Runtime Exception in Creating DataSink from Applet

Hi All
I am capturing screen and recording audio using JMF utilities. The application is working fine in applet viewer but as soon as I run the application from browser, a runtime exception is thrown while creating the datasink. The exact exception is "*create the DataSink: java.lang.RuntimeException: No permission to write files from applets*".
Although I am able to create files and have set read/write permissions as well.
The jar file I am using is self signed.
Please suggest what should I do.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards
Kuldeep

This post is made assuming that my earlier assertion is correct.

..Would it be able to capture the user screen and.. No.
..generate the .mov file?Yes. No problem there.
Can you please explain the root cause of this problem? Which part of my explanation are you having trouble with?
.. I am newbie to applets and jmf .. That is a recipe for disaster. Applets are a PITA at the best of times. Now throw in an abandoned API on top of that, some 'high security' concerns & I can see much frustration for you.
It might make it simpler if you abandon the applet and instead use a webstart launched (J)Frame.

  • Runtime execution of a Class from applet.....

    Hi all,
    I have a applet in a jar(say A.jar) and it is signed. One more jar(say B.jar) is created and it contains a class that has to be executed using Runtime.exec() from the applet (in other jar -> A.jar). Both jars present in server and jar list is mentioned using <PARAM NAME=CACHE_ARCHIVE VALUE="...."> tag where the VALUE is assigned with list of jar names.
    So how to execute a Class at Runtime present in one jar from a applet present in other jar.
    Please help....
    Thanx,
    Soni

    thx Clemens... thx for the reply...
    Here i am not accessing a applet from another applet. I want to Run a Java Application from a Applet (using Runtime class). How to do this? Here the Java Application class exist in a seperate jar other than the jar which holds Applet class. Both jars are signed and both exist in server.
    thx,
    Soni.

    Hi,
    I think your code is not complete, I don't see any close bracket there.
    anyway, inside of the loop you try to create InputField with the same name "test",
    Please see "bold" for my correction.

  • Cannot create target element(Runtime exception occurred during application

    Hi ,
    this is IDOC TO HTTP Scenario. in error description it is shoein g below error.
    Runtime exception occurred during application
    Cannot create target element (inbound)
    please advice
    thank you.

    Copy the payload from sxmb_moni and test it in the mapping tool using debug mode. I suspect some mandatory elements in target structure requires value but it is missing during mapping. Sometime sender data structure due to values are not getting at runtime does not create target structure element. Check all the individual fields in the mapping tool.

  • How to create thread in applet without causing modifyThreadGroup exception?

    I've searched through this forum, and it has dozens of posts regarding infamous modifyThreadGroup exception. The two answers I continuously stumble upon are:
    1) Change something in permission file. This is unacceptable, because I'm writing an applet, which by definition should be portable.
    2) Sign the jar file. This is still unacceptable, because a) I do not know how to do this yet b) from what I've seen, process of signing is quite complicated c) I'm still in the development stage, using NetBeans 4.0, so I can't use jar's d) I just need to instantiate a freakin' thread, that's all.
    Now, instead of searching for quick fix, I want to ask couple of meaningful questions.
    1) Why some security managers do not allow me to instantiate new threads in applet? Why other security managers do? (Write once, run everywhere. Yeah, right.)
    2)How can I create thread in applet, maintaining applet's portability?
    PS: Sorry for the attitude. The case is, such things in Java irritate me greatly.

    what are you trying to do within these ThreadsMy applet needs to dynamically receive and display data from a server (also written in Java). Data changes over time, so applet needs to render this changes.
    The problem is not with the content of the thread (for there is no content yet), but with the fact that tread created at all. Here is the code that generate named exception:
            Thread receivingThread = new Thread() {
                public void run(){
                    //do something
    [quote]
    As you can see, I'm not even running a thread, but merely creating it. (Well, I will need to run it anyway, but it's the instantiation that causes problem currently.)

  • Runtime exceptions from listeners

              When a servlet context listener throws a runtime exception, does the container
              catch it? It seems that
              the container just ignores the exception and tries to go on with life as usual.
              It does not even log the
              exception trace in the server log. Out of desperation, I finally put my entire
              contextInitialized() method
              in a try-block, and created a catch-block for RuntimeException which prints the
              exception stack-trace to
              the console.

    This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • Throwing Runtime Exceptions from BPM. How?

