Running multiple VI's from one data source

Hello,
I am newer to Labview, and currently stuck on a problem.
I have created a program to serial read from an RS232 port and extracted multiple points of the string and display it to the web. I would like to create a second VI from the same RS232 port and display one or two points of information. I have tried to do this with a global VI, but I can't web publish a global. Neither VI will have a user control, they simply display the data coming in. Any suggestions?

You really should have a separate loop just to read the COM port. You can then parse the read data and send to the appropriate sections of code using queues.

Two Pages and Layout from One Data Source

Hi
I need to find a solution where i can based on if a flag in the data is true or not generate a 2nd page which is slightly different in layout to the 1st page.
But at this moment in time i'm struggling to understand how i can even get crystal to generate a 2nd page.
Background is that our system generates a delivery note with a price on it and as a part of new legislation now there has to be a 2nd page provided for the end user. Now we have a data source linked to the report and we would just like to pass in another field which is true/false to print End User Page.
So if the flag is true i need to create a Delivery page and a end user page and if false then only the Delivery page would be generated.
I just need some guidance as to how we may achieve this. Iu2019m ok with crystal but not really done advanced level reports hence why iu2019m probably stuck.

And i suppose i could suppress any other fields from page one based on the same flag. But ideally as they layout is common i was hoping not to have to do a subreport to lay it all out again.
Could i not based on a flag on the group footer or header say if this flag is true start a new page and then on the feilds the ones i want to hide or show say something like if page two and x is ture then show or hide as need be??

Need to print sheet of multiple identical labels from one data record

I need to print 18 labels on a sheet 3 columns x 6 rows of the SAME LABEL based on a single data record,
I've got the label size all set but can only find a way to produce 1 label if I only have 1 record in the data.
Is there a repeat or other function which will let me do this similar to the MS WORD Repeat label functionality?

Try replicatestring function. You might have to use chrw(13) for carriage returns to make it go to the end of the label before printing the next one.

How to use a property from other data source

Scenario: we have 2 datasources, that each have their own set of records having different properties. What I need to do is grab 1 property that exists in all records of 1 of the datasources and display it in the records of the other datasource. There is 1 "common" property (called by different names) in the records of both Data Sources, that have the same value; so this property could be the link between those records even though they belong to 2 different Data Sources.
Here's a simple example:
Data Source " Department" has records that have the properties: 'Name', 'Age' and 'Nationality'.
Data Source "Staff" has records that have the properties:'Staff_name', 'Position'.
The 'Name' and 'Staff_name' have the same values, and can be used to link the 2 records.
I'd like to get the records in the 'Department' data souce to also contain the property 'Position" from the "Staff" datasource .
Is there a manipulator that can do this?

But I don't want to join all data from the 2 datasources - I just want one property from one data source to appear in the records of the other data source.

Combining Data into one Cube from two Data-sources..

Dear Experts,
I am pulling data from two data sources and trying to combine in one Info-Cube. The data are like
Data-Source 01
1. GUID --Common
2.Document No ( User Entry)
3.Dist. Channel
4.Transaction Type
5.Date and Quantity
Data-Source 02
1.GUID -- Common
2.Billing Document ( If User drill down according to Document No , Billing Document should come in the report )
3.Billing date
4.Net Value
Out of the datas , The GUID is common between the 2 data-sources. I was thinking that, tha data will take according to its place and If i select the Document No in Report, it will atomatically fetch all the data like Tran type, dist ch, Billing Document No , Billing date.. .
The problem is , in the report Tha data is not coming as I was thinking.
And Another problem is , In future I need to create a Multiprovider between the above mentioned Info-cube and One ODS. And DOCUMENT NO is common in Cube and ODS.
Please Suggest,

In your case cube will create a problem because it will have multiple records . For example :
Data-Source 01 :
1. GUID -- 101
2.Document No - 999
3.Dist. Channel - DL
4.Transaction Type - GPRO
5.Date and Quantity - 20.02.2011 & 20
Data-Source 02
1.GUID -- 101
2.Billing Document - 6000
3.Billing date - 03.03.2011
4.Net Value - 500
Your cube will have 2 records . And your requirement is to show above two records in 1 record in the report .
Why dont you make an ODS in between , where you can put GUID as the Key field and rest all the fields as data fields. Create 2 transformations to this DSO from the 2 datasources . And let it get updated one by one . Your DSO will have 1 record only . Now either you do reporting on this DSO or take the data to the cube .

One data source and assign multiple data target in BI?

Hi all,
Is it possible is to assign one data source to multiple data targets in BI? Not like in BW 3.X ; one data source can assign only one Info source. I am bit confused about it, let me know about this ?

Okay, I must have misunderstood your message, I was thinking BI 7 and data targets .. like cubes and DSO's.
In 3.x, assign your datasource to a single infosource. Then assign that infosource to multiple data targets by creating update rules and assigning your infosource to each/all of them.
In this way, you shouldn't need multiple infosources per datasource unless you have a special situation that calls for it.

No it is not possible,
you can have different gorups
or
in case of Flat File datasource you can copy the datasource give it a different name and then create a new transformation.
not sure how this works on R/3

Can a master data will have loading from more than one data source

I have a master data object which has every day loading from one particular data source. Now I got a requirement to load data from another data source. If we load data from more than one data source , will there be any problem with data? Will it accept loading from more than one data source.?

