the configuration log so have a jolly time
tracking it down, thank you very much.

So I've been searching around trying to find a clue about this. I tried using PSConfig as well, no dice. I tried using my admin account, the farm account, and the initial setup account, no dice. So I gave in about 3:00 AM and took a break, rather than have
my head hit the keyboard. Left IIS down and SP down. Had some help this morning when someone started things back up for me. sigh. So the users have been in on the sites and doing all sorts of important and critical things, so rolling back to the last
backup is the last, last resort. (Fortunately, I did do a manual backup using a PowerShell script before starting all this.)
    Help. Please.
The actual sites are up and seem to be working fine. Central Admin is down though, get a 500 Internal Server Error in the browser, so things aren't correct. Duh. The config wizard didn't finish.
    Thanks much,
    Steven

0x80131904 translates to COR_E_SqlException. Typically this will be an MDF/LDF file out of space, or the volume that those files reside on being out of space. Check that first, then also check the SQLERROR log file for any issues.

  • Macbook running like garbage after 10.10.3 update

So I have been running Yosemite on my 13inch MacBook from 2008 with no issue
until I did the recent 10.10.3 update two days ago. Since the update, my laptop
is not functioning properly and is running incredibly slow. It takes 20x longer
to load up after being shut off and safari will not open. After the update it
took almost 4 hours for the mouse spinning wheel to stop spinning. I have tried
all posted suggestions including running disk utility and ETRECHECK. I tried resetting
the PRAM, running in safemode and deleting the "com.Apple.Plist" document from my
    computer. Nothing has worked.
I even booked an Apple genius appointment and drove 60 minutes to the store.
The Staff was not helpful what so ever and there only suggestion was to buy a
new Macbook. My laptop worked flawlessly prior to the update and is now running
like complete garage. I am so mad right now. Any help would be appreciated.
Just ran Etrecheck prior to posting this and it states: Macintosh HD (disk0s2) / :499.25 GB (445.68 Free) - 21 errors
I updated my harddrive to a 500GB unit and my ram to 8gb about 1 1/2 years ago. I have had no issues until now

Make a backup first. You should have done that before upgrading. Repair the hard drive, which may be failing, by restarting into your recovery partition and running Disk Utility. Reset the SMC Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support Do the reset two or three times.

  • Why iTunes is running very slow after v10.6.1 update?

Once i update iTunes to version 10.6.1, it runs very very slow... almost to block OS X.
i wonder if iTunes is rebuilding the music library or what, because this is very unusual in apps or any OS X software.
thanks to all can help me in this question.

    Hello rcruzb -
I don't have enough information about your situation to really deep-dive with you into a sure fix, but I can at least tell you that I was experiencing similar slowness/freezing in iTunes after updating to 10.6 - and it wasn't fixed in 10.6.1.
I took some steps to isolate my issue, and you might consider taking those same steps (as they might yield a different result for you). Here's what I did to help isolate what caused my issue, along with the inevitable solution I found for me:
    - First, if you haven't done it recently, make sure your library is consolidated and organized automatically. You don't HAVE to do this, but it significantly improves performance in iTunes when the library is all in one spot and search indexing isn't spread all over the machine. Open iTunes, click iTunes (in your menubar), Preferences, Advanced, and ensure "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" are both checked. To consolidate and organize your library, you can select File (in your menubar), Library, Organize Library, then ensure that both "Consolidate Files" and "Reorganize files in the folder 'iTunes Media'" are checked (if the latter option is grayed out, it just means it's already setup properly that way). Depending on the size of your library, this can take some time.
    - Second, you can attempt to rebuild your iTunes Library. This is a simple process which essentially has you create a new library, then take all the content from the old library and pull it back in. This can remedy issues where the iTunes Library itself is bloated, corrupted, or simply trying to search through some broken threads and taking a long time. Rather than flush all of this out here, I'll refer you to the official Apple support document: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
    - Third, and this is what I determined fixed my issue: Turn off iTunes Match and/or Genius Mode. iTunes 10.5 had a known issue where the Genius Mode could become corrupt or would consume massive amounts of RAM, slowing iTunes to a crawl. iTunes Match actually enforces the use of Genius Mode - so I can't tell whether it's one or the other causing the freezing since they run together - so turning off iTunes Match turns off Genius Mode (but not the other way around). If you're using either of these services in iTunes, turn them off and relaunch iTunes. If your situation is anything like mine, you will see a dramatic improvement in the quality and responsiveness of iTunes. If you want to continue using iTunes Match, I'd recommend splitting up your iTunes into two libraries: one for music / iTunes Match / Genius, and one for TV Shows/Podcasts/Movies/Books/iOS syncing. To create a separate library, hold the Option key while clicking the iTunes app in your dock/finder/Launchpad and select "Create New Library". Save it somewhere and be sure to give it a distinctly different name so you don't get confused. Turn iTunes Match on in this new library and let it populate all your music, and use that library for music. When you want other media, hold option again when launching iTunes and say "Choose Library", then select the other.
I hope this helps! It completely, 100% resolved my issues with iTunes 10.6. I know it's not a sure-thing and may not be a universal solution for everyone, but hopefully the steps above at least give you some things to consider that may have resolve or at least narrow down what's happening. Best of luck.

  • I have OS10.6 and when I try to update I receive error message after validating packages and updates to not tke.

I have OS10.6 and when I try to upload updates I receive an error message when validating the packages. No updates take place.

Are you using Software Update? And what is the error message?
You are on 10.6.0? Why don't you download the combo updater for 10.6.8 directly from Apple and try to install it from there:

  • Running extremely slow after most recent software update. Would love some help troubleshooting and fixing, thank you!

Hi folks. Since my last software update, my computer has slowed to a near halt. Help!
    I have a late 2009 MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.8.2. 2.26 Ghz / 8 gb memory.
I went into the Disk Utility and ran "verify disk," and got an "ok." Verified and repaired disk permissions. No idea if they're relevant.
At this moment the activity monitor is showing 3.79 gb of free memory -- 10 minutes ago, when I was doing nothing particularly differently, it showed all 7.99 gb in use (active and inactive -- I have. No idea what this means.)
It's all beach balls around here, all the time. Any ideas?

Your problem is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory.
That can happen for two reasons:
You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination. In Activity Monitor, select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the  Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more memory over time without ever releasing it.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details:
