Salary question

I have an upcoming interview with a company for a Media Digitizer position. The company is fairly large and well known. I spoke with the HR person and he said the job may now require nights and weekends, which I was ok with. Basically my job would simply be to digitize from various sources and add it to a video database.
So i'm wondering what the typical salaries are for such a position. Also, if nights/weekends are a requirement, would the average salary be higher?

Typically in this biz, 10 hrs/day is straight time. hours 10-12 are time and a half, and anything beyond that are double time- until you hit GOLDEN TIME.
After a 40 hr week, it's automatically at least time and a half for weekends.
But you know what? NOTHING is stopping you from telling them what you want for working weekends!

  • Junior / Intermediate Software Developer - Calgary, Alberta Region Only

    We are currently hiring software developers and looking especially for LabVIEW experienced developers. The positive is for a full time software developer who can apply existing LabVIEW skills or is keenly interested to develop in LabVIEW by applying other programming language experience.  Please, candidates must be local for interview and the position, no remote options for this role.
    You can read the full job description for this position and details about how to apply at our site here:
    http://www.advmeas.com/about/career/

    It is quite a career change, but I think that is expected that most people will go through a couple of them in their careers.  Any programming experience will help you greatly.
    To answer your specific questions, at least the ones I am knowledgeable about..
    1 & 2.  I think the difference between a junior and intermediate and guru is mainly length of time working in the industry developing these type of applications.  Flex is still new for the most part.  You should be familiar with ActionScript3.  You should be familiar with XML and other web standards.  A lot of the Flex programmers I know deal with all aspects of the development including the database, middleware (CF, .NET, Java, Ruby, etc..), so familiarity with that will help you.  my impulse is to tell you to learn C# and .NET given your C expeience, however I honestly don't know how much C / Assembler experience will apply to C#.  Knowing about relational databases won't hurt you either.  There are jobs where you just do Flex and someone else builds the services / database for you, but knowing the backend piece will help you.
    3. Not at all!  Most people doing Flex have very little Flash experience.  They come from web developer backgrounds dealing with middleware and database programming, not from a Flash / design backgrond.
    4. Adobe has formal courses.  There is also the learn flex in a week videos.  If you like podcasts, listen to The Flex Show which has both audio interviews and screencasts.
    5.Working on Open source projects will help you more than hurt you.  You'll get contacts, and experience.  It is easier to get the job if you can offer samples of your work.
    6-7. I can't help withi nterview or salary questions, sorry.  I think that is pretty company specific and region plays into it too.
    8. There is a huge demand for Flex Developers.  It is a growing technology.  I expect the demand to keep up for a while.
    I hope some of this is useful.

  • Question : Standard Salary compensation Iview

    Hello all,
    I'd like to know a particular thing about the standard Iview Total Compensation Statement.
    Today (in March) I earn 1000u20AC each mounth and my manager wants to pay me more in May.
    He will enter in backend my new salary today (in March) with a start date on May 1st.
    So in May, i'll earn 1500u20AC.
    I'd like to know if my new salary (1500u20AC) will be displayed in the Total Compensation Statement Iview today (in March) or at the start date (May 1st).
    Do I have the possibility to work on the date to display information in standard or should I develop a specific Iview?
    Thank you for your answers.

  • Question about Salary Accural

    Hello,
    I am not from an accounting background, so pardon me if the questions here sounds too easy
    1. May I know what exactly is the purpose of salary accural in accounting? What does it do and what is the purpose of that?
    2. How does the salary accural works in the SAP system? Is there a particular table or it is just a combination of wage types? And if it a combination, may I know what are the wage types it is normally obtained from or is there a formula or function in ABAP that would do the job?
    3. Is this concept used differently for different pay period? i.e., would it make any difference if the pay period is bi-weekly or monthly and normally for is salary accural computed for each payroll period or is it running once before the termination of the employee or does it vary according to the business requirements?
    I would appreciate if someone has some material on this topic that is available online as well. Thanks a lot!

