Runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst: error Unable to reach any of the nodes
Hii all,
Well, I've gone through the pre-reqs for trying to install 11G clusterware on RHEL 5.3.
I'm to the point where i'm trying to run:
./runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n node1 -verbose
I get this:
Performing pre-checks for cluster services setup
Checking node reachability...
Node reachability check failed from node "node1 ".
Check failed on nodes:

ERROR:
Unable to reach any of the nodes.
Verification cannot proceed.
Pre-check for cluster services setup was unsuccessful on all the nodes.
I'm just wanting right now, to install a one node RAC system (I will add servers later as I get them online).
I've verified that ssh is working (thinking it may be trying to connect to itself by ssh). I have the keys generated and installed...if I connect ssh as the oracle user back to the same machine, it gets me right on with no prompts for passwords.
nslookup on node1 looks great.
This box has 2 cards....eth0 and eth1. Right now in the /etc/hosts file, I have node1 to the IP for eth0, and node1-priv set for the IP address eth1.
I do have a little trouble understanding what the node1-vip is supposed to do or be set. I found the an IP address one higher than for eth0 wasn't being used, and set node1-vip to be that.
(Can someone explain to me a little more about the vip host?? Is it supposed to somehow point to node1's IP address on eth0 like the regular one does?)
Since this is a one box, one node install...hoping clusterware and checks are just looking at the /etc/hosts file. I've tried playing around, and setting node1-vip to be the same as node1 (IP)...that doesn't work either.
One thing I can guess 'might' be wrong. Does runcluvfy use "ping"? I found the oracle user cannot ping this box from this box. The box (node1) can be pinged from outside the box...it is registered on DNS, I can ssh into it no problem, and again, oracle can ssh into himself on same box with keys properly generated).
I've been looking around, and I just don't see much of what to look at to troubleshoot with this error, I guess everyone gets past the verification the first time with no host unreachable errors?
I'm a bit weak when it comes to networking. Any help greatly appreciated...suggestions, links...etc!!

Ok...looks like this was the problem. It appears the SA's, per newer policy, had turned off "ping" for any other user on the box besides root.
I took a shot in the dark, and had them turn it on (as that ssh'ing and other items to check seemed to work outside the runcluvfy script). They turned on ping. The nodes from the script are now reachable and test positive for equivalency.

I"m guessing that last line...was due to not having the clusterware running on any other boxes?
Anyway, will try to config. RAC, and get things installed.

1) there is user equivalence between the nodes for user grid
2) /tmp is read/writable by user grid on both nodes
3) Setting the CV_DESTLOC appears to do nothing - it seems to go back to wanting to write to /tmp
4) ./runcluvfy comp nodecon -n node1,node2-verbose succeeds no problem
And the weirdest thing of all, when I run ./runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n node1,node2 -verbose from node 2, it succeeds without errors.
What am I missing? And TIA..I made a copy of the runcluvfy.sh and commented out all rm -rf commands so that it would at least save the trace files. Re-ran, and the following trace output - not entirely helpful to me, but any gurus out there see anything?

Renderfarm error: Pre-Flight Error: Unable to import previously rendered file
I have an error message I am receiving during network rendering on a renderfarm, and was hoping for some help. The error is this: "Pre-Flight Error: Unable to import previously rendered file."
Here is my setup and some details:
The user makes a comp, and adds it to the render queue set to render as a quicktime movie file. Then they run a script which precomps everything and sets it to render as a image sequence with "Skip existing files" checked. This comp also has a post-render action set to import & replace usage. After this comp is rendered, it gets pulled back into the project and the original render item starts rendering the movie file using the previously rendered image sequence as it's only layer.
This project gets saved to a server where our render nodes are watching the folder. All the render nodes pick up the project and proceed to render the image sequence. Then, after they are done, 1 machine will pick up the second render item and begin rendering the image sequence into the final quicktime movie.
All of this goes smoothly about 90% of the time. However, in some cases an error shows up in the watch folder html page for the 2nd render item (the one converting the image sequence to the movie). The error says "Pre-Flight Error: Unable to import previously rendered file." After the error occurs, no machines will start rendering the project.
My first guess is that the render engine on one machine somehow skips rendering the image sequence comp, and then tries to render the quicktime movie comp and fails because the image sequence has not yet been rendered. However, I can't figure out why After Effects would skip rendering the first comp.
Does anyone have any idea?

AdamWell, you should get used to the fact that it's simply gone... Just looking at your screenshot makes me grind my teeth. From delayed writing of files to fragmentation in user folders to Windows doing obscure things this could be anything, but seriously, saving important files on the desktop? That is simply sloppy data management. There is no other way to say it. Read up on what proper file naming, incremental saving and backups are good for and why keeping work files separate and away from your user home directories is actually a quite simple, yet effective concept to avoid exactly that kind of issue.

