RV320 and RV325 Feature Request

Hello Cisco Small Business Community.
We are a Cisco Select Partner and have started using RV320's and RV325's with our customers.  As we are implementing these deployments, I have noticed there are a few features I would like to see added to the product.  I've listed them below.
Urgently Needed Feature Requests:
1.  Allow a subnet mask in the 255.255.0.0 range for LAN VLAN's.  Many of our customers use a 10.x.x.x range for subnets and many use a 16 bit subnet mask to give them plenty of room to create both static and dynamic assignments.  For example, subnet 10:  10.10.0.0/16 with a range of 10.10.10.1-254 for dhcp dynamic leases, and 10.10.0.1-254 for servers, and 10.10.1.1-254 for printers, and 10.10.2.1-254 for networking gear, etc.  None of these networks have more than 254 devices on them, but the extra IP range availability is nice because it allows us to help keep their networks organized.
2. The ability to create service groups for firewall and NAT rule creation.  There are often times when we need to group several services together and create firewall and NAT rules for them.  This would simplify setup and implementation.  An example of this feature on Cisco Small Business Products was on the ISA550.
3.  The ability to have the RV320/325 to serve as the NTP server for the network.  Most small business customers need NTP server functionality, and the logical place to stick this service for many of these networks is on the firewall.
4.  The ability to specify any RFC DHCP option.  We have some need to be able to specify several additional DHCP options than the ones hard coded into the firewall dhcp server pages.  In addition to the options the DHCP servers on the RV320/325 already includes, the common ones that we often use are "Time Server," "Log Server," and "Time Offset."
6.  The ability to specify a domain search list and for DHCP clients.
7.  The option to register DHCP clients with the specified DNS server (including the on-box DNS Forwarder).
8.  The ability to tweak Firewall Session Settings (like in the RV220w and ISA550) and TCP/UDP Timeouts.  If full control is not an option, then may four choices such as:  "Conservative" -- keeps TCP/UDP connections alive for the longest period of time, "Normal" -- normal TCP/UDP Timeouts, High Latency -- Keep TCP/UDP connections alive for a longer period of time.
9.  Additional Diagnostic/status screen information:  -- CPU usage for 1 minute, 5 minutes, and 15 minutes, -- number of Firewall Sessions/States, --Firewall Temperature, -- Real Time and RRD based traffic graphs for 15 minutes, 4 hours, 8 hours, 1 day, and 1 week,
10.  The ability to pull Firmware Updates directly from the Cisco support site onto the firewall.
Nice to Have Features:
1.  VRRP on both WAN and LAN interfaces.
2.  The ability to answer DNS helper requests.  What I mean is to be able to set the on-box DHCP server up to serve as the DHCP server for non-connected subnets
3.  SSH and Telnet command line access for basic troubleshooting (top, pftop, nbtstat, reboot, etc.)
4.  The ability to backup and restore parts of the Config file, e.g. just the VPN setup or just the firewall rules
5.  OSPF Dynamic Routing Support
With some of the advanced features, I wouldn't mind needing to buy a perpetual "advanced" license for an extra $50 to $100 (e.g. for VRRP, OSPF, SSH access, etc.).
I hope to hear some responses back from Cisco Product Support on these items.

Hello vreid47362,
I'm quite a bit surprised to see that we have both the same idea: provide our feedbacks to cisco to increase our product usage.
Here's mine list:
Custom services
- I was a bit surprised when I have seen for the first time the embedded services list : there is some that I'm sure that nobody use (HTTP and HTTPS secondary), and some usefull network protocols which are missing : NTP, NNTP, NFS, SAMBA, BONJOUR, SSDP, etc.
It could be interesting to start router with those embedded services.
- An option to select both the TCP and UDP services could be very usefull : for now, when we add a service, we have to specify protocol in the following list : TCP, UDP, IPV6.
If I wants to add a rule for NFS without take care of TCP and UDP, I have to set up :
- two custom services, one for UDP, one for TCP
- two custom rules, one for NFS TCP, one for NFS UDP.
If we have two networks or VLAN, we have to define 4 rules...
- Increase the custom service description length could be helpfull : for now it's a problem if we wants to add more than 11 characters.
- If we add a custom service by error, we are unable to remove the generated field : field say that it expect something. if we do not wants to loose previous fields set, we have to save it with false values, and delete after it. Just boring.
Setting up firewall rules for the first time
- The "View logs" button is located on the bottom of the log tab; if we wants to view logs, we have to scroll : it's very boring when we're setting up our rules : we have to go to the firewall tab, and if there is something wrong, we need to go to log tab and scroll.
If you add a shortcut to the log from the firewall rules tab could be very usefull.
Managing firewall rules on the time
- Be able to add a description of the rules defined could be helpfull : I've set all my rules now, but in few months when I'll come back to the interface, I'm not sure to understand all meaning. A description to explain the rule's object could be usefull.
- If we log something in the firewall logs and if we want to remove the a logging trace type, we have to pass on each rules we think it can log something. It could be interesting to view logging option from the grid: it'll help us to earn time.
- Be able to filter rules by VLAN, protocol, ports or the rule's logging state from the rules grid could be helpfull.
Double Wan management
- Add an autodetect feature for the available bandwith could be very helpfull : accoding with values detected, you can help to configure more easily the router
Double wan protocol binding and multiples VLAN
- When I set up the protocols binding configuration I'm was very boring to have to set up rules for all outgoing protocol rules a interface : for example,  wants to set up all outgoing SMTP protocol on the WAN1 interface, we have to select SMTP and add 1.1.1.1 au 223.255.255.254. If we have multiples VLAN, we have to repeat this rule for each VLAN subnet mask…
Set up an option for all outgoing traffic could be very helpfull.
DHCP Subnet masks more than 255.255.255.x
Like vreid47362 said, I'm also interested in this feature: For now, subnet masks defined for the DHCP Vlan are provided from a preconfigured select box. If we wants to choose something other than those provided, we can't. It could be interesting to add own own subnet mask (like for example 255.255.0.0).
Kind regards
David