  • A question about the impact of SQL*PLUS SERVEROUTPUT option on v$sql

    Hello everybody,
    SQL> SELECT * FROM v$version;
    BANNER
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE    11.2.0.1.0  Production
    TNS for Linux: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
    SQL>
    OS : Fedora Core 17 (X86_64) Kernel 3.6.6-1.fc17.x86_64I would like to ask a question about the SQL*Plus SET SERVEROUTPUT ON/OFF option and its impact on queries on views such as v$sql and v$session. Here is the problem
    Actually I define three variables in SQL*Plus in order to store sid, serial# and prev_sql_id columns from v$session in order to be able to use them later, several times in different other queries, while I'm still working in the current session.
    So, here is how I proceed
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON;  -- I often activate this option as the first line of almost all of my SQL-PL/SQL script files
    SET SQLBLANKLINES ON;
    VARIABLE mysid NUMBER
    VARIABLE myserial# NUMBER;
    VARIABLE saved_sql_id VARCHAR2(13);
    -- So first I store sid and serial# for the current session
    BEGIN
        SELECT sid, serial# INTO :mysid, :myserial#
        FROM v$session
        WHERE audsid = SYS_CONTEXT('UserEnv', 'SessionId');
    END;
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    -- Just check to see the result
    SQL> SELECT :mysid, :myserial# FROM DUAL;
        :MYSID :MYSERIAL#
           129   1067
    SQL> Now, let's say that I want to run the following query as the last SQL statement run within my current session
    SELECT * FROM employees WHERE salary >= 2800 AND ROWNUM <= 10;According to Oracle® Database Reference 11g Release 2 (11.2) description for v$session
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e25513/dynviews_3016.htm#REFRN30223]
    the column prev_sql_id includes the sql_id of the last sql statement executed for the given sid and serial# which in the case of my example, it will be the above mentioned SELECT query on the employees table. As a result, right after the SELECT statement on the employees table I run the following
    BEGIN
        SELECT prev_sql_id INTO :saved_sql_id
        FROM v$session
        WHERE sid = :mysid AND serial# = :myserial#;
    END;
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> SELECT :saved_sql_id FROM DUAL;
    :SAVED_SQL_ID
    9babjv8yq8ru3
    SQL> Having the value of sql_id, I'm supposed to find all information about cursor(s) for my SELECT statement and also its sql_text value in v$sql. Yet here is what I get when I query v$sql upon the stored sql_id
    SELECT child_number, sql_id, sql_text
    FROM v$sql
    WHERE sql_id = :saved_sql_id;
    CHILD_NUMBER   SQL_ID          SQL_TEXT
    0              9babjv8yq8ru3    BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINES(:LINES, :NUMLINES); END;Therefore instead of
    SELECT * FROM employees WHERE salary >= 2800 AND ROWNUM <= 10;for the value of sql_text I get the following value
    BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINES(:LINES, :NUMLINES);Which is not of course what I was expecting to find in v$sql for the given sql_id.
    After a bit googling I found the following thread on the OTN forum where it had been suggested (well I think maybe not exactly for the same problem) to turn off SERVEROUTPUT.
    Problem with dbms_xplan.display_cursor
    This was precisely what I did
    SET SERVEROUTPUT OFFafter that I repeated the whole procedure and this time everything worked pretty well as expected. I checked SQL*Plus documentation for SERVEROUTPUT
    and also v$session page, yet I didn't find anything indicating that SERVEROUTPUT should be switched off whenever views such as v$sql, v$session
    are queired. I don't really understand the link in terms of impact that one can have on the other or better to say rather, why there is an impact
    Could anyone kindly make some clarification?
    thanks in advance,
    Regards,

    Hi Dariyoosh,
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON has the effect of executing dbms_output.get_lines after each and every statement. Not only related to system view.
    Here below what Tom Kyte is explaining in this page:
    Now, sqlplus sees this functionality and says "hey, would not it be nice for me to dump this buffer to screen for the user?". So, they added the SQLPlus command "set serveroutput on" which does two things
    1) it tells SQLPLUS you would like it <b>to execute dbms_output.get_lines after each and every statement</b>. You would like it to do this network rounding after each call. You would like this extra overhead to take place (think of an install script with hundreds/thousands of statements to be executed -- perhaps, just perhaps you don't want this extra call after every call)
    2) SQLPLUS automatically calls the dbms_output API "enable" to turn on the buffering that happens in the package.Regards.

  • Questions in Ad Hoc Query & How to Configure the EEO standard reports

    Hi all,
      I have a  question in Ad hoc query report in HR.
    <b>How to:</b> Get a list of the total number of employees included in a particular report at the end of the report. Ex: If i create and run a report for salaried employees, sorted out by company codes, how can i get a sub-total and total no. of employees listed in the report.
    I tried Ranked format, but when you print the report it doesn't retain the report name on the top.
    -->I have a question regarding the Standard reports for EEO and AAP
    <b> How do I</b>
    1. Start configuring these report
    2. What are the things i should have before configuring it in IMG
    If anyone can provide me with some documentation regarding the EEO and AAP report configuration that would be great.

