Runtime report from citadel

Been a while, but here i am again.
I am trying to retrieve the total time a point was active using SQL and Citadel.
Example 1 SQL:
SELECT LocalTime,"ETM{\\Mikedesktop\Server\PumpC\BC}" FROM TRACES WHERE LocalTime >= "2006-05-23" and LocalTime <= "2006-05-23" and Interval = "1"
0 record(s)
Example 2 SQL:
SELECT LocalTime,"ETM{\\Mikedesktop\Server\PumpC\BC}" FROM TRACES WHERE LocalTime >= "2006-05-23" and LocalTime <= "2006-05-24" and Interval = "1"
2 record(s)
5/23/2006   0
5/24/2006   .5313... (12:45:13)
Problem is, that time returned for the 24th is actually for the 23rd! It was on all day the 24th (which shows on the 25th!) so i could test it.
We could make this work with an EXTERNAL VB application, but it is required that we keep it "Lookout". ActiveX is not wanted, but unless there is a way to make this work, maybe the only way to go...
Thanks
Mike

You got it, if i view the trends data is correct for the 23rd, but using SQL i have to retrieve 2 days to get the data for the 23rd. To add more to the equation, if i set start day as 5/24 end 5/26, the data for the 24th shows INCORRECTLY, the 24th runtime shows as the 25th.
so rundown
5/23 runtime is on 5/24
5/24 is on 5/25, but 5/24 shows the WRONG DATA which is supposedly the 23rd.
Getting fun aint it

• How to select, with a SUD DIALOG, the range and the trace data to import from citadel

Hello,
I use DIAdem to generate reports from Citadel and I would like to create a script which asks the user to select data and it's corresponding range to import it from citadel. The script should display a dialog box (sud dialog), the user will choose the data and the range.
I would like to know if a function exists because up to now, I have not found anything suitable for this.
In my search i found this (see answer from Brad Turpin) http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=60&message.id=985&requireLogin=False
But I don't know how to automatize it with sud dialog
I am looking for information and examples on the subject.
Thanks

Hello,
I changed the data base path, when I run the script an error message appeared (see attached file). When I look the dataportal files, I see that the complet data is charge and not a window (see attached file). have you any idee?

• Runtime report generation from legacy Sales tool

My organization (IT) is looking to move the runtime contract/invoice reporting from an existing product and service sales tool (contracts and invoices are produced for the customer) to an environment where report template design and ownership can be maintained by the business and not IT and its vendor. Mostly due to the complexity involved in designing and maintaining these reports at the vendor for a tool that is not explicitly designed for reporting. Crystal Reports looks like it might accommodate this requirement. However, I'm having trouble located examples of implementation.
Specifically, we'd like our current sales tool, on user selection to generate a quote to customer, to output an xml data set and via rpc/web service/etc initiate a CrystalReports service, resulting in a docx (or similar) file back to the client.
Where can I find historical examples of such implementations? Or where might I find use case -> solution mappings that might address this sort of implementation? What about methods, ie, direct service call or via web service.
Thanks in advance.

I moved your query to the .NET Development - Crystal Reports forums because
1) the query is really not about Crystal Reports design
2) the query touches on web services or other application development
Your query will probably require a bigger discussion than what a forum can provide, but here is a small overview of how I see this coming together.
I think you need to define a bit better the following;
rpc/web service/etc
Which one? Why web service? Why something else? Any solution will require coding. Which language? With Crystal Reports you have the option of using SDK for .NET or Java. Which one is your preference?
output an xml data set and via rpc/web service/etc
If you decide to go with .NET you will have to create an ADO datset dll populate it with the XML data and then get CR to connect to the dll. Consuming an XML directly with the .NET SDKs is tricky and full of gottchas at best. If consuming an XML directly is the prefered way to go, use the Java SDK and then you will have to post your questions to the [Java Development - Crystal Reports|SAP Crystal Reports, version for Eclipse; forum.

This is my very simple inventory. On previous program I could sort by those items that did not have any figure in the row across. Then I could print a report of open inventory. Such as 149 Lidded Vase has not sales amount in the four colums across, thus it is open inventory. How can I capture all those items in one report?

