Safari not uploading images

I am trying to help a friend who is unable to upload .jpg files to Ebay using Safari.  She is also unable to send email with .jpg attachments via her AOL online account.  Both just keep trying to upload the image and finally give up saying the process timed out.  These image file sizes are much less that 1 mb so I don't think it's a file size issue.  She is using Safari 5.1.5 and OS X 10.7.3.
I joined her wireless network with my MacBook Pro, Safari 5.1.5, and OS X 10.7.3, and tried uploading the same image to Ebay and had no problem.
The only thing I could think of trying was emptying Safari's cache, but that didn't help.
Can someone please give me some other ideas to try?  I would appreciate it.

We're having this problem here at work too. We upload tons of images to a password protected website. Our designers who are still on 10.3.9 have zero problems with Safari. Anyone on 10.4 (they're at 10.4.5 or .6) all have problems with Safari. The first upload usually works, but after that your success rate drops quickly. I have tried clearing caches, adjusting sysctl settings, etc., but nothing helps much, if at all. Restarting Safari or logging out of the site sometimes gets you another good upload or two, but then it doesn't work.
There are three things that have worked for us:
- Submitting again. If we just click our submit button once more, it works 100% of the time.
- Running Firefox. It works every time. It seems a little slower and has 10-20% more packets on a 9MB file than Safari, according to tcpdump.
- Running tcpdump. This is a Unix command, and must be run as root. This looks at packets being sent and received and can filter to just look at certain destinations. I was using this to see why Safari was failing, but it won't when you run this. I don't recommend this, since I don't know what else will break if I leave it on.
By the way, I found that by running Activity Monitor and viewing the network usage in the dock icon will quickly tell you if your upload is working. On a 9MB upload that takes 60-75 seconds, you can tell within the first 5-10 seconds if it is working since you see outbound traffic. If it isn't working, you will only see very small amounts of outbound traffic.

  • Safari can not upload images newly imported into iPhoto. I have to shutdown iphoto and safari before the latest import of images into iPhoto is found my safari.

When I want to upload images to facebook on safari - from a NEWLY imported album in iPhoto - Safari can not find the new album in iPhoto. Obviously the most commonly uploaded images are the recent ones. I am uploading them to a facebook page, not my own account - which is not possible from iphoto. So I have to shutdown safari and iphoto and then do the upload again. This has happened me three times now - and - well - its one of those annoying things that windows 95 could have done and super safari can't .... could apple sort this out sometime. Please.

You'll not get a rebuttal from me. I still run into Wizard of Oz moments.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Safari Not Uploading: Possible Solution

'Did a search in the forum for Safari not able to upload, and found numerous complaints. I too discovered I could no longer upload an image to an image hosting site -- but switching to Firefox encountered no problems. So I disabled two plugins I have for Safari (2.0.2); but that didn't help. I emptied Safari's cache; that didn't help. Then I disabled Safari's JavaScript -- and that seemed to have done the trick. So the last time I remember uploading an image was a bit over a month ago -- could that have been before Apple's last Security Update?

-- or it might have been after installing the last java release -- anyway, I installed both late after their release.

  • Safari not loading images but other browsers are.

As the title denotes, I'm having this issue with safari that some images are not loading and I only get a blue question mark square. I have seen other forums with this question but it seems that my scenario is a little different, because other browsers like firefox can display images with no problem. Also for example, when I do a google image search only several images get to load while others don't. If I click refresh they finally get loaded but sincerely they take a lot more time to load than on firefox (sometimes refreshing doesn't work either) It might not be such a problem in an image search but on pages like facebook it is quite a hassle.
I don't know what might be causing it, (I don't believe its got to do with my internet connection since firefox has no problems whatsoever.) At first I thought that maybe an update might do the trick so I installed Safari 4 Beta which gave me only a slight better loading of the images.
Now to help see my case I've got some points to say in advance:
    1) I don't think it is webpage specific but I frequently see it in google image search and facebook
    2) I am using mac OS X 10.5.6
    3) Every time an image doesn't load, the activity window says "can't find host"
    4) As said above, I'm using Safari 4 Beta. But still I had this problem with the previous Safari

