Running the JRE from a CD

Hi all,
I'm hoping to distribute a Java application I have written on CD but the majority of the people I will be giving it to won't have the Java Runtime Environment. Is it possible to burn the JRE onto a CD along with my class files so the user can execute the program by a batch file (everyone running it will be on a Windows platform)?
Thanks.

Verrry slow, though - and some configuration files
that are normally updatable won't be - unless it's a
writable cd.Ah, how often do you update your JRE configuration on the fly?
It should be perfectly OK to just copy the "jre" directory from a standard JDK distribution into your CD, and have your startup file point to its own JRE to load Java. (You don't even have to set up CLASSPATH specially for this - the java startup code knows how to find its own rt.jar, etc.)

    Anyone know which render format I should use, my film will be used on a video wall (12 screens) and I need super quality. My footage format is 1080p HD resolution 1920x1080. I will be running the project from a mac with a direct line to video wall. Thanks in advance.

    I do some VJ-type work, involving playback of QuickTime files from the computer to projections, and I get good results using ProRes 422. That's convenient, because ProRes 422 is such a great editing codec, too.
    Traditionally, VJs use PhotoJPEG codec, which also works well, but it's a bad editing codec. So you would have to export an edited master, then convert.
    If you want it to look as good as possible, definitely schedule some time to test the footage on the wall. You may want to change the color correction of your footage to match the projectors. And if you feed the video wall some flat gray, you can see if any of the projectors need to be  adjusted.
    I'm not sure what application you're using for playback, but QuickTime Player 7 works well. It has an option to play fullscreen on an external monitor (View > Present Movie…).

  • Calling report from forms while running the application from thin clients

    I am using thin client technology with 64MB RAM for running developer 6i application.
    The server has windows 2000 advanced server with 256 MB RAM.
    When I run the apllication from a single client, it works fine even for multiple windows.
    But the moment I switch on more thin clients, the client which fired the printing job first works fine, while the others allow data entry using forms but any call to report for direct printing throws an illegal condition error. I have tried both run_product and host option for running reports. The error returned is the same.
    Howver if the report is run from command prompt simultaneously from both the clients it works fine.
    Immediate help required in this case
    chandandeep

    Hi,
    you better off using Run_Report_Object() instead of Run_Product(). There is a Whitepaper available on otn.oracle.com/products/forms that details this. The problem that you run into is that Forms Services(thin clients) are multi user environments while Reports called via Run_Product() is a single user environment. This means that the Reports Runtime does not handle Reports requests in parallel but sequential one at a time. The first user blocks the runtime engines and all other hang for this time.

A: my MacBook Air becomes unresponsive when logging in, and I decided to reinstall OS X Lion. When running the installer from OS X Recovery, it gave the error message "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again."

I encountered the same exact problem when I attempted to re-installed OSX Lion on an old laptop. The date was set back in 2000, which rendered the certificate obsolete. Here's how I fixed it:
From the recovery menu, select the Terminal application. Run the 'date' command to confirm the date is wrong, then set the correct date using this command: date {month}{day}{hour}{minute}{year}
e.g. date 1219195613
Exit terminal (type exit). Retry the installation.

    If this app. is normally hosted on wwwgate0.mot.com then it can 'phone home' to the server without further permission, but if you are running it from the command line, that might not be the codebase anymore.
    If you wish to do 'local testing' of such an app., I would recommend setting up a server like Tomcat on the local machine, and serving the test app. directly off that.