  • How to Get Previous Month Salary for a particular employee?

    Hi
    I am developing a report to get the Net Pay Difference from Previous month.
    I am using logical database pnp.
    My question is how can we get the last month (Previous from current selected month) salary of perticular employee. I read the thread which is related to this but I can't understand the reply's. I think it is due to that I am new in ABAP and my experience in only 22 days. If someone reply with code example then it will more helpful for me.
    Also If you can tell me the table name from where we can get the salary of particular month of particular employee then it will also helpful for me.
    Regards
    Iftikhar

    Hi,
    Payroll data is stored in cluster tables.
    You can either use macro for retrieving the data or Function module.
    1. Use FM -CU_READ_RGDIR for getting the RG directory values.Pass
      employee Number and molga.You will get all the sequence Numbers from this
      FM.
        The last record will be the latest  one.
    2.  Then Use FM - PYXX_READ_PAYROLL_RESULT for getting the payroll
         results table.Pass cluster ID- 'IN'  ,pernr ,sequence number for which period
          you want (In your case ,current period minus   1) and
          READ_ONLY_INTERNATIONAL            = 'X',
    3. You will get all the results from PAYROLL_RESULT                     = it_result
      Then you can loop this internal table like LOOP at it_result-inter-rt into wa..
    Get the net pay value(/560 wage type)
    Reward points if helpful.
    Regards,
    Manoj.

  • Efficemcy question: Add a field or use a function

    I have a table with information about employees. Each empl receives a salary and I need to show the cumulated salaries over a period of time - for every employee.
    so imagine this, every time you ignite the program you see a list of empls (100+) and their cumulated salaries.
    Question: Should I add a column cumulatedSalary to the table (and every time an empl recieves a salary - add it to the comulted field) or simply to use the SQL aggregate function to sum up all empl's salary.
    What is more efficient?

    Keep a table of employee information including their id.
    Keep a separate table with the minimum of the employee id, salary paid and the date of the check was issued.
    When you want to show the employees salary sum the records over the date range applicable. Use a join and compute the sum at the database level.
    Efficiency should only be one of your concerns.

  • Please help me...Javascript question

    Hi everyone,
    what i am trying to do is..
    EX:
    TABLE: EMP
    empno empname sal entered_by
    1 john 1000 user1
    I have a form on the table EMP.The users want to enter the same record again(because mutiple users enter the same record) but want an alert message when they hit the create button like.. Eg:
    when user2 is trying to enter this data..
    empno: 2 (generated by sequence)
    empname: john
    sal: 1000
    he wants to see an alert message like: THE Record is Already exists in the database which was entered by USER1 (But he can enter the same record)
    what i did is.. I have a javascript which calls the application process (PL/SQL) where it check whether the data entered is already there in the database and returns back an alert message like this:
    JAVASCRIPT:
    ==========
    <script language=javascript>
    function  f_insert_record()
            var get = new htmldb_Get(null,&APP_ID.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=INSERT_RECORD',0);
            get.add('P2_EMPNAME',html_GetElement('P2_EMPNAME').value);
            get.add('P2_SAL',html_GetElement('P2_SAL').value);
            gReturn = get.get();
            var a = gReturn.split("|");
            if(gReturn)
                if (a.length > 0) {alert(a[0]);}
            else
                null;
    </script>APPLICATION_PROCESS
    ===================
    DECLARE
       l_error   VARCHAR2 (4000);
       V_NAME VARCHAR2(1000);
       V_MSPR_ID NUMBER(15);
       I NUMBER;
       V_MYNUM STRING_OBJ := STRING_OBJ();

      END LOOP;

      FOR I IN V_MYNUM.FIRST..V_MYNUM.LAST LOOP
        --dbms_output.put_line(V_MYNUM(I));
        V_NAME := V_NAME || '   ' || V_MYNUM(I);
      END LOOP;
      IF V_NAME IS NOT NULL THEN
        l_error := 'The record already exists in the database which was created by '||V_NAME;
      END IF;
      HTP.PRN(l_error);
    END;everything works fine...when i have a ONBLUR event on the SALARY field.
    But i want the same thing to be achieved with the ONCLICK event on the CREATE button (Template based button).
    The code i have shown over here is just an example...But the requirement is the same..Multiple Users can enter the same record but they want to see an alert message like this record was entered by USER1,USER2.
    The only think i am not able to figure out is the ONCLICK event on that create button.
    I tried like this Target: URL
    javaScript:(f_insert_record();doSubmit('CREATE');)
    I am not getting the alert message.
    Please help me to solve this
    thanks

    damn it! Those little quotation marks.....
    I already did figure it out awhile after I posted my question
    Thanks anyway!