How do I retain my apps after I change my apple ID? Right now I'm unable to update any of the apps with the old apple ID. I get an error message about an invalid id or Password. If I delete my appos and start over, I may lose the apps that I purchased (like the ones for $5 +....
Apps are always tied to the ID that was used to purchase them originally. Did you try entering your old password and see if that works?
If you need to sign out of your old account go to Settings>Store>Tap on your ID and sign out. Sign in with the new one.
you can also access your ID in the featured tab of the App Store. Swipe to the bottom of the screen and you will find it there as well. -

Issue faced:
When i run the page for the first time data gets inserted into custom table perfectly on clicking upload button,
but when clicked on add another button on the same page (which basically redirects to the same upload page and increments the attachment id by 1)
i am getting the below error:
Error
Unable to perform transaction on the record.
Cause: The record contains stale data. The record has been modified by another user.
Action: Cancel the transaction and re-query the record to get the new data.
Have spent entire day to resolve this issue but no luck.
Any help on this will be appreciated, let me know if i am going wrong anywhere.

When I try to use the internal hard drive as a scratch disk I get this error "unable to set scratch disk- the selected directory is on write protect or non-writable media. Any ideas on how to fix this. It only happens in fcp.
By internal, I assume you're referring to your systems (boot) drive. Is it, by chance, a partitioned dive?
Also…although many people successfully use their systems drives as scratch disks, over time you'll have better results using a dedicated drive for your media.

Unable to access any of the radio stations on iTunes
I have iTunes 10 and am unable to access any of the radio stations. I keep getting error messages to try again later and check my Internet connection (it is working fine). Any help would be appreciated!

Unable to start any of the creative suite
Got a odd problem with the creative suite 3 on some of our laptops.
Basicly the install goes threw without any error or problems, but the user(s) are unable to start any of the software.
When trying to start a program like as a example Adobe Photoshop CS 3 it either loads the window with grey background and directly to window not answering or nothing comes up and process shows up on task manager.
Tested all of the software/programs included in the suite and all suffer from the same issue.
Tested installing on a few laptops and only 1 of our models have the issue so probably a flaw in the image for that model, but how do i resolve this without remaking the image and reinstalling all the machines?The machines tho not cutting edge should run it without a problem (2,2ghz/3gb ram/ati hd3200).
Doubt its a network/proxy issue since we have had them in use for a few months and its only the adobe suite having issues, and on the other machine models with same network config the adobe suite dosent have the same issue.
Never got as far as accept the agreement or enter cd-key so looks like its the accept agreement window not popping up that stalls evrything, but there is no error entry or any sign of a window/process for the agreement window at all.
Should be possible to remove the need for the window in registry, but as to what values ive had no luck sofar.
Havent had any luck on google to find the registry values or a contanct mail/form for adobe technical support either. -

Unable to download any of the instant clients
Looks like the download issue has returned (at least for me). I am unable to download any of the instantclient basic or basic lite, 10g or 11. Doesn't matter what i try to download, i get the same errors:
IE8 : Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Firefox : shows a blank page
Chrome: This webpage is not available.I get the same error with the same 3 browsers...

When I tried to convert a file from PDF to WORD.DOC it opened as Read Only and I'm unable to alter any of the text. How do I solve this problem? I don't know how to change it from Read Only.

Referring to your previous message when you said you'd converted via Acrobat and not Acrobat.com, I'm converting via Acrobat.com because that's the only option that is shown (how do I convert via Acrobat? - perhaps that would be more successful). I'm using the Export PDF website, and the OCR is enabled to "Recognize text in English UK". However, I've just tried converting a different LPA pdf form, this time for Health & Welfare https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/245571/LPA114_He alth_welfare_LPA.pdf and again I have the same problem as before. I've altered it from "Read only" and thought I'd then be able to enter text, but "Drawing Tools" is shown in the pane and I'm unable to enter anything onto the form - everything appears to be in images. Also, the lettering on the heading of' page 1 has become jumbled, with the word "Public" overlaying the word "Guardian." Any suggestions as to what it is I'm doing wrong would be welcome - I don't like to be beaten!

I've looked at the code where the socket is created. Unfortunately, the ServerSocket constructor does not take the options as a parameter, so it is not a configuration option with Coherence. However, we would be able to support SO_REUSEADDR by using the default constructor, setting the desired options, and deferring the bind until that has been done.
I've assigned this the tracking number COH-2724. If you'd be willing to test a patch for it, send me your email address (my first name dot my last name at oracle dot com) and I will log that information onto the issue.