  • Copy and paste feature request

    Please God... uh, Mr. Jobs,
When in text edit mode and while viewing web pages etc., please add a button with a clipboard icon that switches into a text select mode that allows you to drag over text to select as well as double and triple tap sentances and paragraphs. Then we'll be able to select either a copy, cut or paste button.
This phone is a great tool. However, without the ability to copy text from anywhere it is very limited as a creative writing, blogging and research tool.
Hope to see it implemented soon.
    Thanks
Does, anyone have a link for feature request submissions specific to iPhone?

I'd love cut & paste too. Otherwise how do you maintain/organize/re-organize lists on it easily...errands, tasks, to-dos, shopping lists, etc.
You can ask Apple for iPhone changes via this link:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Though if you're requesting hardware changes for iPhone v2 you may want to wait a week (or a month?)...they're probably going to be inundated right now by requests for software changes to the current iPhone.

  • SG300 and SG500 Feature Request

There are two features I would like to see added to the 300 and 500 series to make them even more useful in small business deployments.
    1.  The ability for the switches to act as DNS forwarders and to respond with entries in the host table to DNS requests when in layer 3 mode.  It looks like most of the required components for this are already on the switches.  They have the ability currently to enable DNS, specify a local domain name and have a host table.  The only thing left is to enable the switch to work as a DNS forwarder and respond with static host entries added to the host table.  I would envision the controls having two components:  1.  A checkbox to "Allow Switch to respond as a DNS proxy." and 2.  A check box on the services page to allow "DNS Queries."
This would be a nice benefit for small businesses that have the router running in layer 3 mode that don't have an on-site dns server.  This feature is also important because several of the Small Business Series Routers only have the dns forwarder component and don't have a local dns host table that will return requests like: hostname.localnet.
    2.  The ability to to some basic policy routing and protocol binding in layer 3 mode. We have some deployments where we would like to do some basic policy routing at the switch instead of waiting until the the traffic reaches a router or firewall.
Thanks Cisco Small Business for reading over these feature requests, and thanks for making great small business switches!