  • Print Option in the Salary Statement. What is the Default Printer ?

    Hello
    First off im new to the whole SAP ESS / NetWeaver theme and try to get a grasp of it.
    Along the way one of my Collaegues asked me to find out about the Printing option in the Salary Statement of our ESS Portal.
    I have been searching the Web quite some time now and hope to find the answer here.
    The only thing I found was this Thread ...
    configuring printers in portal
    ... but this couldn't answer my question to the extent i hoped.
    My Collaegue told me that we are using a Web Dynpro iVew to show the Salary Statement,
    and that you will get a Message stating : "Document is been Printed" as soon as you hit the Print Document Button.
    But the Document never showed up wether on the Local Windows printer nor on the SAP printer spool.
    We are guessing that the Document is send to SAP and then waiting to be Printed,
    but we can't find it in the spool of the coresponding Server.
    We are using a 3 Layer System with a Server wich is running SAP ("PHR")
    a Server wich is running the JAVA Apps. ("PP1") and the Desktop PC of the User.
    We think that if the User triggers the Print the Java Apps Server hands down the command to the SAP server
    wich then saves the file and stats in the ESS page "Waiting for Print to start".
    But we cant find this file anywhere in the spool of the SAP Server.
    We are running SAP 6.4 Enhanchmend Package 1 on the PHR.
    On the PP1 we are running an SAP Netweaver 7.0.
    The Desktop PCs are running on Windows XP SP2 with IE 7.
    As i said im new to the whole theme and can not differentiate wich of the infos you need and wich you don't.
    So i try to give as much as Possible but can only explain the problem to you the way my Collaegue's explained to me.
    With kind Regards
    Marcus Labohm

    Hi vijayols,
    Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I gather you would like to learn how to reverse the print order when sending a multiple page documents to your Deskjet 2545 Ink Advantage printer.
    I have included a document on print settings using Windows 8. In the section titled "Change print settings from the Windows 8 Desktop" there is a sub-section titled "Understanding Desktop print settings".  It explains the various options available and one of them is the page order of the print job.
    You mentioned that you have a Laserjet 9050.  That is a commercial product so to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums. You can do this at the link below.

  • Calculated values: how to? Newbie question

    Hi,
    I have a view object with attributes X and Y (both numbers). How can I add a computed attribute (X*Y) ?
    I tried to
    - do "New" attribute in View Object wizard"
    - then set flag Queriable to false
    - remove that attribute from the SQL query
    - edit the code of the method getX*Y() to return getX().multiply(getY());
    but It doesn't work. I get an error (oracle.jbo.DMLException) JBO-26080: Error while selecting entity for Poste
    ----- LEVEL 1: DETAIL 0 -----
    (java.sql.SQLException) ORA-00904: "AMOUNT_TOTAL" : invalid identifier
    => My questions are
    1) How can I add a computed attribute on a view so it will work
    2) I have a master and a detail view object. I want the master to have an attribute getAverage() computed on the detail row set. If I override the get() method in the master view object, how can I get the detail rows so I can compute it ?
    The computing of these attributes are actually a little trickier than just a multiply operation. That's why I don't want to do it via a select sum().. or select avg(..).
    Help much appreciated.
    Rodolphe -

    When you build a view link, you have an option to generate accessor (see the 'View Link Properties' panel on the View Link wizard).
    You can also set the accessor name. The default is to generate an accessor to traverse from the master to detail.
    When you call this accessor, it will return an oracle.jbo.RowIterator. Using that, you can traverse through rows in the detail. For example:
    // This is on DeptView
    public BigDecimal getAverageSal()
       // Get Emp's that belong to this Dept.
       // 'EmpView' is the view link accessor name.
       oracle.jbo.RowIterator iter = (oracle.jbo.RowIterator) getAttribute("EmpView");
       oracle.jbo.Row rowDetail;
       float salTot = 0.0;
       int count = 0;
       while ((rowDetail = iter.next()) != null)
          int sal = ((Integer) rowDetail.getAttribute("Salary")).intValue();
          salTot += sal;
          count++;
       if (count == 0) return new BigDecimal((double) 0.0);
       return new BigDecimal((double) (salTot / count));
    }Thanks.

