Hello,
It looks like another process (posibly badly shutdown J2EE server) is running and has been allocated the TCPIP ports used by J2EE corba orb. Try shutting down your server and checking that all the ports it uses are free, (you can use netstat -vat or lsof as root to see which ports are in use).
Do you have more than on J2EE application server running on the box? this is another common cause of this kind of error. If so you will need to ensure both instances have unique ports configured, so there is no conflict between them.

the port in orb.properties is not occupied by anything else and is free, but still I can't run this service. any idea?

Nothing is hanged I do ps -e and ps -e
also netstat -a | grep 1051 doesn't show anything, it looks like the port is clear for use but still j2ee doesn't come up ...

Homogeneous System Copy failing on Phase Running J2EE Migration

I am running a Homogeneous System Copy according to the System Copy manual. (SAPinst not SV/RST) It is failing on Phase Running J2EE Migration which tells me to look at my RUNJMT.log (below), but it doesn't seem to give me much direction. As anyone run into this before?:

Java.exe error while running j2ee server in jre1.4.0 env

Hi,
i have been running j2ee 1.3.1 server in jdk1.4.0 enviromrnt. When i try to process large data (like retrieving around 100 records from the database, each having 150 attributes) in the form of XML , I get a runtime error generated by the jvm , whiich says "java.exe has generated the error and is closed by WIndows". I increased the heap size to -Xmx256m. Stil i am getting this error. I am not getting the error if i run with jdk1.3.1 version. Is there any instability with jdk1.4.0 env? any help will be highly appreciated

If you have found a solution to this problem, can you please share it with me.

I think you may need to install the SDK as well.

Problems running J2ee

Hi all
After installing everything and making all PATH lines needed, i run j2ee :
C:\j2ee -verbose
and get error messages :
"Insufficient environmental space" (16 times)
"Syntax error" (3 times)
"Insufficient environmental space" (1 time)
"invalid command or filename"
I would like to know if this might be because :
1) My pc hardware is too limited to run j2ee (Ibm laptop with some P3 processor and 128 RAM)
2) Some Internet or network service should be run before running j2ee
3) There are many other things to configure before running j2ee
If none of those, do u have an idea to solve the pb ?

U can increase the Environment memory of ur dos thro its properties and set to above 4000.

405 errors in the HTTP cycle
Any client goes through the following cycle:
* Obtain an IP address from the IP name of your site (your site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs).

I have checked the runjmt.log its empty.
I did find a note 966752.but couldnt solve the problem.Another thing do we need to have same version of j2sdk,mine are different on source(ia64) and target(x64).

In that case when you are speaking about the installation about what part are you speaking?
I think actually you are speaking about the migration tool from 4.2 to 7.0 Microsoft version .
In that case you can install the mIgration tool just with SAP BPC sys admin users and you have to input the password for that user. Sys admin user for BPC is usually the user used for installation of SAP BPC server.
Any way I suggest to follow the Migration tool training document and there you will find all the information necessary.

Web Server 7.0 Tech preview will not run J2EE tutorial samples

The j2ee 1.5 (javaee5) stuff is servlet 2.5. Since this looks like tomcat 5 under the hood, no surprises, but it would be nice if this were more clearly documented. (No JSF 1.2 for me!) This is understandable, I guess.
The j2ee1.4 stuff, however, is irritating.
first, refuses to precompile bookstore2: says circular reference in errorpage.jsf because prelude.jspf says that errorpage.jsp is the error page (actually circular reference error went away when I removed the error page decl from prelude.jspf)
worse still, java.lang.StackOverflowError when using fmt.message! I reduced the bookstore2 bookstore.jsp to this:

We have occasionally seen the problem that you describe with a 64-bit Web Server when loading deeply nested java classes due to the recursive class loading nature of the JDK classloader. Are you using a 64-bit or a 32 bit server?
I cut and pasted the jsp in your message and accessed the jsp from the docroot and did not see the overflow. I was using the default configuration and I tried both 32-bit and 64-bit servers on Sparc/Solaris.
However, the overflow can be fixed by increasing the native stack size using the admin CLI wadm command. The command changes that native stack size from the default of 128K to 136K.

Cant run J2EE tutorial DukesBank ...

Hello,
I am new in Java and J2EE and want just run the J2EE tutorial DukesBank which i have downloaded from java.sun.com.
Therefore are following steps done:
1. starting the J2EE server (j2ee -start)
2. starting the cloudscape database (cloudscape -start)
3. starting deploytool
4. compile the sources (ant compile-ejb)
5. package the ejbs (ant package-ejb)
Now when i use the verifier in the deploytool then i got the error message:
FAILED: method [makePayment] does not throw valid application exception in Remote/Local interface [com.sun.ebank.ejb.tx.TxController]
I think this causes also the error message which i got when i goto localhost/bank in the webbrowser:

So now i have modified the interface TxController.java with deleting the method 'makePayment', also in TxControllerBean.java.
Then i compiled they again (ant compile-ejb and ant package-ejb) but I have the same problem again, so has the tutorial an error or do i need to modify something else ?!?

DukesBank - RemoteException in AppClient package
The two ant invocations "ant compile-ejb" and "ant package-ejb" take care of of the EJBs. The simplest to way to bring Bank up is "ant all" and there is no need of Deploytool though you will need J2EE Server up.
The context root of the Bank is simply "bank" and the BankAdmin can be run using "runclient.bat" (with a few vanity changes).
This is as far as I go for running the Bank. But when I tried to activate the various functions in the BankAdmin, I kept getting "RemoteException" and could neither create accounts nor customers.
