There is some information about RV042(G) PPPoe and DMZ which not documented and even not published in community forum:
How DMZ works if WAN1 configured for PPPoe (e.g. ADSL) uplink port with dynamic address, gateway and dns assigment (and WAN 2 configured for DMZ).
DMZ port got PPPoe pass trough to WAN1 uplink port?
DMZ port is behind a ppp stack?
DMZ port is behind a nat?
I think DMZ port is not behind a firewall.
How I configure DMZ port with static address if uplink wan port has dynamic address?
How I configure DMZ port with static address if uplink wan port has only one dynamic address (assined at authentication) not a all address range?
How change operation above if WAN1 configured for direct ethertnet connection with DHCP address assignment (and WAN 2 configured for DMZ)?

Any data alongside the TM backups on the same volume cannot be backed up. To backup data that resides on the same physical disk spindle as TM backups you MUST separate the data to be backed up from the TM backups. This can be done by partitioning the disk into two pieces. Volume1/partition-1 can be "Time Machine Backups" and Volume2/partition-2 can be for your other data.
In the TM Pref panel's Options... tab simple ensure Volume2/partition-2 is not in the exclusion list.

Port forwarding and DMZ refuses to work properly on WRT54G wireless router.

I have a network setup on the wireless WRT54G version 8 (with latest firmware) router and port forwarding and DMZ refuse to work correctly. I'm trying to use bittorrent and connect my xbox360 to my computer and neither work properly even after setting up port forwarding in the "Applications and Gaming" tab.

now, I've experienced this type of problem before. On a different linksys router a year or 2 back I remember the DMZ never working on that one either and I eventually had to buy a d-link router which worked perfectly. I'm only using this wireless router because it's my roommates and he brought it up. Somebody please explain to me why this isn't working correctly. I am becoming more and more frustrated as I lose faith in linksys routers. Thanks

Did you tired upgrade of the firmware on the router??
Also after upgrade reset & reconfigure the router for few seconds ... so that the firmware works properly for longer time ....

Better process for introducing new features and explaining how they work

There are all kinds of new features being added to the Creative Cloud app but knowing what they are and learning about how they work isn't the most user friendly process. The current process is read the release notes after updating to a new version. The release notes should hyperlink to the related features in the product help. It would be great if there was a "What's New" section for the Creative Cloud app itself with new releases which included an introduction to new features just like there is for the desktop products.

This is a poorly explained reason about why is so important having a loupe in Photoshop. I've not also, used the best example, but I will. This belongs to the ADDITIONAL FEATURES: Loupe/Magnificator View:. Also, I will try to make my english clrearer, but here it goes:

RV042G - PPPoE and DMZ Range

Is there anybody at Cisco that could escalate a change in the firmware with engineering? I have called, emailed, posted on this forum, etc., about this and have been told it would be sent to engineering and I have never heard anything further.
The issue is: I have a DSL business account that connects using PPPoE. I have a /29 IP block that is routed through that connection. When I set WAN 1 to PPPoE, I can't set a range in DMZ. It REQUIRES a Static IP on WAN 1. If I set the DMZ range and then change the WAN 1 back to PPPoE, it will connect and it does work, however I can't trust it since there is a check in the firmware. I would be willing to beta test this if I could get someone to assist in getting the change made to the firmware.
I think this would be a simple change to a router than could be a big deal. There are tons of small businesses that are going this route and there aren't a lot of routers that will accommodate this without spending a ton of money.
ANY help would be appreciated!!