  • How to populate salary admin screen from grade rate

    Hi there,
    I am trying to set up grade related pay in an organization where there are a large number of employees with multiple assignments. It is my understanding that the flexible Grade Ladder Functionality can only be used against the primary assignment. Is my understand correct?
    For this reason I am now resorting to the use of the old grade and payscales functionality. I have set up payscales, point values and grade steps and points and have assigned them to the employees assignments.
    How do I then populate the salary admin screen with the grade rate and also pick up the value and use it to process basic pay.
    Having wasted time setting up grade ladders, any advice on this would be very greatly appreciated
    Many Thanks
    Kev

  • New version of Numbers - two important questions

    I'm running the new version of Numbers and have some questions.
    First let me say that I switched from PC to Mac earlier this year.  I decided I wanted to try Numbers instead of Excel.  Although I do have Office for Mac installed as well.  I setup a basic check register.  The "type" field is a pull down thing so I can select the type of transaction...deposit, debit, etc.  That's still working fine.  I have a description field that is for who or what is being paid or deposited.  The Category field is for the type of item...salary, credit card payment, utility, etc.  In the previous version, I would start typing in those two fields and if I had previously typed something, it would ome up for me to select.  This made things very easy for me.  Now in this new version, that feature is not there.  I did some quick reading in the forum and I believe I read that this feature is no longer in the new version.  Is that correct??  Why they heck did they do that....it makes things harder.  I guess I could try to setup a pull-down for the category field but frankly I don't want to do that.  For the type field (deposit, debit, etc), I don't mind having a pull down as there's not a lot of choices there.  But the category field would have quite a few items.
    Second question is another annoying problem...
    In the previous version when I opened the file, it would be right where I saved it.  I always save the check register at the start of the next entry so it's right where I need it to open next time.
    Every time I open the file (even after saving it with the cursor on the next entry), it opens all the way at the top.  It's extremely annoying to have to scroll all the way down to the next blank entry.  Is there any way to fix this??
    I saved a template of this file before I started using it in June.  I will start a new file using the template each year.  I didn't go all the way back to January when I started this file, I just started it from June.  Still have the old Excel file for previous info.  So the file isn't as "long" as next years would be...but it's still very annoying to have to scroll down every time I open the file.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hi Jerry,
    That's what I do every time.
    I select the first cell on the next blank line and save the file.  Although I was using the menu to save & close.
    I just tried it again and used the shortcuts for save and close.  I had the cursor in the first cell which is the type cell pull down menu.  Saved, closed and re-opened and it was all the way back at the beginning again.  Tried it once more but this time istead of selecting the pull down cell, I selected the next empty one.  Same thing.  When I re-open it goes back to the beginning.
    I don't understand it.  It was fine before I updated to the new version of Numbers.
    I checked my budget file.  I scrolled down, clicked a cell and saved it.  Went back in and it was right where I left it.  Strange.  I think I just figured it out....
    There were two differences in the files.  The register has the top two lines frozen, the budget doesn't.  The register only has one sheet and it wasn't renamed.  The budget has a sheet for each month named accordingly.  So I went to the register and renamed the sheet.  Scrolled down to the blank entry, saved and closed.  Opened it back up and it was right where I left it.
    Don't understand it, but it looks like it's now fixed.
    Thanks.

  • Salary Data iview inside General Information

    Hello Colleagues,
    In MSS, we added the "Salary Data" iview to the "General Information" section/workset. However, when we select an employee in the "Search" area, no data is displayed in the "Salary Data".
    However, the "Salary Data" works when used inside the "Compensation Information" section/workset.
    The Search iview for General Information is com.sap.pct.erp.mss.generalinfo_employeesearch
    The Search iview for Compensation Information is com.sap.pct.erp.mss.compensationinfo_employeesearch
    My question is: Is there any way of having the "Salary Data" iview working under the "General Information" section (with General Information Search..)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marco

    Hello Marco,
    The iView will not event on selection by just adding the standard delivered view  to the General Information Page. You'll probably have to do the following steps first:-
    1) Add the Salary Data FPM view to the General Information FPM application perspective using Self-Service Administrator
    2) Create a new Salary Data iView by selecting Webdynpro Java Application ->MSS Empl Profile application --> General Information --> Salary data. Add this new iView to your General Information Page
    Hope this helps.
