S750 speaker woes

I've had my s750 for almost three years now, and I've been fortunate not to have any problems up to this point. I was recently running the system with cmss disabled, so I was only receiving sound from the front left, front right, and subwoofer. Several days ago, I re-enabled CMSS and attempted to recalibrate my speaker seting.
Problem is, I'm not receiving sound from either the center speaker or the left side speaker. The other fi've speakers are working fine. I've plugged these speakers into the other speaker positions that are working, and the speakers work fine, which eliminates a problem with the speakers themselves or the wiring.
Is there something I'm specifically missing, because I can't think of anything that would cause such a problem with only two speakers unless something is wrong with the sub. Any help would be appreciated.
FYI, the card I'm running the s750 off of is an Audigy 2.

I've resolved the issue. I changed out my stereo jack connectors with the ones on my ddts-100. Problem solved.
I found out the center and side left were carried on the same stereo jack, which led me to thinking it might be a problem with the line between the soundcard and the sub amp.
Try checking that fadain, and ensure you have the jacks plugged in correctly. Pink looks like orange in poor light. If you have the same problem as I, you might just simply need a new 3 to 4 stereo connector.

  • A solution to the S750 speaker system problem

Well my s750 died just like everybody elses. But after creative wanted me to pay 75% of my purchase price, I found a better solution. Nope, I am not fixing the unit like you guy's. I do not see the need to fix a poorly design system! I am not sure if creative or indigo/bash/blade audio is to be blamed. But if I had to pick, I would say "indigo/bash/blade audio". Years ago before blade audio became indigo, I had a chance to visit their location in ontario Canada. This was just when they stop making the blade audio car amps.
While I was there, I happened to see this long list of brand names they had started to make amp modules for. Names like Harman International, Klipsch and so on. Anyway I cast the blame on indigo for this reason: Some years ago I had purchased a set of "harman international" infinity IL series speakers. Like our creative s750, the infinity shares a bash powered subwoofer system. And just like the s750 the infinity subwoofer like to blow up too! In the case of the infinity, the power supply was the weak link. The amp module in the infinity at that time, was built just like the blade audio car amps before. Which in my opinion is a much better design than what is being used in the s750. I remember one of the sale guy at circuit city at the time saying, "I wish we would drop this model". He went on to tell me the failure on the powered units were very high. You know there is a problem when the mid level Creative Inspire T7700 7.1, out last the flagship s750. Now, whats my better solution you guy's want to know? Two words , Simplifi Digital! The 7075a 7.1 amplifier along with Definitive Technology Pro Sub1000 and the remaing surround speakers from my s750 system. Yes, it did cost me more to go this route. But what I now have is a much more reliable system. And a sound that the s750 can only dream about. My s750 died while I was listening to Dave Bruebeck quartet "take five" at mid volume. With my current setup, I can listen mid volume all day long with no hiccups.
For those who my have the cash to spend. I recommend looking at my direction!? Keep this in mind, make sure whatever powered subwoofer you choose, is adjustable up to 50hz. The creative surround speakers dont play very well below 20hz. Also make sure whatever powered sub you choose don't use a BASH amplifier. For those looking at the s750 as a purchase, good luck. Or go over to partsexpress.com and get the Dayton Part Number 300-670, surround speakers. Then get the simplifi digital 7075 7.1 amplifier and power subwoofer of your choice and make a better/best system. Sorry Creative Labs! This post is NOT intended to cast negativity. I use and like the products you offer. I just do not like the s750, and the reasons are all over this forum and elsewhere on the net. I currently own 3 audigy 2zs sound cards, three Inspire t7700 speaker system, three sound blasters modems and yes, one defective/dead s750 speaker system. If anything use this post as a positive to what Creative Labs could offer in the future. A system like I now have, sure would be nice with the Creative name all over it.