  • FEATURE REQUEST: Enhanced Texture Options in FW

Recently, a forum user was asking how to change the color of a texture in Fireworks to red or blue. In particular, he/she was struggling with attempting to apply a texture to a white object, and it wasn't showing up.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1006694?tstart=0
The question got me thinking about textures, how they're created and how they're applied. Textures are a unique and distinctive feature of Fireworks. On the one hand, the interface for textures is very simple to use and almost magical; on the other hand, it's surprisingly limited. The concept is great, but the implementation seems only half-baked.
With this in mind, I'd like to suggest a few simple ways that textures could be made more fluid and versatile in Fireworks.
    First, a little background...
    WHAT IS A TEXTURE?
In the world of Fireworks, a texture is basically a type of pattern that's applied to an object. However, unlike a pattern fill, textures include transparency and integrate with the existing fill content (color, gradient or pattern). They're suggestive of textures in the real world, which are often tactile and defined visually by light and shadow.
Texture graphics are most commonly grayscale ("black and white") in GIF or PNG format. Applied within the application, the graphics are converted "on the fly" to white-on-transparency. If the Transparent option is checked, the graphic is converted into a sort of mask, making the "textured" areas invisible instead of white.
    And that's about it.
So what if you'd like to apply a dark texture to a white object? Sorry, it can't be done. What if you'd like to apply a texture in color? It can't be done. What if you'd like to reverse or invert the pattern of the texture? Can't be done.
Well, in fact, these things can be done, but not directly. They require workarounds such as cloning the object and placing the clone above or beneath the original, applying textures as pattern fills (instead of as textures) and adding effects like Color Fill, Invert, and Convert to Alpha, or editing the texture file directly, saving out a new copy, etc. In short, there are unintuitive ways to accomplish these goals that lead to bloated effects lists and layers or that require extra time and care.
    HOW CAN TEXTURES BE IMPROVED?
First of all, does it make any sense that textures are applied exclusively in white? Not really. In the real world, a texture can be defined not just by light but by shadow. And even shadows can have color. This means that, at minimum, it would make sense to allow for the application of a texture in black, and, at maximum, in any chosen color.
Secondly, textures are relative. They represent change to an existing surface. Sometimes, it might make sense to highlight the texture itself; other times, the surface around the texture. This means that being able to quickly reverse the figure-ground relationship of a texture would be a very handy feature.
With the above concerns in mind, I've devised three 'user interface' scenarios, presented here in order of most conservative to most extreme. The first scenario is the least powerful but still doubles the number of possible outcomes (compared to the existing interface). The second scenario may be the most logical of the bunch and represents a modest evolution of the existing interface, while increasing the number of potential outcomes even further. The third scenario allows for the application of any color to a texture but also represents the biggest change to the existing interface; that said, it's also quite compact.
    Scenario 1: Invert option
The idea here is simply to add an Invert checkbox to the existing options. Checking this option would convert white to black, allowing for the application of dark textures to white or light-colored objects. In "Transparent" mode, this option would invert or reverse the figure-ground relationship of the existing texture.
Scenario 2: Dropdown menu plus Reverse option
Here, the Transparent checkbox is replaced by a dropdown menu that includes 3 mutually exclusive options: White, Black, or Transparent. Checking the "Reverse" option would invert the figure-ground relationship of the texture. This scenario allows for 6 possible outcomes in place of the existing 2, and is actually more logical than the first scenario, which conflates two options.
Scenario 3: Color picker plus Reverse option
Here, the Transparent checkbox is removed, and in its place, a color chip/palette is added to allow for the selection of any color to be applied to a texture. (Choosing Fill: None would create Transparency.) Again, a "Reverse" option would invert the figure-ground relationship of the texture. This scenario differs most from the existing interface but is quite compact and allows for the greatest number of outcomes.
    SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
I've submitted a feature request to Adobe's official site:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
When it comes to bugs and/or feature requests, every vote counts. If you care about this issue, I encourage you to submit your own feature request to the above URL, referencing this post if desired. Feel free to copy and paste the feature request below or write your own. (Be aware that there is a 2,000 character limit to the "issue description" of a bug report or feature request, and the following report is very close to that maximum.)
    FEATURE REQUEST
    Product name: Fireworks
    Product Version: 12.0.0.236
    Product language: English
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature: Enhanced texture controls, including the ability to apply textures in black and/or color (instead of white), and the ability to reverse or invert texture.
How would you like the feature to work? Three possible implementations have been outlined in this forum posting:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042206?tstart=0
The basic scenarios are as follows:
SCENARIO 1: An additional "Invert" option. Checking this option would convert white to black, allowing for the application of dark textures to white or light-colored objects. In "Transparent" mode, this option would invert or reverse the figure-ground relationship of the existing texture. This scenario would allow for 4 options in place of the existing 2.
SCENARIO 2: Replace Transparent checkbox with a dropdown menu (White-Black-Transparent) and a "Reverse" checkbox. The dropdown menu offers 3 mutually exclusive options, while "Reverse" inverts the figure-ground relationship of the texture in each case. This scenario would allow for 6 options in place of the existing 2.
SCENARIO 3: Replace Transparent checkbox with a color chip/palette and a "Reverse" checkbox. The color palette would allow for the application of a texture in any color, while choosing Fill: None would create Transparency. This scenario would allow for the greatest number of options.
Why is this feature important to you? Textures are unique to Fireworks and potentially very useful, but their implementation is incomplete. The use of 'white only' means that textures cannot be applied to a white object. Inverting a texture or applying a texture in color requires advanced workarounds and can lead to bloat. The suggested options would make the feature exponentially more powerful and intuitive.

Thanks, Jim! It is a very blog-like post. (I still haven't gotten around to starting a blog but keep thinking I should.)
I figured the clearer and more thought-out the presentation, the greater the likelihood it might get implemented. Also, I was originally stuck on Scenario 1 as a solution, and writing this helped me see other options.

  • Delivering on your top feature requests!

    Dear Adobe EchoSign community --
As Fall starts to settle in, [at least in the Northern Hemisphere], I wanted to share progress we've made on your feature requests.  As context, our team sits down weekly to review your top feature requests that come from our community sites, our support, and our 1:1 conversations. Year to date, we've already delivered more than 80 of your top feature requests: Enterprise administration, API flexibility, improvements to our fields and more.
A partial list of the most-requested features delivered include:
Refreshed and new clients for Android and iOS
New sign-only role : control who has signing privileges, and who can send agreements
    Batch user creation: enable/disable accounts
Ability to update & edit your published widgets
Advanced data retention policies and configuration
Field alignment & form field sizing during form authoring
Text Tags for creating hyperlinks in documents
Specify text color, font and font size for form fields through text tags
Repeat fields at the same location with the document via text tags and form authoring
EchoSign signature stamps on documents through text tags and form authoring
EchoSign Transaction ID on documents linked to the EchoSign Audit Trail through Text Tags and form authoring
Field labels for radio-buttons, check-boxes and links from text tags
Enable/Disable form fields through conditions during e-sign
Enhance reporting to export read-only metadata included with the agreements
And a huge amount of work with the REST API Set:
    Sending documents with phone authentication
    Creating widgets with multiple counter-signers
    Replace signers through the API
Allow signature delegation through the API
    and more.
Over the remainder of the Fall, our key focus areas include the new Salesforce1 release, expanding our enterprise administration capabilities, building out the REST API, and the constant work on the SaaS infrastructure to increase performance, availability, and security.  We have more to here.... we know!  So keep the feedback and ideas coming.   And thank you for your engagement and use of Adobe EchoSign.  Hope to see you at Dreamforce '14.

