Sample Labview .vi For Random Anatomy Course

I am learning Labview and my first challenge is to build a course for one of my daughters who is taking Anatomy in her nursing program.  I would like to find an example of a vi that asks a question or shows a picture and the users selects A/B/C/D of which one is correct and three are incorrect.  Hopefully someone from the collective can get me there close.
I'm thinking I would use an array which has the following elements using a 3 dimensional array.  The three elements in index 0 would be {num, question, link to image}.  I'm thinking several hundred questions.  Also thinking of using a random number generator to randomly select the questions.  Use a second array which shows {num, wrong answer}.
Request the collective point me to a vi which gets me close and I'll pick away at it.  Eventually I want to move to test equipment but trying to start somewhat simple first.
Tony

OK, so here's the game with the images and sounds which I got off the web back then. The main VI is called main.vi.
Keep in mind that besides the points I mentioned previously, it also requires some OpenG VIs. You can either install OpenG or remove them and find replacements. Also, it uses some relative paths which might require some changes to the code if you build an EXE, but I'll let you figure things out.
And yes, the sounds are just the WAVs that Windows had. It was for a five year old and any sound was good enough for my purposes.
Try to take over the world!

    Thanks,

    the plan is to cover all the training materials.. BPC420, 430,440 in next 2-3 weeks if possible. Though Immediate need is to learn planning .
    Looking at SAP training support files (I have course material) or any complete case study data which I can do from scratch.. I have just been doing it for 3-4 days.. already understand the basic stuff.. Pretty comfortable with SAP ECC & BW (both technical and function stuff)..

  • Need Java code for random text.

    To all you Java programmer Gurus out there.
    How hard is it to make a small Java program whose whole purpose is to ask a user how many random characters they want and then proceeds to generate a text file full of RANDOM characters A-Z and a-z ?
    The characters could repeat it does not matter as long as they repeat randomly.
    I've found all kinds of code examples for Random password generators and things like that but none quite do what I want them to do.
    sample of what the output file might look like

  • Collecting samples of data for analysis

    I’m afraid I am quite new to labview so excuse the simple line of questioning. I am receiving values from a plc and I am looking to collect two different samples of data for analysis:
    I would like to collect 40 values and once collected, rotate the sample so the oldest value is replaced by the new one, but maintaining an array of 40 values. This is to calculate the rolling average of the latest 40 values for the duration of the while loop.
    Secondly, I would like calculate the average of all values collected for the duration of the while loop. This means the sample will keep growing for the duration of the while loop and I will need an array of increasing size to be analysed.
    I know the array functions can do this, however I am unable to figure out how. Any assistance or examples to help achieve this would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,

    Here is a quick (and dirty) way. I know that there are more elegant ways, can't look at them at the moment, but this may give you ideas.

  • Creating Labview VI for Newport's ESP6000 motion controller

    I am working on creating a Labview VI for ESP6000 motion controller (Newport). I want to move to stages independently one by one and acquire synchronized data from the analog input of the controller during the motion of the one of the stages. If there is anyone working with Labview on ESP6000, I will be glad to dicsuss common issues, obstacles, sub vi's etc.
    ceyhun

    We built a test station for an automotive component with the ESP6000. The biggest limitation we ran into was the 1000-sample buffer capacity of the analog input. We were hoping that it would behave like the NI DAQ boards. It was not our choice to use the ESP6000. The customer supplied it. The whole setup cost in excess of $9,000. The NI equivalent would be about 2/3 that much. Anyway, Newport supplies a driver that does work. It takes some work to get everything going properly though.

  • Ideas on generating seeds for random number generators?

