Following 2 things are the most important steps
"A) identify the table as hierarchy table:
wd_this->go_table->if_salv_wd_table_settings~set_display_type( if_salv_wd_c_table_settings=>display_type_hierarchy).
(wd_this->go_table is the reference to wd alv object:)
"B) mark the columns you want to have as nodes with following statement:
ls_col-r_column->if_salv_wd_column_hierarchy~set_hierarchy_column( value = abap_true ).
(ls_col is reference to the column)

MiniSAP 6.20: ALV tree not working in background
Good day!
SAP provides a sample ALV tree program, BCALV_TREE_DEMO, which could be submitted in the background.
However, it does not work in MiniSAP 6.20. It's kind of bizarre as it works in our Test system.
Does anyone has any idea what's happening.Good day!
The ALV tree report is submitted in the background.
By right, it should produce an ALV tree report in the print spool.
However, it does not seem to work. I checked the program and found there is a logic to check whether it's a background job or not. If it is, it would not create the container.
It's bizarre that it does not work in MiniSAP 6.20 but it works in 6.10 -

AlleiahThere is no hierarchy of nodes when building an ALV or Table Tree in WDA. You still provide a flat structure of a single node. What you do is specify certain columns to be hierarchy columns. The framework then builds a sorting/grouping around these columns and turns them into the "pesudo nodes" of the tree.
This can be done via configuration or via coding:

Remove buttons in ALV grid display in ABAP Web Dynpro
Hi,
Sub: ALV grid-->Web Dynpro ABAP.
Request guidance to prevent display of the buttons "Microsoft Excel" and "Print Version" (which provide options to export the ALV grid output into an Excel format document).
Is there a way we could hide this from being displayed on the ALV grid in a Web dynpro ABAP component output?

really simple solution is to call cl_salv_wd_model_table_util=>if_salv_wd_table_util_stdfuncs=>set_all( abap_false ). This deactivates all ALV functionality.
For individual setting cl_salv_wd_config_table if_salv_wd_standard_functions~set_<x>_allowed.

Although you might not have the sample data to run the application, you should still be able to look at the source code of the application. Also don't be confused by the File Upload prompt of the test applications. It just is there if you want to override the data in the database. If you just press the upload button without specifying the file it will instead read the data from the database. If you database tables are empty, you can run the program BCALV_GENERATE_ALV_T_T2.
Now as far as adding child nodes - that isn't exactly how things work with the ALV TREE. You don't actually have a heirarchy of nodes like when creating a tree element. You can only set set columns as hierarchy columns. It then uses sorting and grouping based upon these columns to make a psedo tree. However your data has to remain flat.
For example you can take the flat SFLIGHT data in the example and define a hierarchy column of CARRID and CONNID.

Hi Everyone
I am developing a new application using ABAP Web Dynpro. I am using ALV. I want to give the user the option to select either 0 or multiple rows in the ALV grid. However, I want to hide the standard Select All/Deselect All push button that appears in the top left hand corner. This is because we do not want the user to simply select all and then click on a pushbutton to complete the process. If they wish to do this, they must manually select each item first of all. Anyone have any ideas? I've looked at the underlying ABAP classes for WD4A, but cannot find a method to do this.

I am able to display output in tree format. But I want to add the double click functionality to some of the fields in output. Means if I double click on some value in output tree, it should call some transaction. Please help me with this issue of double clicking.

Double click event on item in a alv tree report doesn't get triggered. I thought I was doing everything right. Please help me out.
Look at the code below and tell me what else I need to do.
