SAP Business One Partner Certification Question

We are going for SAP B1 partner certification. I wanted to check if it is must to DI API calls only. or Can I make queries to db. If anybody has any experience, please let me know.
I am trying to build a general ledger report for B1 by writing plugin to B1. I am using C#.
The question I have is that can I use db queries directly or I need to call DI API's only for the partner certification to clear.

Hi Sachin,
Usually you should try to use the API. But it's ok to use db queries as long as they don't change the data (e.g.: SELECT statements).

Print layout design - SAP Business one 2005 B

I am designing print layout for a sale invoice
in SAP Business one.
My question is
1. How to display excise information like
Excise duty rate,Excise duty Amount &
Education cess rate, Edu.Cess Amount
Sales tax rate,Sales tax Amount for a AR invoice
in print layout design?
I have found out respecive table & field, In this
case(AR Invoice),
Table name - INV4
Field Name - Tax Rate,Tax Amount
When i am connecting respective table & field
through database field in print layout design,
It is retreving only one row only.
For example (Below is database table)
Document key .......Tax Rate .....Tax Amount.......
1 2% Rs.20
1 16% Rs.100
1 4% Rs.40
Document key is Invoice #.
Tax rate - 2% & Tax Amount - Rs 20 only(ie) is
first row only.
In print layout i can't retreive &
display subsequent rows,

If redo A/R Invoice then We loss a lot of time (Our A/R Invoice have about 500 rows).
Do you have other way to modify A/R Invoice and Link to Sales Order when created mistake.
I think the SAP B1 have Add-ons for this matter. But I do not kown.

SAP Business One Certification Updates

The SAP Business One release 2007* certifications will expire in the partner program at the end of 2011 when the 2007 release goes out of mainstream maintenance.
Additionally, prices for certifications taken at Pearson Vue centers will increase on August 15.
Therefore, it may be to your advantage to consider taking an 8.8 certification exam in the near future.
Currently, the passing scores for the 8.8 exams are as follows:
C_TB1200_88: 64%
C_TB1300_88: 57%

Hi,
When one has had an unsuccessful first attempt with the TB1300, there are 2 attempts to resit the exam.
Certificates are for specific Business One versions and they expire when that version is taken off the mainstream support i.e TB1300 Certificate for SBO 2007 is invalid in 2012. Would it be possible for one to wait till the next release of Business One is out to sit the TB1300? (Version 9 of Business One).
Will one be eligible or is it a must to be successful on the 8.8 version first?
How long does it take between the time SAP releases a new version i.e Version 9 to when the certification exams are ready to be taken for the newly released version?
Do the exam pass marks change with new Business One releases i.e do they go higher or lower than the current pass marks?

Update Business Partner via SAP Business One Webservices

We use the SAP Business One Webservices to add/update businesspartners and items.
We can add/update items without any problem.
We can also add businesspartners without any problem.
But when we try to update a businesspartner.
We always get the error message : "Entry already exists in following tables:"

Hi Bart,
I think the problem is because you are using the BPService twice without initializing it one more time in the middle.
You call first GetByParams and then Update.
The following code works for me:

Yes I know you can select u2018OKu2019 and move on with the entering of a marketing document, however this is an extra click and when you are entering a large number of documents a day this can become painfully and that is the feedback from the customers, is there a reason why this could not be an option in the company settings? I know this will not happen overnight and this is why I posted the question of the development collaboration forum.

- Can Sap B1 run on a Microsoft cluster composer of virtual machine VMWARE?
- Can Sap B1 run on a machine with 64 bit technology?
- Can client Sap B1 run on Citrix with gateway access?

VMWare hasn't been released; it may work (and I heard about people using it ), but if a problem can actually be traced back being a VMWare issue - you are "alone"...

Yes, please check the "Supported Platforms" information for B1 in the Channel Partner Portal on SAP Service Marketplace!
>- Can client Sap B1 run on Citrix with gateway access?
Not sue about "gateway access", but Citrix 4.0 (and 3.0) are officially supported.
You can find details at the same place as mentioned above (I don't have the link at hand, sorry).

SAP Business One - Java Connector

We have a SAP Business One Application installed on a laptop. The requirement is to be able to use the SAP Java API to update tables in the system. We are not allowed to connect directly to the database and was advised to use the API instead.
 
The downloaded API that we are using is "sapjco30P_6-10005324 32 bit.zip". I have included the dll file contained in this package in the WINDOWS/system32 folder. I am using Eclipse as IDE and already included the "sapjco3.jar" in the classpath.
 
First question: Am I using the right Java Connector for SAP Business One?

Installation of SAP Business One client and required administration rights

Dear community,
I would like to kindly ask you for your feedback on the installation of SAP Business One client and its patches on end-user computers.
The pain points I have heard so far are the following:
- The installation of SAP Business One client and its patches has to be started by a user with administrator rights. As far as I know (and please correct me if I am wrong), this is also required in case of installation of any other software.
- End users usually do not have administrator rights and therefore the SAP Business One clients have to be manually upgraded by administrator. This is time consuming (and therefore costly) activity.
We are considering to design a new solution which would overcome the above limitations.
I would like to confirm with you if my understanding is correct:
Question 1:
Is it a common situation that the end-users of SAP Business One client do not have administrator rights and therefore cannot install the patches of SAP Business One client by themselves?
If yes, how do you resolve this currently?
Question 2:
Do you use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or Active Directory (or any other 3rd party solution) to automatically distribute software packages and updates to client PCs at your customers?
Question 3:
If the SAP Business One client installation (and its patches) is delivered as MSI package with silent installation capability, would you be able to automate the deployment of B1 client updates to client PC using the abovementioned technologies? Or can you still see some obstacles?