• How can I Generate two different reports from single execution of Test cases in NI teststand

Hi,
My requirement is to generate two different reports from NI teststand. One for the Logging of error descriptions and the other report is by default generated by the Teststand. How can i generate a txt file that contains error descriptions other than that mentioned in the default report?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Do you need to do that just for these two sequences but not for other sequences? I don't see a problem to use SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError. Create this callback in both sequence files and configure them to log into the same file. SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError callback is called after each step of the sequence file if it has runtime error. You can access the calling step error information via RunState.Caller.Step.Result.Error property. Take a look to attached example.
The "other way" is useful if you need to log errors not for every step of the sequence file, but for some of them. This is more complex, because you need to create a custom step types for these steps. For the custom step you can create substeps (post-step in your case) which will be executed every time after step of this type executed. Then, this is you job to determine if error happened in the step, acces to step's error information is via Step.Result.Error property.
Also, be aware that step's post-expression is not executed in case of error in the step.

• Calling Report from a Form

Hi All,
I tried to call a report from a form (using this form as a parameter form)but unfortunately it is not working out for me. I used the run_product built in.
Could someone examine my code and tell me what is wrong?
DECLARE
pl_id ParamList;
BEGIN
pl_id := Get_Parameter_List('OPEN');
IF NOT Id_Null(pl_id) THEN
Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
END IF;
pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('OPEN');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_BUNIT',TEXT_PARAMETER, :BLOCK3.BUNIT);
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_AGRMT',TEXT_PARAMETER,:BLOCK3.AGRMT);
add_parameter(pl_id,'DESTYPE',TEXT_PARAMETER,'SCREEN');
add_parameter(pl_id,'PARAMFORM',TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO');
run_product(REPORTS, 'APRIL11', SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,
FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
END;
null

Olan,
Your code looks good, and it should work.
Maybe you should check your report to make sure it is under oralce report path, user-defined parameters in the report are same name, type,lengh as in the form parameters, and correct system parameters.
good luck.

I am facing an issue that is if i run a report from SAP B1 using Crystal reports AddOn, it misses out some data.
Few Initial pages and a last page appears in the report. But when i run the same report using Crystal reports Designer it shows the actual number of pages. I have tested the above discussed issue on the server & workstation machines.

Dear All,
I would like to explain the above posted problem in detail. I need your generous help, I am facing an issue that is for Crystal Reports which are based on 'Financial Templates' data is missing out. For Example, If i run the report using 'Crystal Reports Designer' it is showing the whole Financial Template based on 5 pages, but if I try to run it from 'SAP Business One'
using 'Crystal Reports AddOn' it is missing out the data e.g. it is showing Page 1 and then Page 4 & 5.
Page No. 2 & 3 is missed out. For your information it was running fine from the past two months now I am
facing issues in running it. Rest of the reports are running fine.
I have tried reinstalling the Crystal Reports Runtime and Crystal Reports AddOn for SAP B1 on
Client machines, but the problem is not resolved yet.