    Hello,
We also have a problem with Safari only partially loading pages, or not loading them at all (a blank page is displayed). It happens intermittently, and affects some websites more than others.
It's definitely not an Internet issue as all other browsers (FF 3.5.1, latest Opera, Navigator, IE 6, 7 and 8 via Parallels Desktop) can display the pages normally.
I don't think it is related, but most of the websites that are affected are hosted at MediaTemple:
    http://www.bedsupperclub.com
    http://www.soundphuket.com
    http://www.silqbkk.com
    http://www.bedmgmt.com/
Reloading the page doesn't help (we tried reloading a gazillion times).
The issue affects all computers in our office (iMacs, MBP, MB).
We are using the latest version of Safari (4.0.2), it's an issue that we also experienced with 4.0 and the Beta.
We are gradually shifting to Firefox as this issue is really frustrating.

    Safari > Preference > Advanced

Make sure that"Disable Images" is not enabled.

  • I have problems with uploading images to my printing company have the images have been manipulated through CS6 i have saved images as jpeg but the printer company tell me they are not j peg, they will not upload images save from a camera are fine

I have problems with uploading images to my internet printing company when  the images have been manipulated through CS6 and  i have saved images as jpeg  the printer company tell me they are not j peg,
but images saved from my phone or camera images that have not been manipulated upload fine, What am i doing wrong?

Save/Export them as JPG. Photoshop defaults to PSD, so make sure you select JPG and not just rename the file to .jpg.
There are two ways to save them as JPG: Regular Save as option or Save for Web & Devices
    Take your pick.

  • Mobile Safari not showing images

    Hi there,
Since upgrading to 4.01 and then 4.02 on my iPhone, Safari seems to intermittently not show images on websites... does anyone know the reason for this and a solution?

I am having the same issue. I have found in my case the site I was working on is pulling content from JSON and the mobile app is using a Cache Manifest file. When I removed the manifest file reference I could see the images again.

  • Safari not displaying images on web pages

My Safari was working fine and then all of a sudden the images stopped displaying in the web pages. I thought maybe it was because my browser needed an update. I installed Safari 5 but i'm still having the same problem. I read in another forum that one should clear the cashe and trash the Safari preference file (com.apple.safari.plist)). i cleared the cashe but i'm not sure where to find the safari preference file. can someone please help??

On Vista, the plist file is in a hidden folder, but I don't immediately associate that particular plist with trouble displaying images on Windows systems. (Especially not on Safari 4.0.x installations, when the issue started for you.)
Can you check something for me? (This isn't going to be a cure in itself, but it will point us towards the most profitable lines of further troubleshooting.)
Create a new Windows User account with full administrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Launch Safari in the new account. Do images display in web pages in the new account?
(If they do display, we'll focus on preferences and settings files in the usual user account. If they don't display, we'll check on damaged Apple Application Support and Safari program files.)

  • Help, Safari not displaying images properly

I think I have narrowed the issue down to the display:inline-block that i have going on, but i thought this was supported in safari 4. Can anyone tell me why this sites images are not showing up properly?
    fotographitti.com/blog
It shows up perfectly in firefox and in ie8. I haven't tested in others as i am currently lacking resources, but from what I am seeing, the images show up really tiny in safari most of the time. Sometimes it will render them properly, sometimes it will only render 1 or 2 of them properly. Very weird. Chrome has the same issue, but is a little better about it.

Thank you for your reply. This is a site that I am designing, I know not much to look at, lol. The images are just there to test (and are not mine). I need to make sure that the site shows up properly or at least close enough on most browsers. It's weird that sometimes, it will show up properly and if I hit refresh it will get thrown out of whack, or if it's all screwed up and I refresh it will look ok again. I don't understand, why the images are showing up very tiny. I mean, I look at the page source and the code looks good, so why is this not showing up properly... ARRRRRGGGGHH!!!!

