Running Sum on Two Dimension object

Dear All,
I have below scenario:
In Crosstab:
Row: Region,State
Column : Month
Measure - Sales & Sales % (= Sales for State/Total Sales for that Region)
Expected Output:
Region - Month   ---   Jan Sales -Jan % -  Feb -   Feb % -   Mar - Mar %
West - State -1  -- 10   -    66%(10/30) -   40 - 66% (40/60) -   50 - 50%(50/100)
West  -State -2  --  20   -   34% (20/20) -   20 - 34% (20/60)  -  50- 50% (50/100)
West Running Total   30 - 100%    -  60 -100% -  100 -100%
East - State -1  -- 0   -    0%(0/0) -   60 - 100% (60/60) -   50 - 50%(50/100)
East  -State -2  --  20   -  100% (20/20) -   0 - 0% (0/60)  -  50- 50% (50/100)
West Running Total   20 - 100%    -  60 -100% -  100 -100%
Actual Output:
Month   ---   Jan Sales -Jan % -  Feb -   Feb % -   Mar - Mar %
West - State -1   10   -    66%(10/30) -   40 - 57% (40/70) -   50 - 35%(50/140)
West - State -2    20   -   34% (20/20) -   20 - 22% (20/90)  -  50- 26% (50/190)
Running Total   30 - 100%    -  90 (304030)  -79% -  100 -61%
East - State -1  -- 0   -    0%(0/0) -   60 - 75% (60/80) -   50 - 35%(50/140)
East  -State -2  --  20   -  100% (20/20) -   0 - 0% (0/80)  -  50- 27% (50/180)
West Running Total   20 - 100%    -  80 -75% -  180 -57%
My Running Total Formula is : = Runningsum( Sales; (Region))
Sales % =  Sales / Running Total Formula
In short, I want to reset running total while my state and Month gets change. Here what's going on is while my state will get change, sum will reset and if I use Month in Running Sum formula I will get reverse effect in State.
Can anyone have idea how to solve this issue ?
Any answer would be appreciate.
Regards,
Rishit

hi Rishit,
You need not create any formulas to achieve the expected output.
Create a cross tab with
row -> region, state
column -> month
measure -> sales
Apply a break on Region
Now select sales column
1) insert sum using Summary(Sigma) button.
2) insert Percentage using Summary button
3) Remove unrequired row i.e. horizontal rows for Percentage. But keep the Percentage Column
4) Manually you can type 100% on right hand side of sum.

  • Difference between Dimension Objects L00 and L01

    Dear SDNers,
    While I was creating a universe data source as SAP BW Cube(OLAP) in the business layer of the universe Designer creates a class containing the characteristic as two dimension objects: Level 00 and Level 01. Ex: Material is Class-->Material Number is Sub Class->L00 material number,L01 Material Number as dimension objects and L00 Material Number Key,L01 Material Number Key as Detail object.
    Please tell me What is the difference between L00 and L01 ? I have read the help but I could nt get it.

    Hi swathi,
    From an OLAP point of view a characteristic is like a dimension, that means that it contains all the members (level L01) and the All member that aggregates the characteristic members (level L00);
    These metadata are provied by SAP BW when using OLAP drivers.
    For a characteristic, the level L00 is not necessary unless you want to use the All member.
    On the other hand, the level L00 is significant for hierarchies, hierarchy varaibles and structures because it contains members.
    We provide an option for the universe generation and the universe update that allows to generate or not the level L00.
    This option is available since BOE XI3.1 SP2.
    In SP3, we improved the L00 generataion to only impacts the characteristics and not hierarchies and structures.
    So the recommendation for characteristics is to not use L00.
    All the best

  • Error while running Webi report that uses Custom Dimension object(SAP BW)