    Hi !
    I want to make appear a red flag in the SXMB_MONI as a result of a custom condition inside a BPM. I tried with the control step, but it makes no "red flag".
    Should I make a transform step between 2 dummy message types with a UDF that throws the runtime exception there?? is there another way ?? We want a red flag as a result of a expired deadline while waiting a file adapter transport acknowledgement.
    Thanks !!
    Matias.

    Matias,
    As you said before you want the BPM to be errored out if it reach the deadline, am I right. In control step if u say cancel process it equivalent to logically deleting the work items, so obviously you will get an succesfull message. What I suggest you to do is in  Deadline branch - control branch select throw exception. The exception name has to be defined in Block level. So if you throw an exception it will look for the exception branch in the same block level if not the higher(super)block level, if it couldn't find the exception branch it will run out to error. Actually the exception branch is used to catch that exception and continue the rest of the process, so i think there is no need for defining the exception branch itself.
    Hope it helps you!!!

    raj.

  • Cannot create mysites from powershell: Original XSLT List View Web Part not found

    I have a bizarre problem in my SharePoint 2013 farm. This does not occur in my test farm, only in the farm we were going to go live with.
    I'm on windows Server 2012, SQLServer 2012 SP1, SharePoint 2013 April CU. 1 appserver/centraladmin server, 2 web servers.
    When I log into our mysitehost and click newsfeed, it will create a mysite (even though first it displays "we are sorry there was a problem creating your site")
    But from powershell, whether I use $UserProfile.CreatePersonalSite() or New-SPSite, I get the following error:
    Original XSLT List View Web Part not found
    So far I've only found one other person with this:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/2503e42c-e114-4e89-8e00-89fe70f0b154/cannot-create-sharepoint-mysite-programmatically
    This is a brand new farm, created with the same scripts I created my test farm with, and same version of SharePoint. Only the service accounts are different. (Farm account has admin on the servers right now since I was setting up profile service).
    Some other errors from the same correlation ID that look related:
    It can't seem to find the listemplate 101
    And something looks wrong with the MySiteDocumentLibrary feature
    I have tried the following:
    1. run psconfig.exe on each server
    2. install-spfeature -AllExistingFeatures
    3. looped through the directory under Features and for each called Install-SPFeature $dirname -Force
    4. uninstalled and reinstalled MySiteDocumentLibrary feature
    5. blew away the whole farm (removed all servers from farm, deleted all databases) and recreated it.
    6. tried creating the UPA from the CentralAdmin gui.
    The only real difference I can think of between the working farm and non working farm is, I installed the working farm using RTM, then as they came out added the March PU and April CU. For this farm I installed RTM and March and April, and then ran my build
    farm script.
    I am at a loss. What do I need to do, re-install the binaries? That's all I can think of. What I love is that our test / POC system worked fine, and now 2 weeks before go-live I'm seeing errors on the production servers I've never seen before. Using the
    same scripts no less.

    I've had other problems in this farm: the bug where when you add Administrators to a Search Service via the Manage Service Applications page, it removes the SPSearchDBAdmin role from the search service process account. That one did not happen in the other farm.
    At least other people have that one and I could just use the farm admin instead (still troublng of course).

    Ok,
    Here is the problem:
    When creating a mysite from powershell or script, apparently you can ONLY do this from a wfe (or a server running Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application in services on server).
    You CANNOT create mysites from script on your appserver if it is not also a Web Application Server. I confirmed the same is true in my test farm. I guess I was always running most of these scripts on the webserver.
    I searched all over and cannot find this documented anywhere.
    Who do I contact to have Microsoft document this?
    It's Thursday morning, I've been working non stop since Saturday morning so you don't have to :)

  • Playing an audio file from applet

    Hi friends,
    I have a problem to be solved .
    Please help me.
    I have to play an audio file from applet.When the applet loads it shold start playing .There is a progress bar in the applet it shold alsomove corresponding to that.
    How can i do that.Give me an idea.
    I know nothing about jmf.
    I am using j2sdk1.4,windows 2000 server.

