Safari (Javascript and Flashplayer)

Howdy.
I'm frustrated. For months I've been unable to access YouTube or Facebook. I was previously running Tiger and assumed once I upgraded to Leopard (which I have) that these issues would have been resolved. My inability to access these sights had previously not had been a big deal to me, my life is moving forward and now I feel as if this is a hinderance.
My rope--I'm at the end of it. If you guys have any idea as to what's going on I'd love to hear it. Merci.
System specs grabbed from "About this Mac": iMac4,1; Intel Core Duo (2 GHz); One processor; Two cores; L2 Cache 2 MB; Memory 1 GB; Bus Speed 667 MHz; Boot ROM Version IM41.005.B08; SMC Version 1.1f5 Hope that helps!

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, 3.1, 3.1.1, QT 7.3, 7.4.x and 7.5 and OS 10.4.11.
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.11 and have Quicktime 7.4 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer 11 (which is no longer in beta) for Mac from:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15540
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2
and then the latest version obtained from here:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS, but please see my footnote if you are running Leopard.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11, that you have downloaded and installed all the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates up to and including 2008-004. (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
And now there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash should be. You can read more about it here:
http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards):
http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/
FOOTNOTE
If you are running Leopard:
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player (v.9.0.115.0) conflicts with Leopard, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1

  • Safari,Javascript and Virtual Earth

    Hi all,
Understand that Safari browser in ipod touch is the same one in iphone 3G.
I went to Apple-authorised dealer shop and glad they did a demo on Mac and ipod touch. I have some questions and your help.
The website we surfed was http://maps.live.com
in Mac, you can use the mouse to double click to Zoom in the map. Whereas in ipod touch, when you double tap or just tap, there was no zooming just what the mac could do.
Q1) How to tap the ipod touch to have the zoom on the map?
Q2) in Mac, you can use the mouse to click and I can use javascript to write the click-Event for the mouse. What will be the equivalent mouse click event for Ipod touch browser ?
Q3) in Microsoft Virtual Earth, I write a Mouse click event in a HTML page. This can be used in PC or MAC. But the same piece of code can not work in Browser in ipod touch when user tap on the map.
    Please help.
    Thanks

Thank you. That was the clue I needed. But if I may ask a further question (I am learning by analogy):
With your answer, and after consulting a few JavaScript tutorials, I reasoned that if "document.forms.length" referred to the number of forms (not contained in frames) in a web page, then "window.frames[0].document.forms.length" would refer to the number of forms in the first frame of the page. But I haven't been able to make this work.
    do JavaScript ("window.frames\[" & (frameIndex as text) & "\].document.forms.length") in document 1
This statement (I omit enclosing tell blocks) doesn't always return a value, and when it does, it seems to be 0, even if the frame does contain a form. This suggests I still don't have it quite right.
To push the analogy just a little further: if the first element in the first form in a document is referenced by "document.forms[0].elements[0]" then I was thinking that the first element of the first form in the first frame would be "window.frames[0].document.forms[0].elements[0]", but since I haven't been able to make the previous do JavaScript statement return a useful value, I'm no longer confident. If you can see an obvious flaw in these two examples, I think I shall be able to generalize from that point.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • How to use AppleScript, Safari, JavaScript, and jQuery together

    Hello to all,
I am running AppleScript to populate some forms on various websites, but to activate some behaviors on the various forms that I can't activate with Safari and JavaScript I think I might need jQuery. Only problem is that I don't really know how to get the functions of jQuery embedded into a running AppleScript.
Would any of you knowledgeable people know how to accomplish this.
    Any help would be welcome.
    Thank you,
    Chris

Yes I did get to that part.... I went trough external to retrive itunes folder... When I selected the folder, it said that it was locked, choose another folder... I then went to my external again to my itunes folder and and used command I to see if folder was locked and it wasn't.... it was suggested on another forum to reboot.. which I did and still same problem... All I want to do is link my external hard drive that has my itunes playlist from another Mac to my new one.. and to also use the external as the main source for adding new songs to my playlist...