    Hi,
    I have a universe that is based on SAP BW.I have created a custom dimension object that displays the maximum date.
    The object syntax is
    <expression>Max(@Select(CPS Online\Calendar day))</expression>
    The object parses successfully.
    The object 'Calendar Day ' is a defaultobject created during universe creation from the BW query.It is defined as [0CALDAY].[LEVEL01]
    I tried  to create a Webi report using this object and a measure .On running the query it throws the following error:
    A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query WITH MEMBER [Measures].[EBC10672-C0DA-4998-93,80,D3,FF,C3,E8,A2,22] AS ' Max{[0CALDAY].[LEVEL01]} '  SELECT  { [Measures].[EBC10672-C0DA-4998-93,80,D3,FF,C3,E8,A2,22], [Measures].[4JCOSFOKKCUR3RMBPNROFKQQD] }  ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY [0CALDAY].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS DIMENSION PROPERTIES [0CALDAY].[20CALDAY] ON ROWS FROM [ZCCPSONL/ZCPSONLINE]  failed to execute with the error Invalid MDX command with (. (WIS 10901)
    I have tried every possible syntax I could think of but I keep getting this error each time.I have set the object type to Number (even though it is actually a Date), I have tried writing the MDX inside the Max instead of the @select , but nothing seems to work.Could anyone please let me know why this error is occuring?Is there anything wrong with the syntax or is there any setting in Webi needed before a custom dimension object can be used on it.

    Can you see data for Custom object @ BEx level??
    YES, then just try to re-create the same variable and Save the BW query.
    Now do View - refresh Strusture @ Universe. And you can see Filter for the same, just Parse it, just whether it is OK or not.
    OK -- then Export the Universe and create WebI reports, this will come as Prompt.
    Hope it will helps you.
    Thank You!!

  • Synchronising two different objects

    Hi everyone,
    I am asking for your help while i am writing an example code. I want to learn how to synchronise two differents objects.
    The first class is actually a MIDlet, which has to increase a counter and display it until the second class send a message to the midlet. At this moment, the midlet has to display the message. I am actualy thinking about adding another thread, but lets speak only about the midlet and the calculator :)
    I think there is a problem in my way of thinking, that's why i am asking for your help :
    Here is an extract of my midlet code :
    public class Main extends MIDlet implements CommandListener {
        private static boolean isFromCalculator    = false;
        private static boolean displayUsed = false;
        Command exitCmd = new Command("Exit", Command.EXIT, 1);

        TextBox tb = new TextBox("Principal", "", 200, 1);
        int cpt = 0;
        Calculator calc = new Calculator();
        public Main()
            calc.start();
            tb.addCommand(exitCmd);
            tb.addCommand(pauseCmd);
            tb.setCommandListener(this);
        public void startApp() {

        public void pauseApp() {
        public void destroyApp(boolean unconditional) {

    Hi everyone,
    I am asking for your help while i am writing an example code. I want to learn how to synchronise two differents objects.Note that you don't "synchronize objects." You synchronize methods or blocks of code on objects (or, more properly I suppose, on their locks). This may seem like a petty distinction, but when you say "synchronize objects," it sounds like you think that you're controlling access to an object. That is not the case. If you need further explanation, let me know.

  • Linking two ODS objects using a multiprovider

    Hello Gurus,
    I need to link two ODS objects and both are having 3 common characteristics and the relationship between the two objects are one to many.
    My questions would be....
    1)When the relationship is one to many can I set it up in the multiprovider to sum it up and show in the report?
    2)I have 5 other charaterstics that I need to report(Slice and dice) on, but these are not common ones to both ODS objects. Is it possible for the user to get the report based on these charaterstics also? Or do I need to make sure that these 5 also exist in both DOS objects?
    Thank you,
    DM

