RV042 issue remote management access

Installed on two RV042 links with adsl load balance, everything works fine, except that an error occurs during a time I can access the remote management via Web RV042 both the LAN and the WAN, only after a while when accessing the page appears to login, but when you enter your username and password the browser is trying to give an error, the connection to the internet works normal again and I can only access the remote management to disconnect and reconnect the RV042, but updated the firmware the error continues, my RV042 is:
RV042 V03
Firmware v4.1.1.01-sp
I changed the default https port (443), to other ports but the error continues, someone had this problem?

  • WRT610N Remote Management Access disabled and yet I could access??!

      Hi,
I have the WRT610N, latest firmware (.10, early 2009). I noticed something when I accessed my FTP from work.
I used the IP address and the "folder" to see my files in a web browser (like 82.2.2.2/MyftpFolder).
But when I typed the IP only, I could see the router config page, despite the fact that I disabled it in "remote managment access"...
Anyone else have seen the same problem?
My ftp user is "admin" or I gave it all rights and access, by the way!

    Hi,
I just had the same happen to me.
I have a WRT54GL and I connect to my Exchange server daily through Outlook Web Access. Today when I came to work I could'nt connect. I tried my domain to see if the default website was down also and to my horror ended up in the router management gui. This have never happened before, I have the router redirecting all port 80 traffic to my web server. And since I had disabled the remote access to the router I never changed the password so the door was wide open. I will contact Linksys about this because as far as I understand it's either a serious bug or I've been hacked.

    Hm Thanks!
The "problem" was that I was at work when I noticed that and my router is at home...so when I typed my wan ip (82.2.2.2) I saw the GUI.
Nope I did not try to another computer either inside my LAN at home or from a WAN IP, as I have no more job, and no access elsewhere...
So I can not reproduce what I saw until I get an outside connection! I was just wondering if anyone else encountered the same.

  • RV042 - restrict remote managent

    Hi there,
is it possible to protect the remote management with a firewall rule if it is enabled?
I enabled the remote management with port 888, but i cannot restrict the access from external hosts.
Thanks a lot for every help.

  • RV042 - protect remote managent

    Hi there,
is it possible to protect the remote management with a firewall rule if it is enabled? I changed the port to 888 and set a rule to deny all traffic to this port, but i can login to the router from external.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Christian, thank you for using our forum, my name is Luis I am part of the Small business Support community. When remote management is enabled, you can use a web browser to access the configuration utility from anywhere on the Internet. In a web browser, enter http://:port, or enter https://:port if you have enabled the HTTPS feature. The highlight part is the important section that I want to clarify, If you want to restrict the access from WAN to your router you must disable the HTTPS feature in order to do that. Also if you disable the HTTPS feature, then users cannot connect by using QuickVPN.
Please go to Firewall > General and disable HTTPS option, then try to access your router remotely again.
I hope you find this answer useful

  • Odd firewall issue, remote management works on 1 server, not the other

I've enabled port forwarding, made sure I mapped address to mac ports in the DHCP client settings (to ensure a "static" address), and choose the correct IP address for port forwarding. Then, I enable remote management on my snow leopard laptop then connect remotely (from outside lan) and it works. To the reverse, my 10.5.8 OS X server set up with the same items (although the menus are slightly different given each are diff versions), change port forwarding IP addresses on router, and try outside the lan from the client to connect to the server. Failed. Of course, remote management works fine on the LAN in both directions, only fails from snow leopard client to 10.5.8 server when not on same lan.
    So, to illustrate:
10.5.8 (client) ---> internet --> router --> snow leopard laptop (server) WORKS!!
snow leopard laptop (client) --> internet --> router --> 10.5.8 (server) FAILS!!!
client --> LAN --> server (in either direction) WORKS!!

  • RV042 v3 Remote Management Port

I have a brand new RV042 v3 that I just updated to the latest firmware (v4.2.1.02) and have stumbled across an anomaly... I can only access the router from the WAN port using port 80.  I happen to have it set to port 8080, but that doesn't work; I have to use standard port 80.
I have two other RV042 units running older firmware and they work as expected and follow the port that is filled in.  This one has me puzzled and wondering if this is a bug in the firmware.