• PDF reports and forms11g, Weblogic, call report from form, parameters

Hi All.
I had difficulty to put to work reports 11g on pdf format. this is how I solve it.
I hope help any of you and also anyoe can correct me if Im wrong.
1. I have installed an configured the weblogic server 10.3.3, also Forms, Reports, Portal, Discoverer 11.1.1.3.0 and database 11.2
2. I re-compiled my forms and reports 10gR2 on 11g, also the pll libraries.
3. This is how I call the report from my form, I add parameters to a parameter list called PL then invoke the rp2rro prucedure that is located at rp2rrp.pl library:
PL := create_parameter_list(TDATA);
add_parameter(PL,'PARAMFORM',TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO');
add_parameter(PL,'ORIENTATION',TEXT_PARAMETER,'PORTRAIT');
add_parameter(PL,'EMPRESA',TEXT_PARAMETER,:GLOBAL.COMPANY);
add_parameter(PL,'NB_EMPRESA',TEXT_PARAMETER,:GLOBAL.COMPANYNAME);
add_parameter(PL,'DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,:CG$CTRL.DESFORMAT);
rp2rro.SETREPORTSSERVER(:GLOBAL.REPORTSERVER);
add_parameter(PL,'SESION',TEXT_PARAMETER,TO_CHAR(SESION));
Add_Parameter(pl, 'DESTYPE', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'SCREEN');
rp2rro.rp2rro_run_product(REPORTS, :CG$CTRL.REPORT_TYPE, SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM, PL, NULL);
destroy_parameter_list(PL);
4. when pr2rro gets the parameter list (PL) did not find the Desformat parameter that I sent from the form. so I edit the pr2rro.pll library. this is the zone of the code edited:
(just added the number var "Desfn" that the get_parameter_attr() will need above.
PACKAGE BODY rp2rro IS
/* Package variables */
rp2rroDesformat varchar2(30);
rp2rroDesname varchar2(200);
rp2rroDestype varchar2(30);
rp2rroReportOther varchar2(2000):='';
rp2rroComm_mode number := Synchronous;
rp2rroReportServer varchar2(100);
rp2rroVirtualDir          varchar2(100);
rp2rroReportsInterface varchar2(30);
/* this line by ingenio*/
Desfn                    number;
5. a couple of lines above, you can find this:
(here I added get_parameter_attr(mparamlist_id,'DESFORMAT',Desfn,rp2rroDesformat); to asign the value of the parameter called Desformat to the rp2rroDesformat var)
PROCEDURE rp2rro_run_product(product NUMBER,reportFile VARCHAR2,commMode NUMBER,engine NUMBER,fileLocation NUMBER,mparamlist_id ParamList,display VARCHAR2) IS
BEGIN
/* Handle only calls to Reports */
/* this line by ingenio*/
get_parameter_attr(mparamlist_id,'DESFORMAT',Desfn,rp2rroDesformat);
IF product = REPORTS THEN
Handle_rp2rro_run_product(product, reportFile,commMode,engine,fileLocation,mparamlist_id);
END IF;
END;
Its now working fine with PDF, RTF, HTML, Delimited formats, Not with EXCEL(spreadsheet) Im working in that.
I accept any help.
Thanlks
Edited by: Ingenio on Nov 29, 2011 2:44 PM

I solved my problem editing the rp2rro.pll library,I debugged the library and I found the format sent by forms was missing, so I catch it and set it directly:
GET_PARAMETER_ATTR(mparamlist_id, 'DESFORMAT',vnumb,vvalue);
setDesformat (vvalue);

Hi there,
Most of the things do not come for free. You need to spend some effort in order to obtain results.
Check run_product, run_report_object built-in.
Also, download the documentation library and go through:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/devsuite.html
The example of how to use the run_product directly from the book "Oracle Forms Developer Form Builder Reference, Volume 1 - Release 6i.pdf":
RUN_PRODUCT examples
** Built-in: RUN_PRODUCT
** Example: Call a Report Builder report, passing the
** data in record group ’EMP_RECS’ to substitute
** for the report’s query named ’EMP_QUERY’.
** Presumes the Emp_Recs record group already
** exists and has the same column/data type
** structure as the report’s Emp_Query query.
PROCEDURE Run_Emp_Report IS
pl_id ParamList;
BEGIN
** Check to see if the ’tmpdata’ parameter list exists.
349
pl_id := Get_Parameter_List(’tmpdata’);
** If it does, then delete it before we create it again in
** case it contains parameters that are not useful for our
** purposes here.
IF NOT Id_Null(pl_id) THEN
Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
END IF;
** Create the ’tmpdata’ parameter list afresh.
pl_id := Create_Parameter_List(’tmpdata’);
** Add a data parameter to this parameter list that will
** establish the relationship between the named query
** ’EMP_QUERY’ in the report, and the record group named
** ’EMP_RECS’ in the form.
Add_Parameter(pl_id,’EMP_QUERY’,DATA_PARAMETER,’EMP_RECS’);
**Pass a Parameter into PARAMFORM so that a parameter dialog
will not appear
**for the parameters being passing in.
Add_Parameter(pl_id, ’PARAMFORM’, TEXT_PARAMETER, ’NO’);
** Run the report synchronously, passing the parameter list
Run_Product(REPORTS, ’empreport’, SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,
FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
END;
Hope it helps,
Michael

