Same itunes different accounts

Just purchased an Imac! Great first time and moving from a PC. Decided because of youngish children to create them induvidual accounts, but how do I enable them to see and sync their Ipads to the 1 itunes library i had on my PC
i.e if any of them log in under their user accounts I want them to see one itunes library common to the IMAC.
Home sharing does not help in this situation, just wondered if anybody else had had this issue and solved it....
Im sure there is some doc, or advice but not been able to find it.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I recommend you to move your iTunes library from the PC to your Mac. To do this, follow these steps > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1751 (Do the "Restoring your iTunes Library backup" step on the Mac).
If you want to use the same iTunes library for all the users, you can put the iTunes library on the Shared folder. To copy the iTunes library to the Shared folder, follow these steps:
1. Open a Finder window (press the left icon on Dock), select the Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type /Users/Shared
2. Now, open a new Finder window (you can do this from the File menu), select your external drive in the Finder's sidebar (under "Devices"), and copy the "iTunes" folder you have there to the "Shared" folder. If you want, you can just drag the "iTunes" folder to the first Finder window you opened.
3. On all your users, open iTunes holding the Option key, search the iTunes library stored on the Shared folder and choose it. Now, iTunes will open automatically with that iTunes library

  • HT4137 I have two iPad's that use the same iTunes/store account. I want the two devices to play games with with other, but it recognizes them as the same. I have set up two different iCloud accounts, but still not recognizing the users as different. What

Hello, I have no idea if my question went out, so I'll post it again. I have two iPads (one 3rd gen and one 4th) that use the same iTunes/store account. I want the two devices to game with each other, but the apps recognize them as the same. I have created two different iCloud accounts in an attempt to differentiate between the two, but no luck. How can I continue to use the same iTunes/store account for music and movies, but also have the two devices recognize each other for games?

You can share your iTunes ID and still have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs, they don't have to be the same.  If you kids don't already have an iCloud account, have them set up separate accounts on their devices using separate IDs.  If they are already sharing your account, migrate their devices to separate accounts.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos they wish to keep to ther camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll.  If they are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to them so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in their new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from thier device and won't effect your device), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone (if using iOS 7).  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create their new account and choose Merge to upload the data.  Once everyone is on a separate account you can go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into each account separately and delete your data from their account.

  • Back up 2 different iphone5's on the same computer or same itunes/icloud account?

How do I back up two different iphone5's on the same computer or same itunes/icloud account?
I'm afraid one phone will end up with the other person's cell phone ap's and information on it...since this happened once before.
How do I save them separately but also keep the ability to share the same account music, aps, etc.
I'm wanting to back up the phones so we can download the new operating system next.

    - Disable autosyncing: go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods ...syncing">
    - Connect the iPod and go to the music, apps and other panes for the iPod and check the boxes that say only sync the checked items.

  • Sharing music on same computer, different accounts

I am the administrator of my computer, and would like to share my music files with my kids (and vise versa), who log in under different account names on same computer. How do I create a "common" set of music files that all of us can access under different accounts?

I have never done this, but what I would recommend is...
Get your kids to Duplicate their iTunes folder in their own account, and append their name to the duplicate, before moving (not copying, or you may soon run out of space) this to the Shared folder.
Then follow the advice above, except for the bit about not trashing the kids folders, as they will still have their main iTunes folders in their own accounts. After you've found that everything works ok, you can then ask your kids to clear out their own iTunes libraries to free up space.
    Two things before starting:
    - check there is enough space on your hard drive
    - BACK UP all the iTunes folders to an external hard drive, or to DVDs

  • HT4914 Can more than one icloud account share the same itunes match account?

I have itunes match on my ipad, iphone and two pc's, my wife has her own itunes account on her iphone and her laptop. Is it possible for her to share my itunes match account so that I only have to worry about one itunes library?

    Weston962 wrote:
can my wife also access the same iTunes Match library
    Yes.
using her - different iTunes account login details.
No because iTunes Match is tied to your account.
    Try this on her iPhone...
    Settings > Store.
Tap her acount name, log out then log in with your iTunes account.
    Now Settings > Music.
Turn on iTunes Match (it should ask for your account password).
She should then be able to go back to Settings > Store, log out of your iTunes account and log back in with her iTunes account.

