Safari back button assignment for mouse

how do i assign the safari web page back button to a button on my mouse
can anyone please help me with it, it be much apprciated

Did your mouse come with its own software drivers, or does Mac OS X support mouse button assignment for your mouse? If so, you should be able to get it done in System Preferences. If not, you might need something like USB Overdrive. Alternatively, CocoaSuite and xGestures offer a novel solution in the form of mouse gestures.

Step 1: Get, Install evdev

First, use evdev as the Xorg mouse driver.
Get this module, install it, and make sure it is loaded each time you run Linux.
For Arch, this means:
# pacman --sync xf86-input-evdev
and adding "evdev" to the modules list in /etc/rc.conf.
Step 2: Modify xorg.conf to Use evdev as Your Mouse Driver

Next, in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, create an evdev-based input device that specifies your mouse:
# evdev based section for Logitech MX1000 mouse

Identifier "Evdev Mouse"
Driver "evdev"
Option "Name" "Logitech USB Receiver"

Note: then "Name" field above is important. Find out the name for your device via:

In the case of the Logitech MX1000 mouse, which is wireless, it is: "Logitech USB Receiver".
Step 3: Modify Xorg ServerLayout to Use Your evdev Mouse

Now modify the Xorg server layout to use this mouse entry:

Warning: Only changing the first 9 of 20 buttons.
Don't worry about this - it is normal.
Finally, to get those pesky Forward and Back buttons working in some Gnome apps such as Nautilus,
get and install xvkbd and xbindkeys. Now create file ~/.xbindkeysrc, containing:

Hi Misfit138, I agree that the general ideas are there already in the Wiki, but even after reading that entry, I was not able to get things working. The existing entry is not specific enough to the MX1000 mouse. So, although I have never contributed to a Wiki before, I think it is likely a good idea to do so in this case. I will make sure that the entry is very MX1000 specific. It will address a small audience, but it is one way of giving back a little to the community.

Hi Everybody,
I have a JSP page which has 2 part: The header (Selection for search with the SEARCH button) and a search result table.
Is it possible to remember the last record printed & start from the next record when I click on "Next" button? When I click on the "Next" button will it create new page? I need to have both Next & Back buttons displayed for viewing 20 records at a time.
The current JSP is using "session.removeAttribute("XXXWorkItemVector") to print out records.
I'm very new to JAVA and JSP, so please help me with my assignment and send me e-mail to [email protected]

Safari Back Button - Broken Again!!!

In a previous post, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9724856 I was able to restore the back button functionality by doing a complete reset on my 1G iPod after the Safari Back Button became permanently disabled. This happened shortly after upgrading to OS 3.0.
It has now happened again, and this time I know the step that caused it. I was on Wikipedia and clicked a hyperlink to another wiki page. The link generated a 502 Bad Gateway error. At this point, the Safari Back Button became permanently disabled.
I guess I have another full reset to do again.

After doing another full reset, the Back Button on Safari was activated again. BUT!!! Now after using it for a day, it's gone again!!! Arrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Is there any way of going back to OS 2.x? This never happened over the last 1.5 years of using OS 1.x or 2.x on my 1G iPod Touch.

Using the Safari Back button to navigate?

Why is it when I'm navigating the Support communities and I use the Safari back button it always goes to the top of the list and not to the list that I have already expanded. It gets pretty annoying to have to keep expanding the topic list to get back to were a left off.

Every "List" you see is sorted by activity - latest first. If you navigate away, then back, you are reloading the page with a new set of activity.
If you wish to use a list as a "Home Base" after using "Load More", COMMAND > Click the link (Title?) to open the thread in a new TAB. when finished, close the TAB and you will see your Home Base as you left it - likely with the thread you chose Underlined

Why does the Back button require two mouse clicks?

I've just upgraded to ver. 9 and now the Back button requires two mous clicks/

I might not have used the word "Normal". "Typical" maybe. I suppose "Normal" is acceptable in the context of "SNAFU".
Wait until you make an edit on one of your own posts to fix a stupid typo, then later look to find the typo back and you can no longer edit it. And what's up with that messed-up Javascript that shows up at the top of some quoted messages?
These forums are barely usable, but a bright spot is the color-managed photo attachment capability (i.e., you can upload an image with a non-sRGB color profile and the server will convert it). I suppose if anything Adobe could have been expected to get that part right.

