Flash not playing on html page after template is altered
Hi,
Can anyone help. If i alter anything on a template none of the .swf files on pages based on that template will work when previewed in the browser.
I am using DW CS3.
Anyone any ideasGood day,
This issue can be considered as a limitation at some point because Dreamweaver lacked the ability to "auto-update", although it was not really the best practice to include Flash contents in a DW template.
There is a workaround though. You may need to edit the template (.dwt) itself and work in Code View.
While in Code View, use the Find and Replace (Edit > Find and Replace) feature so it will be easier for you to find what you are looking for.
In the Find and Replace window, choose Current Document as value for Find in, and Source Code as Search.
In the Find input field, type --> 'src' (including the single quotes) and click on Find Next.
Once you found 'src', pay attention to the text next to it enclosed in single quotes. The value in the single quotes is the path of where the Flash file is saved. try to remove ../ if you happen to see it. (do this if the Flash file is located in the same folder where the HTML page which uses it is saved)
Using Find and Replace again, this time, try to search for 'movie' (including single quotes). You'll see again the text next to it which is the same value as what you have searched before. Do the same thing, try removing ../. (do this if the Flash file is located in the same folder where the HTML page which uses it is saved)
Save the DW template file and try to preview the pages again in the browser.
I hope this helps.

Christine R.

Linking a flash button to a html page
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to link a
flash button to a page in DW?
ThanksPlace this actionscript into the hit area of your flash
button, then export the flash as a .swf and place onto the
dreamweaver page...
on(release){
getURL("YOUR_DESIRED_PAGE.html","_self");
This will open the new html page in the same window. Hope
that helps.
You can get a cheap but awesome tutorial on Flash buttons
here...

tutorials really helped me, that's all. -
Flash button - linking to HTML page - weird problem
There could be a really easy solution for this, but I can't
figure it out. I have a simple button that links to an anchor
within an HTML page. Here the actionscript for the button:
on (release) {
getURL ("test.html#two");
when the button is pressed, the HTML page comes up but only
to the top of test.html. The '#two' is not passed to the URL .
Seems like everything after '#' is ignored. How can I get around
this?hi
on(press)
getURL("path of html page");

Flash not seen in HTML page anymore.
Hello,
SW Flash has just stopped working in a HMTL page after years of working.
It works in DW edit area when I play it, but not on linux site anymore.
We have not changed any code on page. Tried in FF, IE and Chrome.
Page is here http://www.lonnielee.com/index1.html
I sometimes get a Shockwave panel saying that it is trying to access ... s.timg.com via internet.
Many thanks
ozI see the same thing - no Flash content. You need to ask in the Dreamweaver forum because this isn't anything to do wiith Flash Player - it's in your code.

Exit from a Flash App. (not an HTML page)--is there a command()?
I'm building a multimedia stand-alone *.exe type application
using Flash. I want to
have an "Exit" button which goes to an exit Screen (Do you
really want to Exit? Yes/No)
Is there an "Exit" function somewhere in the Flash classes?
Thanks,Adobe Livedocs:
"fscommand () function
public function fscommand(command:String, args:String =
""):void
Language Version : ActionScript 3.0
Player Version : Flash Player 9"
Doesn't look like they are fazing it out to me. Didn't see
anything about it being depreciated.

Calling a function in flash on an HTML page
Hi,
I need help regarding how to call a flash function from an HTML page. The idea is to have a link on my page (HTML link) that once clicked displays a movieclip in flash. I know i have to use the asfunction in HTML. So far I have just created my swf file with a function called showInfo. I've embedded the flash into an HTML page. I have then added a link on the HTML page as follows:
<a href="asfunction:showInfo">Link name</a>
but when I click it says:
"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (asfunction) isn't associated with any program."
is there a piece of code I need to write in flash for this to work?
Thanks
Eugenehave your html link call a javascript function and use the externalinterface class in flash to communicate between javascript and actionscript.

Lightroom Web Gallery in HTML page?
Hello,
I want to export a web gallery from LR 1.3 and insert this gallery into an html web page in Dreamweaver 8. This would be huge! I have researched it and found that it just may not work.
1 of the errors: the first gallery I made in LR and published online, is the gallery that shows up in the html page.
Another error: the gallery only shows that its loading (inside html page).
Attempts:
1: drop the flash file into the html page and resize it to fit
2: put the bin in the resources folder and drop the flash file in the html page
Primary resource:
http://blog.bluefire.tv/?p=18
Any help would be outstanding!
Thank you,
Tyler Fraser
www.fraserimagery.comWell,
It's not an Adobe issue, it's a hosting issue. I have GoDaddy, and, after four or five phone calls, I got someone who really knew what they are doing. He said they host Unix for Linnus users, and a Windows based for Windows users, so that's not it. It was a simple matter of moving files. I was creating a subdomain this time, so perhaps that made it a little more difficult. Anyway, you name the gallery with the same name as the destination folder. Then, if the index.html page isn't in the right place, you move it to a place in the tree where it is right. Call your hosting company if you can't get it right. Persistence and patience will pay off.

