Running SSIS Package from SQL Job - with Set Values, a string containing";"

Can anybody help with this problem please?
I’m using “set value” in SQL agent to pass in an email address to my SSIS package, if I put in a value of:
[email protected]
It works fine, but if I attempt to input multiple email addresses it fails
[email protected];[email protected]
It doesn’t appear to like the “;”.
Any ideas anyone???

Hi Jamie, many thanks for the response.
If I look at my command line table when Email = [email protected], it looks like:
/SET "\package.Variables[EmailAddress].Value";"[email protected]" /REPORTING E
If I change the value to “[email protected];[email protected]”, it looks like:
/SET "\package.Variables[EmailAddress].Value";"\""" [email protected];"" [email protected] ""\"" /REPORTING E
But the weird thing is, if I close the job properties window and re-open it again, I lose this line from my set values screen all together!!!
Help ???

    Hi All,

    SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRIMEOUTPUTFAILED.  The PrimeOutput method on OLE DB Source returned error code 0xC02020C4.  The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by
    the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.

    The package also runs successfully from other servers. This happens only in one of our server.seems like issue with some sql configuration.

    Hi ,
    Are you running using SQL Agent Job and Data tools on same server or different?
    If it is executing fine using Data tools and failing with Job it might be User credentials issue.Try
    to run Job with your credentials by using proxy .

    I checked the filename so it must be the XML format it's complaining about.

    Thank you, pituach.
    I tried running the package using just my c drive without partition, C:\Nbr_Rolls.dtsx, but still getting the same
    error. I do not see any option on this site to post my package. I know it's not the path that's the issue. Our support desk already fixed that because I was getting a different message before.

  • Pick out the SSIS package from a job

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a SQL 2k5 instance. Previously someone embedded a SSIS package in a job and I just want to look into the SSIS package to understand the logics. However, in the job property, the package source is "SQL Server" and I don't know where I can
    find the package itself(actually I tried open corresponding integration service but found nothing) and make a copy. Could someone give me some advice? Thank you very much.
    regards,
    Oliver

    Hi Jens,
    Thanks for your reply. Actually 2 of the job parameters are as below:
    Package Source: SQL Server
    Server: DE-S-0157590\DE_S_0157590
    I tried to connect to integration service "DE-S-0157590", and I expanded every folder in the object panel but didn't find any SSIS package there. Could you please give some more suggestions? Thanks a lot.
    Hi Oliver_Wang,
    According to your description, we need to verify if someone has delete the SSIS package which is used in your job, I recommend you run this job and check if the job can execute successfully. Or you can choose “Edit” in the job steps and check if the SSIS
    package exists in select an SSIS Package Box.
    If the package indeed exist, we need to verify if you choose the right SQL Server instance. In addition, when you connect to integration service, we need to verify if your login account has permission to view the SSIS package and so on. There is an article
    about SQL Server Agent jobs for packages, you can review it.

  • Error trying to run SSIS Package via SQL Server Agent: DTExec: Could not set \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value] value to System.Object

    Situation:
    SSIS Package designed in SQL Server 2012 - SQL Server Data Tools
    Windows 7 - 64 bit.
    The package (32 bit) extracts data from a SQL Server db to an Excel Output file, via an OLE DB connection.
    It uses 3 package variables:
    *) SQLCommand (String) to specify the SQL Statement to be executed by the package
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::ExcelOutputFile].Properties[Value]
    Value: f:\Output Data.xls
    *) EXCELOutputFIle (String) to specify path and filename of the Excel output file
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::SQLCommand].Properties[Value]
    Value: select * from CartOrder
    *) VarObjectDataSet (Object) to hold the data returned by SQL Server)
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value]
    Value: System.Object
    It consists out of 2 components:
    *) Execute SQL Task: executes the SQL Statement passed on via a package variable. The resultng rows are stored in the package variable VarObjectDataSet
    *) Script Task: creates the physical output file and iterates VarObjectDataSet to populate the Excel file.
    Outcome and issue:The package runs perfectly fine both in SQL Server Data Tools itself and in DTEXECUI.
    However, whenever I run it via SQL Server Agent (with 32 bit runtime option set), it returns the errror message below.
    This package contains 3 package variables but the error stating that a package variable can not be set, pops up for the VarObjectDataSet only.  This makes me wonder if it is uberhaupt possible to set the value of a package variable
    of type Object.
    Can anybody help me on this please ?

    Hi Visakh,
    thank you for your reply.
    So, judging by your reply, not all package variables used inside a package need to be set a value for when run in DTEXEC ?
    I already tried that but my package ended up in error (something to do with "... invocation ...." and that error is anything but clearly documented. Judging by the error message itself, it looks like it could be just about anything. that is why I asked my
    first question about the object type package variable.
    Now, I will remove it from the 'set values' list and try another go cracking the unclear error-message " ... invocation ...". Does an error message about " ... invocation ..." ring any bells, now that we are talking about it here ?
    Thx in advance
    Jurgen
    Yes exactly
    You need to set values only forthem which needs to be controlled from outside the package
    Any variable which gets its value through expression set inside package or through a query inside execute sql task/script task can be ignored from DTExec
    Ok I've seen the invocation error mostly inside script task. This may be because some error inside script written in script task. If it appeared after you removed the variable then it may because some reference of variable existing within script task.

    You need to split your data and create (at least 5) worksheet targets.
    For example if you have a ROW_NUMBER column you can use for instance a
    Conditional Split for something like:
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 0 for Case 1 (excel 1)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 1 for Case 2 (excel 2)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 2 for Case 3 (excel 3)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 3 for Case 4 (excel 4)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 4 for Case 5 (excel 5)

  • Running SSIS Package from another server and performance

    I've built an SSIS package that integrates data from one SQL Server 2008 database to another SQL Server 2008 database.  However, since I needed to leverage some SSIS 2012 components, I've installed the package on another SQL Server 2012 in the network.
    Is there a performance hit (positive or negative) if I run a SSIS package on a SQL Server that isn't the source or destination server?