    Hi Sh,
    Thank you very much for your reply. But I have few concerns.
    1)One to many relationship will not have any effect on the data linking since the multiprovider clubs the key figures on common characteristics. I tried this on the system and it worked.
    2)The problem would be not having similar characteristics on both infoproviders. So if I want to report on the chars individually it will have a problem( Will come as non assigned values)
    But the documentation says the multiprovider supports Homogenous and Heterogeneous cases. Please refer the following link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/52/1ddc37a3f57a07e10000009b38f889/frameset.htm
    I am not sure what I can do now....whether to get all the characteristics in both infoproviders by enhancing the them. Or is there another way?
    And lastly the scenario I am looking at is billing and cost of goods. So I might find records in cost of goods which may not have corresponding records in billing.(There can be goods in stock which need to be billed)The problem would be the way multiprovider link records(union) so it will have all the records from both sides even if they do not correspond to each other.
    Let me know what you think.
    Cheers,
    DM

  • How do I make a form field validate that it is the sum of two other fields?

    Hi there,
    I am creating a form, and I would like one of the fields to validate by making sure that this field is the sum of two other fields in the form.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about this?  I know I'll need to run a custom validation script, but I'm not sure where to begin - I've never done one for validation before.
    Thanks for any help!

    OK, here's a sample script that I hope will clearly demonstrate the general approach. It is intended to be the custom Validate script of the field that the user enters that value that is supposed to be equal to the sum of the two others.
    // Custom Validate script
    (function () {
        // Get the value that the user entered
        var sVal = event.value;
        // If it is blank, do nothing else
        if (!sVal) {
            return;
        // Convert string to a number
        nVal = +sVal;
        // Get the values of the fields, as numbers
        var v1 = +getField("text1").value;
        var v2 = +getField("text2").value;
        // Add them together, rounding to two decimal places, converting to number
        var sum = +util.printf("%.2f", v1 + v2);
        // Compare entered value to the sum of the other two fields
        // Alter the user if they do not match
        if (nVal !== sum) {
            app.alert("The value you entered does not equal the sum of text1 and text2. Please correct.", 3);
            // If you want the entered value rejected, include the following
            event.rc = false;
    Replace "text1" and "text2" with the actual field names.

  • I can't get two "room" objects to "glue" together in a floor plan

    I can 't get two rooms to "glue" together in Visio 2010.
    I've tried several ways to drag the "room" objects and handles around the floor plan but not only do the rooms not glue to each other, they snap or glue to other things (like ruler divisions), making it almost impossible to get the room walls to
    overlap cleanly.
    I found a forum posting somewhere where the respondent only suggested verifying default settings and I matched mine up with those, but that thread went cold without a solution.
    What settings are required, and what steps are required, to glue two "room" objects together in Visio 2010?
    Wayne Erfling (aka Cornan The Iowan)

    Thanks, George,
    You began your message with a question, but I think you understand "why I would want rooms to snap together", thus your work-around.
    Nonetheless, the "big answer" is that I want to set the
    room dimensions for each room individually (we're using Visio to place our belongings within each room) and then snap the rooms together to "build the house".
    I started out by creating several rooms with correct dimensions (which I then locked with Developer / Protection).
    That's when I discovered that the rooms "wanted" to snap to ruler divisions and geometry instead of to each other.
    It's pretty clear that the room design templates / stencils in Visio 2010 have limited functionality - the "convert to walls" feature, for example, generates some pretty horrendous artifacts.
    The second most irksome problem is connector routing - I've spent an hour or two doing nothing more than removing excess connection points because connectors insist on routing around some shapes, generating bizarre, wandering paths that I can't seem to disable.
    But still, Visio 2010 is better for this purpose than CorelDraw and far better than "SmartDraw", and I don't have any CAD software.  I just doubt that Microsoft has made Visio 2013 any better - Microsoft
    seems to flip between simple maintenance releases and "grand" rewrites, failing to embrace anything like "continuous improvement".
    Finally, the ribbon, a "blonde" solution at best, is particularly horrible in Visio - much of my work on this drawing has required me to switch among ribbon tabs.
    Sorry for the rant, George, but anything I can learn to help with these issues will make the remainder of the job better.