    Does anyone here have any ideas or know of any good links to articles that discuss how to generate good seeds for random number generators?
    I am aware that I could always probably call SecureRandom.generateSeed as one technique.
    The major problem that I have with the above is that I have no idea how any given implementation of SecureRandom works, and whether or not it is any good. (For instance, Sun seems to hide their implementation outside of the normal JDK source tree; must be in one of their semi-proprietary sun packages...)
    I thought about the problem a little, and I -think- that the implementation below ought to be OK. The javadocs describe the requirements that I am looking for as well as the implementation. The only issue that still bugs me is that maybe the hash function that I use is not 1-1, and so may not guarantee uniqueness, so I would especially like feedback on that.
    Here's the code fragments:
         * A seed value generating function for Random should satisfy these goals:
         * <ol>
         *  <li>be unique per each call of this method</li>
         *  <li>be different each time the JVM is run</li>
         *  <li>be uniformly spread around the range of all possible long values</li>
         * </ol>
         * This method <i>attempts</i> to satisfy all of these goals:
         * <ol>
         *  <li>
         *          an internal serial id field is incremented upon each call, so each call is guaranteed a different value;
         *          this field determines the high order bits of the result
         *  </li>
         *  <li>
         *          each call uses the result of {@link System#nanoTime System.nanoTime}
         *          to determine the low order bits of the result,
         *          which should be different each time the JVM is run (assuming that the system time is different)
         *  </li>
         *  <li>a hash algorithm is applied to the above numbers before putting them into the high and low order parts of the result</li>
         * </ol>
         * <b>Warning:</b> the uniqueness goals cannot be guaranteed because the hash algorithm, while it is of high quality,
         * is not guaranteed to be a 1-1 function (i.e. 2 different input ints might get mapped to the same output int).
         public static long makeSeed() {
              long bitsHigh = ((long) HashUtil.enhance( ++serialNumber )) << 32;
              long bitsLow = HashUtil.hash( System.nanoTime() );
              return bitsHigh | bitsLow;
         }and, in a class called HashUtil:
         * Does various bit level manipulations of h which should thoroughly scramble its bits,
         * which enhances its hash effectiveness, before returning it.
         * This method is needed if h is initially a poor quality hash.
         * A prime example: {@link Integer#hashCode Integer.hashCode} simply returns the int value,
         * which is an extremely bad hash.
         public static final int enhance(int h) {
    // +++ the code below was taken from java.util.HashMap.hash
    // is this a published known algorithm?  is there a better one?  research...
              h += ~(h << 9);
              h ^=  (h >>> 14);
              h +=  (h << 4);
              h ^=  (h >>> 10);
              return h;
         /** Returns a high quality hash for the long arg l. */
         public static final int hash(long l) {
              return enhance(
                   (int) (l ^ (l >>> 32))     // the algorithm on this line is the same as that used in Long.hashCode
         }

    Correct me if I'm incorrect, but doesn't SecureRandom just access hardware sources entropy? Sources like /dev/random?What do you mean by hardware sources of entropy?
    What you really want is some physical source of noise, like voltage fluctuations across a diode, or Johnson noise, or certain radioactive decay processes; see, for example
         http://www.robertnz.net/true_rng.html
         http://ietfreport.isoc.org/idref/draft-eastlake-randomness2/
         this 2nd paper is terrific; see for example this section: http://ietfreport.isoc.org/idref/draft-eastlake-randomness2/#page-9
    But is /dev/random equivalent to the above? Of course, this totally depends on how it is implemented; the 2nd paper cited above gives some more discussion:
         http://ietfreport.isoc.org/idref/draft-eastlake-randomness2/#page-34
    I am not sure if using inputs like keyboard, mouse, and disk events is quite as secure as, say, using Johnson noise; if my skimming of that paper is correct, he concludes that you need as many different partially random sources as possible, and even then "A hardware based random source is still preferable" (p. 13). But he appears to say that you can still do pretty good with these these sources if you take care and do things like deskew them. For instance, the common linix implementation of /dev/random at least takes those events and does some sophisticated math and hashing to try to further scramble the bits, which is what I am trying to simulate with my hashing in my makeSeed method.
    I don't think Java can actually do any better than the time without using JNI. But I always like to be enlightened; is there a way for the JVM to generate some quality entropy?Well, the JVM probably cannot beat some "true" hardware device like diode noise, but maybe it can be as good as /dev/random: if /dev/random is relying on partially random events like keyboard, mouse, and disk events, maybe there are similar events inside the JVM that it could tap into.
    Obviously, if you have a gui, you can with java tap into the same mouse and keyboard events as /dev/random does.
    Garbage collection events would probably NOT be the best candidate, since they should be somewhat deterministic. (However, note that that paper cited above gives you techniques for taking even very low entropy sources and getting good randomness out of them; you just have to be very careful and know what you are doing.)
    Maybe one source of partial randomness is the thread scheduler. Imagine that have one or more threads sleep, and when they wake up put that precise time of wakeup as an input into an entropy pool similar to the /dev/random pool. Each thread would then be put back to sleep after waking up, where its sleep time would also be a random number drawn from the pool. Here, you are hoping that the precise time of thread wakeup is equivalent in its randomness to keyboard, mouse, and disk events.
    I wish that I had time to pursue this...

  • Adobe Captivate 8 system variable "cpQuizInfoAnswerChoice" is empty for random multiple-choice questions.

    Does anyone run into this problem when capturing the user answer for a random question slide? Adobe Captivate 8 system variable "cpQuizInfoAnswerChoice" is empty for random multiple-choice questions.

    Hi Shriyansh.
    The reason I am interested in capturing the user answers in Submit All situation is that I know after I published the test using SCORM 2004, all the user responses were captured in "cmi.suspend_data" because my test can resume the test to the last exit question in the middle. However, when I looked at the suspend data value, I have a hard time to understand the pattern and pick out the meaningful user question responses data. I really need help from you to understand how the suspend data value was constructed and how to parse this data. Another area I thought it's easy to get the user question responses data is the interaction records, but I always got only one question (the last randomly sampled question) interaction record. See the following generated XML SCORM 2004 4th edition data. Could you help me figure out how to interpret the following suspend data to get the users responses to each test question?  And why I only got one question interaction record? Thanks again for your help, Zhuoran.