  • Same app, different accounts

    Hi everyone,
i have an iPad2 and my son has a iPod Touch 2gen. We have two different accounts and we're sync with two different iTunes libraries.
The question is simple: i bought an app paying 2,99€ with my iPad2 and my account, then i downloaded the same app with my son's iPod Touch with my account, and correctly i didn't pay the app again, but he noticed that after a few weeks he can't run the app, and now he still can't. Can you tell me why and what do i have to do in order to avoid this problem again? Thank you all

Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them.  If your son is logged on to his own Apple ID on his iPod, he will not be able to use any apps purchased with your Apple ID.

  • Problems texting using multiple phones on the same itunes/icloud account

My family and I recently upgraded to IO7, prior to that my wife, my son and I each have an Iphone and my wife and I each have an Ipad all devices worked indepedently. Since the IO7 upgrade neither my wife, son or I can nolonger text eachother, if my wife text me, some of the text goes to my Son.
Pior to the upgrade we had all 5 devices set to the same Itunes account. My wife and I each have an Iphone 5, my son has an Iphone 4s, also we have two Ipad2 on the account.
How do we get everything to work normally again???
    I hope someone can help.

  • Same iTunes, different iCloud accounts: all contacts lost from one iPhone appeared on the second iPhone

    Hello there.
    Got following situation:
iPhone A - iTunes Store (Apple-ID) account = [email protected] / iCloud account = [email protected]
iPhone B - iTunes Store (Apple-ID) account = [email protected] / iCloud account = [email protected]
Somehow all contacts in iPhone B disappeared and appeared on iPhone A (together with the ones already existing).
    My questions:
    what's the cause of this?
how do I get back (iPhone A with only its original contacts, iPhone B with the "disappeared" contacts)?
After I will have put everything back as it was a couple of days ago, I'd change the iCloud email for iPhone A, so that it doesn't match the Apple-ID anymore: do you think this might help?
    Thanks and regards,
    Flavio.

    Hi there.
Thanks for your reply. Somehow after logging into the iCloud account of "iPhone B", the contacts reappered on the iPhone B itself!!! Weird!
Now, I'd still like to do the change for "iPhone A" and move the iCloud login/account away from the Apple-ID: is this achieved by simply disabling iCloud sync and re-enabling it with a different email address? What about the "old" data which would remain on iCloud? Any way to do a "clean" migration here?
    Thanks and regards,
    F.

  • Two iPhones to the same computer different accounts?

We got a new Windows 7 computer and need to know how to sync both our iPhones to this computer. I used to sync my iPhone to our old computer and my wife synced to her laptop. I have been trying everything I have read on how to do this on the net for the last few days and cannot get it to work. We each have our own iTunes accounts but will be sharing the same music. We don't want to share our address books and photos so I have read you need to create 2 user accounts. I have tried this and the main account has access to the music library but the alternate user doesn't show any music in the my music folder. Do I have to copy all the music into 2 different places in order to get the music on both users? I'm at my wits end and just can't figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

This is an Outlook problem, and a bit tricky to fix via long distance through a forum. So if you have a local Windows expert ask them to look at it. If you want to try yourself I'll see if I can help.
Does your Outlook sync to an Exchange server, or do you just use it as an email client for POP3 or IMAP?
Has your wife ever used Outlook with here own email account? It sounds like the answer is no, so how does she now access her email?
What you need to do is log on as your wife, then create a new Outlook account using Outlook under her Windows ID. In Outlook go to Menu/Options/Email Accounts and choose to set up a new account.

  • Can I run two ipods from the same itunes library/account?

I have a 20gb photo colour ipod and have just bought a new 30gb video ipod. I need to know whether I can run them off the same library and itunes account or do I have to have separate user accounts?
      Windows XP   iTunes 7.0.1.8

    Yes, you can.
You can either have multiple user accouts on your computer, or create separate playlists for your two iPods in iTunes.

