when I try and open a tab that is the same as the page I'm currently on it closes it self. Not when I type the full address, but when I use the arrow keys to select the url and press enter. I just don't like typing in the same address 5 times, when the older Firefox worked.

  • Firefox always opens all tabs that were opened when last closed

Firefox, out of the blue, started to always show my tabs from the last session when it is started. I checked that Firefox not listed in the task manager list after closing. So I tried the following:
    - changing the option "when Firefox starts" to all three of the available choices
    - change the browser.startup.page setting to 0 manually via "About:config"
    - starting Firefox in safe mode.
None of these changed the behavior. It still opens the tabs that were last opened.
I am running V25.0. Any suggestions? This is a major annoyance.

    Hello,
Please make sure that you have not activated Firefox's restore tabs feature. See the article here:
    [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-previous-session#w_configuring-session-restore Configuring session restore]
If it is enabled then you can disable it by following the instructions in that article.
I hope that helps. Let me know if not.
EDIT: sorry I linked to the wrong article. Fixed now.

  • 3.6 would re-open prior tabs after hard shut-down - How can I get 4.0 to remember them?

I installed 4.0 hoping that it would not freeze anymore as 3.6 often did. However, 4.0 freezes too. But that's not my problem. Instead:
How can I get 4.0 to remember the tabs that were open when I close Firefox in Windows Task Manager?
    - like 3.6 was able to do: "Uups, sorry, sth happened... - Do you want to re-open the prior tabs?" or something like that ;-)
Now with 4.0, every time it freezes, I have to re-open ALL the tabs I am working on...., logging in all my websites, etc etc... :-(
    Someone got any idea?

You can also use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session.
    Another possibility is to use:
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Once Firefox crashes & restarts, homepage opens (not tabs that were open prior to crash) even though "tabs from last time" is selected for when Firefox starts.

When Firefox crashes and subsequently restarts, the tabs that were open are not restored. I do not get the "well, this is embarrassing" dialogue box that gives me the option to restore tabs. When restarting, Firefox just gives me my home page. This happens even though I have selected under options for Firefox to open previous windows & tabs upon start up.

Hopefully you still can use History > Restore Previous Session to get back to where you were.
To restore the regular behavior of resuming your previous session after a crash, you probably need to change one of your preferences back to its default value.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash''' to switch its value from false to true.
If you prefer to always get the "this is embarrassing" screen rather than having Firefox re-open all the windows and tabs immediately, also change this preference:
    (4) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes''' and change the value from 1 to 0.
Hope that helps in the unfortunate event that you have a crash!

  • Lync 2010 Recurring meetings don't work post-migration when 2010 server is shut down

I've got an interesting issue here. I completed my Lync Server 2010 -> 2013 migration about 6 months ago, and everything has been going fine as far as I can tell. I left one of the servers up and running in the 2010 pool for a while. I finally decided
it was time to fully decommission Lync Server 2010, so I shut down my 2010 server. I did not delete from the topology just yet, in case something bad happened. Well, when I shut it down, I got reports from some users that they couldn't get into their Lync
    Meetings.
The only conclusion I have been able to draw is that this happens for recurring meetings that were scheduled before the Lync Server 2013 migration. It seems that those meetings did not get migrated with the users. Does anyone have any guidance for this situation?
I'm guessing there's no way to actually move the meetings. At best, I'd like to simply be able to identify users who are in this situation and have them reschedule their meetings. I think there are few enough of them that we can handle that.

    That's seems odd per:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688011.aspx
    What is the user experience?
Have you followed all the decommission steps? Have you tried Move-CsConferenceDirectory:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412968.aspx
"When you create a dial-in conferencing Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), those URIs are assigned unique SIP addresses. However, SIP addresses are difficult to translate to devices that are not SIP-aware; for example, a public switched telephone network
(PSTN) telephone can’t translate a SIP address. Because of that, Lync Server uses conference directories as a way to help these devices locate, and connect to, dial-in conferences. This is done by creating a SIP conference directory that is associated with
each dial-in conferencing URI, and is identified by an integer value rather than a SIP URI. PSTN telephones and other devices can then use these numbers instead of a SIP URI when connecting to conferences; the directory number is included in the PSTN conference
identification users enter when connecting to a dial-in conference.
Occasionally, you might need to move a conference directory from one pool to another; for example, if you decommission a pool you might need to move your existing conference directories to a new location. The
Move-CsConferenceDirectory cmdlet enables you to move conference directories to a different pool."