  • How to get Distinct Count of Products across two dimensions

    Hi,
    I have two dimensions, Item and Presentations. I need to get distinct count of products for IMD_Id + Merc_Pres_Id. IMD_Id is the lowest member in Item and Merc_Pres_Id is lowest in Presentation. My MDX query is given below but when I apply filters to

    2. When we apply filter (parameters) Distinct Count should be in the context of filters( which are mentioned in the select statement like Style, Demand Center and Merch Group). Currently after applying filters count does not change.

  • Creating a new Dimension Object in BW MDX Universe

    Hi,
    I am trying to concatenate 2 string elements in a Dimension Object within an MDX BW Universe.
    Based on some research I have done, it seems like concatenation of strings can be accomplished with the + (plus) operator.
    When I concatenate the strings, I get no parsing errors, but I get errors when using the universe in a webi report.
    In the universe, the dimensions are defined as follows: [0FISCYEAR].[LEVEL01] and [ZPD_PRD].[LEVEL01]
    I have tried many things:
    [0FISCYEAR].[LEVEL01] + [ZPD_PRD].[LEVEL01]
    <EXPRESSION>[0FISCYEAR].[LEVEL01] + [ZPD_PRD].[LEVEL01]</EXPRESSION>
    @Select(Time\Fiscal Year) + @Select(Time\Period)
    <EXPRESSION>@Select(Time\Fiscal Year) + @Select(Time\Period)</EXPRESSION>
    If I don't put the <EXPRESSION> xml tags around the concatenation I get an XML parsing error in the webi report, but when I put them in, I believe it is trying to interpret the dimension as a MEASURE.
    I secondary need I have is to concatenate some static text (eg. "TEXT XYZ") to a single dimension, but am having the same challenges.
    Can anyone help?  I suspect there is a different XML delimiter I need other than <EXPRESSION> to make this work.
    ANy help is appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hello,
    You have two options to fullfill your requirement...
    1. Use Concat(e) function in universe while creating Dimension Object.
    2. In WebI if you use Concate([Obj1],[Obj2])
    If you need space then..
    Concate([obj1],Concate('  ' ,[Obj2]))
    Thank You!!

  • Not exists / union - two dimensions nothing in the fact folder, possible???

    What I am trying to do is (in functional terms) produce an invoices on hold report.
    This has two distinct characteristics - some invoices are coding but on hold (easy - see first part of the SQL below), but some invoices have no coding, nothing in the FACT folder and I need to show two dimension folders which currently only join via the FACT folder - is this possible??
    equivalent SQL =>
    select supp.supplier_name, inv.invoice_number, inv.invoice_amount, dis.amount, code.segment1||'/||code.segment2
    from     AP_INVOICES_MV inv
    ,          ap_suppliers_mv supp
    ,       ap_holds_mv hold
    ,      AP_INVOICE_DISTRIBUTIONS dis
    ,     gl_coding code
    where inv.invoice_key = hold.invoice_key
    and    inv.supplier_key = supp.supplier_key
    and  inv.invoice_id = dis.invoice_id
    and   dis.code_key = code.code_key
    and   hold.holds <> 'No Holds'
    union
    select supp.supplier_name, inv.invoice_number, inv.invoice_amount, 0 amount, 'XXXXX/XXXX' gl_code
    from     AP_INVOICES_MV inv
    ,          ap_suppliers_mv supp
    ,       ap_holds_mv hold
    where inv.invoice_key = hold.invoice_key
    and    inv.supplier_key = supp.supplier_key
    and   hold.holds <> 'No Holds'
    and   not exists
    (select 'x'
    from    ap_invoice_distributions dis
    where dis.invoice_id = inv.invoice_id)
    order by 1, 2, 4 ascMy problems are; -
    1. is that the second part of the union (not exists section) requires me to join two DIMENSION tables without going via the FACT table is this possible?? (If so how - what JOINS would I need on between the FACT and the DIMENSIONS and would this significantly impede running speed generally)
    2. Given that even when writing direct database requests the FROM part of the SQL is the subject area, not the tables, the tool writes the joins for you, how can I write the equivalent of the above??
    n.b.
    AP_INVOICES_MV - DIMENSION
    ap_suppliers_mv - DIMENSION
    ap_holds_mv - DIMENSION
    gl_coding code - DIMENSION
    AP_INVOICE_DISTRIBUTIONS FACT
    With the structure following the classic STAR with all folders described in the dimensions equi joining to the FACT folder, BUT some in the invoices dimension will not have corresponding values in the FACT folder (un-coded invoices).
    With thanks for your input,
    Robert.