    Hi,
    we cannot tell for sure. It depends on so many things, amount of data to be transferred, processing needs to be done, overall capacity of the server, workloads that can be handleld by the servers, etc. The mos important aspect but nt the only one is the
    amount of data to be access / tranformed / processed / transmitted to the destination.
    This is a typical case for a test done representative amount of data in a load test on your side.

  • SSIS package and sql agent issue

    Hi guys, I don't know if is the perfect place but I've got a question about running SSIS package from the Job Agent. The problem that I am having this issue: Access Denied.
    What I do is to put the package in a folder in my network where everyone is able to read and write. Of course if I double click the package it's works, bear in mind that the package write in the Database FORUM and I am the only one that has access to the
    database. So if one of my colleague try it doesn't work. But, two questions:
    1) SQL agent need to be configured as a normal user or automatically if you put a package in SQL Agent it can write everywhere?
    2)Most important, in network terms should I ask to the administrator to set up NAMENETWORK\NAMESERVER$ in order to read/write from the table where the package is?

    Sorry...resolved. I set up a proxy with my credentials and now it's running good.

    6 The utility encountered an internal error of syntactic or semantic errors in the command line.
    Details:
    I have a stored procedure named "Execute_SSIS_Package" (see below sp) which executes 'Import_EMS_Response' SSIS package (when I execute this package directly from SQL Server BID it works fine it means package itself is correct) and calling
    it from SQL as:- EXEC Execute_SSIS_Package 'Import_EMS_Response'.
    Here I receives error code 1.
    Can anyone help me to resolve this issue please?
    Thanks in advance!
    CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[Execute_SSIS_Package]
     @strPackage nvarchar(100)
    AS
    BEGIN
     -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from
     -- interfering with SELECT statements.
     SET NOCOUNT ON;
     DECLARE @cmd VARCHAR(8000)
     DECLARE @Result int
     DECLARE @Environment VARCHAR(100)
        SELECT @Environment = Waarde
     FROM  Sys_Settings
     WHERE Optie = 'Omgeving'
     --print @Environment
     SET @strPackage = '"\W2250_NGSQLSERVER\BVT\' + @Environment + '\' + @strPackage + '"'
     SET @cmd = 'dtexec /SQL ' + @strPackage +  ' /SERVER "w2250\NGSQLSERVER"  /Decrypt "BVT_SSIS" /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E'
     --print @cmd
     EXECUTE @Result = master..xp_cmdshell @cmd, NO_OUTPUT
     --print @Result
    END

    It has something to do with the security.
    E.g. cmdshell is not enabled or the caller has not rights over the package.
    There could be a syntax error, too.
    I suggest you make the package runnable off a SQL Agent job then trigger the job from the stored proc with
    sp_start_job <job name>

  • Execute SSIS Package from JOB which contains Execute Process Task calling a .bat file

    Hi All,
    I have a EXCEL Macro needs to be called from SSIS. We could not use Script task because of some internal reason.
    So we have taken an approach to call a .BAT file using Execute Process Task. This .BAT file will call a .VBS file which will execute the EXCEL Macro.
    The SSIS Package is running good if I execute the package from BIDS.
    But the real problem is with the scheduling this SSIS Package using SQL JOB.
    If i execute this SSIS package from SQL Server Job, its executing the whole package successfully except the Execute Process Task.
    So the overall issue is SQL Server Job is not executing properly if I call any .BAT file from the SSIS Package.
    Please give me suggestion to get rid of the issue. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sai.N,
    If you run the SQL Server Agent job manually from SSMS, does the package execute properly? If the package executes properly when you run the job manually, the issue should occur due to permission issue. In this case, I suggest that you create a SQL Server
    Agent proxy based on the current Windows account which you use to log onto the operating system, and run the job under the proxy account.
    If it is not the issue, please enable logging in the package as Visakh mentioned and post the warning/error message for further analysis.

  • Error executing SSIS packages from Agent

    Hi All,
         I designed SSIS package that loads data from Oracle table to SQl server table along with loading data into Diension and fact tables using SSIS packages only. First I created all SSIS packages that loads data into Staging tables from
    Oracle table in next level loading data into Dimension table and final level is loading data into Fact table. At lasts I created One master package there I'm calling all packages (Execute package task) differently.
    Configuration type: Parent package configuration for All child packages. XML config for parent package.
    When I execute SSIS package from BIDS data is loading up to Fact table. When I execute SSIS packages through Sql server agent ( Using File System Deployment)When I execute SSIS package from Sql server agent it is throwing an error message like

    I'm uploaded config file also while at the time of scheduling job.

    Hi Praveen,
    The issue may occur if the SQL Server Agent Service Account or Proxy account doesn’t have sufficient permissions. Please create a SQL Server Agent Proxy account that has the permissions to execute the package and perform update operations on the SQL Server
    fact tables.

  • Run SSIS package at scheduled time without running SSIS service

    Hello
    I want to run SSIS Package using SQL Agent job, But for some reason, I am allowed to install SSIS services on the server. Is there any way to run SSIS package without running SSIS service? I tried using DTEXEC.exe command, but it still give an error. "To
    run SSIS package outside SQL server data tools you must install service".
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Swetha,
    The service itself is not doing much (only allows to connect), but to actually execute SSIS packages naturally you have to have the Integration Services installed where you want to run the package. Likewise, if you have SSIS installed elsewhere you can run
    it remotely off the local SQL Agent that connects to a remote package.