  • Safari Javascript on iPad2 no longer works 8.2 and 8.3

Since updating myiPad2 to 8.2 and later 8.3, javascript elements in websites viewed with Safari and Chrome no longer work. I can successfully view/use these same websites on another iPad with an older IOS.
Here's what  have tried so far:
    -soft reset (home+power)
    -clear safari cache/website data
    -forget network
    -toggle javascript on and off
    -every combination of the above
-upgrade to 8.3 and repeat all of the above
Does anyone have anything to add that I could try?
    Thank you.

@sean0826 -- this is why you don't use Java menus. Even javascript menus are a bad idea; you need to have a secondary menu system ANYTIME you have a menu system that requires a plugin or scripting to be active. NOT EVERYONE browses with that stuff on.
The only thing you can do for now is FTP to your site and add in static menus (like we did in the "old days" at the bottom of the page; or rip out the Java Menus and install static or CSS versions.
BTW where are you rmenus supposed to be. I have opera, safari, ff, and a few others. they all look the same. So if that's true, it's the plugin that's the problem, not safari.
In Opera Pogo.com works. java loads, the game is there. It does have some drawing issues but not surprised.
In Safair Pogo works fine. Just played a game of chess.

  • QuickTime 7.3 Javascript and Safari 3.0.4 on MAC OS X 10.4.11 is BROKE

*UNBELIEVABLE lack of QA on APPLE's part!!!* I am totally embarrassed by this, guys... I've been successfully using the embedded object method of instantiating QT movies since May of 2007 on Safari first; and Firefox, et al browsers second. Safari was the clear winner when it came to movie file load times, and blew away number two(firefox); but recent releases(in the past couple of weeks) have broken their own browser by displaying a sad little 'Q' logo instead.
To add insult to injury, I am developing a RIA(Rich Internet App) that relied on this H.264 decoder's ability to run reverse rate speeds of -2x, -4x, and -8x like a champ. Now, sadly; that TOO is broken and only reverse rates of anything > -1 and < 0 seem to work. Did I mention I delved into the Javascript code in AC_QuickTime.js and found even more embarrassing code to report. I didn't use these functions, because I chose to procedurally create DOM child nodes in JavaScript to do the work of adding in <object><embed></embed></object> structures, and APPLE uses a sophomoric technique of building up a concatenated string of literal XHTML4 code. Okay, so that's not as big a problem as them BREAKING the tool; but it might be a hint into the quality of staff they employ to provide these interfaces to us.
Sooooo. What's next, ya'll? I need to move on, and will; but I sure hope someone will help cattle prod these guys into better QA upon subsequent releases; and please keep me advised of when the fix finally arrives. Sorry about the rant; but these type of goofs could've been avoided in my humble, but vocal opinion.

Hello Again. I'm back after referring to the web page you sent me, fellow Texian; and appreciate your time. I dug into this section of text with a fine tooth comb, and discovered this was written for IE-centric developers; which I'm guessing you might be first. I'm a SAFARI first kind of dude, just because I'm too lazy to use anything else to get started on my MACBOOK PRO. I see the explanations of what you refer to(and the documentation refers to as "external"), but it's still a function call in the AC_JavaScript.js file, which I've seen before. EMBED is STILL ALIVE and in use here, FYI.
Nothing was different about my usage, except that I attacked the problem from a lower level.... BUT... I DID find one subtle thing that I had been getting away with since last May 2007; and Safari's JavaScript interpreter just let me do it. In the OBJECT tag, the use of PARAM was being used for the SRC argument. So, I dug into my JAVASCRIPT BIBLE(6th edition) authored by Danny Goodman et al, and in the Bonus Chapter section here is what I'd like to share:
The PARAM is considered an ODD CASE, per the authors, and it is uniquely passed to Applets, plug-ins, and activeX controls, as one would do on the server side using JAVA NATIVE INTERFACE calls from JAVA to a compiled DLL or SHARED OBJECT file. SWIG is another example of interpretive interfaces to native code methods and variables. The authors go on to say you can't really get to them with JavaScript calls, or alter them because of this uniqueness and the fact that they are bound at load time only. So, you MUST use PARAM and not Attribute or Property because they are truly different; and it's the way that APPLE provides the interface to their decoder we know and love as QuickTime. APPLE just fixed their oversight and tightened the restrictions on this in their latest release, and my old code was made to adhere to the W3C standard all of a sudden.
I went into my DOM node method and changed the element to be of type PARAM, and everything I knew to have worked before was suddenly reinstated. What's odd is how this misapplication of attribute allowed FIREFOX on MAC OS X to load, play, pause, and FF without error, but exhibited the reverse rate problem only -- that's too weird.
In closing, you or the article may not have solved my problem directly, but through this conversation; it stimulated my thinking to find the root of the problem from a different
    pathway.
Cheers and Happy Holidays and I hope I don't have to bother the forum again anytime soon -- if you know what I mean, jellybean... And sorry APPLE for my first impressions -- I brag on you guys to my boss all the time, making him wish he'd switch to MAC instead. My motto still lives, "ONCE YOU GO MAC; YOU NEVER GO BACK!"