    Andrew,
    Forgive my naivety, but i struggle with JAVA! I am desperately trying to create a JAVA plugin to SERVOY and have to date been successful with a few things. Record, Playback, convert to .spx.
    I am really struggling with implementing a rewind and fastforward function of the type you have. I thought it would be easy, but it appears not.
    At the bottom is the complete code from my class that is called by the servoy plugin wrapper,
    i had thought that adding some simple jump 500 ms would have been easy in something like this:
    public AudioStream js_FastForward (AudioStream as) throws IOException {
    !!! Line or two here to move the play head forward !!!
         AudioPlayer.player.start(as);
         return as;
    Can you give me any pointers to how i code that fast forward bit.
    many thanks
    David

    Hi Sandeep,
                     please check the trace file in SXMB_MONI,
                     which is avialble in response node.
                      if you analyze the trace, u can find-out....
                     error happend because of ehich field.
                    first copy the inbound xml from MONI and test it at message mapping.
                     then also, u can find-out the error.
    regards
    mahesh.

    1. Importing the XSD's successfully
    2. Developed the design and config part and also checked nearly 3-4 times regarding both REQ and
        RESPONSE Mappings.
    3. I already checked the link of WSDL once again...
    4. Even I found REsponse Interface once again...
    Still I am not getting where the error was ? Please guide me in detail in a right way in this issue.

    Hello,
    I already checked all those queues and context fields////
    Based on my Observation I found
    1) As I am unable to view the SOAP BODY I increased the RUN TIME Trace Level to 3 and LOG_VAlue to 3
    2) ANother most Important that I found later doing these settings are....
        I found Receiver Pay LOAD and I copied that entire pay load and pasted it in
        REceiver Message Mapping> Test Tab and Code->PASTED...and compared all those parameters
        in the TEST TAB and DEFINITION TAB in Tree View whether all the mandatory receiver mapped
        elements are  coming I mean passing from source or not...
    OBSERVATION::
    I found that for nearly 3 fields there is a difference when I compared on Tree View in DEFINITION TAB and also parallely in the TEST TAB Tree View which I got by copied from MONI,,,,
    see for example ::
    CENTRE <----
    > DISCHARGE DATE..
    For going to CENTRE..here I found that in DEfiniition TAB...
    Control Act Event-->Subject->document-->Component>Structured body> component> Section>Component>PatientCareProvisionEvent->EffectiveTime-->CENTRE
    But immediately I have gone to TEST TAB and TREE VIEW and I found that respective field CENTRE is posting I mean passing any value or parameter to Discharged Date or not...
    But I found that...
    Control Act Event-->Subject->document-->Component>Structured body> component> Section>Component-->_PatientCareProvisionEvent_
    This Implies that Effective Time and Centre are missing in the XML and I mean no values are passing to receiver right..
    In PI XSD 's it is there but in I think after Compiling REQUEST MAPPING and while in returning to RESPONSE MAPPING I mean whenever the Response is posting to SOAP WEBSERVICE it is unable to found those target elements and I think due to this...
    Am I Correct ?
    If that is the case...Let me know where the issue is whether in the data present in the WEBSERVICE created on target side or in PI Side..any issue...

  • Finally.... Video captured from applet in Vista!!