    Evita,
Yes, you can still vote on Accepted. (You can even vote for "Scheduled for release...", because sometimes we need to move features from one release to the next)
Accepted means that it sounds feasible to do and we can do it, but "when" has not been established. Please add votes to help that decision.
Rejected Just that, we have no plans to do this. I don't revisit rejected on the Exchange.
(However, some features that have been rejected have been discussed on the forum and we've reconsidered. We have also changed "rejected" to "accepted" on previous occasions, but only based on discussions here. Some features rejected have very poor explanations as to the problem users are trying to solve)
Open We haven't read them or made any decision on them.
Awaiting Community Votes means just that. Someone has proposed a feature and no-one else seems to be interested. With the long list of features, we do need to prioritize and some features requested are obscure, so we want more feedback from the community. More votes and feedback from the community helps. We sometimes get 10 points from some folk and zero from others for the same feature.
Please note that except for the Open features, the others we have touched and added feedback.
Problems I have with the feature requests is lack of clarity in the request and more than one request described in a single request. The extra features get lost and others can't vote on them.

  • Spaces Feature Request?

I used to use VirtueDesktops under 10.4 for a virtual screen experience, and switched over to Spaces in 10.5, so far, I'm very happy, but I have one issue I'd love Apple to resolve and a feature request:
    - Finder error messages don't always "stick" or accompany the application that generates them (from a user point of view), which can make them annoying to find when they get hidden behind a currently active application window you're working in in another Space, or another Space entirely. The Finder / desktop experience should have an option to pop up application error messages over all other windows and automatically take you to the Space it's in, so you can avoid going on a search for "where's the error window" to get control of the application back.
    - I like the feature with Spaces where you can Click-&-Drag an application with the CTRL key, press a number, and off the application goes to that Space, but that only seems to work from 1-9. For those of us that can count in hexadecimal it'd be neat to be able to use CTRL-A through CTRL-F with this feature (in hexadecimal, A=10, B=11, and so on) to get at the rest of the Spaces available (I use all 16). While CTRL-A through CTRL-F have meanings in other contexts, I think it'd still be a good idea to enable that for this feature.
I'm sure there are tricks I don't know too that may get me around these issues - comments welcome, please!

If you want to report this to Apple, send a bug report (or enhancement request) via its Bug Reporter system. Join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. You'll get a get a Bug (ER) ID number; thus, starting a dialog directly with engineering.

  • Voting on SQL Developer Feature Requests

I've been reviewing the features requests and of the different statuses, should one still vote on those marked as Accepted? I'm assuming yes to give them more weight to get them looked at sooner? Are those marked Rejected NEVER looked at again? What's the difference between those marked Open and those marked Awaiting Community Votes? Aren't those 2 statuses the same thing?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Portfolio features request:

some small features would greatly enhance the value of Portfolios:
    1) filename aliases so that we could create the names to display  instead having to display actual  filenames.
    2) Portfolios of Portfolios - incredibly useful if we could stack levels of portfolios. I discovered that it's 'almost' possible. We can create and access a portfolio inside of a portfolio. We just can't navagate back to the higher level portfolio once we've drilled down to a lower level one.  Maybe it needs an extra tool bar button that would action us to the highest folio level? I also noticed that calling a portfolio from within a higher level portfolio displays a "portfolio empty" message, even though it clearly is not empty. That would need to be fixed as well.
    3) Question?  Are the file icons displayed within  portfolio presentations 'removable'  and/or can other images be substituted for them?  (I'm a new user)
If not, that would be a great feature, too. The general idea behind these ( 1 and 3) feature requests is, from the clients point of view,  our presentations will be far more professional if we have the option of supressing any extraneous  (acrobat generated) display and can display only what we want seen.  For presentations to technical people it might be desirable to display filenames and such, but for others, such things only distract and  lower the production values of our work.

I completely agree with you. Also mine company, which bought and used "Presenter 7", and would like to upgrade to "Presenter 8" or "9 Presenter," But in the absence of this feature video capture for the sidebar is not acquistera "Presenter 9 "if you do not back the functionality and probably will try alternative software that do this.
So me too request to Adobe to reinsert this functionality in "Presenter 9" or alternatives of equal simplicity (eg the inclusion of a button "Capture Video" as in "Presenter 7" next to the "Recorder".

  • Feature request for JSF i18n.