Yes, HTTPS is enabled, so the way to access the router is https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, however, to make it less visible on the open internet, I want to use a less popular port, like port 8080.
I just tried my older routers and I guess they have the same bug, though I would've sworn they worked properly in the past.  The too are accessible by either https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx or https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080.
I would have thought by defining a Remote Access port that it would close all other ports, but I guess not.

  • CISCO ASA config issue (Remote management ASDM/SSH/etc)

I cant ping the device from 10.23.1.x either, I can ping it on 10.23.2.x though.

I have a couple ASA devices than I want to be able to manage across our network. I have two devices, Device A-10.23.1.10 the other is on 10.23.2.10, if I remote into a machine on the 10.23.2.x network I can connect through SSH and ASDM, but on the 10.23.1.x network I can not connect.. I have the ASDM configured to accept connection from both netowkrs. any idea why it does not work, the remote ASA is on the local/inside netwkr just on a diff subnet.

  • Error in Remote Web Access - "An unexpected error occurred. Please try again. If the problem continues, contact the person who manages your server."

I have set up the RWA and I can log in to the web console with my server account. However when I click on any of the shared folders I get this error:
An unexpected error occurred.  Please try again.  If the problem continues, contact the person who manages your server.
Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this?
    Regards,
    Maciek

I had this very same issue with one of our customer's servers that was running Windows Server Essentials. I ended up calling Microsoft about the issue. I hope this helps someone. This originally appeared on my blog: http://techspeeder.com/2014/01/14/remote-web-access-error-an-unexpected-error-occurred/
    Troubleshooting Steps:
    1.  We were getting unexpected errors while accessing shared folders remotely
    2.  The tech found IIS handlers were missing
    3.  She went to IIS > server level ( parent level) and added managed handler mapping  :
    Name: svc-Integrated-4.0
    Request path: *.svc
    Executable: System.ServiceModel.Activation.ServiceHttpHandlerFactory, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35
    4. Added script mapping:
    Name: svc-ISAPI-4.0_64bit
    Request path: *.svc
    Executable: windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll
    Name: svc-ISAPI-4.0_32bit
    Request path: *.svc
    Executable: windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework32\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll
    5. Ran IISreset.
    6. We were able to access resources in Remote access, then.

  • Simple file server accessible remotely with managed access. Do I need ML Server for this?

    Hello,
I have a  Mac Mini that will be dedicated to serving 15 folders of documents to 7 people. It would be great if each person had their own password and I'd like to be able to decide what folders each user will have access to. The people need to be able to access the files from home and on the office network.
Do I NEED to run OS X server for this Or can i accomplish this in OS X?
I have to get this running quickly and I may not have time for the ML Server learning curve (even though it has been simplified).
I tried to get ML server running on my machine a few weeks ago but got stuck. If setting up ML server with JUST the file server is dramatically easier I will try again. Can anyone please suggest a tutorial that takes me through simply setting up a remotely accessible file server with managed access with ML Server?
    V