Above code doesn't show any error but report is not generated in the provided location.
Is modification to be done in the above code?
Please suggest.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
as stated before if the desname value is pointing to the client filesystem it wont create the output there because Reports Server is not running on the client, it is running on the server as this is the way it is.
If you want to save output to the client you need to use the options mentioned before.
For testing purposes only change your code as follows.
e.g
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESNAME',TEXT_PARAMETER, 'c:\'||vACNAME||' '||:BLOCK50.DOCDATE||'.PDF') ;
As you can see I changed the original folder name to C:\ .. (I hope your reports serve is running on a Windows machine if not then changed to /tmp). Run your form and check c:\ or /tmp and see if you see the report output there. If so,
than your code is fine the only problem is what I have already stated.

• How to run a report from WCF

hi,
I am trying to run a report from a WCF service application, and then render it in PDF Format to a caller WPF application. But I cant get it! In more detail, this is what my app should do
1. from WPF, call a web service procedure, pass a report name, report path and parameters. Report is store at the same server where Web Service is installed
2. WCF procedure loads report, set parameters, retrieve data from DB and renders it as an array of bytes
3. WPF gets the array, save it into a PDF file, then open it.
this is the code of the WCF procedure.
Function DownloadCRReport(codEnte As String, connString As String, reportDir As String, reportName As String, Parameters As Dictionary(Of String, Object)) As Byte() Implements IGesiService.DownloadCRReport
Try
Dim bytes As Byte()
Dim infile As BinaryReader
Dim fs As FileStream
Dim rep As New ReportDocument
Dim RepAddress As String
logPath = reportDir & "log\"
sb = New StringBuilder()
timestamp = Now.Year.ToString & Now.Month.ToString & Now.Day.ToString & Now.Hour.ToString & Now.Minute.ToString & Now.Second.ToString
logFileName = timestamp & "_" & reportName & ".txt"
logFile = New StreamWriter(logPath & logFileName, FileMode.CreateNew)
logFile.WriteLine("----
Date and time: " & Now.ToString & " -
If My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists(reportDir & reportName & ".rpt") = False Then
Throw New Exception("file RPT non found in: " & reportDir)
End If
RepAddress = reportDir & reportName & ".rpt"
logFile.WriteLine("rep address: " & RepAddress)
rep.Load(RepAddress, OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByDefault)
logFile.WriteLine("load rep")
If rep.DataSourceConnections.Count > 0 Then
rep.DataSourceConnections.Item(0).SetLogon("usr", "pwd")
logFile.WriteLine("data source connection")
End If
For Each i In Parameters
rep.SetParameterValue(i.Key, i.Value)
logFile.WriteLine("param: " & i.Key & " - " & i.Value)
Next
Try
fs = rep.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat)
logFile.WriteLine("export to stream")
infile = New BinaryReader(fs)
logFile.WriteLine("created binaryreader")
bytes = infile.ReadBytes(CInt(fs.Length))
logFile.WriteLine("render pdf. fine")
logFile.Close()
Return bytes
Catch ex As Exception
logFile.WriteLine("vbCrLf & ex.Message & vbCrLf & ex.InnerException.Message)
logFile.Close()
Return Nothing
End Try
Catch ex As Exception
logFile.WriteLine("vbCrLf & ex.Message & "-" & vbCrLf & ex.InnerException.Message)
logFile.Close()
Return Nothing
End Try
End Function
I detected that error occurs on rep.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat). I should point out that the same procedure works under WPF application. In the WCF server I installed CR Runtime engine for .NET framework (13.0.9.1312) and CR version for Microsoft Visual Studio (same version). Moreover, all DB operations are stored into the report, so I should not pass any dataset, just parameters.
Anyway, just to begin, I tried to call a simple report with just two string parameters and no queries, but I alwais get error ("An exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in MyApp... Object reference not set to an instance of an object)!
How can I make it work? thanks for help