First of all, bear with me for my english is poor.
Utilizing JSF's i18n support, I created a small site that can display each of
its pages in three different languages: English(en), Spanish(es) and Korean(ko).
The page's view defaults to english but a user can view the pages in other languages, so the site can be viewed according to the user's preferred language. The user's language preference is stored in a session-scoped backing bean (preference.locale) so that the tag
<f:view locale="#{preference.locale}">will show each page in the user's prefered locale.
But the problem is this: If the user visited my site, selected the Korean
locale and found some content interesting, he would probably copy the page's URL
http://mysite/myapp/somedir/page1.jspand send it to a friend saying,
"Hey buddy! go to this URL and read the article. Don't worry, you will surely
understand the text because it's in Korean language."
Then, his friend will reply saying,
"Are you crazy? The URL you've given me is not in Korean, it's in English."
Of course this will be the behavior of my site because the "preference" backing
bean that determines the site's locale lives only in session scope; and, without
this backing bean set to another langauge, all pages will initially be in English
    which is the default locale.
But this problem could be fixed if the default locale of each page in my webapp relies not on a backig bean but on some pattern in the URL. For example, when the page
    http://mysite/myapp/somedir/page1.jspis accessed with this URL
http://mysite/myapp/ko/somedir/page1.jspthe <f:view> of my application will default to Korean, indicated by the /ko/ pattern in the URL. It may also be http://mysite/myapp/en_US/somedir/page1.jsp
that defaults to US English locale or http://mysite/myapp/es/somedir/page1.jsp
    that defaults to Spanish locale.
I think if JSF has this feature, bookmarking problem on internationalized site could also be fixed and the contents of the website in different languages can also be indexed by search engines.
    I think, URL=accessibility.
I don't want to use the querystring thing as the solution for this because of the reason that's hard for me to explain.
If you get what I'm trying to express and this feature request sounds stupid, please educate my ignorance. If anyone has an idea of a better solution for this,
    please share. Thanks to all.

You could use a Phase listener to check the current
    URL.
I would rather use a URL with a request parameter, as
    follows:
http://mysite/myapp/somedir/page1.jsp?locale=koIn your Phase listener, I would look for the locale
parameter in the URL and set the local accordingly if
it exists, otherwise, I would use the default one.
Does that help? The pages in my site contains a lot of links and I dont want all those links to look like this:
    go to page 1
    or
    <h:outputLink value="page1.jsp">
    <f:param name="locale" value="#{preference.locale}"/>
    </h:outputLink>
that's why I wanted all views in my pages to just rely on the preference.locale which is a session-scoped backing bean. But this approach has the problem I stated in my original post. I think it would be very nice for JSF if the <f:view> will be set by default according to some pattern in the URL (but not like query string).

  • Feature Request: Some DB Admin stuff.

If there's one thing I could really use it's the ability to clone a user, create a tablespace, grant a role ... in other words some of the stuff that Enterprise Manager does but without the gigabyte download. I'm sure there must be other developers out there who need to set up users for testing and fiddle with sandbox databases but who don't do it often enough to be fluent in the commands.
    Anyone?

That said - you'll be able to grant roles to users you create in 1.1. However, you will not be able to clone users, so please add that and other feature requests to the Exchange.
    Thanks

