Thanks in Advance
Satya

Hi Satya,
From a high level, at our comapny we have the following roles:
Analysis - Gathering the business requirements, and writing any spec
Developer - Create the BW objects and process based on the Analysis specs
Tester - Test all BW objects and process created for the project
Support - Beside the roles defined by Krishna, they also set up the Process Chains and Data loads, approve and move any transport between systems
End-User - We have self service application, so we have our super users set up any queries for their user community
Basis - Monitor the system, and perform any performance tuning as needed.
Cheers! Bill

  • Is Services in SAP and Customer Jobs in Quick Books same?

    Hi All,
    Services done for a customer by a sales rep is stored in Service modules in SAP. In QuickBooks Customer Jobs field is there for a Sales person to calculate is commisssion based on the job performed by her/him to the customer.
    My Question is whether the both or same.
    Please reply soon
    I always welcome ur suggestions
    Thanks in Advance
    Janakiraman

    Hi Janakiraman,
    Unfortunately I do not know quick books. All service call data is stored in the database, so you can do your own report calculations on commissions for the sales people. Invoices can also be booked against a service call and commission by sales person can be calculated on the invoices.
    Hope it helps,

  • Online and batch job running concurrently in SAP FI-CA

    Hi experts,
    Could anyone let me know of any issues which might crop up while online and batch jobs are executed concurrently in SAP FI-CA?
    If yes,then what should be the design considerations to avoid such issues?
    Many thanks,
    Sanjay Misra

    Hi Sanjay,
    William is correct in this scenario. You cann't run some processes where the object should be block while it run in background.
    Some of the processes in FICA are: FPMA, FPVA, FPINTM1, FPRW etc.
    There is only one solution to overcome from this and this is, you need to run these programmes in parellal jobs assigning maximum allotable jobs. And break into short intervals.

  • How to create a new variant and a job sheduled to use it for the ......

    How to create a new variant and a job sheduled to use it for the exisisting programs

    Hi
    1. The ALV Grid Control is a tool with which you can output non-hierarchical lists in a
    standardized format. The list data is displayed as a table on the screen.
    The ALV Grid Control offers a range of interactive standard list functions that users need
    frequently (find, sort, filter, calculate totals and subtotals, print, print preview, send list,
    export list (in different formats), and so on. These functions are implemented in the
    proxy object class. You as the programmer have the possibility to turn off functions not
    needed. In most cases the implementations of the standard functions provided by the
    control are sufficient. However, if required, you can adjust these implementations to
    meet application-specific needs.
    You can add self-defined functions to the toolbar, if necessary.
    The ALV Grid Control allows users to adjust the layout of lists to meet their individual
    requirements (for example, they can swap columns, hide columns, set filters for the
    data to be displayed, calculate totals, and so on). The settings (list customizing) made
    by a specific user are called a display variant. Display variants can be saved on a userspecific
    or on a global basis. If such display variants exist for a list, they can be offered
    to the user for selection. If a display variant is set as the default variant, the associated
    list is always displayed based on the settings of this variant.
    2. REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY
    REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY
    REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE
    REUSE_ALV_COMMENTARY_WRITE
    3. Use of Field Catalog is to determines the technical properties & add formating information of the column.
    6. all the definition of internal table, structure, constants are declared in a type-pool called SLIS.
    7.fieldcat-fieldname
    fieldcat-ref_fieldname
    fieldcat-tabname
    fieldcat-seltext_m
    5. Form user_command using r_ucomm like sy-ucomm rs_selfield type slis_selfield.
    Sap provides a set of ALV (ABAP LIST VIEWER) function modules which can be put into use to embellish the output of a report. This set of ALV functions is used to enhance the readability and functionality of any report output. Cases arise in sap when the output of a report contains columns extending more than 255 characters in length.
    In such cases, this set of ALV functions can help choose selected columns and arrange the different columns from a report output and also save different variants for report display. This is a very efficient tool for dynamically sorting and arranging the columns from a report output.
    The report output can contain up to 90 columns in the display with the wide array of display options.
    <b>The commonly used ALV functions used for this purpose are;</b>
    1. REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_DEFAULT_GET
    2. REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_F4
    3. REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_EXISTENCE
    4. REUSE_ALV_EVENTS_GET
    5. REUSE_ALV_COMMENTARY_WRITE
    6. REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE
    7. REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY
    8. REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY
    9. REUSE_ALV_POPUP_TO_SELECT
    Purpose of the above Functions are differ not all the functions are required in all the ALV Report.
    But either no.7 or No.8 is there in the Program.
    <b>
    How you call this function in your report?</b>
    After completion of all the data fetching from the database and append this data into an Internal Table. say I_ITAB.
    Then use follwing function module.
    CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'
    EXPORTING
    I_CALLBACK_PROGRAM = 'Prog.name'
    I_STRUCTURE_NAME = 'I_ITAB'
    I_DEFAULT = 'X'
    I_SAVE = 'A'
    TABLES
    T_OUTTAB = I_ITAB.
    IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    WRITE: 'SY-SUBRC: ', SY-SUBRC .
    ENDIF.
    ENDFORM. " GET_FINAL_DATA
    The object F_IT_ALV has a field, the activity ACTVT, which can
    contain four permitted values: 01, 02, 03 and 70. Each of the
    activities 01, 02 and 70 controls the availability of particular
    functions (in the menu and the toolbar) of the ALV line item list:
    a) 01: "Settings -> Display variant -> Save..."
    b) 02: "Settings -> Display variant -> Current..." and
    "Settings -> Display variant -> Current header rows "
    c) 70: "Settings -> Display variant -> Administration..."
    Activity 03 corresponds to the minimum authorization, which is the
    most restricted one: The user can only select layouts which have
    been configured already. In particular, all of the other functions
    named above are inactive with activity 03.
    Now if you want to permit a user to change the column selection and
    the headers as well as to save the layout thus created, for example,
    but if you do not want to permit the user to administrate the
    layouts, you grant him or her the authorization for activities 01
    and 02.

