  • I have a pornographic search title in the banner at he op of the page just below the bookmarks shortcuts icons. It appears when that part of the screen drops down a bit when the on screen keyboard opens up. Its a spam like link that won't go away.

I have a pornographic search line on the top banner of Safari just under the bookmark icons that appears whenever I open up the onscreen keyboard and the top drops down a bit. Don't know where it came from the iPad is only one day old brand-new. I've tried getting rid of this by resetting the entire iPad but that didn't work. The link if I click it opens up a Google page listing links to see videos. Need to know if there's any way to make this thing go away permanently.

You saved it on the bookmark bar. Hit bookmarks, bookmark bar, edit, then hit the minus to delete it.

  • My computer has streaks on the screen that won't come off

I just got the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display about a month ago and now on the screen there are streaks all over the screen that won't go away. I have tried using water, glass cleaner, and glasses cleaner wipes but it won't come off. Is this some type of defect or is there some other way to clean it?

How do you know they won't run in Yosemite? You're not trying to fiddle with stuff in your backup from the Finder, are you? If so you are likely to render that backup unusable.
WHen when you restore them from your backup, they should be updateable.

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
    What can I do ..??

I am receiving email that I should verify my password for iCloud but I can't see the link that I should start. HELP please!!!!!!

You select the desired file (tick the square box on the left of the file name).
You click on the "share"/"send" icon (the envelope with the arrow that points up and to the right).
You are presented with the share/send dialog.
Here you select the "Send To" choice.
This is done by placing a tick in the box beside either "Public Link (create a public link for anyone to view)"
    OR
"Personalizdd Link (send email invitations to individuals)"
NOTE: The second choice is only available if you have a subscription to Adobe Send service.
So, for a free "Files" account in Adobe's cloud you'd tick "Public Link".
At the bottom left you'll observe the "Create Link" button.
    Click it.
You are presented with a new dialog that informs you that the Public Link has been generated and that link is provided in a field within the dialog.
You can copy the link to a text file for future copy-paste into a post to a forum or bulletin board or you can provide the link to otheres via an email.

I would restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod on your computer and start over. It appears the iPod is associated with another account.  Any media that came with the iPod does not belong to you and di not transfer with the iPod hardware.

  • When I try to go to the app store, I have a popup for a game that won't go away.  I can't get it off the screen. Suggestions?

When I try to go to the app store, I have a popup for a free game that won't go away.  I can't get into the app store.

This happened to me twice lately.  I finally got around it by double tapping the home key to go back to the homepage finding the app store that was running and flicked  it up to get rid of it.
When I went back to the App Store the Popup was gone.

    I FIXED IT.
The issue was a folder name.  For some reason, a folder was name Fersions when it should have been called Version.  I have no clue why it was named that way, but I named it correctly and the error disappeared.

Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.
This article lists scanning and cleaning tools other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
To check your Windows registry for policy settings that might affect Firefox or other programs, I suggest consulting a Windows forum or Microsoft's forums. For example:

  • Links that won't work

Yesterday I noticed that while using Safari 2, some links will not work, as in I click on something on a webpage and nonthing happens. I do notice that sometimes when I click on a link like this, a # appears at the end of URL. But that's the only change. There is not any kind of pattern and these links that don't work are on several different websites. My groupwise webacess is also not working properly in that all of my mailboxes appear to be empty, even though my percentage is where it has always been. I originally thought that this was a problem with groupwise, but now that I am having these other issues, I'm not so sure. I have reset safari and restarted my computer, but neither has worked. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you

...some links will not work, as in I click on something on a webpage and nonthing happens. I do notice that sometimes when I click on a link like this, a # appears at the end of URL.
That's probably a link that is coded with JavaScript to open in a new page. If it looks like a pop-up to Safari and you have pop-up blocking turned on, the link won't open. If you haven't already, try turning pop-up blocking off and trying the link again.
Pop-up blocking is enabled via the Safari menu:
    Safari > Block Pop-Up Windows
If that menu item has a checkmark next to it, blocking is enabled. If there is no checkmark next to it, blocking is not turned on. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Command-K (in Safari 2) or Command-Shift-K (in Safari 3) to toggle pop-up blocking on and off.
There are many different ways for web sites to code pop-ups and Safari catches some, doesn't catch others, and unfortunately treats some as pop-ups when they're really not the kind of pop-ups most of us are trying to avoid. Developing pop-up blocking is an ongoing process since the people who code pop-ups are constantly finding new ways to circumvent pop-up blockers.

  • Safari Hijacked and Certificates that won't go away.  Malware?

Four times over the last 4 or 5 months "something" hijacks Safari and freezes it.
The first 3 times I was in Google.   I clicked on a site, it would freeze Safari and I would get a message from an unrelated website telling me to call a number for Apple Support which was not Apple.
Each of those 3 times I called Apple Care and they went to Finder>Library> Cache and removed files from Launch Agents, Launch Daemons and Plug-ins.  That removed the problem.
This time I was in Words With Friends when a Certificate popped up for the website Secure.RubiconProject.Com.   I spent over an hour on the phone with Apple looking for bad files.  None were found but we couldn't get rid of the Certificate and Safari was frozen.   Also, WWF would keep crashing Safari.
The Apple guy had me install a 2 week free trial of Web Root antivirus.  It found some problems which it took care of.  When I went back to Words with Friends the Certificate popped up again but this time I clicked on it since Web Root would tell me if there was an issue.
The screen was blank but since then: 1.  No certificate and 2. an error message that was always across the top of WWF about having to reload the page was gone.  When I used Firefox to work on this problem with Apple, I would keep getting a message that said Firefox would not direct this to another page and I had to click an OK button.  That is gone.
I don't know why I keep getting this issue since each time it is different.   I told Apple guy that I had read that Apple doesn't need antivirus and in fact they can cause more problems than they help.   He said Apple has a Firewall but nothing for malware which is become more and more prevalent.  There are threads here about not needed anti viruses but I'm at a loss.
I have Apple Care for 2 more years but I don't want to keep calling them if I can find a solution to this.  I'm not tech savvy.   I would like an antivirus that is a one time fee.
    Advice please?

You may have inadvertently installed adware. Eradicating it is simple and you don't have to download or install anything to fix it.
Although adware relies upon deception, it does not get installed without your consent, and "anti-virus" utilities cannot prevent users from willfully installing garbage. Only you can do that, by recognizing adware's appearance, which is constantly changing as adware authors constantly attempt to thwart automatic means of detection.
For an explanation or how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended solution read How to install adware.
Webroot is garbage that won't help prevent adware. Uninstall it. Be sure to follow its uninstallation instructions.
I have Apple Care for 2 more years but I don't want to keep calling them if I can find a solution to this.
You should call them, as often as necessary. AppleCare is a service you paid for. Let them work for you. I suggest you express your displeasure regarding their inept recommendation to install Webroot. OS X's software firewall is also completely irrelevant to your concern.