    Hello!
    Hurray!! finally I can see myself smiling and waving back in browser in Vista.
    I mentioned in another thread just a day earlier that I will post a new topic if I succeed in capturing from applets in Vista, so thats what I am doing.... This thread is all about how achieved it.
    I have seen many posts mentioning problems in capturing from applets in vista. I was also one of the sufferer. And most people including me blamed that on restricted sandbox of Vista. But surprisingly it was all about classpath.
    I think I mentioned in some earlier thread that the 'Java console' shows the classpath to be *"{JREHOME}/classes"* instead of the classpath specified in CLASSPATH environment variable. You can check that by pressing 's' which *'dumps system and deployment properties'* in the Java Console. You can check the classpath by noting the value of *"java.class.path"* field which for my case was"C:\\PROGRA~1\\Java\\jre6\\classes". This turned out to be the main problem. The applet was not accessing any classes from the real CLASSPATH instead it was considering the classpath to be jrehome/classes. So, now I had enough hint what to do next. I simply created a folder 'classes' in {JREHOME} and copied the jmf registry files to that folder. By registry files I mean *'jmf.properties'* and *'jmf.properties.orig'* files in *'{JMF Install}/lib'* folder (actually i don't which among them has got some thing to do with the registry but I copied them both). So, after doing this, all my capture applets, whether signed or unsigned started running. Earlier they all were throwing *"java.lang.RuntimeException: No permission to capture from applets"* exception even after I have allowed capture from applets in JMF registry. That was perhaps not taking affect because of classpath issues. So, thats the story.... if someone faces the same problem he can use this workaround or you can say hack ;-)
    Some questions which can be asked from me would be:
    1- Did you set your CLASSPATH environment variable correctly?
    ans: Yes, infact all my jmf applications were running correctly, the problem was only with the applets.
    2- What classpath other systems (e.g. XP) mention in the Java console ?
    ans: surprisingly, the same classpath that Vista mentions i.e. {JREHOME}/classes. I tested on XP-SP3, but it supposedly had access to the real CLASSPATH also.
    3- Is this problem really Vista specific?
    ans: Can't say... but it can be. It maybe the case that Vista does not allow access to real CLASSPATH, but this problem can easily be my system specific, it would be called a general vista problem if this happens on all Vista systems, I need volunteers for this test. captfoss, can you please test this on your system? :)
    4- Is this problem JMF specific?
    ans: Chances are low. I am going to test this by making my own test library and adding it to classpath and then try to access it via applet. If this fails then this problem is not JMF specific.
    Drawbacks of this work around:
    1- This can be a pain for ordinary users , copying registry files from JMF/lib to JRE/classes.
    2- Whatever you change in JMF registry would not be effective to the applets. As the old registry files are to be replaced with new registry files every time JMF registry is changed for changes to take effect in applets.
    The real big question:
    How can we force Vista to look in the real CLASSPATH? this is the real question, if this can be done just by changing some settings then all this workaround is useless :) I am looking forward to the answer of this question.....
    captfoss, I would highly appreciate your comments.
    Thanks for reading this rather long post.... :)
    Thanks!

    A couple of comments here...the answer is, in fact, no, you didn't set your classpath correctly. One, you're probably using a JAR file to run your applet from (I'm not an applet programmer but I do believe that a JAR is required) which do not use the environment's classpath, they use their manifest classpath. No, the applet was not jared.
    Second, I believe that the browser itself specifies its own classpath, which you cannot modify. I believe this would be considered a security feature...Both IE7 and firefox3 fail.
    "You have little control over the CLASSPATH used by a browser for an Applet"
    [http://mindprod.com/jgloss/classpath.html]
    Ok this maybe the reason, I will go through the link....
    2- What classpath other systems (e.g. XP) mention in the Java console ?
    ans: surprisingly, the same classpath that Vista mentions i.e. {JREHOME}/classes. I tested on XP-SP3, but it supposedly had access to the real CLASSPATH also. There isn't a "real" CLASSPATH, there is just the classpath stored as an environmental variable. It's no more or less real than the one in the browser.Thats what I thought.... but I think {JREHOME}/classes is the default class path used by the jre whether we set any CLASSPATH variable or not it would be there, something of that sort.....
    Lots of possibilities, but my best guess is that Vista doesn't let code running in the browser read environmental variables.Yes, I fully agree with this. I think I should file a bug report.
    4- Is this problem JMF specific?
    ans: Chances are low. I am going to test this by making my own test library and adding it to classpath and then try to access it via applet. If this fails then this problem is not JMF specific. Definately not. It would apply to any code that wants to access something on the classpath. You are right... as I said I would test it, I tested by making a small library, added it to classpath, made an application and an applet. As expected, the aplication worked while the applet failed.
    Any application with a custom classpath would be affected.I don't understand what you mean here, do you mean 'Class-path' header in jar manifest?
    I like the "installation requirement" part. I'd suggest looking into that. Alternately, there may be something in the security settings to allow access to environmental variables.I will try to look into both.
    I just tried this statement in applet:
    System.out.println( System.getProperty( "java.class.path" ) );It threw this exception:
    Exception: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission java.class.path read)
    I don't know what conclusion should I draw from this... this does mean applet has no right to know what the classpath is.... but this doesn't mean even jre plugin responsible for running applet does not know what the classpath is :)
    Finally, I want to say that due to some problems I could not post earlier, and I may not post for few more days. But I appreciate your comments and would appreciate more of them.
    Thanks!

    Hi Anindita,
    Request you to refrain from creating multiple threads for the same issue as this does not go well with the rules of SDN..
    Creating so many redundant copies is like disregarding the readers' attention to the original posts & also degrading the quality of forums.
    Currently, these are your threads on same problem in webdynpro-java forum:
    DropDownByKey
    DropDownBykey
    RunTime Exception in DrpDownByKey
    Please take care reg this.
    Good Luck!