I would like to embed interactive widgets in iBooks using iBookAuthor. The widgets in question started life in Java but GWT has allowed them to be converted to javascript and to run on web pages (for example, http://softoption.us/content/node/437 scroll to the bottom). In theory, iBookAuthor can bring in most html5, and much javascript. The technique is to wrap the html in a folder, with 2 extra files, a plist and a default png and then change the extension of the folder to ‘.wdgt’. This is the technique for making Dashboard widgets for the Mac, and Apple even have the Dashcode software to do it. So what you really do is to make a Dashboard widget, then iBookAuthor can import it.  So far, so good. And some  folk have been doing this, for example http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/2/prweb9242432.htm http://www.panophoto.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=10417&p=158330#p158423 However, if you start with GWT and create a single page with one button and a Hello World, compile it, and get the WAR file (I use Eclipse here)… the Safari browser and others will run it properly (even on an iPad). Then if you wrap it, a proper Dashboard widget is created, which runs properly on a Mac. Then if you go to iBookAuthor and put a custom widget in the Text, then drag it in. It is accepted by the text and shown as being there. However, if you use Preview to look at it on an iPad, it is gone (or was never there in the first place). Anyone any ideas on this? [And iBook Author seems to give no warnings.] The widget is at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/46713473/Test6.wdgt.zip I have bells and whistles that I’d like to get into an iBook!
    Thanks for any insights.
    Martin

I do have a little to add, which might help someone. Indeed, opening a blank page and dragging the widget straight in seems good in difficult cases. But, actually, I was also able to insert successfully from the Toolbar especially to blank pages. So, it may have been something to do with the columns and stuff like that. Anyway back then the insertion would show in iBooks Author but not in the Preview on the iPad. I moved on to actual Google Web Toolkit output javascript. Basically I had three at hand to try: a Hello World with a button which went straight it, one of moderate complexity, (for example with a built in Lisp interpreter), which also went straight in, and finally a more complex one that initially was rejected by iBook Author. Author complained that there was an unsupported media file (of course, Author does not tell you which one it is, that would be too easy). [Remember, this was a proper working Dashboard widget which could be installed on a Mac]. Among other things I had read remarks about .gif files. When looking through the GWT war directory at the actual javascript etc files, I noticed there were two gifs there one called ‘clear.cache.gif ‘  and a second one called  ‘0F89659FF3F324AE4116F700257E32BD.cache.gif’. (Now, there is obfuscation so the numbers here may be different from case to case.) The clear.cache.gif did not seem to be anything special. But the other one is an animation. It is three little boxes that twinkle (rather like a waiting spinning cursor).  So, I opened that file and saved it to itself (that picks the top frame of the animation and saves only that, leaving you with an unanimated gif). The resulting widget drags and drops into iBooks Author (and seems to work properly at a quick glance). So, if you are having trouble with ‘unsupported media files’ converting animated gifs into unanimated gifs might help in some cases.

  • Safari Hangs and has to be restarted

Safari will open, will navigate to a few sites and then just stops working. It needs a force quit, then does the same the next time it's opened.
I've run a disk verification and repair. I've also deleted the flashplayer files (as recommended by some) - no measurable benefit from any of this.
    The setup: 1.25 GHz eMac PPC G4, 768MB ram, OSX 10.4.11, Safari 3.2.1 (4525.27.1)

The following usually works on both Tiger and Leopard:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Adding DNS codes to your Network Settings, should gives good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(An explanation of why that is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 / )
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8708.html
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
    Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

  • Here's a fix for Safari hanging and taking down the system..