My system specs below. What I have now simply blows the S750 away. And this is mated to my Audigy 2zs card. I am tempted to try my Terratec Aueron 7.1 universe which does sound better than my 2zs. The Simlifi Digital amplifier is one serious unit. This amp has one HUGE toroidal transformer inside of it! I was able to see it thru the vents on top of the cover. Definitive Technology ProSub 1000 Subwoofer Specifications:Complement: One 10" woofer with polymer cone coupled to one 10" infrasonic radiator

  • Creative Gigaworks S750 speaker placement

    Hey Guys,
As I get deeper into how to improve the sound on my Gigaworks S750 I'm starting to experiment with proper speaker placement.
So far, I have the four floor stands for the side and rear channels.
And going by the book I have the side channels slightly past and behind where my ears are, and they are pointed toward each other, and not directly at my ears.
The two rear speakers are both behind me, but pointed straight toward the front of my room, and not directly toward my ears.
Is this how they are supposed to be? Or should the sides be right at my ear level and right to either side of my ears? Same with the rears? Should they be angled in toward my ears at my seating position?
The diagram in my manual doesn't seem to indicate that the speakers get angled toward the listener except the front center above the monitor.
But other sites all seem to want the speakers angled at the listener, unless these Creatives are doing something different to create the surround sound field?
Here's an industry diagram vs. the Creative manual.
Creative diagram for Gigaworks S750, unfortunately I can't scale it up larger, but refer to page 6 by scrolling down in the manual located at the link below.
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/14711901/C...ks-S750-Manual
So which is the most optimal for my speakers? I'm using option A for my setup in the Creative Manual right now, but just want to know what I should be doing to have the sound setup correct for these speakers.

  • Missing s750 speaker wire

does anyone know where i can go about getting replacement speaker wire for the s750? i've moved a ridiculous amount of times and lost track of my rear speaker cables.

From what I can tell from my S750s, you should be able to go to any Radio Shack and buy a new wire. Just make sure that the plug in to the Sub woofer is the right size on the one end and it really wouldn't matter what the other end is because you plug in bare wire to the actual speaker itself. Find a 2 wire... err WIRE with the right connector for the Sub and strip it on the other end to connect to the speaker. Sound simple... yes? Make sure you get the right length of wire!

  • S750 Speaker cable

    Hi All
Does anybody know where to purchase the cables that run from the sub to the satellites as I require replacement cables for my S750 system?
I have tried maplin but with no success.
Also do creative still sell the speaker stands for the S750's? thay are not on there website.
Would creative be interested in selling these products directly to me?
    Thanks

    Matt,
The cable the original poster is referring to is from the sub to the satellites, not the 4:4 cable. Contact Customer Support if you need that cable to see if they can supply you with one.
As far as the colours go, I'm not sure what you mean, putting them into the jack? Or do you mean you need to know which colours (on the sub) are for which input? The manual should cover that, if you need other information please be more specific as to what exactly you need.

  • Ideal power supply protection for gigaworks s750 speaker system

anyone please help me decide on what to buy to protect my gigaworks s750 speakers from power surges or instability.
actually, i'm confused with what to buy, AVR or UPS and what capacity, 500, 000 or 500 watts/va.. Here in our place, the power supply is not consistent that for such reason I feel the need to secure my s750 speakers, especially that it's quite expensive.
Also, does anyone know how much power (if i'm right, it's expressed in watts) the s750 consumes, assuming it operates continuously in one hour? Thanks in advance.

  • How to connect mp3 player to S750 speaker?

i see it has a usb port . does it just connect? i try but cant get any sound. i using muvo and ipod.

No, I'm afraid not. The MuVo Vidz isn't M-Port compatible. I believe there's a Aux input at the control pod which you can use with the player.

  • S750 US speaker working in Europe (110V - 220V) converter integrated?

Hi - somebody know if there is an integrated power converter in the S750 speaker system? I was relocating to Germany and took my S750 speaker system with me but I'm not sure if I can connect it directly to the 220V system. Most PC's have an integrated power converter and I was wondering if somebody of you knows if there is an integrated power converter in the S750 too?
    Thx.
    Faehner

    Faehner,
The power adaptor is inbuilt in the subwoofer but it's not a power converter adaptor. The power specification is written at the back of the subwoofer near to the power connecter. You have use the correct voltage that's stated there.

  • Speaker Wire

I just bought the 7.1 creative s750 speaker system, and I was wondering if anyone knows any kind of speaker wire I could use that is a little higher performance than the speaker wire that comes with the system? I have looked around and I can't find speaker connections with one end an RCA connection, and the other end a positive, negative end to plug into the back of the speakers. If anyone knows where I could find that type of speaker wire that is hire end, I would really appreciate it.

You could plug them into the 3.5mm speaker output on the back of the computer.
Yes, there are speaker wire to RCA and then RCA to 3.5mm headphone plug cables/connectors.
But that wouldn't really be good as the power otuput of the computer (500-600 mWatts?) would not be enough to power the speakers to an acceptable level (probably 1 watt minimum).