  • OFFLINE backup and DB13 jobs configuratins error in MSCS cluster with OFS

    Hello,
    We have recently installed SAP ERP 6.0 EhP4 SR1 in MSCS cluster using Oracle Fail Safe.
    The installation is successful and all the failover scenarios work fine.
    I need to schedule offline backups and DB13 jobs, which is not possible in current scenario as once the database shuts down it fails over to node2.
    I am following sapnote 657999 to install standalone gateway on both the nodes of the cluster and assigned the service to ORACLE<SID> group. the gw<SID> is different from the ERP<SID>.
    However, the  service SAP<gwSID>_<gwSN> fail to come up with the following error.
    The service SAPSGA_30 cannot be started on local computer
    error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly.
    The ../SapCluster/sapgw and associated directories have full permission.
    Following are the contents of the profiles in ../SapCluster/sapgw
    default.pfl
    SAPDBHOST = ORACLEPRD
    gw30.pfl
    SAPSYSTEMNAME = SGA
    INSTANCE_NAME = GW30
    SAPSYSTEM = 30
    DIR_PROFILE=C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    DIR_EXECUTABLE=C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    DIR_INSTANCE=C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    SAPLOCALHOST = ORACLEPRD
    SAPLOCALHOSTFULL = ORACLEPRD
    startgw.pfl
    SAPSYSTEMNAME = SGA
    INSTANCE_NAME = GW30
    SAPSYSTEM = 30
    DIR_EXECUTABLE = C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    DIR_PROFILE = C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    DIR_INSTANCE = C:\WINDOWS\SapCluster\sapgw
    _GW=gwrd.exe
    Start_Program_00 = local $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)\$(_GW) pf=$(DIR_PROFILE)\gw30.pfl
    Now as the service is a part of my ORACLE<ERP SID> group, everytime I try to bring the group online, it fails due to the gw service and toggles many times in the two nodes before coming to rest on one node withfailed gw service and database in the  up condition.
    Any insight in this regard will be really helpful.
    Thanks
    Nischal

    Hello,
    Yes we were able to configure offline backups.
    We opted to install standalone gateway on both nodes and added it to the DB group. That provides the essential shell console.
    You need to follow the SAP Note 657999 and then 378648 for setting the necessary environment variables.
    One piece of advice, use the SID and system no. for the independent gateway, different from any of your SAP installations.
    Thanks

  • ALV, initialization and background job

    Hi,
    I've got a basic report that is causing some problems.
    On my selection screen there are 2 buttons ,say Button 1 and Button 2. If you click button 1 set gv_var to 'A', click button 2 and gv_var is set to 'B'.
      IF sy-ucomm = 'PB_1'.
        gv_ var = 'A'.
      ELSEIF sy-ucomm = 'PB_2'.
        gv_var = 'B'.
    ENDIF.
    In the initialization section gv_var is initialized to A.
    When I execute this report in the foreground there are no problems. However, when I Execute it in the background gv_var doesn't change. It just stays at the value it was set at in the Initialization section.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Please note that AT USER-COMMAND will not get triggered for background jobs.
    Even your custom defined Menu bar will not be available for Background jobs.
    The reason is: According to SAP system, you have scheduled a job, and the job is run. And if the job status is completed, you will view the output.
    There you cannot capture the Sy-ucomm value, since according to SAP system the job is completed, meaning that the report is run and the output is displayed. No more events can be triggered at that place.
    Which is not the case with foreground mode, since, until you leave the program, the program is still under execution only.
    Best Regards,
    Suresh