  • Can findText find two different objects at once?

    I have written a script that finds all italicized words, then compares them to a character style that italicizes characters. If there are any italicized words that do not use the character style, the user is alerted.
    Of course, not all fonts use a fontStyle that equals "Italic." Some use a fontStyle called "Oblique."
    I was trying to figure out how the findText function could find two fontStyles at the same time. My solution was to realize that each find is an array. So I made two finds and the concatenated the arrays. The resultant array (here called myFoundItems) elements can be searched through to find any that do not have the correct character style applied.
    My question is if the findText function can find more than two different objects at once or are we stuck with concatenating arrays?
    Below is part of the script:
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    initFindReplace(); [This function zeros out anything left in the find/change preferences]
    app.findTextPreferences.fontStyle = "Italic";
    var myFoundItems1 = myDoc.findText();
    initFindReplace();
    app.findTextPreferences.fontStyle = "Oblique";
    var myFoundItems2 = myDoc.findText();
    initFindReplace();
    var myFoundItems = myFoundItems1.concat(myFoundItems2);
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Tom,
    The reason why you end up with an array of arrays is this: you define an array allMyFoundItems, then you iteratively collect other arrays using findText and insert ("push") these arrays into allMyFoundItems. Instead, you should use concatenate:
    var allMyFoundItems = new Array;
    for (. . .
       var myFoundItems = myDoc.findText();
       allMyFoundItems = allMyFoundItems.concat (myFoundItems)
    If you'll allow me a further comment, you could formulate your test to check whether a fontstyle name contains oblique or italic in one line:
    >if (arrFontStyles[k].search (/(italic|oblique)/i) > -1)
    And as the script searches but doesn't change anything, there's no need to set the ChangeTextPreferences. Your script could then be stated as follows:
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var arrFontStyles = myDoc.fonts.everyItem().fontStyleName;
    aa = findFontStyle (arrFontStyles);
    function findFontStyle (arrFontStyles)
       var allMyFoundItems = new Array;
       var myFoundItems2 = new Array;
       app.findTextPreferences = NothingEnum.NOTHING;
       for(var k = 0; k < arrFontStyles.length; k++)
          if (arrFontStyles[k].search (/(italic|oblique)/i) > -1)
             app.findTextPreferences.fontStyle = arrFontStyles[k];
             var myFoundItems = myDoc.findText();
             allMyFoundItems = allMyFoundItems.concat (myFoundItems);
             }//end if
          }//end for k
       return allMyFoundItems;
       }//end findFontStyle function
    As to formatting scripts in the forum, you can do this by wrapping your code in <pre> and </pre>. Also replace < with &lt; (< causes all lines of code to be displayed on one line). You should also replace curly quotes with straight codes, and tabs with (non-breaking) spaces. I use the following script for that:
    tf = app.documents.add().textFrames.add ({geometricBounds: [0,0,'700pt','500pt']})
    tf.insertionPoints[0].select();
    app.activeDocument.textPreferences.typographersQuotes = false;
    app.paste();
    app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null;
    sara (tf, '&', '&amp;');
    sara (tf, '<', '&lt;');
    sara (tf, '\\t', '   ');
    sara (tf, "'", "'");
    sara (tf, '"', '"');
    tf.parentStory.insertionPoints[0].contents = '<pre>';
    tf.parentStory.insertionPoints[-1].contents = '</pre>';
    function sara (tf, f, r)
       app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = f;
       app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo = r;
       tf.parentStory.changeGrep ()
    Copy the text of the script you want to prepare for posting, then run this above script. It creates a new InDesign document, pastes your script into it, and makes all the necessary changes. Then copy that and paste it into the forum.