  • In need of some special adapters connection soundcard to double speaker

I'd need a two male-to-male ,8''x,8'' cables (3,5mmx3,5mm). One with a lenght as short as possible, 5 inches (5cm) or shorter, a 2" long adapter without a cord would?even do the job better. And a second cable with similar single ,8'' connectors in both ends measuring 33 feet (0m), or slightly more if?one can not be found mesuring that on the dot. If you'd know where to get one's like that online, would you mind helping me and posting a link? It were?easier if the online retailer would be located in Europe, but overseas is not excluded if it proves difficult finding them inside EU. Where do I need such cables? I'm planning on connecting my X-Fi ExtremeMusic onto two S750 speaker systems.

  • Loss of sound with the Gigaworks S750 system

    Hi,
I just recently purchased a Gigaworks S750 speaker system and I ran into a problem. Every-so-often, randomly, my entire system will just stop playing any sound. This last for a random amount of time (5 second to 30 mins). I've triple checked the wires and even taken the system down and re-set it up. I know it'ss not the sound card (recently purchased Audigy 2 ZS) and it'ss not the drivers (updated them many times). I know it'ss a problem with the speaker system itself as I split the signal from my soundcard out to both my headphones and my speakers and my headphones continue to work during the outages. When I plug my headphones into the jack on the control unit of the S750 during an outage, the sound plays through them. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

It turns out that I was wrong about one thing, once the USB port on the right side of my computer stops working for the US-122, it seems to shut down until I restart the computer. I thought that it worked after the US-122 went down and was unplugged because another device will receive power from the port when plugged in. It turns out that although the new device will power up, it won't be recognized by the computer. I appreciate any help or ideas. Thanks.

  • Gigaworks s750 with a 5.1 card?

    Hi all,
    I have a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 (D880) card.
Can the Gigaworks s750 Kit work with this card or I must get a 7.1 card?
    Tnk's in advance!
    Bye
    Phant

    Phant,
The Gigaworks S750 speaker has a upmix switch by the volume control box that can help upmix 5.1 channel to a 7.1 channel effect so it should work with a 5.1 soundcard. Of cos if possible, I would still suggest getting a proper 7.1 soundcard to fully utilize a 7.1 speaker system.

  • Creative S750 problem ..

I have an intermittent problem with the base unit on my S750 speaker setup. Sometimes when it is powered up i get the full base output and other times no bass at all .. i removed the rear panel to check all connections and all seemed to work well for a short while. Now again the bass comes and goes. I also get a drop in power putput too on occasions woth output levels going very low. I have checked the speaker setup on several PC systems but its definitely a problem in the main bass unit ..
Any ideas anyone ... is this a common problem and also what are Creative UK like at repairs out of warranty .. ?

Hello Keith, my name is Carl and I to have the S750 sys. with the X-Fi Elite Pro SC. If you get as frustrated with the tech support in Singapore as I do, their only way to fix your problem is to uninstall and reinstall the software. Right out of the box the 750 speaker system has worked great for me and I have had it for going on 2 years now. Are you using a Creative soundcard? In your case it sounds like it might actually be a software issue. If you have tried reinstalling the SC software be sure you do so with a "Clean Boot" in WindowsXP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/30353 or http://support.microsoft.com/kb/33796 for Vista, and here is the things you need to do when uninstalling the software http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=72
I apologize to you if these are things you already know.
    Thanks,

  • Gigaworks S750 Subwoofer

Can another subwoofer be attached to the Gigaworks S750 Speaker System? Or additional speakers? Basically, I have a set of Creative Inspire 6.1's and I would like to hook them up to the Gigaworks S750 Speakers if I get them, is this possible?

why would you want to do that? If you connect a cablesplitter to the cable connecting the center/sub, you can redirect it to another subwoofer. but you might try placing the sub in a corner first, cause using splitters and such isn't an inprovement to the audioquality

  • Creative has slapped its customers in the face with the S750

This forum is littered with very similar complaints about the S750 speaker system and its obvious that Creative is just ignoring this overwhelming problem with their product. Why arent they addressing this problem? Because people continue to PAY them $300 to replace their systems. Why would they address the problem if they can profit TWICE from it's We need to take a stand against Creative and simply stop buying their lousy products.

    jwyatt29,
If there's something you're not happy with, please feel free to write in to Customer Support and feedback your concern to them but you really need to stop posting these conspiracy theory of yours all across the board as it's simple not true. I'm closing this thread too as I don't think there will be anything constructi've coming out of it either.