  • Needs sample ABAP code for field routine

    Dear Expert,
    There is a field "Pay Scale Group" in my DSO which stores the data in the format
    AA1/B1/CCC2/DD2/EEE1, A1/BB2/CC2/DDD3/EE2 etc. These data has to be transferred to
    InfoCube where "pay Scale Group" in the InfoCube will store the data like EEE1,EE2 etc.
    I need to write a field routine on the transformation between DSO and Cube.
    Can any one please help me with the sample ABAP code for this scenario.
    Some more examples for better understanding of the requirement:-
    Data in DSO(Source)            Data in Cube(Target)
    ===================            ===================
    AA1/B1/CCC2/DD2/EEE1            EEE1
    AAA1/BB2/CC1/DDD3/EE2           EE2
    A2/BBB2/CC2/DDD3/EEE5           EEE5
    AA2/BB1/C1/DDD3/EE3             EE3
    A3/B1/CC2/DDD1/EE4              EE4
    Many thanks in advance.

    Please do not dump your code requirements in SDN
    Edited by: Pravender on May 18, 2011 11:37 AM

    Hi,
    You can use the following code :
    Suppose the technical name of the field coming from DSO is ZPAY_SGRP.
    And also for example let me take one record, that is ZPAY_SGRP = AA1/B1/CCC2/DD2/EEE1 .
    My assumption is that there will always be 4 '/'.
    In the field routine write the below code
    data: V1(5) type c,
              V2(5) type c,
             V3(5) type c,
              V4(5) type c,
             V5(5) type c.
    data : VAR1 TYPE /BIC/OIZPAY_SGRP.
    split VAR 1  at '/' into V1 V2 V3 V4 V5.
    result = V5.
    V5 will be having the characters after the last '/' .That is V5 = EEE1.
    Hope the above reply was helpful.
    Kind Regards,

  • Need sample source code for calling stored procedure in Oracle

    Hi.
    I try to call stored procedure in oracle using JCA JDBC.
    Anybody have sample source code for that ?
    Regards, Arnold.

    Thank you very much for a very quick reply. It worked, but I have an extended problem for which I would like to have a solution. Thank you very much in advance for your help. The problem is described below.
    I have the Procedure defined as below in the SFCS1 package body
    Procedure Company_Selection(O_Cursor IN OUT T_Cursor)
    BEGIN
    Open O_Cursor FOR
    SELECT CompanyId, CompanyName
    FROM Company
    WHERE CompanyProvince IN ('AL','AK');
    END Company_Selection;
    In the Oracle Forms, I have a datablock based on the above stored procedure. When I execute the form and from the menu if I click on Execute Query the data block gets filled up with data (The datablock is configured to display 10 items as a tabular form).
    At this point in time, I want to automate the process of displaying the data, hence I created a button and from there I want to call this stored procedure. So, in the button trigger I have the following statements
    DECLARE
    A SFCS1.T_Cursor;
    BEGIN
    SFCS1.Company_Selection(A);
    go_Block ('Block36');
    The cursor goes to the corresponding block, but does not display any data. Can you tell me how to get the data displayed. In the future versions, I'm planning to put variables in the WHERE clause.

  • Adaptation of LIFA (LabVIEW Interface For Arduino) to other Arduino compatible boards

    Hello evryone,
     I am trying to use a ''Sakura board", which is an Arduino compatible board, having similar programming as Arduino. This board is manufactured by Renesas; more specifications on it can be found on the following link: http://sakuraboard.net/gr-sakura_en.html
    What I would like to know, is if the firmware used for LIFA to interface Arduino with labview, or the ChipKit firmaware, can be used to this kind of Arduino compatible boards.
    My aim, is to use the Sakura Board for acquiring signals from various pins(Be it digital or analog), and setting other pins (Digital) parralelly, using labVIEW, as this is done using LIFA, or LabVIEW interface for ChiKit!!
    Thanks in advance for your support.

    I haven't had any experience with the Sakura board, so can only go on the information on the website.
    I've used the Arduino LabVIEW interface previously, and it basically uses serial communications between the PC and the Arduino. This serial interface is provided by the on-board USB-serial converter (an ATMega8u2 running custom firmware).
    From what I can tell about the Sakura, it appears as a storage device when plugging into a PC, and doesn't seem to have a USB to serial converter. If this is the case, then the LIFA toolkit won't work. That said, my understanding of the Sakura board may be incorrect (for example I'm unsure what operation modes the slide switch changes between). If you can confirm it has a USB-serial port then LIFA may work. I guess the key thing is that the serial port is required.
    You may be able to use a software serial port (http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/SoftwareSerial) on the Sakura to communicate with a PC, though that would require a PC with a serial port, or an external USB-serial converter. This approach would also require you to modify the LIFA arduino code (located in vi.lib\LabVIEW Interface for Arduino\Firmware\LIFA_Base) to reference the software serial port. It's probably a long shot that this will work, as the software serial library has been written for AVR chips, making use of their specific internal timers.