  • Can I create a DIMENSION object mappign without a Dimension table?

    I understand how I can create a dimension object and it's associated table. However, can I map my enterprise data directly to the dimension object itself and skip the loading of the dimension table? The enterprise data for most of my reporting warehouse for the greater part is fairly simple and requires only joins to some reference data.

    Matthew,
    Like you stated, the dimension object in OWB will generate scripts for two object types. The first is a dimension object and the second is a table. In the dimension object the hierarchical structure(s) (meta data) is stored and the table stores the data. So you always have to load your enterprise data into the table.
    Hope this helps.
    With kind regards,
    Bas Roelands

  • How to RELIABLY compare two File objects?

    Hi java community!
    I have two File objects and I need to know whether they both point to the same file on the system. First, I tried using the equals() method of the File object, but later I found that this often returns false even when file being pointed to by both objects is the same file.
    For example:
      public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
        File mFileA = new File("C:\\PROGRA~1\\MYPROG~1\\MYDATA~1.TXT");
        File mFileB = new File("C:\\Program Files\\My Program\\My Data File.txt");
        DataInputStream mInputA = new DataInputStream(new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(mFileA)));
        DataInputStream mInputB = new DataInputStream(new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(mFileB)));
        System.out.println("Contents of file A:");
        while (mInputA.available() > 0) {
          System.out.println(mInputA.readLine());
        System.out.println("\nContents of file B:");
        while (mInputB.available() > 0) {
          System.out.println(mInputB.readLine());
        System.out.println("\nAre file A and file B the same file?");
        System.out.println(mFileA.equals(mFileB) ? "Yes" : "No");
      }Running this gives the following output:
    Contents of file A:
    First line of the file.
    Second line of the file.
    Third and final line of the file.
    Contents of file B:
    First line of the file.
    Second line of the file.
    Third and final line of the file.
    Are file A and file B the same file?
    NoIt seems that the different representation of the paths (short 8.3 file names, vs. long file names) is confusing Java into believing that they are two separate files, even though the example above confirms that they are in fact the same file by showing the contents from input streams derived by the two File objects (which are, needless to say, identical).
    So, does anyone know how to reliably determine whether two File objects point to the same file?
    Cheers,
    Martin

  • MaxL / INCBUILDDIM - two dimension limit

    I'm trying to build multiple dimensions in a single MaxL 'import database dimensions' command by including multiple 'from xx using rules_file xx' blocks separated by commas. This syntax is as per the documentation.The reason for building multiple dimensions in a single 'import database dimensions' command, rather than using multiple commands is that this achieves the same effect as the ESSCMD 'INCBUILDDIM', where the database is only restructured after ALL the dimensions have been built.MaxL doesn't error, but it only builds the first two dimensions specified and simply ignores any others! Has anyone seen this issue - I'm wondering if it's a MaxL bug (v6.5.1). I've tried different dimensions, changing the order etc. Always the same - builds the first two, ignores anything else.Thanks..

    Assuming that your AW was defined using AWM or OWB (i.e. it is standard form), then you should find two additional objects related to your dimension -- the INHIER valueset and the HIERLIST dimension. For example, if your dimension is named PRODUCT, then you should find
    DEFINE PRODUCT_HIERLIST DIMENSION READONLY LOCKDFN TEXT
    DEFINE PRODUCT_INHIER VALUESET READONLY LOCKDFN PRODUCT <PRODUCT_HIERLIST>
    (These are 11g definitions -- the 10g versions do not have READONLY LOCKDFN.
    The PRODUCT_HIERLIST contains one member for each hierarchy of the dimension, 'H1' and 'H2' say. To limit the dimension to just members in H2 you can say
    LIMIT PRODUCT TO PRODUCT_INHIER(PRODUCT_HIERLIST 'H2')