  • Copying songs on same computer - different accounts

My son and daughter each received an iPod for Christmas. They are managing their own iTunes library under their own login on the same iMac that I use. There are a couple songs in my library that they would like to sync to their iPods. I know I can share my library and they can play these songs in iTunes, but they want them on their iPods. Can I copy these songs into their libraries? These are protected songs I purchased from iTunes. I am not sure whether the license for a song is per computer or per user. I know I cannot copy a song to another computer without authorizing that computer with my Apple ID. What about copying a song on the same computer into another user account? Will that affect my licensing at all? Is there a better way to do this for just a few songs? What if they purchase a song they wish to share?
Thanks for any help you can give!

  • Can i share the same iTunes Match account across my iMac and my MacBook?

I recently subscribed to iTunes Match and am in the process of uploading my entire collection of files from my home iMac into the Cloud. This works fine for my iPhone and iPad, but not for my MacBook (which I use at work). Every time I try to 'Turn on iTunes Match' on the laptop (which has no music files on it), it says 'only one library can be matched at a time. If you continue, the other iTunes Match session will be stopped and this computer's library will be matched instead.
I'm worried that if I press 'Add computer' on my laptop, it'll undo all the work I did on my home iMac (it took days as I have so many music files). Can iTunes Match be use across TWO Apple computers? It seems to be asking me to choose between one or the other.
    Please help.

    Hi,
Have you finished adding match from your imac. If so, wait until this is complete before using it on you MacBook.
If you have, you should not be getting the massage about matching only one library at a time. However, if you do select to continue, it wll not undo what you have already done.
Do you have any different music on your MacBook? If so, this will be added to your match library. You will see all your matched / uploaded music on your MacBook as it does on your iPhone or ipad.
If the match process had not complete on your imac, it will continue until complete.
Essentially, you can only match one library at a time.

  • Two iPhones, same iTunes, different Apple ID. Can they both sync some elements?

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to a new iPhone, passing my old 4 to my wife. She created a different AppleID and manages her phone with a separate laptop/iTunes. She'd love to be able to sync photos and music with my iTunes library (specific iTunes playlist and subsets of my Aperture library). Is this possible, considering that:
I'd prefer not to create another user on my Mac to do that, and
Only music and photos are to be shared; apps, contacts and everything else must stay separated
I'm under the impression that I can add my wife's iPhone to the "manageable" iOS devices on my Mac and set the sync items as to exclude contacts, apps, calendars and whatever else I don't want to sync, but I'd love to be sure of that before trying anything that could wipe my wife's stuff and replace it with mine...
    Thanks in advance,
    Edoardo

An iOS device can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time. So if you try to sync it with yours the content will be wiped. So, doing what you want to do really isn't possible.

  • Can 2 iPhones be synched with the same iTunes and Account

My husband and I both have iPhone 3G's. We just upgraded to the iPhone 4's which are set to be delivered today. We both download app's to our phones using my iTunes account. I have mine synched to my PowerBook and back up regularly. He has never synched his computer with anything, back it up or upgraded to the latest software. Can I synch his to my Powerbook to back it up so that I can do the transfer? Or will it erase all of my information?
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks all!

    It'll blat your information.
The iTunes/iPhone model is single user, so if you have many devices, they all share the one set of info.
There is a way - if you set up a separate user account on the Powerbook for your husband, he can have his own iTunes/iPhone setup, which will take care of his contacts etc. (One important point - when his PB account is set up and *before syncing his iPhone*, create a single contact and a single appointment on eth Mac's Address Book and iCal in his account. That forces iTunes to synhronise, instead of deleting all his phone data, which is sub-optimal)
If you want to share the iTunes media (music etc), you can move the iTunes library to a shared folder (one that both his and your account can see)
As an alternative, you could set up a MobileMe account for him, and sync to the cloud - that would avoid setting him up as an account user on your PB.
He really should back up his stuff. iPhones are great, but they're not indestructible

  • While in Hotmail, Firefox crashed & now I can't open or delete messages, however, on the same computer-different account- my Hotmail works fine.

While a request to print a sent email was being executed (successfully), my attention was diverted away from the computer screen. When I returned, the Firefox "crash" notice was on the screen, but everything appeared fine so I didn't file a report. I exited Hotmail and later signed in and found out I can not open or delete any messages. I exited Hotmail, switched computer user accounts and opened my Hotmail under the computer's administrative account. Under the adm. account my Hotmail works without a problem. Switched back to my computer user account, signed in to Hotmail and the original problem still exists. What can I do to get Hotmail to work in my computer user account?