Cindy - Thanks for you continued interest in helping me solve this. It seems to be a relatively simple change to make. Not requiring that WAN 1 have a Static IP when the DMZ is set to an IP range, would solve the issue. PPPoE static accounts will route multiple public IPs through a WAN connection so it isn't necessary to always have a Static IP type . I know you are attempting to simplify the interface for novices, but there needs to be an expert mode that allows people who know what they are doing to not be frustrated.
Sadly, I have a list of ticket numbers and I am not sure which one was for this issue. It should be under my username sp1152211811 and it would be the last one. The call was made 3-4 months ago and the tech indicated he would escalate. I also emailed a support engineer - who had sent me the RV042G and told me it would work - and explained the issue. He told me to call and put a ticket in which I did. I should have written down the badge number of the tech. He acted like he thought it was a great idea and the RV042G should have worked that way to start with.
Last night I switched to a TP-Link router, however I am open to going back to the RV042G if this issue could be resolved.

RV320 - PPPoE and DMZ

I really wish someone would FIX the programming to allow a PPPoE WAN1 type to use a DMZ range in the same subnet. I have gripped about this for years and keep getting ignored. This is prevalent in many of the cisco routers/security appliances and it is annoying. It is in the RV042G (which seems to just be an older version of the 320) and the ISA550 which I have been able to trick it into working.
I just purchased a RV320 thinking it would be fixed and alas it is not. If I could get past the error dialog, I would probably be fine. I have a public /29 block that is routed through a PPPoE connection. The block is in the same subnet, but because the connection is PPPoE, the WAN is programmed to REQUIRE a Static IP on WAN1 to allow a DMZ in the same subnet.
Are there any Cisco Engineers listening that can get this fixed!!!! I - and many others who use this type of connection - would be eternally grateful.

I have opened several support cases and even corresponded as well as spoke to an engineer. A year has gone by and nothing.
The servers have public addresses so the one-to-one isn't doable. I am running some services that require the server to have a hard-coded public IP
It would be great if there was a SMB device that would allow a public and private segments and route between them to the internet

Mail and OS: how they works with dns

Hi to all.
I need an help to understand.
I have a domain, "pippo.it"; this domain has an MX set in this way:
pippo.it MX mail.pippo.it
mail.pippo.it A 151.99.0.100 ; Wan 1
mail.pippo.it A 91.45.98.76 ; Wan 2
With this setting I'm sure that if one line does down, my email server is always available for the other line.
I made this setting and I watched the server and all seems to be running fine; with Wan 1 down, I always receive emails.
The problem I have is when I try to download emails from a client.
IF my mac, during resolving of mail.pippo.it, receives the IP that belongs to the line down, it's not able to try the second one.
Can anyone explain to me HOW the OS and Apple mail works in this situation?

No problem with Calendar but Mail keeps syncing with the server. The activity window is full all the time - apparently re-syncing though no new mail is downloaded. Rang in but they have no idea what's causing it and have sent diagnostic to engineers. In 10.8, just a quick burst of activity when mail was checked for but now it's constant. As a result, emptying the Deleted Items mailbox is very slow. Am worried about the amount of bandwidth being eaten up.

I think I may have taken on a bit more than i can handle with this project.
I have been asked to create a "Picture in Picture" situation, What i am wanting is to have the background of the File Static with the food menu consistently rolling over coming from a .txt file so it is easy to change the wording and prices, while having adds (up to 50) running on the other half of the screen cutting in and out of Bloopers. I have seen in done once before and was told it was all done in flash, can anyone please help me out, even a tutorial would be great, I have tried the Variable text to no avail, does this need a starting code??

According to my understanding it should print the line inside the procedure 'pr' every 4 seconds, but I don't see any output being shown. Can someone help me understand what exaclty is wrong with my code. I'm using Toad for oracle.

One more question - I'm trying to bring in one more functionality. Lets says - There is a job that needs to be executed every month at a particular time. I schedule it, but I want this job to be executed 'n' number of times.
For example - There is procedure that is called in the scheduler. Since its processes lot of records - I'm breaking down in chunks of data - Say 5 chunks. Now when its scheduled each month at a particular time - it should ideally execute 5 times in order to complete the job for that month. How can this be achieved ? I thought of using max_runs, but that might end the job and never repeat it again.