There appears to be a serious bug in Mac OS X's lookupd which can pull the rug right out from under Mac OS X Tiger. While this bug could possibly be triggered in a number of different ways, there has been a recent rash of reports that have been tracked to some mainstream Web sites such as FoxNews.com using links to an adware site js.adsonar.com. This document describes a quick way out of the hang and a simple way to block links to js.adsonar.com from taking down Tiger again. While this doesn't fix the underlying lookupd bug itself, it prevents Mac OS X from hanging, while allowing you to continue using Web sites like FoxNews.com with full Java and JavaScript access enabled.
The symptoms of this problem are as follows:
    • You're surfing the web and the page you are on fails to completely load.
    • No further pages will load in your browser.
    • You can switch to other applications that may already be running and save any open files.
    • You can no longer launch any additional applications, their icons will bounce in the dock for a while and then they will just stop bouncing.
    • You can no longer use any other Finder functions.
    • You can no longer use command-option-escape to force quit.
    • You can not log out, restart or shut down.
Apparently these symptoms indicate that a low-level component of Mac OS X, lookupd, has hung. Since lookupd is used by many other parts of Mac OS X, it effectively hangs Mac OS X itself.
If this sounds like a problem you are having, try the steps in the following link to fix it.

    Hi Bee,
There is indeed "such a bug", though you may be fortunate enough to not be affected. Unfortunately MANY others are affected by this. I spent three days helping track this down (many of those 38 posts were while tracking it down in the Tiger discussions) and find a fix to this and thought that others might benefit by my efforts... By the way it's NOT a Safari bug, it happens in any browser, it's a "lookupd" bug which may be triggered by surfing to certain sites which contain links to "js.adsonar.com", which if you have JavaScript enabled can hang lookupd and take down your entire system... consider yourself lucky that it hasn't happened to you...
Here is some background information if you don't believe me:

I only posted this fix to the specific threads where people were having Safari hang, incase it might help them. Forgive me for trying to help them... I thought that was the point of these boards and that was why they started threads about their issues... I'd be willing to bet that this fix will indeed fix many of their problems...
I also posted one additional new topic here on the Safari board and one on the Tiger board for new readers looking for solutions to the same system hangs they may be getting while surfing.
If this fix does indeed help any of you other readers, please post back here so that Bee can indeed see that I'm not just posting here to waste my time...

  • JavaScript and "Open In New Window" not working.

I've been using Safari 5 since it came out and there were no problems. But recently my JavaScript has stopped working. Whenever I click on a link that is supposed to run a script nothing happens. Similarly when I click a link that is supposed to open automatically in a new window, nothing happens. I've tried reseting Safari but that did not help. I had this same issue with Safari 4 and the update to 5 solved it, but now I do not know what to do.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Security tab.
    Make sure Java is enabled.
And, from a Finder window select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
I had this same issue with Safari 4 and the update to 5 solved it, but now I do not know what to do.
If nothing above helps, install the v10.6.4 Combo Update
    Then repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac*.

  • Safari/JavaScript not working

My Safari was working totally fine until the other day when it randomly started freezing at pages like Sportsnet.ca, nhl.com, and other websites like that. When i fiddled around with different settings, I unchecked enable JavaScript, and it stopped freezing. How can i fix this?

I have the same problem. 10.5.7 and now i'm using Safari 3.2.3. I have tried Firefox and Camino, the same problem. Browser just freezes when opening some random page. When javascript disabled page loads. I had the same problem about a week ago, but after i posted it here, everything started to work. Yesterday it began again. I haven't updated or installed something new. Restart or repairing permissions doesn't help.