It's really easy because it's mostly already set up... The AF-On button on the back of the camera already starts and stops AF.
To set up true BBF technique, you turn off the AF function at the shutter button. I believe it's Custom Function IV, 1: Opertaion/Others.... where you make button assignments. Navigate to the shutter button icon and press "set" to enter the options for that... change to the center one "metering start" and press "set" again. Done.
Optionally you can swap the function of the AF-On and "*" (AE Lock) buttons, using the same button assignment tool.

Safari "back" button gone

Anybody else have this happen? In the upper left corner of my Safari (2.0.4) page, where there used to be a "back" button (black triangle), I now have a "refresh" button (half-circle).
I can still go back a page by using CMD-[ but I want my button back!
Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,
There are 2 ways to restore it.
- Quit Safari, trash the Safari preferences file at /Users/YourUsername/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist and then restart Safari
or
- Right-click (or control+click if using a single button mouse) on the toobar area and choose 'Customize Toolbar...' - from the dropdown that appears you can re-add the missing buttons.

Safari back button showing blank page

Since upgrade to 4.2 I have noticed a problem using google in safari.
From www.google.com, search for something and following any result link. Hit the Back button to return back to the google result page and it's always a blank page, annoying. Anyone else getting same problem?

Same thing with my 64GB WIFI/3G iPad after ios 4.2.1 update. However, with me, it is seemingly on a random basis 20-30% of the time.
Google search---> search results----> view one of the search results----> back button----> EMPTY PAGE.
However, hitting the reload icon in URL bar on the empty page brings back search results, so livable.

Safari back button doesn't always work

The back button on the Safari 3 beta doesn't seem to work on all websites. Does anyone have an explanation or fix for this?

I found the fix. Disabling the MacAfee Site Advisor plug-in fixed it.

Using Back button issue for radio button

Dear All,
My initial screen has 2 radio buttons, on selecting will take to a selection screen with few fields, i have enabled the back button using MODULE user_command AT EXIT-COMMAND.
when i select a Radio Button 1 which takes to the Selection Screen 1, if the user clicks back button it works fine, even thou we got a mandatory field, it goes back,
however when i click Radio Button 2 it still takes me to Selection Screen 1, its the same vice versa.
Is there anyway i can change the screen based on radio button entry

You can call your desire selection screen based on the button click.
if you are working on report program (SE38), then say you have two radio button p1 and p2 and also you have created two selection screen block B1 and B2 and each block has some selection screen elements i.e fields.
Now if you want that after radio button click b1, you want the only selection screen block B1 and while clicking radio button b2 click ,you want only selection screen block B2.
Two acheive this in report programming, use the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.

When navigating off home page(s), back button unavailable for use

When I start up Firefox, I have 5 home pages. Once I navigate off the homepage to a page inside the sight, the homepage isn't available on the back button. When I first started using Firefox, I didn't have this problem, it has started with recent updates and has continued onto V4.0. I have loaded more than once, and this doesn't correct the problem

Problem has been solved, I forgot to add a Parameter in request on the basis of which it performs the relevant action!

Don't seem to have a back button on web pages. Any ideas?

Click "View" menu in the Safari menu bar and choose "Customize Toolbar.
Drag the "Back/Forward" button from the sheet that drops down to the Toolbar and then click "Done".

Safari back button and page jump

Hi. I'm using Safari 6.0.3 on MacBook Air.
When I click the back button the previous page is reloaded fine. However, Safari does not jump down to the place on the page I was last. This is tiresome when dealing with long lists (e.g., ebay results pages). All other browsers I use do this. Any help? Thanks!

Safari back button greys out

Since installing OSX Mountain Lion, the Safari Back btton greys out when entering a new website. I have to close Safari and reopen it, then find the page I want through the history, just to go back one page. How do I fix it?