OS X client can serve files to remote clients, via both SMB/CIFS and AFS; via the Windows and OS X fiel services.  That's cheap, uses hardware you already have, and works fine.
Most NAS boxes don't do distributed authentication.  Typically, you have credentials for the box at most.  Some of the mid- and upper-end boxes do offer distributed authentication, but that means having that authentication around.  At the low end, an Apple Time Capsule is a reasonable NAS box, and you can add an external disk.   And can be used for backups via Time Machine, too.  The mid- and upper-end boxes from Synology have a reputation for capabilities and flexibility.  There are (many) other vendors.
I'm not a huge fan of LogMeIn for various reasons that I won't get into here, but that service does work for accessing hosts.  I don't know if that allows access to NAS directly, but I'd tend to doubt it.  You'd need to check with both LogMeIn and with the specs for whatever NAS box you're using.
Given the choice, I'd use a VPN.
Using a VPN does mean you can control — at the VPN level — who can access your private network, so that can provide a broad-brush form of access control to your NAS device or your OS X client or your OS X Server box, if you go that route.
I don't prefer to openly serve files to the internet, as the underlying protocols have occasionally had security issues and vulnerabilities, and the internet gremlins will find and will poke at any open ports and any accessible file servers.  I prefer to configure these services via VPN.
VPNs are also more involved to set up, where LogMeIn can be simple.
As mentioned previously, I'm also not a huge fan of the host-based VPN servers in OS X, though those do work.  The gateway boxes I've been using in the last year or so are probably not a good choice for a user that isn't familiar with networking  — the boxes provide a user interface that very definitely expect the user to understand IP and routing and related, but is both self-consistent and quite powerful — and they're cheap for what they can do, and they do work nicely.  ZyXEL ZyWALL USG series.  If you are evaluating any of these firewall boxes, then I'd definitely encourage downloading the manuals and making sure you can understand the available information.  The server-grade firewall boxes are almost inherently flexible and thus complex devices.
One of the easiest ways is to work with somebody that does this sort of thing to sort through the options and requirements and trade-offs available here, and potentially to set up your VPN or NAS or server configuration for you.  (Disclosure: I offer this.)

  • Remote Management Multi-User security issue

    Hello,
This issue concerns both Mountain Lion and Lion servers. If I'm not mistaken, the issue is also officially described by Apple in the Lion release about Remote Managemenr vs Screen Sharing features.
My question is simple and yet unanswered after hundreds of Internet searches:
Why on earth a non-Admin user has the right to Share and Control the screen of another (Admin) user being logged-in a (Mountain) Lion server? It looks like the trick is that "Remote Management" instead of "Screen Sharing" is active. So what? Why a non-Admin should be allowed at all to view another users desktop just by typing-in his/her own credentials?
Am I missing something or is Apple really out-of-security context? Our admin devoted significant effort to arrange access for the shared directories. For what? To find out that the Screen Sharing security under ARD Management (Remote Management) is non-existent?
    Am I terribly wrong?
Any feedback will be highly appreciated.
    D.

  • Sharing - Remote Management - Allow Access = Broken

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I was unable to connect to my new Mountain Lion remote desktops.
The upshot is that the Sharing -> Remote Management -> Allow Access settings are not AD/LDAP aware and it only works with local users now.
I had to turn off Remote Management and use Screen Sharing, where Allow Access is fully aware of local and non-local accounts.
    Remote Managment -> Allow Access:
    Screen Sharing -> Allow Access:
Your other option is to "Allow All Users" but I didn't want to do that.

I use the Vine Server for reduced color support. In my case it is my Mom's iMac 300 miles away and she has a slow DSL connection.
My experience with Mac OS X VNC server and client are that they work together very well, however, they do not play as nice with 3rd party clients and servers.
Since you are using Windows and by definition a 3rd party client RealVNC, I would suggest you install Vine Server. You can even configure it so it listens on port 5901 so it does not conflict with the Mac OS X VNC server.

  • Remote Web Access (remote desktop gateway) issue with WHS2011

I have been using Remote Web Access on my Windows Home Server 2011 for several years with no problems. Over the past several weeks, though, I have been receiving an error when I try to connect to a computer through WHS's Remote Web Access:
"...the Remote Desktop Gateway is temporarily unavailable." Interestingly, when I try to connect from a Windows 8.1 computer, I just get a dialog box that says "Initiating connection," but the connection is never established. I cannot
find any relevant errors in any of the event logs.
I have read numerous articles relating to WHS configuration and port forwarding, but these do not have any information that addresses my situation. I have ports 4125, 80, and 443 forwarded to my Home Server. As I said, everything has been working fine with
this configuration until several weeks ago -- I suspect it might have something to do with a .NET Framework 4.5 update that was recently installed (and that has now been uninstalled), but that is the only change I can think of.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi,
As you have commented that after installing .Net framework you are facing this issue. So after uninstalling still you are facing the same issue. Apart from installing .Net framework 4.5, have you installed or done any other change on your server?
Here you can check that “Remote Gateway Service” is running. Please check and restart the service if it’s stop. Apart you can check below 2 article for more detail step.
    1.  Can’t connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server is temporarily unavailable error via SBS 2011
    2.  This computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Terminal Services Gateway server is temporarily unavailable (Try to perform the steps as suggested for
    WHS 2011)
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks,