  • Firefox 17 always opens the tabs that were open the last time I closed it. I do NOT use restore history.

This has started happening since I upgraded to v.17. I close Firefox either with the Red X or the exit button on the dropdown menu. The next time I open, it displays whatever pages were open when I closed it.
I have always had Firefox use my Google account as my home page. It will not display.
It seems to me that in your quest to keep updated (how many this year...?) that you've lost a little something. This is very bad behavior and I'll just stop using FF altogether if it isn't fixed soon.

Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that there are no hanging Firefox processes left in the task manager.<br />
It is usually best to use the Exit item in the Firefox or File menu to close Firefox.
    See:
    *"Hang at exit": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs
*"Firefox hangs when you quit it": https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Firefox+hangs
You can check for problems with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Firefox opens all tabs that were open when last closed

I am running Linux Mint 16 with FF 28.0. FF sometimes opens all the previous tabs I had open, rather than the tabs I have set to open as my home page.
I have tried all the solutions I can find here or elsewhere on the web, including the about:config settings, resetting FF, uninstalling FF and re-installing, checking four user.js (could it be something different in Linux?) file, etc.
    I did this:
    (3) Double-click browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and change the 1 to a 0 (a zero) and OK that.
from this thread with the same problem:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/976041
and FF just re-starts with all the previous tabs open.

This can happen if Firefox didn't close properly the previous time.
Does this still happen with browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes set to 0 as that should bring up the about:sessionrestore page to choose which tabs and windows to restore?
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Rename (or delete) the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

  • FF 20.0 now opens with tabs that I closed in previous sessions even when I close without checking the open tabs box. How to fix?

    OS 10.7.5; FF 20.0

Firefox will automatically resume your previous session if it detects that it crashed. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot that on Mac, but you could check out the "Firefox hangs when you quit it" part of this article: [[Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix]].
You might also want to review your home page setting as some tabs might appear there that weren't intended to open every time you start Firefox:
    Firefox > Preferences > General

Sorry you've decided this is a rant but the objective observer would know that  all I want is a solution to at least the 3 issues mentioned. I spent the better part of 2 nights with techs that had me doing all the standard refresh items, i.e. setting the PRAM... and as time goes on my frustration grows. Last week spent days trying to find the driver software Maverick now needs and Apple is supposed to have it and doesn't. So at what point does this become a rant? I've done things the right way had mucho patience thus far and as a kicker, Apple won't let me download Mountain Lion to reinstall and rid my self of Maverick. Tell me, would you complain?

  • Up now stuck with reading list as unticking in safari preferences gas not worked

Trying to use facetime on mac air to ipad cannot get contacts up; now stuck with reading list as unticking in safari preferences has not worked how do i get rid of reading list and add contacts to macair please?

This seems to have been fixed by going to settings>iCloud, deleting Safari, and then adding it back again, effectively resetting iCloud for Safari on the iOS device.

Make sure your apps are updated.  You might try Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads - Updates = "On".
You cannot go back to an old operating system.

First correct the pirate disc issue. Buy OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard from Apple for $19.99 here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Snow Leopard is the latest version your macbook 1,1 will run. Oitlook is part of the Microsoft Office suite, if you want outlook you'll need to also purchase Office. If you can get by with Apple's mail program there are free alternatives to Office like Libre Office or Open Office.

I installed an updated bios, ran a diagnostic test using F2 and under the compenant test for the keyboard it failed and gave me this

now while trying to type all this I found other letters now working as well as me not being able to input the semicolon with either shift key. frustrating since I got this laptop in June so it's still under warranty. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so how do i fix mine? I'm pretty tech savvy so feel free to let me know, or is my only option is a replacement from HP?
    Thanks!