  • JC 3.0 crypto error when running the simulator from Netbeans

    Hi all
    I'm writing some crypto code using Netbeans 6.7 with the JC plug-ins and I have a problem when trying to run the applet from netbeans. The code is compiled without problems, but when trying to run it I get the NO_ALGORITHM exception.
    I'm not using a real card, I'm just using the virtual JC provided by the JCDK and Netbeans. Could it be that the Reference Implementation that is shipped with JCDK 3.0 does not support MD5 or SHA-1? Or is it a configuration problem, and I must configure some policy file in order to be able to use crypto capabilities? My code without the crypto part is running ok. Here's an excerpt of the code:
    MessageDigest md5;
    try{
    md5 = MessageDigest.getInstance(MessageDigest.ALG_MD5, false);
    catch(CryptoException e)
    // I always get to this part...
    Did any of you get to run a crypto application using Netbeans 6.7 and JC3.0?
    Thanks in advance.
    A_Martin

    Hi again
    After doublechecking the JC 3.0.1 documentation, I've found the following statement (user guide, page 128):
    "The implementation of security and cryptography in version 3.0.1 of the RI supports the use of the following classes:"
    And then a list of classes and supported algorithms is included. Shouldn't that mean that SHA1 (which is on the list) should work with the virtual JC?
    Best regards.

  • Unable to run the form from Form Builder 10g

    HI,
    I am having a problem with running a form with form builder 10g.
    I have create a form with some text boxes to display values in a table.
    When i compile and run the form it does not run The error shown is

    The port number 1740 changes everytime. I dont know why.
    I have started the OC4J instance before starting the Form Builder.
    I have made the changes to the runtime preferences in the form builder.
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet
    But it doesn't work when i try to run the form from Form Builder.
    ie Program-->Run Form
    The form works properly when using the 'Run a form on the Web Utility' provided with Developer Suite.
    Can anyone please suggest a solution. I have searched the forum but didnot find a solution.
    Thanks
    V.S.

    One of our DBAs has installed the software.
    It was a default installation, I believe, as no configuration was done during the installation except for increasing the virtual memory size.
    Post installation we changed the tnsnames.ora file and the sqlnet.ora file.
    Do i need to configure something ?

    rep-1070 error while opening and saving the file
    please give me the solution
    Shehzad

    Shehzad,
    this means that Reports Server cannot access the Reports module. You can test this assumption by copying your Reports module into <Oracle Home>\reports\samples\demo. The demo directory is out of the box accessible fro Reports.
    If this allows you to run the Report, then all you need to do is to specify the Reports_Path to include the reports modules.
    btw.: An other reason can be that your Reports contains uncompiled PLSQL, so you may want to check this too.

  • Exception CX_RS_ERROR occurred when trying to run the DTP from Cube

    Hi everyone,
    I've run the DTP &  loaded the cube using normal transformation routines , it works fine in the Dev Sys but not in quality & production. I've access only to the Dev sys. In Qual & Prod when trying to run the DTP from Cube to open HUB
    we're getting the following error
    Exception CX_RS_ERROR occurred (program: CL_RSTRAN_TRFN================CP, include: CL_RSTRAN_TRFN================CM024*
    My system support package level is SAPKW70106.
    I've found note 920338 but is for SAPKW70107.

    Hi,
    The issue seems to be with the one of the routines in the transformation and similar kind of the issues were solved by retransporting the DTP & the related transformation.
    Kindly reactivate the DTP and transformation in the source and execute a new request to transport the DTP, transformation and related routines to Quality & Production again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem while running the report from a form

    Hi,
    I am able to call a report from forms9i using run_report_object. This report just has a boilertext within it. I did this just to check the functionality of run_report_object built-in. This worked perfectly.
    But when I am trying to call a report based on emp table from the form, it gives me error saying that it cannot run the report.
    Can anyone please help me.
    Thanks

    Hi Ino Laurensse ,
    Thanks for the response.
    The error code and message is as follows
    frm-41214 Unable to run report.
    I am able to call from forms9i a report with some boilertext but not a report accessing the database. Thro' out I have never changed the username.
    The following are the changes I made
    In the rwservlet.properties
    I specified the
    reportserver name = repsrv ( I created it and started from the services)
    singlesignon = no
    I am able to run the report which is accessing the emp table from the report builder with the same user as the one which I am using in forms, but, the same I am not able to call from forms.