(A.) Contact App adds current date as birthday. When I edit my contact, the current date gets listed as the birthday in local contact.
(B.) Duplicate telephone numbers listed. Telephone numbers show up twice in my Contacts (e.g.., if I have the contact's cell saved in (000) 123-4567 format and the person has the number listed in Facebook, I get a duplicate entry of +10001234567).
(C.) Telephone numbers and emails are not actionable in Web pages. In webpages, I can't click on telephone number to call (e.g., I look up a phone number for a restaurant). I should be able to easily call or copy into the Phone App or E-mail App.
(D.) Auto capitulation for words on the word substitution list is wrong. For example, when the word substitution contains more than one word. I have "ru" change to "are you" but if the first letter is capitalized (R) then both words become capitalized words (Are You). I used to have shortcuts like "mysig" to create email signatures with legal disclaimers but I can't do that now.
(E.) Backspace delete doesn't work consistently. The Shift+Delete function seems only to work after moving the cursor. This feature is the Alt+Del action to delete words after the cursor.
(F.) All Emoticons do not list. Emoticons do not all fit on the the two screens (lists) of emoticons. I.e., two columns are missing from view and can be seen when sliding (swiping) between the lists. Also, sometimes when I select an emoticon, it doesn't correspond with the picture of the one I intended. I believe this error is related. As a separate note, there should be a way to see the underlying symbols of the emoticon. (Often times, other people don't have BlackBerrys so I'd like to know what symbols would be sent--my prior 9800 would show the characters as i scrolled through them).
(G.) BlackBerry keyboard doesn't always work in input fields. E.g., certain Web pages. (I found a work around; two finger swipe up from the bottom makes the keyboard appear)
(H.) Sent messages stay unread. This seems to be an issue when an app sends an email (e.g., share article). The email with the sent indicator (checkmark) stays bold and I have listed 1 unread email. I can't mark as read/unread but if I delete the sent email, my unread message gets cleared.
(I.) Contact already added but I get the option to add instead of view contact. For some contacts, I get the option to add to contacts in the action menu cascade when that person is already in my address book. This bug is for emails and text messages.
(J.) Cannot call from text message. When I hold a text message and select call under the action menu cascade, the OS opens up the phone app but doesn't call.
(K.) Composing messages by name. When composting messages, the input must be by first, middle and last name. It should be, instead, by string and include nickname. E.g., if the person's name is "Andrew B. Cameron" I must type the name in as such. I can't type in "Andrew Cameron" or "Andy Cameron."
Features Requested and Suggestions for Improved User Experience
    (In no particular order)
    1)      Option to reply in different ways from the Call List. Be able to select a name in a call list and have options to call, text or email the person. The action menu allows calls to other numbers but I can't choose to text or email the contact instead. Sometimes, I missed a call and want to reply via text because I’m not able to talk. (Long hold on the Torch 9800 trackpad button brought up the action menu allowing me to call, text, view history, add to speed dial, e-mail, delete, etc.)
    2)      Option to reply in different ways from the Hub. Related to above, when selecting an item in the hub, have the option to contact the sender or caller with multiple different ways.
    3)      Only show number once in contacts application. Tap on the number to bring up the "action" cascade menu with options to call or text the number. Why is the same number listed twice (once to call and below again to text it)?
    4)      Timestamps for individual text messages. I can't tell exact time on individual text message if it comes in near the time of another text. All messages are in one "bubble."
    5)      Ability to select MMS or text for a message. Sometimes I write a text longer than 160 characters and I prefer it to be sent in one message (i.e., MMS mode) rather than being broken into one or more standard text messages. I had this ability with my 9800.
    6)      Send button should be moved for text messages!!! Why the heck is it right underneath the delete button?!? Or next to the period button? I often times have accidentally hit send when composing text. It's very annoying and embarrassing. (Also, what happened to the ability to hit enter for a return carriage to next line?)
    7)      Bigger magnifying glass. My finger is often over the area I need to place the cursor. I find it difficult and erratic to place the cursor.
    8)      Select all option. Add the option to select all text in action menu cascade.
    9)      E-mail recipients and message headers. Difficult to tell if you are one of many email recipients. Can we have a way to pull the email down to see the list of recipients rather than have to click to expand the header info? I know this request is a little picky, but that's how it was done in the previous BlackBerry OS which I preferred; it is easier and faster to pull the e-mail down and 'peek' to see which e-mail box received the message, message status, from and to fields. This change would be consistent with BB's flow/peek rather than click.
    10)   Browser navigation. Hold down back arrow to get a list of recently visited websites similar to a desktop browser.
    11)   Dark/Night mode. A night mode (maybe in the drop down menu) to change all the white and bright backgrounds to black or dark which would be helpful when reading/viewing things at night in bed/etc.
    12)   Number of contacts. Ability to see how many contacts I have.
    13)   What happened to groups or categories? I'd like to have back the ability to filter or see categories and also a way to contact everyone in a category. E.g., family or friends or coworkers, etc.
    14)   Shutter sound mute. I was at a wedding and wanted to take pictures during the ceremony but the shutter would was too loud.
    15)   East Asian Language Input. I bought my parents two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones over the weekend because they need Korean input (and the Kakao talk app). (BTW, S3 is a great phone but I prefer the Z10 after having the weekend to use the Android phones).
    16)   Ability to freely place icons on the homesreen. Currently, icons are forced top left-right-to-bottom. I prefer to space my icons out.
    17)   Add a contact to the homescreen. I'd like to place a shortcut (similar to a Webpage) to the homescreen for a contact which will open up the contact. Android allows this feature and so did my previous 9800.
    18)   Search Contacts by nickname. The contacts app doesn't allow me to search by, e.g., Andy, even if I have that as my contact's nickname. The previous OS allowed this type of search which was very helpful.
Finally, as a note, I've been using the BlackBerry Z10 for the past 2 weeks and it's a great platform. I just bought two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones over the weekend for my parents so they could use the Korean language input and related features so I spent a lot of time with the Android platform, setting it up and teaching them how to use it. The S3 is a great phone too.
I prefer, however, the way BlackBerry has done their OS 10 and the integrated management of messages.
It's too bad that BB doesn't have Korean input and apps like Kakao Talk or I would have considered it for them.
The BlackBerry 10 is a great platform and I look forward to the continual improvements that will only make the experience better.

    This is a great post.
I couldn't have written it myself better.
I'm also in dying need of Korean input as I can't communicate with my Korean friends.
    But I second every point.
I hope the tech teams are reading this.

  • Feature Request:  Standard Keyboard Navigation in Media Browser and Project Panel

It's been a while since I've had time to submit a feature request.  I've wanted to see this one for a while.  If you agree, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/
System Navigational Keyboard Shortcuts in Media Browser and Project Panel
Windows (and I'm sure Mac) has a standard set of keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts for keyboard and mouse.  I'm so used to using them in daily browsing (both in Windows Explorer and in any web browser) that missing them in the PPr Media Browser, or getting a different result in the Project Panel, is still very jarring and slows my workflow (even after having used Premiere Pro [again] since version CS4).
I propose that the Media Browser and Project Panel should honor the OS defaults for keyboard and mouse folder/file navigation.  A few of the standard (Windows) keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts are listed below (listed in order of most helpful to my own work):
    Moust Back Button = "BACK"
ALT + LEFT ARROW = "BACK"
UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT = steps through the various folders within the view.
UP, DOWN walks through the directory tree while RIGHT expands the currently selected folder and LEFT contracts that directory (twirl down, etc).
    ENTER opens a folder.
ALT + UP = "Folder Above"
ALT + RIGHT ARROW = "FORWARD"
    F2 Renames a folder
ENTER "takes" that name to the clip. (current functionality used ENTER to rename a file/folder).
    ESC cancels the renaming operation.
Pressing Enter on any piece of Media or Title, etc should take an "expected" action acording to it's context.  (i.e. ENTER on a video clip would load it inot the Source Monitor.  ENTER on a Title would open it in the Title Editor.  ENTER on a folder would take us into that folder).
These functions exist in both Windows Explorer as well as most modern Web browsers.  When browsing files and Project folders, it's what I've come to expect.  It's muscle memory, if not intuitive.  I realize that many of these keyboard commands are already in use in other windows/panels of the application, therefore, these commands should be Panel-specific (i.e. ALT+LEFT works differently in the Media Browser and Project Panel than it does on the Timeline/Sequence).  And as always, when making such changes (i.e. changing the behavior of ENTER to F2), this set of keys should be highly configurable based on preference:
    Preference:
checkbox:  Use OS-specific navigational keyboard and mouse commands in Media Browser and Project Panel
checkbox:  Use the (very few) "classic" Adobe keyboard commands in the Media Browser and Project Panel
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Media Browser is clicking the BACK button on my mouse—only to realize, yet again, it doesn't work that way in PPr.
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Project Panel is pressing F2 to rename a folder/bin.  Of course that doesn't work.  And when I've renamed it, I press ENTER to save the name, but that only moves me to the next folder ready to rename it, too.  I also find, out of habit, I try to navigate the bins using the arrow keys and then open the bin/folder using ENTER.  Instead, my bin is asking for a new name and I hit ESC to avoid renaming it—now THERE's a shortcut that works the way it should.
I realize this feature may be controversial to some, since it's not the way we're used to doing things in PPr.  However, I'm sure there are just as many out there, like me, who are confounded as to why PPr has never worked with the "conventional" navigation shortcuts found throughout the rest of the operating system, be it Windows or Mac.