@Marco - SAP Business One 8.8 client currently does not support the silent installation / upgrade. However we are currently considering this requirement and we would like to deliver it as soon as possible.
We are currently considering several possible designs. One of them is as follows:
1. A new SAP Business One Updater Service will be installed on each client workstation.
It will be a windows service installed and running under a local system account.
2. The updater service will check regularly if there are any new patches of SAP Business One client or add-ons uploaded to a configured shared directory.
3. If a new patch is found in the shared directory, the updater service will SILENTLY install the new patch (add-ons, SAP Business One) on the client workstation.
The service would be able to install patches even if nobody is logged in.
Questions:
If we consider the above design, there are a few open topics:
1. During the upgrade of the SAP Business One server, the client patches (and SAP add-on patches, partner add-ons) would be placed to a SHARED directory instead of into SBO-Common (as it is implemented currently).
- Does this have any impact on your tools, processes or add-ons?
2. SAP Business One upgrade wizard will put the latest patch of SAP Business One client into a configured shared directory. The shared directory will have to be read-only for everybody in the network to avoid that the valid installation files are replaced by malware or virus infected files
- Can you configure such a shared directory?
From customer perspective, if a new patch is put into the shared directory, the updater service can behave as follows:
1. Manually initiated upgrade of the client
Example: Customer starts the old (not upgraded) SAP Business One client. The client will inform him/her that a new patch has been found and it has to be installed in order to continue working with the client. After customer clicks "Yes", the upgrader service starts the silent installation of the client and informs customer about the progress. Once the upgrade is finished, the upgraded SAP Business One client will be started automatically.
2. Automatic update:
- Update the client automatically (e.g. overnight) if customer is not working with SAP Business One
- If SAP Business One client is running, ask customer if he/she wishes to upgrade the client now or to delay the upgrade by X minutes.
Question: Which of the above two scenarios would you and your customers prefer?
If the upgrade is fully silent, automated and handled by the upgrader service, Is it acceptable for customers to trigger the installation manually and wait till the client is upgraded? Or would they prefer to have the client updated for them e.g. overnight so they can immediately start to work?

SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release this year and we can see in the feature enhancements that a significant update is planned in the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One, more commonly known as RSP. Let’s have a quick look what update is planned for RSP in version 9.1:

RSP is planned to support both SAP Business One on Microsoft SQL Server as well as SAP Business One on HANA Database
RSP Processes and Reports adapted to SAP HANA Database
With this plan RSP will help in the areas of Download, Installation, Go-Live Check, Monitoring, Upgrade and Support for SAP Business One both   on SQL Server and HANA.
But like me (non-SAP B1 Consultant) many of you have the question what is RSP and how it helps in support? Here I have tried to gather all information.
What is Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One?
The remote support platform for SAP Business One is designed to protect a SAP Business One installation by providing automated and remote support in a high-volume business.
The platform monitors the entire SAP Business One environment. By significantly reducing the time between the appearance, identification, and resolution of issues, the remote support platform for SAP Business One minimizes the impact on customer databases and processes.
Some Key Features of Remote Support Platform:
Showing alerts to SAP B1 Admin about the events which require their attention, such as low disk space, database backups, etc.
Incident Reports against the issues identified which require attention of SAP Support
Company Database Backup and Restore options
Regular fixes of Company Database inconsistencies
Check, Download and Install regular updates in SAP Business One
Upload Logs and required files to SAP Support or to Partner Support on regular basis
Some details about RSP Backup Management
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly backups
Perform differential and full database backups
Back up transaction logs
Back up files to shared folders on a network
System Status Report through RSP

Hi Experts confusion on migration from "SAP Business One" to "SAP R/3"

Hi All
I am a certified SAP Business One Certified Solution consultant and working on SAP Business One for the past 2.5 yrs and done 4 implementations.
I want to migrate to SAP R/3 and have confusion on weather to join Project Systems/Material Management for training and pursue my career in the same. I want to do the Online Certification for the same.
I feel like Jack of ALL and Master on None after working on SAP Business One.
Pls guide me on the possible R/3 career options after SAP Business One and weather my experience in SAP will be counted for my future SAP career.
I am confused Pls help.

Better get trained in area of domain experience and get SAP certified.

As regard to php sample, sorry we don't such sample so far.
Per php, I recommend you to B1WS, a web service wrapper of DI Server for only those 45 services objects. You can download B1WS here: SDK Tools Download:

From technical perspective, DI Server is based DCOM technology, I am not sure it is natively supported php. So you may think about wrapping DI server as web server with ASP.net, just like B1WS. php<=>web server<=>DI server