  • Remove safari 5 and put 4.1 again?

hi, I have a mac pro nehalem and safari 5 goes really crap, there is some way to uninstall safari 5 and put again 4.1? (I haven't seen any link to download safari 4.1 around here). Thanks in advance

It's high time that the myth of Safari 5 causing a rift in the space-time continuum and not working for anybody is laid to rest.
It works for the vast majority and there is no need whatever to revert to a previous version. If you do you will lose the security aspect of the update.
When it does not work, at least not perfectly, there are a few possible causes, all of which have remedies.
    1. Third-party plug-ins, add-ons, extension managers, whatever, have yet to be updated by their developers to comply with Safari 5 and therefore crash Safari.
Solution: Disable or delete them. You fill find them in one or more of these folders:
    Home/Library/Input Managers
    Hard Disk/library/Input Managers
    Hard Disk/Library/Application Support
(The one that caused most problems was the CT toolbar/ct plugin. Instructions for removing that has been posted many times, but please post back for a repeat.)
Close Safari and delete them, then restart Safari and it should be working normally. Alternatively drag them to the desktop and restart Safari. then add them back one at a time, restarting Safari every time, until you find the one (or more) causing the crash.
Check with the developers of the plug-ins in question for updates that are Safari 5 compliant.
    2. Safari hangs/does not finish loading web pages, or gives "Failed to find Server" messages etc.
(You should clear you cache and history files regularly.)
Probably a conflict between the DNS numbers supplied by your ISP and the way Safari 5 now does things.
Solution: Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security. Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
    3. Flash videos no longer play.
    (Particularly common with Snow Leopard)
Solution: You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
Now download and install the latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
and follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
    4. Still won't work
Solution: download and re-install the latest combo update for your system. Then download and re-install Safari 5 again. Then repair permissions.
    If required, repeat 1 - 3.

    <i>Locking duplicate thread.<br>Please continue here: [[/questions/1019198]]</i>
yahoo mail will not load in firefox nor aurora ok in explorer and opera
how uninstall javascript and then reinstall the latest version?

Hi, Barbara! Is the problem that you have a lot of different versions of Firefox on your launch bar? Or that you have a lot of different versions in a directory somewhere?
Either way, on the mac, you should be able to simply:
    1. Close all versions of Firefox
    2. Drag the applications to the trash folder, which will remove them from the folder or your dock
    3. Download Firefox with Safari at getfirefox.com
    4. Open the downloaded file by double clicking it
    5. Once that happens you will have a Firefox icon and a folder with an "A" on it
    6. Drag the Firefox icon onto the A, which will install it into your Applications folder
    7. Open your Applications folder and drag it onto your main dock
    8. You should be able to launch it from your dock by clicking on the Firefox icon.
    Thanks!

  • Keeps asking me to load javascript and cookies or turn them on?

My son is trying to go on a web site that you can play games but when it is done loading it won't open.  The web site states we should allow javascript and ccokies or tuen them on.  I have no idea how to do this because when I go to security javascript is already enabled!

Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Select: Never

  • Safari Crashes and Mail will not allow replies

    Hello,
Everything has worked fine until last week... our editor's computer runs Mail for his email and Safari is his browser. He is currently unable to respond to emails. When clicking respond it just fails to respond. If you click new the program crashes. In Safari if there is a form that needs to be filled and submitted the program collapses as soon as you attempt to fill in a form field.
In the report from Safari (version 3.2.1) the exception is EXCBADACCESS and the code is KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE
I have repaired permissions and checked to make sure javascript is enabled. All software updates are current. His mail settings are as they should be. His web browser preferences are unchanged.
Maybe a month ago I installed google desktop on his computer but everything has worked well since then.
Can anyone give me some ideas of things to look at or try?
    Thank you

OK, I read the post from ratz and I found the safari plist and deleted it and then did work... I also deleted the plist thingy I found for Mail and that didn't work either. Below is the error report when Safari crashed. Thanks for your patience with me.

  • Australian News Video Website Freezes Safari, Camino and Firefox

    http://video.news.com.au/ freezes all 3 browsers -
The main news website www.news.com.au renders and when you click on the video link it freezes Safari, Camino and Firefox -
You can't scroll or do anything but Force Quit -

The Engine that powers the video does set cookies if it set to "always" the site crashed my Safari once more.
This from my console, Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://video.news.com.au/ from frame with URL http://publish.vx.roo.com/newsinteractive/videopage/index2.aspx?bt=NS&bp=MAC&bst =SF&biec=false. Domains must match.

Then it plays nice as if it never crashed my browser.Really odd!