First try Resetting it: Hold down the home and sleep button, ignore the red OFF slider, wait for the Apple logo then let go.
If that does not work, Restore your iPhone in iTunes from your backup.
If that still does not fix it, Restore your iPhone and a new phone (not from backup) and see how it works. If it is doing fine you have a app you are using that is probably causing your problem. Load them one and a time until the problems recur and you will have found the one that is a problem.

Itunes and iphone: how do you separate music and video on the purchase list

Hi, I buy my music and video on itunes and synchronise it with my iphone. When listening to the music from the iphone, the videos are unfortunately mixed with the music, which does not make any sense: it should be dispatched in two different play list. The playlist I use is called "purchases" but I don't have any "only music" play list. When I go to the Iphone parameters, I have not selected the function "include de video clips", so why are they mixed???

From the description you gave you were treating recent purchases as a play list (It can be but as you discovered it's not the best use for it.)and that's what was causing the problem.
Most of us can't get all our music, not to mention videos, into an iPhone so we create play list so we can sync to them.
Set up a few for practice, say 25 songs each, and see how that works for you.
Or try the "Genius" feature.
Once you get the hang of it you can create your own mixes for all moods and occasions.
Tired of a play list? Delete it, it won't harm your library, and create another.
Do the same with your videos, only selected one are to be synced.
You haven't been making full use of your iTunes/iPhones set up.

A7rii EFCS and Canon+adapter lenses: Work ok? Manual seems to indicates "no".

From the a7rii's full 324 page owner's manual, topic 172: 1. MENU → (Custom Settings) → [e-Front Curtain Shut.] → desired setting. Note:When a lens made by another manufacturer (including a Minolta/Konica-Minoltalens) is used, set this function to [Off]. If you set this function to [On], thecorrect exposure will not be set or the image brightness will be uneven. This seems to indicate that with a non-Sony lens (such as Canon + adapter), the Front Curtain Shutter may not operate correctly. This Sony newbie has the understanding that "shutter shock" is greatly reduced or eliminated with EFSC (electronic first curtain shutter). I'm expecting to be able to use my Canon EF lenses with a FotodioX adapter on my pre-ordered a7rii and have little or no "shutter shock" issues. Are my expectations unrealistic? Are EFCS and "electronic front curtain" different? I'm mostly ignorant on how Sony cameras work. I wouldn't think the way the shutter operates would depend on what lens was attached, but what do I know? Have new owners with delivered a7rii & Canon lenses found "shutter shock" to be a non-issue? Is so, what settings are appropriate? What about "legacy lenses"?

Good question. The way the shutter on the A7R II works is this. The A7R II, and most modern interchangeable lens cameras, provide a Live View that comes from the image projected onto the main image sensor, which means that the shuttter is open. When you fully depress the shutter button, the first shutter curtain closes and immediately opens again, starting the exposure. When the exposure time has elapsed, the second curtain closes, ending the exposure, and immediately reopens to provide the Live View. That's a lot of movement that can cause the "shutter shock" which can cause other issues. The Electronic Front Curtain Shutter option foregoes the movement of the first curtain, instead using an electronic shutter to start the exposure, which will lessen the movement and the "shutter shock". While the mechanical curtain must physically move across the sensor, which takes some small but measurable amout of time to do, the electronic shutter is instantaneous. As a result of using the EFCS, the top of the frame may be exposed a tiny bit longer (probably 1/2000 second or so) than the bottom of the frame, which is why that cautionary note appears inthe Instruction Manual. I have no idea why it would not happen with Sony lenses but would with any other lenses, but there it is. What I can say is that, if you're using relatively slow shutter speeds (1/250 or slower), you probably wouldn't notice it. And if you're using flash, you couldn't see it because when using a flash, the exposure is dependant not on the timing of the shutters but on the duration of the flash. I suggest that, if the "shutter shock" is an issue for you, try the EFCS with your adapted lenses and see how it works.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