  • Feature Request: Photo Borders and Copying in Books

These are a few related feature requests. If anyone knows of a better way to do this with the current software, then I would love to hear it.
When making books I like to have borders around the pictures of various colors (usually black or white) and various widths. In Apeture this is a pain to do. I fiqured out that I could fake it by making a picture box and inserting a solid black picture into it and then creating a smaller picture box in front of it for my real photo. This might be tolerable if I could at least then select both picture boxes and their contents to copy and then onto other pages as a template that I can resize as needed.
Ideally I would love to be able to copy and paste multiple elements on a book page and I would like to be able to define photo borders. Any chance of seeing this in the near future?
    Thanks,
    Sean

Thanks for the reply. You are right, the cut and paste works fine, it just didn't work the way I expected it to. Maybe that is a GUI design thing to consider. I was actually trying to click and drag a selection box like you might do in iPhoto to select multiple images that are right beside each other. This doesn't work at all in Aperture, but your method does work just fine.
I agree with the other poster that some additional features like:
    Photo Borders
    Export to PSD (with layers)
Custom page sizes and Custom themes
would be very nice and start to make that tool truley useful.
Thanks for a really nice product. Keep up the good work and stay ahead of the pack.

  • Feature Requests for BlackBerry10 OS ( supporing persian keybord on blackberry z10 and z30 decives )

    HI
I know this topic is duplicate but the reason that i'm creating it is because blackberry support team or developers have not done anything to fix it yet.
I agree with ehsanp and farvardinzad on they posts here and here :  , this is so annoying using arabic keyboard instead of persian, but blackberry shouldn't lack in something easy and low like this . apple company supports persian گ چ پ ژ when you click and hold for ex : ک on the keyboard it show گ and you can select it and write, this is not something hard for the developers to do ! if you are saying you are restricted because of us government ? allright then we can use vpn to use bbworld and other features but keyboard is not something they restricted is it ???
i bought z10 device for using it in bussines but this is so disturbing because i can't write the right words in persian to my co-workers or employees , even my friends that have ipod are using persian keyboard. please respond to this post and let us ( iranians ) know that you would consider and respond to our several time asked favor and feature .

I'm totally agree with you, even apple company does support persian keyboard .
it is not something against us law !
does anyone know a way that we report this or request this as a feature for blackberry 10 OS to them ? it seem like their developers or cutomer support do not see this post at all !
it's so annoying in the setting in language and input in region tab you can select iran, after that everything show in persian like dates and time everything but there is no persian keyboard or at least arabic keyboard that support long press for adding this 4 alphabets.
for example right now on my lock screen it show time in persian and the date is : سه شنبه ۳ ژوئن
    and in every application like text messages and etc you can see this 4 alphabets :  'گ'  ,  ' ژ'  ,  'پ'  , 'چ'
but we are not able to write this 4 alphabets.
please black berry fix this problem .