We can load the data to target morethan one datasource.Thats advantage in BI compare to BW. It will accept loading from more than one datasource.but you have to take care about characteristic and attributes are the same in both datasources like that.

Populating a subform from a data source.

I understand that the help file in LiveCycle Designer describes the procedure for connecting fields in a form to columns in a data base. I have tried for several days now to populate simple customer information (name, address, state, zip, phone, fax) from a data base.
I have exported the data into an acess database, created the dsn, created the data connection, an secured the database. I am still getting an error message that says "Connection for Source Data Connection failed because the environment is not trusted." I am trying everything I can think of to create the proper combination of user-level security for the database and proper use of the "connection string", but now I have read in the forums that even upon success of this effort, my fellow employees will not be able to use the form properly unless we purchase "Reader Extension Server"
Is there any way to populate customer data in a form, from a data source, that is compatible with Reader, without buying "extension server"

OLEDB is the only database connection that you can connect to from Designer. Through the use of the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for ODBC Drivers, you can also access databases identified by the ODBC data source name (DSN). You can use OLE drivers other than the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for ODBC, however the form must be certified in Acrobat before it will function at run time.
In Acrobat, security concerns dictate that you cannot specify an ODBC connection string by using the Driver=; syntax. Therefore, the client computer needs a DSN configured for ODBC connections.
If you are using external data sources in a form design that you want users to fill in Adobe Reader, you must set
usage rights for the form by using Reader Extensions Server.
Unfortunately it looks like a direct DB connection requires Reader Extensions. Fortunately you can get Reader Extensions pretty cheap from
FormRouter.
As an alternative you can submit the data to a server script (like ASP) and have it write into the Database. There are plenty of sources for writing ASP for PDF files. Just do a search on this forum, or on the web in general.

Is retaining hotsynch an option with the pre plus // how to handle syncing 2 devices to one data source

I just bought two Palm Pre plus' from Verizon. I have no need for gmail - is it possible to continue using hotsync with the new device (I have the original Treo 600)?
If not, are people comfortable with their data being "out there" on Google's servers?
Finally, if you have two devices for your family can you sync both devices to one data source?

Assuming you mean you wish to continue using Palm Desktop or M$ Outlook to sync your data to your new Pre phones, you should review this stickied thread near the top of this board. It discusses several third-party solutions for continuing to use desktop synchronization instead of using a Google account. Note, these solutions sync directly to the Pre's contacts and calendar databases, rather than synchronizing with the Classic application, which as mentioned above is also an option.

Can't speak for everyone, but I am comfortable with my stuff on Google.

You can easily do this with Google, by one of two ways I think: either setting up each family member's account separately, directly on your device, or by sharing the Google calendars in your own google.com account.

Delta Extraction from 0ASSET_AFAB data source

Hi All,
I reinstalled the data source 0ASSET_AFAB_ATTR and 0ASSET_AFAB_TEXT data sources for delta feature.
When i tried to extract the delta its gave the error message RSM 340 ( full and delta init was successful).
I implemented the OSS notes 599896 ,613273 but no luck.
Could you please kindly help me if some one already successfully extracting the delta from this data source.
( Full load is killing our production system its taking more than 90 min to finish)
Its seems this data source supports delta type "AIE" .
Could you please some body put some light on this.

Hello Martin,
the error is pointing to a problem on the source system. So you have to look in R/3. Run the extractor checker in R/3 using transaction RSA3.
It took me a while to figure this one out. Here are the steps you should follow:
1) In R/3 activate the BAdi FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE in transaction SE19 if it is not active.
2) Now run a delta init (with data transfer!) for 0ASSET_ATTR_TEXT (and not 0ASSET_AFAB_TEXT).
3) Once this is successful, do a delta init for 0ASSET_AFAB_ATTR again with data transfer.
4) Now you can load 0ASSET_AFAB_TEXT and finally the 0FI_AA* transaction data. Also the deltas for the master data should work now.

Why won't data merge allow more than one data source at a time?

I need to number tickets, 8 up on a tabloid page, in InDesign (CS5)
I have found out how to use data merge, but it won't allow me to select more than one data source at a time, therefore, making me use 800 sheets of paper instead of 100. That's not acceptable!! Is there a way to merge the pdfs if I make 8 different ones in the places they need to be? Each file that I export will have 100 pages, so is there a way to merge the files to put all eight tickets on each sheet, sequentially? This is driving me nuts!!!!!!!

Past users have solved this frustrating problem. You can find their solutions with a Google search like "InDesign data merge multiple sequential items on one page" without quotes.

Data come from difference data source

In my saturation, my program's data are come from difference data source. For example, the program will retrieve PO balance, material consumption, future consumption and so on. In my program logic, i retrieve all of the material number, the retrieve the PO balance, material consumption... into internal table, then loop the internal table of material number and update this table from internal table of po balance, material consumption..., but i found that the program's running time is long. How to improve the performance or any suggestion for the program logic. Thanks.

Few Guildlines:
1. program is slow mainly because Database load is too high, try to reduce it and that load can be shared by ABAP. gotrhough SE30-perfromance tuning.
Also, in Se30 u will get all most important Tips and tricks, follow it,...
2. Try to find out summary table and dont try always to get data from basic tables.
3. Try to use perfect SELECT statemetn with porper joins, which is most important in reduction of load on DB.
4. you can make ABAP part faster, following coding standard like use of Binary search.
5. Use SLIN to find out which part of program is taking too much time, try to reduce it.