  • Remote Manage cant be accessed by Admin

I am running SLES 11 SP3 / OES11 SP2 and for some reason the admin account can no longer access the Remote Manager but the Root user can. I did an "id admin" and it says No such user.
I checked in Imanager and it shows that the admin account has LUM values. I used to be able to access it but not sure when it stopped working.
    What could be wrong?

  • 11.3.1 remote manage group issues

Ever since we upgraded from 11.2.3a to 11.3.1 when I add people to my remote
manage group they are not given the rights to VL the devices folders and
users. I confirmed that all of the device folders and user source are still
configured under device management configuration. All previous upgrade users
are still functioning as normal. I had to add these rights manually to the
two new users I added post upgrade. Previous to the upgrade I could add
support people to this group that were limited to remote control and view to
all devices and all users (user source eDir) without me having to do
anything extra and the rights tab would populate on its own. Is this a bug
    or by design change?

To be honest I was fumbling around with it and basically copied what was
already there from the pre upgrade users to the post upgrade users. I had
actually never explored the assigned rights tab before. So I think what your
saying is the populated rights entries that I saw that only had one VL
option checked in and the rest denied is a new feature populated by the
upgrade then I'm back to square one. Specifically I had to add under
"assigned rights" the device right to the context "/devices" and VL view
and all the rest of the options deny for this new user to see the
workstations. I never had to do that before. before I just added the user to
the remote mngt role and they were able to do only what they needed. Until I
manually added the assigned rights she saw nothing. Is this the way it is
now? the roles no longer give what is needed?

  • Questions regarding Outlook Web App, Remote Desktop, Remote Web Access and VPN Access

    Hi there,
I want to ask a series of questions regarding Outlook Web App, Remote Desktop, Remote Web Access and VPN access and was hoping whether you could help me. Below are my questions to ask you.
Outlook Web App - What do I need to configure in order to get my Exchange account to work with the OWA app on my iPhone? Is Office 360 required on the server that hosts Outlook Web App in our organisation? When I configure the settings and
connect I get the following message "couldn't connect -  We couldn't connect to the server. Check your information and make sure it's correct." I can connect with other devices using Outlook Web App.
Remote Desktop - What do I need to configure in order to connect to my computer at work using Remote Desktop on my Windows Phone? When I configure the settings and connect I get the following message "Connection error - We couldn't connect
to the remote PC. Make sure the PC is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled. Inquiring minds may find this error code helpful: 0x204" I can connect with other devices using Remote Desktop. There are currently no
RD Server settings in the Remote Desktop app on the Windows Phone and the only way I'm to connect to my PC at work is via Remote Desktop and not to be confused with the one by Microsoft, however the app is on a trial basis and times out every 5 minutes and
can only be used once every hour unless I purchased the app for £2.99 off the App Store but would ideally like to use the Microsoft Remote Desktop app though.
Remote Web Access - What do I need to configure in order to get Remote Web Access on my Windows Phone using a URL? When I log in using a URL I get the following message "There is a problem with this Web page. Please contact the person who manages
the server" I can connect with other devices using Remote Web Access. Also how do you enable the background option for Remote Web Access? I know how to do this in Remote Desktop but not in Remote Web Access. Remote Web Access works on PCs regardless
being onsite and offsite and on my iPhone, the same issue also occurs with my Nokia 5230s regardless of whether I'm using Opera Mobile or Mini or the latest Nokia Browser.
VPN access - How do you configure VPN access on a Windows Phone using VPN? I cannot find the protocols PPTP, L2TP, SSTP and IPsec in order to configure VPN access on the Windows Phone apart from IKEv2.
    Many thanks,
    RocknRollTim

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    RocknRollTim