  • Difference: Job run in foreground, job run in background and batch job

    Hi  Gurus,
    Can you please help me to know what are the differences between job run in foreground, job run in background and batch job? Do jobs in foreground run in presentation server? Do jobs in background or batch jobs run in application server?
    Thanks,
    Kumar

    foreground job running may cause job running crash or failed if it is too big or server is busy and it take too long time. meantime it will take one sap session.
    background job will run base on request server status. and it will not take your sap session. and it will not failed normally.
    and you can get the result by SM37.
    my experience show that big report run in background normally faster than in foreground.

  • Best SAP Security Practices Print,file,job schedule, archiving

    Hello All, i would like to know in your experience which will be the best practices for Security  for this list below:
    - Printer security (especially check printing)
    - File path security for export/import
    - Best Practice for Job Schedule and Spool file
    - Archiving process (I can't think of any specific to security, other than Security Audit Logs)
    Are there any special transactions/system settings/parameters that must be on place in order to hard SAP Systems?
    Do you have any documentation related?
    I mean for example Job, spool i think user must just only run heir own jobs,and se their own works for printing, is there a paremeter to athenticate Prints/user, etc.
    Please let me know your comments about those related issues.
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks a lot.
    Ahmed

    Hi,
    PFCG_TIME_DEPENDENCY
    This is best to run once a day mostly after 12.01 am as it removes the roles which are invalid for current date. As role assignment is on date basis there is no advantage of running it hourly.
    /VIRSA/ZVFATBAK
    This is for GRC 5.3, and this job is to collect FFID logs from backend to GRC repository, so if you have frequent FFID usage you can schedule it hourly or for every 30 min too, if you have enough bandwidth in your server to get the latest log report. or else you can have it scheduled for twice a day too, so it is purely based on your need.
    Hope this helps.

  • Communication between SAP e-recruitment and 3rd party website

    Hi,
    We are implementing e-recruitment module and would like to know how to transport a recruitment advertisement created in SAP e-Recruitment to a job website. Should we use IDOC and XI? Or is there some other way of doing it? How does SAP e-Recruitment communicate with the 3rd party website? The advertisement should be transported in a way that it can be directly displayed on the job website, with all the formatting intact.
    Please let me know in detail how the functionality can be achieved.

  • Differences in Background jobs and Dialog jobs

    Hi everyone,
    I am new to SAP and would like a little clarification regarding what is meant by Background jobs and Dialog jobs/processes. We had a situation at our client location where the system got completely bogged down to the point that it almost froze and many of the process chains were failing in BI. As per the basis team, the jobs were triggered as "dialog jobs" instead of "background" jobs which caused a heavy load on the system.
    What is the difference? What happens when the jobs are run in the background or as dialog? Can both be checked in SM37?
    Points will be awarded
    Thanks.

    **Dialog Work process:** The Dialog work process fulfill all requests for the execution of dialog steps triggered by an active user. The dialog work process are not used for request which take long time and which use more cpu. Every dispatcher requires at least two dialog work processes. The dialog work process default time is 300 secs. If the dialog work process does not respond in this time, it will be terminated. Also dialog work process are multiplexed to handle large no of user request.
    **Background Work process:** The background work processes execute programs that run without user interaction. At least two background work processes are required per SAP system. More than one background work processes can be configured per dispatcher. Usually the background work process are used for carrying jobs that take long time to finish, like client copy, client transport etc.., . There are two types of background work process. They are A type and B type. A type background work process are used for mission critical jobs. Background jobs of priority a have high priority than B type back ground jobs.
    you can check your job using tcode SM50.
    Thanks

  • Destination and publication job servers - missing

    Hi,
    Hi the destination and publication job servers seem to be missing. I need them to setup "Publication via SNC with SAP BW." Am I OK to set them up as follows in CMC?
    DESTINATION JOB SERVER - Service Category: Core Services, Service: Destination Delivery Scheduling Service
    PUBLICATION JOB SERVER - Service Category: Core Services, Service: Publication Scheduling Service
    Also, do I need to include any of the additional services when creating the servers?
    Thanks

    Seems that it is correct.
    But wondering, how come the servers are missing.
    You can add those core services.
    You can also check by creating new SIA node using CCM. You can try that too.

    My question is: how do I remove these failed instances from the system? Because I think that is a start of the solution.