  • Safari not displaying images on ipad with retina display

I can see the images on my iphone 4s but the same page does not show the images on my ipad4. This is one of the urls-http://www.montereyboats.com/boats/cruisers-and-sport-yachts/260scr/#overview. There is 8 images on the top of the page that do not load. They do auto play, you can see the boxes switching in order but the pictures do not show up.

You're welcome. I tried private mode i Safari and it was still OK. On the settings> Safari page start at the top change search engine, go to the website anew and see if it makes a difference. If no difference change search engine back. Still on the same page scroll down to privacy and location. One by one change each setting, if no success change it back to the way you had it then try the next setting. Just to make sure we're viewing the same page, first you see the logo and boat and option for country. The next page has the eight pictures, right ?

  • Safari not loading images with UK2 webmail

Hi, i wonder if anyone can shed any light on this for me please. I use UK2.net webmail which i access through safari on my imac and ipad. For the last couple of days images have stopped loading with all my emails, (and won't load at all). I have tried firefox on the imac and this works fine, so it is definitely a safari issue. I have contacted UK2 and they have said that it's a browser issue not an issue with their server and that i need to contact Apple to see if they know what this is. Is anyone else having this problem or can anyone suggest a fix?
    Thanks

webmail which i access through safari on my imac and ipad. For the last couple of days images have stopped loading with all my emails
Try emptying the cache on your iMac and iPad.
One the iMac with Safari open, press Command + Option + E on the keyboard. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
On the iPad. Tap Settings > Safari. Tap Clear History then tap Clear Cookies and Data. Restart your iPad.

  • Safari not uploading photo

    Hi there,
I'm trying to upload a photo to classmates.com but it's just not happening.
My ADSL activity lights aren't lighting up while classmates is telling me to be patient and that the upload is in process. Which leads me to think that Safari isn't getting the file out.
I tried checking the cache and it's unlocked and set to read & write. I also emptied the cache. What else can I do?
    I'm using Safari 2.0.4 (419.3).

    Hi Hawaiian Starman,
I detailed what the problem was to their member support team. I wrote a good email, explaining the exact nature of the problem, where things had worked on their website (where I had got a picture to upload) and where things had not worked. This is what they said:
    Thank you for your reply.
Please be assured that our technical team is aware of this problem. We apologize for this inconvenience!
We're currently experiencing some technical difficulties, and we are working hard to correct these issues as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and ask that you please try again later.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience. As always, please let me know if I can be of further help.
So I guess I'll just try again in a week or so! As I had suspected after the photo had been received by one part of their website, the problem wasn't with my settings in Safari, or in my System Preferences.
I'm one of their "free members" as well, so I don't pay any membership fees there. Perhaps if I was one of their "gold members" the technical issue might be resolved sooner, but in all likelihood the problem affects free and paying members.

  • Safari not showing images as Question Marks

    Hello Forum,
we have a strange behaviour from a shop website in Safari for Mac and Windows Platform.
It is a site with frames. When i click on the Categorie Nagivation it comes to situations when one of the frames reloads.
After this frame reload the pictures only show as question marks. When i click one of the images it will reload the pressed picture and shows it. The other ones remain as question marks.
The System Layout goes like this: Apache Server takes requests and redirects it to an application shop Server.
Most of the Images are on Apache, the top navigation with the problem comes from the application server.
Does anyone has a clue where to search for this problem?
Firefoy and IE don't have this problem.
    Regards
    Jannis
P.S. its the newest Version of Safari installed on Mac or on Windows.

    Hi Carolyn,
    thanks for your answer.
The setting is still checked in Apperances.
I tried to unckeck and check it again, but it woh't solve the problem.
What i think is, that Safari has a problem with our system design or with http headers he interprets in another way than other browsers.
What i found out too is, that there is Java Script. Are there differents how Safari interprets them?
    Regards
    Jannis