Referencing HTML page from within a movie clip
Hi
Hope someone can help with this.
I have a simple horizontal scrolling gallery of 24 thumbnails
in Flash, the thumbnail images are loaded into the boxes using
actionscript. I would like each thumbnail to link to a html page of
my choice. There is a movie clip instance called panel with the 24
buttons inside it and on the first button as a test I've placed the
following action script:
on (release) {
getURL("team.html","_self");
When testing this movie from within Flash (CTRL, ENT) the
button links to the html file (which is in the same folder as the
SWF) with no problem. The problem is when I preview the page in a
browser and try to click on the first button nothing is happening.
I've tried it in both IE7 and Firefox with the same result.
The flash thumbnail clip is placed as a flash object into a
html page using dreamweaver.
I'm sure this is something simple such as navigating the
timeline but I've tried a few things like _root. but still no joy.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks, JoTry
on (release) {
getURL("
http://site.com/team.html","_self");

White flash appers only ln html
White flash of movie appears against gray background of page.
I've set the background color in the document setting to the same
gray color as the html page but I still get a momentary flash.
Movie itself is a transparent white gif (text), and it appears
without a white flash in the Preview mode.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Nick"spoti";
Add a bgcolor parameter/attribute which matches the
background color
of your flash document to your object & embed tags. Note
that flash publish
will add a bgcolor parameter/attribute matching your flash
document
background color to the html code it generates if you wish to
see an
example. -Tom Unger -
i have 5 html pages that share a common header, footer, and sidebar. how do i use my nav bar to change the content of the body without duplicating a lot of code? thank you!
i inherited the website. It’s for a non-profit and is not very
sophisticated, and neither am I in webdesign. It currently has multiple
pages that are identical except for that body section, so whenever i change
the navigation (in the sidebar) I have to update every html page. I want
to have one basic page, and just call in the different body content based
on the link the user selects from the nav bar. How can i do that using a
script? i am using Dreamweaver.

Strange behaviour when embedding HTML page in Air
Hi,
I'm trying to embedd a HTML page to a Air application.
The HTML page has a simple Flex application (TestFlex4Project.mxml) with a button that changes one HTML element on the web page (TestFlex4Project.html) using ExternalInterface. If I run the Flex application using the HTML page it works just fine and when I click the button the HTML ellement is changed and the mouseover- and onclick events works. If I embedd the HTML page in an Air application the mouseover- and onclick events does not work any more. Why?
If I use Aternative 1 in the HTML code (instead of using Aternative 2 in the HTML code where I'm editing the innerHTML property) the mouseover- and onclick events works when the HTML page is embeded in Air. Why?
Even more strange is that if I remove the line [<img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" />] from the HTML page the Flex application dose not show at all when embedded in Air. Why?
You can try the online sample here and the files here.
The application looks like this:
And if you click the button and click the upper most text you will recieve a message like this:
But not when I use innerHTML and embedd the HTML page in Air. Can anyone please help me with this issue. Is it a bug or what am I doing wrong? I need to change some HTML elements using innerHTML.

Link button to local html page using AS3
I am using AS3 and having trouble linking a button to a local html page
Okay, I tried both of the codes and it is still now working.
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("file:///fishcom/Home.html"));
I get a Windows dialog box that states that the path can not be found.
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("./fishcom/Home.html"));
This goes to http://./fishcom/Home.html but not my page.
The Flash file and the HTML page are in the fishcom folder on my desktop. Very frustrating because this was so easy in AS2. -
Flash not displaying on url page
Hello. I embedded a flash (.flv) file in html page via dreamweaver cs4. the page displays the flash locally, and also remotely if i remote desktop and view. However when I launch the website via live url (www.sitename.com/example.html) all i get is a blank white box where the flash content should be. I've checked permissions via flash security settings, and can't seem to make it work. I believe the code is valid or it wouldnt play on the local and remote desktops. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!
well for grins i decided to embed the video/audio into a full swf file versus flv with link from swf. as long as the file is fully embedded in swf, it plays on the web just fine. for some reason with linkback from swf (think 11kb) small file to the original flv it wont play on the actual URL. hope this helps anyone else, even though its not technically 'fixed', ill consider it a work-around for now.