  • A few feature requests and problems

This mail is going to have several requests for improvement on the Oracle Help for Java platform. Lest anybody think I'm just complaining, let me say that in general I have been very happy with OHJ. We (ANSYS, Inc: http://www.ansys.com) use it as the online help system for a series of engineering simulation software products which we have been developing and marketing for over twenty years. We support about a dozen platforms and have a very large documentation set and OHJ is the only online help system we have encountered that gives us reasonable performance and the features we need. So far as we can tell, it is the best cross-platform online help system available.
That said, we have encountered a few minor problems which we would like to have addressed. I have already tried sending this to the support email address ([email protected], or something like that), but the mail is always returned with a message about internal lists not being available to outside users. (Another user complained about this in a prior thread)
    1) We have two applications which run in tandem and access the same instance of OHJ. The documentation is contained in two different helpsets, and we want to keep the helpsets separate to the user, so we have set the combineBooks parameter to "false." When the user requests help, however, the Table of Contents pane is not updated to match the helpset in which they requested help. Could the showTopic(Book book, java.lang.String topicID) method be modified to call the showNavigatorWindow(Book activeBook) method if necessary? (i.e. if the navigator window is currently visible and set to a different book object)
    2) Similarly, could the NavigatorWindow be updated if we follow a hyperlink into another book?
    3) On the Windows platform, the Help window doesn't come to the top / gain focus when the user requests help for the first time
    4) When using "dockedByDefault", the control over window size and position we had with the <wintype> tag is lost. That is, when docked, the window (navigator + content) always comes up in a fixed pixel by pixel dimension at the center of the screen. I use a high resolution screen, and the result is that I always have to resize the help window to read the content. I expect that some of our users will have similar high resolution screens. (we cater to the world of CAD). Could we have more control over the window size in docked mode, or at least have the default size relative to screen resolution in the same way we could set the wintype to 60% width and 60% height to fill a good portion of the user's screen?
    5) Have the OHJ developers (or anyone else) looked closely at memory usage? I'm using up to 70MB of RAM for a run of the help system, and I'm just waiting for users' complaints on that one. I realize this is a trade-off that you often have to simply accept with Java-based technologies, and I'm not all that upset about it. However, if we could gain the user 10 or 20 more MB of RAM, that would be something.
    6) Is there any way to combine some books and not others? (This is really grasping at straws. Feel free to simply say "no, and there never will be")
    7) The documentation refers to the capability of customizing the toolbar for different wintypes. I haven't been able to do this for the default wintype.
The remaining few problems have to do with printing. These are really trivial issues from my point of view, as our official policy is that we don't support printing from the help system. (We provide PDF's of the manuals for people wanting hardcopy) However, they would still be nice to fix:
    1) Printed hyperlink text often overlaps neighboring text
    2) Ignoring background color when printing requires that we use media rules in our CSS. Could you ignore the background by default when printing?
    3) In our Table of Contents, we have tree nodes that point to subheadings in a file, so it ends up that a single file will have multiple entries in the Table of Contents. When using the "Print Topics" feature, the entire file is printed for each of these nodes. Could the Print Topics feature keep track of which HTML files it prints, and print each one only once?
Again, I apologize for the many complaints (really suggestions) raised in this single post. These have been building up for a while, but between the previous state of this mailing list (completely overrun by people wanting general Java information) and the mail server errors at the only e-mail address I could find, this list just kept growing, based on our internal usage and testing. The truth is, I am very satisfied with OHJ, and am happy to find a cross-platform help system other than Sun's JavaHelp (which was way too slow for us last time I checked). Please consider this a detailed field test of OHJ 4.1.12.
Thanks for any help and attention to these concerns,
    Jeff Beal
    Documentation Tools Specialist
    Ansys, Inc.

Wow, that's a lot! I have tried to answer all of your concerns. Here goes!
    Problems with the mailing list
We're working on restoring the ability to send messages to our mailing list for external users. We'll post on this forum after we get that working again. Sorry about that.
1 and 2) Automatic switching of active book when showing topic
OHJ does not (by design) automatically switch the active book when a topic is displayed, whether it is from a CSH request or by following a link.
    3) Help doesn't come to top
I cant reproduce this with OHJ 4.1.12 on Windows 2000. What OHJ and OS versions are you running? What options are you using on your Help object? Can you post some way to reproduce it?
    4) dockedByDefault causes OHJ to ignore wintypes size
I reproduced the fact that OHJ ignores the wintypes size parameters when dockedByDefault is set to true. I have filed this as a bug; the height and width parameters should set the size of the content pane even if docked by default. The location parameters, on the other hand, are not supported when dockedByDefault.
    5) Have the OHJ developers (or anyone else) looked closely at memory usage?
We certainly have looked closely at memory usage, but unfortunately this is not a problem with easy answers! :) Partially its due to the overhead Java imposes, and partially its a function of the size of your help contents metadata the number of entries you have in your keyword indices, TOCs, and (to a lesser degree) topic maps. So, the more you can remove entries from these files, the smaller OHJs memory footprint will be. (Note that you can have as many HTML files as you like; these dont stay in memory!)
    6) Is there any way to combine some books and not others?
Sure. To combine books a.hs, b.hs and c.hs, you can create a master help set (master.hs) with these contents:
    <helpset>
       . . . various helpset parameters here . . .
       <subhelpset location="a.hs" />
       <subhelpset location="b.hs" />
       <subhelpset location="c.hs" />
</helpset>Then instead of loading the books individually, just load master.hs.
See the docs for subhelpset in the Oracle Help guide at http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help.
    7) Customizing the toolbar
Though we have documented syntax to support customizing the toolbar for a window type, OHJ does not currently implement this.
printing 1) Printed hyperlink text often overlaps neighboring text
This is an ICE problem, and we are waiting on a fix from them. Sorry about that. Out of curiosity, have you tried it on various printers/OSs/JDKs? Weve found some work better than others. Id be curious whether JDK 1.4 was any better.
printing 2) Ignoring background color when printing
You can disable printing background colors by doing the following in your code:
    System.setProperty("ice.pilots.html4.printBackground", "false");
printing 3) Printing multiple copies of topics in same HTML file
Yep, this is a bug, and it is logged.
Thanks for all your comments, and were glad that you like the product.