hi Ludek,
Im trying to change DB connection info at runtime for all of the report tables. this is the code I used in my Web Service
Function DownloadCRReport(...)
If rep.DataSourceConnections.Count > 0 Then
Dim conn As New ConnectionInfo
Dim tabLogon As TableLogOnInfo
conn.ServerName = "10.10.15.90" 'IP address of DB server
conn.DatabaseName = "MyDB" 'Database name as set in TNSNAMES.ORA
conn.UserID = "newuser"
conn.Password = "newpwd"
For Each t As Table In rep.Database.Tables
tabLogon = t.LogOnInfo
tabLogon.ConnectionInfo = conn
t.ApplyLogOnInfo(tabLogon)
logFile.WriteLine("changed logon tab. " & t.Name)
Next
rep.Refresh()
logFile.WriteLine("changed data source connection")
End If
'set parameters
If Not IsNothing(Parameters) Then
For Each i In Parameters
rep.SetParameterValue(i.Key, i.Value)
logFile.WriteLine("set parameter" & i.Key & " - " & i.Value)
Next
End If
fs = rep.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat)
End Function
that comes to an error on rep.ExportToStream: "Unable to access database".
Running web service in debug mode, I noticed that, after t.ApplyLogonInfo(tabLogon), the new ConnectionInfo has "password" property empty. Maybe this could cause the error, or is there some mistake in the new connectioninfo?

• How to Run a Report from Desktop in Oracle 10g without using Web

Hi Friends,
I want to run a report from desktop (report which is developed in oracle report developer 10g), for that i have created shortcut. But when i double click on that shortcut it gives me followig error
"Report name, database connection, and reports server name (unless using local runtime, i.e. reports server call is local) properties must be specified for successful report run"
the path which is defined in the shortcut of report is as follow
D:\DevSuiteHome_1\BIN\rwsxu.exe rcptreg_dt userid/password@ORC
pls help me to sort out the problem.
Thanks & Regards.

Hello,
You can use rwrun. Since 9.0.2 , it is no more possible to DISPLAY the output on the screen , but you can generate a file (HTML , PDF , RTF , ..) and then open the file generated.
EX: rwrun report=c:\temp\myrep.rdf destype=file desname=c:\temp\myrep.pdf desformat=pdf userid=scott/tiger@mydb P_1=param1_value ...

• How to run a report from a form?

i created a report from reports 6i. now i want to design an interface in oracle forms and want to call all information from report according to paramaters which i designed in oracle forms.
i found some information that i can do that using Procedure Run_Report or Run_report_object but i could not achieved it.
Can anyone explain me that step by step? Or anybody made an example before so a connection from form to report and send to me as a muster. probably i can find a solution for me too..thanks a lot..

Abdetu thanks for your quickly reply but i have to say that i could not understand it very clearly because i don't have any experience about Forms and Reports. Therefore i am trying to ask my question again with examples.
I made a report and now i am trying to connect this report to my forms. My forms has 2 search item. Account_no and Date and i have a Run button.
If i write date "Oct" and push button "Run" i want to see whole list of Oct from Report. Therefore i made a trigger "When-Button-Pressed" and i wrote this and now my question about the parameters.
In Forms under menu parameters should i create 2 parameters parameter01 and parameter02. and now my questions:
1) After i create parameters should i write as a Parameter Initial Value
2) Should i extra add paramters to reports too?
declare
v_Report_Id Varchar2(20) := 'RAPOR_NAME';
v_Parameter_List Varchar2(15) := 'FormParameter';
v_Parameter_List_Id Paramlist;
v_Return_Code Number;
Begin
v_Parameter_List_Id := Get_Parameter_List(v_Parameter_List);
If Not id_null(v_Parameter_List_Id) Then
Destroy_Parameter_List(v_Parameter_List_Id);
End If;
v_Parameter_List_Id := Create_Parameter_List(v_Parameter_List);
Add_parameter(v_Parameter_List_Id, 'PAR_01', TEXT_PARAMETER,:Parameter01);
Add_parameter(v_Parameter_List_Id, 'PAR_02', TEXT_PARAMETER,:Parameter02);
Add_parameter(v_Parameter_List_Id, 'PARAMFORM', TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO');
Add_parameter(v_Parameter_List_Id, 'DESTYPE', TEXT_PARAMETER,'SCREEN');
Run_product(REPORTS,'v_Rerpot_Id',SYNCHRONOUS,RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM,v_Parameter_List_Id,null);
End;
